"Quiet down, I don't want her to hear you," Lucas hissed to the fidgeting squirrel in his hands. The squirrel just stared up at him with a blank expression, not having any idea what Lucas was trying to say to him. Rolling his eyes, the Ravenclaw just carried on along the corridor, making his way to the school's newspaper office. He figured Felicity would either be here or at the library and the office was closer so he went there first. Looking down at the squirrel, Lucas stood in front of the door to the office, wondering how he was going to knock without letting go of the creature. He definitely needed two hands to hold him in place.
Sticking out his right foot, Lucas caught his balance and stood still for a moment before swinging his foot out, tapping it twice against the door. "You need to be quiet," Lucas told the squirrel, feeling slightly like an idiot for talking to the animal who responded with another blank stare. Lucas rolled his eyes again, but held onto Sammy, knowing it would make Felicity happy when she saw he'd brought her the furry, little guy.

Busy. That's what she was. The paper was taking up a bit more of her time than she really cared for it to as the time was dwindelling down to when the first issue was due out. Looking over one of the articles that had been handed in, she carefully read it over once, twice, three times, before making any note of edits. Wanting to make sure it made sense before making changes, that was how she operated. If it made complete sense, then she'd be more likely to appropriately make necessary changes.
The knocking on the door actually surprised her, it was unexpected, but not an unpleasant interruption. At least, she hoped it wouldn't be. Putting the article she was reviewing down, she called out to the unopened door. "It's open!"
Most people knew the door wasn't ever locked, that anyone could enter at almost any time, and it made her wonder who it was. Of course, there were times the door would be locked, but it was highly unusual for it to be.

Lucas was just being polite. He hadn't expected the door to be open and he knew better than to just go charging into a room. His mom had raised a gentleman, but now he was in a bit of a pickle. He was counting on someone on the other side of the door to open it for him. Lucas couldn't really let go of the squirrel to open the door. With a sigh, he wondered if he should call through the door and ruin the surprise or if he should just figure out a way to get the door open. Opening his mouth, Lucas thought better of it and just tried the door.
Sliding the squirrel into the front pocket of his uncle's sweatshirt he always wore, Lucas put one hand on it and held the animals in place. He whispered a quick apology for being so rough with him and opened the door to see Felicity sitting at the desk with what looked like an article in front of her. "Hey," Lucas greeted her, unable to keep the excited smile off his face, "I've got something for you." Lucas shut the door behind him in case Sammy escaped when he was given over to the girl. If so, he didn't really have a lot of places to go.

"Hi Lucas, long time no see," she grinned at the boy. In fact, it really hadn't been that long. At most a week or so. Smiling, she wondered if perhaps he'd written something he wanted to have placed in the paper, and she didn't have the slightest of problems with it if he did. It just meant a bit more time in the office, editing and rearranging. No problems. However, he was grabbing at his sweatshirt pocket and she wondered if perhaps she should be afraid. It looked kind of strange, but then she reminded herself he was harmless.
Or at least he had been in the library. Standing, the Gryffindor made her way around the desk so she was closer to the boy, and to the couches that stood beside the door for company and interviews. "What do you have?"

"Uh, well," Lucas began, reaching into his pocket and keeping his hand there to soothe the creature and keep it quiet, "I had remembered you saying something about a squirrel, named Sammy, and I believe I promised to keep an eye out." Lucas was taking a long time on purpose. Mostly because he was just being a smart-Alec, but partially because he wanted to stay as long as he could. From what he'd learned of her in the library. Felicity seemed like a pretty cool girl and he really wanted to get to know her better. This was a strange thing for Lucas because he rarely let people get close.
Slowly, his hand tightened around the squirrel's stomach and he began to pull him out of his pocket. The squirrel squeaked at the sudden movement but calmed down quickly once it was out in the open and it's eyes landed on Felicity. "And I found him," Lucas finished finally with a grin.

A cautious smile touched her lips as she gazed at the boy. Yes, he had promised to keep an eye out for Sammy, but she thought it a bit strange he was bringing it up, especially in the office. When he began drawing his hand out of the pocket, it was doubtful he would be expecting the squeal of delight that escaped her. Bringing her hands over her mouth, her light brown eyes widened as she looked at the squirrel. It was definitely hers.
Clapping her hands, she wanted to throw herself at the Ravenclaw in order to tightly hug him for capturing her squirrel, but was afraid to do so, what with him still holding her furry fiend. "You did," she whispered excitedly. "You found Sammy!"
Oh, the joy she felt was like none other. It was barely the end of the month and she'd only been chasing the animal for two, and there he was. Caught in someone's hands, and someone's hands she loved very much at that moment. Words could not correctly proclaim her happiness as she tried not to jump about in excitement.

It was true that Lucas hadn't expected a squeal from Felicity (although somehow it seemed natural that she did so) but it was a pleasant surprise. He was glad that she was so happy he'd found her pet and Lucas felt a little better too. It seemed as though he hadn't really done anything except sit around and brood since he'd arrived at Hogwarts so the fact that he'd done something nice for one of the first people he met, made him feel better. But mostly, he was just happy that she was happy.
A genuine grin spread across Lucas' lips as he watched her trying to contain herself and he found himself just staring at her for a moment. He quickly snapped out of it and tried to find words and form a sentence. "Here," was all he managed to croak out, handing the squirrel off to the extremely excited girl. The smile on Lucas' face never faltered as he watched Felicity. He couldn't really explain it and he didn't know why he couldn't tear his eyes away from her. There was just something about her right now, so excited like this that was just...beautiful.
"I found him up in the Room of Requirement," Lucas realized he was saying suddenly. He hadn't even clued in that he was speaking, "I was up there and I turned around and saw him. You were right, he does like yellow leaves." Reaching into the pocket of his sweater, Lucas pulled out the remainder of the leaf that Sammy had been chewing on and gave it back to the animal. "Here you go, little guy," he said softly to Sammy.

As he held the squirrel out to her, she was excited to the point where she wasn't entirely sure she'd be able to hold the creature without dropping it. But hold it she did, the little animal felt so soft in her hands, she must've fallen asleep. Yes, it had to be a dream for the Ravenboy she liked very much to have entered the room and hand her Sammy. That was all there was to it, she was dreaming. But the dream was so nice she didn't want to wake in the slightest bit from it.
Allowing what she'd decided was most definitely a dream to continue, she smiled up at Lucas. "I wasn't lying," she replied. Just because she'd decided it was a dream didn't mean she couldn't talk, after all she had been told she talked in her sleep. Often giving away a bit too much information when asked for it. Pulling Sammy closer to her, she hugged him in her arms while he contentedly chewed on the remaining dream leaf dream Lucas had handed dream Sammy. "He really seems to have some sort of infatuation with them. It's kind of strange because I still haven't found anything in the books I've been reading about them."
Oh, what a nice dream it really was. However, she knew that when she woke she was going to feel the let down of her pet missing, but it was well worth it to have such a sweet dream. Letting her light brown eyes travel up to meet Lucas' eyes, she smiled her gratitude, still wanting to jump on him out of excitement. "Thank you so much." The blonde had to still be nice to him, even if he was just a dream image.

When their eyes met, Lucas never wanted to look away. He tried to speak but merely opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water. When his words came back, all he could do was stutter until something solid came out. "I-I..uhh...m-maybe...I-I...should, umm, your welcome," he spat out finally. Wow, that was lame. Once Felicity had the squirrel safely in her hands, Lucas figured it was the right now to get out of there before he made a bigger idiot of himself.
"Maybe, I should uhh...just head out," Lucas offered, pointing over to the door as if she needed to know where it was. The Ravenclaw started walking backwards before turning and heading for the door, hoping to make a quick escape before anything else went wrong. You are such a moron! he scolded himself on the way out.

A soft smile touched her lips as he replied to her, he really did seem to be kind of shy, and it was adorable. But the smile faultered when he began to leave her, if this was a dream, it was kind of an annoying one. If it were a dream, then he would stay, and if it were a dream, nothing would happen to her squirrel if she decided to hug the boy. Going with that thought, Felicity reached out and grabbed his arm to keep him from leaving.
Stepping forward, she wrapped one of her arms around him in a small hug. And had she been a bit taller, or didn't have Sammy in her other arm, she would've pulled him closer to her so she could kiss his cheek. "Don't go," she pleaded lightly. "Unless you have something to do," she added, feeling completely rude for assuming he had nothing better to do than to hang around with her for a bit of time. "I mean, I like talking to you so it's not like I want you to go."
Releasing him, she took a half a step back and tilted her head back to see face fully. Sammy seemed more than content with the bouncing around she caused by moving, and to just be finishing his leaf.

"Uhh, no," Lucas replied, "I don't have anything that can't wait." He was slightly dazed from the sudden hug and he hadn't even had the chance to hug her back before she'd already started to pull away. He cursed himself in his head for not being faster but now it was too late. But if Lucas got another chance, he certainly wasn't going to blow it.
Coming back to where Felicity stood, Lucas sat down slowly on one of the couches in front of them, figuring he was going to be here for a while. Not that he minded at all. He could spend the rest of the evening there and not be bothered at all.
"So how goes the newspaper business?" Lucas asked curiously, trying to divert his attention in another direction, "Lots of people writing in? I've got a few things jotted down up in my dorm if you need anything extra." That was weird. Lucas had never really willingly offered anyone his work, he preferred to just keep it to himself. But the Ravenclaw suddenly found himself unable to stop the offers that were now coming out of his mouth at a steady flow.

"Not lots," she admitted, quite pleased that he'd opted to stay. Taking a seat beside him, she turned her body so she was facing him, Sammy still in her arms. It was turning to be a normal dream, other than the fact she held Sammy in her arms in the office. Being she'd fallen asleep while reading over one of the articles, it'd be quite plausible for her to be dreaming of talking about the paper. "There are a fair few staff members, but not many others really write for it."
It was kind of saddening to her, though she knew it was a new thing, so it would just take time to take off. Smiling brightly, she looked up a the boy from the grey furball in her arms. "You'd let me use some of your stuff?" she questioned to make sure she'd heard right, suddenly hoping it wasn't a dream at all. "I'd love to, if you didn't mind."
Anything to make the paper more of an 'all students' type of thing. He wouldn't even have to be a full staff member if he didn't want to be, she'd accept bits and pieces when he could afford to do so, if he chose to do so. And although it meant more to review, the blonde didn't mind the idea at all.

"Yeah sure," Lucas told her with a smile, "If you need it, I'll gladly let you have some of it. But...can I request that we kinda...keep it secret? Use a different name when it's published?" There was the old Lucas. Nervous, as always. He didn't mind if people read his stuff as long as they didn't know who it was. Felicity would know it was him, but he hoped that would be the extent of knowledge. Lucas didn't think he was a great writer so if anyone didn't like it, at least he didn't have to deal with the criticism.

A large grin was displayed on the Gryffindor's face as her eyes lit up. That meant one more thing to add, something that would easily take up room in the paper, and she was sure it'd be interesting, especially as Lucas was such an interesting person. And he had caught Sammy, that was a plus in her book. "No problem," she replied. "We'll get you a pseudonym, something that no one would be able to pinpoint it on you with. It'll be great."
Pulling the unnaturally quiet squirrel up in her arms a bit more, she cuddled him as her fingers gently swept through the grey fur. He was as adorable as the first time she'd spotted him and had chased him about the grounds, only to find herself stuck in the tree he made his home in, but then again, that also led to something good.
"So, what kind of stuff do you have up in the dorm?" she asked curiosly. And realizing how it sounded, as though she were prying further than she really was, her face flushed slightly. "I mean, jotted down. What type of things do you write?"

Lucas' attention was drawn to the squirrel as Felicity shifted him so he was up higher. Cautiously, the Ravenclaw reached out and pet the furry creature, a small grin creeping onto his face and lighting up his features. His eyes flicked up at the girl when she spoke, asking him what kind of stuff he wrote. He didn't really know how to explain it, because he didn't ever write about one thing. It was really just a big mess of stuff.
"Oh, well..uhh, I don't really know how to explain," he told her, repeating his thoughts out loud, "It's just...random thoughts, really. I write what I feel and sometimes it doesn't even really make sense. I'll pick some stuff that's not so weird for you to take a look at. And if you don't want to use some of it, that's alright. Just give it back when you're done." He realized that he had begun to ramble and Lucas shut himself off quickly. Retracting his hand from the squirrel, it took its usual place of scratching the back of his head, the way he did when he was nervous. The Ravenclaw was certainly nervous right now. He'd just offered some of his most personal work to this girl that he barely even knew but was already starting to have feelings for. That was a scary though. Lucas wasn't one to really get too attached like that, but here it was. And it was happening.
"So uh...how are you going to keep Sammy? In a cage or something?" Lucas asked, pushing the conversation in another direction.
