"Okay, I'll give you the pens part. But what about...." Beni pondered for a moment, trying to top the trivial nuisance with another one. "Muggle paper? They always seem to give me cuts on me hand," she held out her hand, showing a recovering scar that rested vertically on index finger, climbing down to her knuckle. "I'm a cljmsy mess at times, but ast least I don't get cut as much as parchment. Muggle paper is so white and... just boring."

"White with black ink creates the greatest contrast," Kellen explained, though he'd never really thought about it before. He scratched the back of his head for a moment. "I'll give you the paper cut thing, though. Those are pretty awful."

"I'll give you the black and white thing as well," Beni nodded, satisfied with the mutual agreement on accidental self-mutilation by office supplies.
"Where were you heading to?" Beni asked all of a sudden, "Better yet-- where were you hoping to go? I don't think that we've got a lot of luck with directions."

Kellen thought for a moment. "I'm just trying to get my footing around here again, you know?" he said, as he realized he wasn't exactly going anywhere. "So, noplace specific. What about you? Maybe I can help. Probably not, but maybe."

"Maybe you can help me," Beni said, as she leaped foward from her leaning stance. and steadied herself into walking a straight line along the hem of the carpet that stretched out towards the depth of the hall. "Great Hall's closed for food and I'm bloody starving. Perhaps you know where I can get some chow?"

"Unless one of your mates in Gryffindor keeps a secret storage of food," Kellen started, "Which they probably do, by the way, your best bet is the kitchens. You're about three floors too high for that, though. I think. What floor are we on?"

"Arithmancy's on this floor, me thinks... so... Yeah, we're on the third floor. Are the kitchens on the same level as the Great Hall?" She asked, thinking that she might as well learn her Hogwarts geography while she was at it.

"Kitchens are in the dungeons," Kellen stated. "Hidden behind a painting. Technically, students aren't allowed in there, but everybody knows where they are anyway," he said. It wasn't a well-enforced rule and, based on the fact that even Kellen had broken it, it really wasn't an important rule anyway. "If we find our way to a staircase I can take you down there."

"See, you still got it, ya veteran!" Beni nudged him in the shoulder in the same congratulatory tone. "Considerin' that I wouldn't know how to get past that painting, I will need assitance to get to some grub." She moved some hair out of her eyes and started to walk down the corridor in search of the nearest staircase.

The two came to a crossways hallway. "I think the main stairs are..." Kellen trailed off, trying to find his bearings. "That way," he concluded, pointing their right. He started down the hallway, but stopped after a few steps. "Er, maybe it's the other way."

"Looks like I spoke too soon?" Beni asked teasingly, as she halted, but but bumped into him. Those were the hazards one had to face when they were wandering. Digging though her pocket, she took out a sickle. "Okay, we'll toss a coin. Here it goes," She tossed the coin as she called tails for the left, and waited for it to come back down.

Kellen watched as the coin fell to the ground, landing on heads. "I guess right it is, then," he commneted. "Maybe I was right all along. Ha! Get it? Right?" he said goofily, purposely making much too big a deal out of his own stupid pun.

Beni tried to hold back her laughter as she looked away and picked up her sickle, "Er... I don't know you, old man." She turned back, though, her smile back on her face.
"Right-oh!" She said as she linked her arm through his and started to skip towards the right, whether he was ready or not.

Kellen sumbled at first, but soon joined in the skipping. "What is this, the yellow brick road?" he asked. "We're OFF to see the wizard! The wonderful Wizard of Oz!" he sang, maybe a little off key and far too loud.

Indeed, Kellen may have been off-key, but so was Beni when it came to skipping and singing. "BECAUSE BECAUSE BECAUSE BECAUSE BECAUSE!" She hollered as she joined in, happy to hear it ring down the halls and even a few complaints. (forgive me if I got the wrong lyric of the song )
