Even after a few weeks of taking on her new duties as Prefect, Layla was still not used to being in such a position. She found that she liked guiding the younger ones when they needed it, but was timid about the whole disciplinary part of it. She'd even had to take points off her own house! She'd felt terrible, but she had to do it.
Today had been a particularly trying day. She remembered being a first year, but it was hard to relate to it now. In just the past two days she had run into a few firsties that were either homesick, scared, confused... all things she knew for a fact would go away in just a few more weeks. She tried to make them feel better by just talking to them, sometimes even resorting to some nifty tricks with her wand just to see a grin before she felt she could leave them alone age.
She of course loved her fellow Ravens, but she needed to get out. She had left her Tower with all her books and materials, with the intention of going to the library, but halfway there she realized that there might be a better alternative. She smirked as she produced the password she had used only two times before and stepped in, scanning the room. Perfect. Empty.
By the time she'd unloaded her things, she realized that she wasn't quite ready for her potions essay. Leaving her things on the desk, she took the plushiest-looking couch in the room and laid out on her belly, burying her face into the cushions.

Meanwhile, Charlie had taken the liberty of ending her relaxing bath in the lush bathrooms of the prefect lounge. This certain bath had the scent of cinnamon and... hamburgers? That was the scent she wanted, and so she got it.
She had left no trace in the lounge itself, preferring her things to be near her in the loos. But when she was done with the bath, she had toweled off (in her bathing suit-- no way she'd go forgo the clothes in a still-public place) rather quietly, and was about to get to be loud again when she saw a certain Ravenbutt. A grin creeped up on Charlie's face and she yet again abandoned her things, this time making sure she made no noise as she casually sat on Layla, lounging there as if nothing or no one was under her. "Man, what a day."

Layla was starting to feel her body sink in slowly into the cushion, making a body impression that she was tempted to stay in for longer than she should. Her few moments of relaxation were abruptly, and painfully, interrupted by a certain Serpent sitting on her. Layla let out a large 'OOOMMPH" as the weight settled on her bum right where her spin ended. She quickly turned her head and saw Charlie comfortably using her as a seat with a big fat grin on her face.
She would have remarked on how her day went, except for the overwhelming feeling that she was being crushed. "Uhh.. Charlie," she said, strained and using a free arm to try to push her off. "My kidney. I'd like to keep both."

Charlie had made sure to move around to get as comfortable as possible. It was actually pretty hard considering using another person as a couch was not an easy thing to do. But pretending she was doing it right was easy all the same. "Holy Merlin the couch is talkin'!" Charlie looked around in alarm, looking at an invisible audience to laugh along at the antics. "Knows my name, too! SWEET!" She grinned from ear to ear like a loony, but didn't look at Layla yet.

The bit of strength she was using to push the Slytherin off was now being expended in a laugh that was starting to make her ribs hurt. Of course... she'd spent the last couple of days trying to find Charlie, and the minute she catches up t her the Slytherin decides that splitting her in half would be fun. She groaned again when Charlie adjusted herself on her spine since the laughter only made it hurt more. Not remembering whether or not Charlie was ticklish (buy begging to Merlin's beard that she was), she took her free hand poked the girl's tummy. "You'll never take me alive!"

Charlie, caught off guard by the move, began to wriggle and writhe about at the tickling. She normally wasn't very ticklish-- her neck was the sweet spot, not her sides-- but it she made an audible and visible effort to get off of Layla. "FINE FINE!!" Charlie practically bounced off the seat, landing on her hands and knees on the floor, but then helped herself up promptly. "Truce, okay?!? TRUCE!!" She took out her hand desperately to end a nasty tickling fight. No one would ever know where her most ticklish spot would be, she decided.

Finally able to breathe, Layla quickly sat up, ready to use her tickling fingers. Charlie stopped her in her tracks by calling a truce, but Layla kept her stance, knowing better than to let her guard down too early. "Hmm," she mumbled skeptically, trying to keep herself from grinning. She stood up straight as Charlie helped herself up from the ground and slowly extended her own hand in peace. "You've saved yourself for now, Charlene," she told her, finally allowing the smirk to appear as she pronounced the Slytherin's proper name. Knowing she was in murky territory, especially after that, she still kept her distance from the girl.

Oh, she was in for it now! Charlie had already gotten her own hand in Layla's, when the Ravenclaw extended her name to dreaded formality that was her name given at birth. Her eager face turned sinister at a lightening-fast pace, and she soon went to maneuver their truce into a lovely little headlock. This wasn't the brand she gave to Corey Faulkland at that one time by the lake when he annoyed her. She went through the motions quickly, brazenly but still playfully. "WHAT'DJA SAY?!?"

"AH!" She'd expected the girls reaction, but Layla wasn't the well-trained athlete that Charlie was and was immediately trapped under the girl's grip. Layla couldn't help but laugh loudly at her immediate reaction. She couldn't match the upper body strength, but Layla hoped that her legs and her weight were enough to maneuver the Slytherin back to the couch. Pivoting on her feet to try to get Charlie's back to the couch, Layla planted her feet to the ground and pushed. "GIVE IT UP CHARLENE!" she yelled, fighting through the arm around her neck.

The maneuver was clever on Layla's part, the Slytherin had to admit. Charlie landed back on the couch with a soft thud. With that, she started to laugh out loud, still the arm around her best friend's neck as she tried to tuck her feet on the underside of the couch. "YOU THINK YOU'VE WON?!?" She continued to laugh, and surprisingly... she let go. "Fine, no headlock." Immediately her arms went behind her head and she reclined back on the couch, now pivoting herself after untucking her feet, so she took up the couch. "But I get the couch, ahaha....." A proud smirk took up her face.

Layla momentarily beamed at her short-lived triumph. She suddenly found herself released from the headlock, but also relieved from her seat. "Hey I was there first!" she exclaimed with a defiant hands-on-hips pose. Layla quickly undid and retied her hair after Charlie had put it through her headlock and then kicked off her shoes.
"Did you at least scrub your feet while you were in there?" She lifted Charlie's legs and sat down, letting Charlie's legs lay out on her lap. Though I guess my sinuses do need to clear," she told her, "I think I'm coming down with something." To be fair, it was true. Layla had felt her nose a little stuffed in the mornings when she woke up the last few days, but it seemed to get better throughout the day. She really hoped she wouldn't get sick, she couldn't afford any more sidetracks from her schoolwork when she was getting so close to being caught up.

As Layla made mention of her feet, Charlie moved her legs up and down for a bit, to make an added emphasis to her stuck-out tongue. "I'm clean as a whistle, though, so ha." No shower or bath was a shower or a bath until one took it in the prefect's loo. It was the ultimate luxury, and one of those things worth missing when it came to leaving Hogwarts.
Charlie made a pouty face at her friend and said, "Awww poor wittle Waywa sickie wickie?" She sat up and outstretched her arms in order to pinch the Ravenclaw's cheeks. It was all in good fun, she just always loved playing around with Layla.

"Ah!" Layla swatted Charlie's hand when she reached over to pinch her cheeks. Charlie had a way of doing the most obnoxious things ever, Layla still didn't quite understand how she could withstand them all. She did however, realize that one's pain threshold increase just by being Charlie's friend.
"Yea I was gonna look through some stuff," she said nodding towards her whole collection of school books she'd brought with her, "but I got on the couch to take a quick nap, and ended up with a Slytherin splitting my spine. You know... typical day." Layla smirked and let her head fall back against the back of the couch. She realized that she wasn't going to get any work done and decided to make the best of it.

"That's ridiculous," Charlie said with a slight scoff as she wiggled her toes, "Should be an honor to have a Slytherin on top of ya! It's what makes the world go round." She fiddled with the rubber band on her wristband, eventually getting it in a slingshot mode. Looking to the central table, she summoned the ever-present bowl of jelly beans, and took a few to place on her stomach. Taking a black one, she thought nothing much of aiming it towards the door that lead into the prefect loos. Taking the shot, she heard the satisfying sound of a shot cleared.
"You can't get sick, ya know. We've got stuff to do, and we can't do it if you've got the black plague on you," she said. What that "stuff" was was unclear, but she did imply hanging out.

"Yea," she retorted with a smirk, "it's also what causes paralysis." Layla softly poked the nearest Slytherin foot within reach, still determined to make her crack. She then reached over and stole the red jellybean, inspecting it before putting it in her mouth.
"I dunno maybe it's not enough sleep or something." It was something her mother told her many times before, though she didn't know if it was something that would make her sick. Her mind quickly flickering away the thought of her mother, Layla turned back to Charlie and raised an eyebrow. "Stuff?" she asked with a snort, amused yet a bit annoyed at the general label her friend had given it. "I haven't been able to keep you in one place for more than 15 minutes at a time recently." She looked away for a second, hoping she hadn't sounded harsh. It wasn't either their fault that they were busy. Sighing heavily, Layla leaned her head back. "Let's quit school and hunt for rare magical creatures in Tibet." She was tired... and cranky.
