The frustrated look on his face confused the blonde, why did he look like that? She hadn't told him no, she was just...she couldn't believe something she'd been thinking about for the last few months, he'd done on his own accord. Watching him tug at his hair made her rethink what she'd done. What had she done? She didn't tell him no, though she didn't say yes either, she was too surprised to do that. But things were going well, they felt completely right, so why did he look so upset? And with himself by his actions?
Looking down at him, she gave him another confused look before she reached out to pull his hands away from those wonderful curls she loved, and in the process stretched her body out beside his once more. She wasn't sure why he was apologizing, he hadn't done anything wrong, though she realized he might not know that. It'd been a while since his hands had last gone there, and maybe he didn't know she thought about letting him try again? He had just surprised her this time, because she'd thought about it, and then he'd done it.
"Hey..." she drawled slowly, leaning in to kiss the corner of his lips lightly. "Don't do that to your hair, and don't be sorry." There were a number of times she didn't want him to tell her he was sorry, when he did things he didn't know about, she didn't think he needed to be sorry. How was he to know yes or no unless he tried? Gently pushing at his hands, she guided them just past her hips, letting them stop there on her command, sliding her hands back up to his chest, and she laid her head down on her arms, snuggling under his chin.
"It's all right, I don't mind," she whispered softly.

She replaced his hands and he just looked at her, still confused but feeling a strange thrill at the same time. If it was okay, then why had she pulled back so quickly?
But in reality, that wasn't the main reason he was concerned. He hadn't even really realized where his hands had drifted, only that it felt good having them there. "Still," he told her, not sure she would understand what he meant but feeling like he needed to apologize for following the lead of something other than his brain. He kept his hands where she had left them and took a deep breath, smelling her hair and trying to calm himself down. " I wasn't thinking. I was... just... wanting... I'm glad you don't mind, but I don't want to do something we aren't ready for. I was letting it get away from me and I'm sorry for that."

Still
Felicity lifted her head slightly, propping her chin on her crossed arms so she could look at him. What was wrong? The tone of his voice told her something was wrong, but she didn't understand what. She wanted him to try it, had wanted him to for a while but couldn't think of how to tell him without sounding really odd about it, and obviously he wanted that too, otherwise he wouldn't have placed his hands there to begin with, right? It felt strange, where his hands were placed, being as she hadn't allowed him to do that before, but it didn't feel bad strange, she liked it.
When he explained to her, she didn't think she understood. Wasn't it good that he was wanting? It meant he still liked her, didn't it? And she knew he wouldn't ever cross a line she didn't want him to, and those little one's he tested he stopped when she told him to. It was rare she had to tell him not to do something, he was always so careful with her, one reason she felt safe with him. And she didn't know what he meant at all by his last comment, about something getting away from him.
Shaking her head, the blonde locks swayed gently around her as she looked down at him, trying not to fall too far into his pretty blue eyes. "Drew, I don't understand. Are we...are we doing something we're not ready for?" she asked, unsure if maybe he meant that he wasn't ready for that kind of kissing, and to place his hands where he had, but they'd done that before, had he changed his mind? Did he think they were moving too fast? It didn't sound right, being as he didn't seem to mind before, and he hadn't moved his hands.

"No!" Drew answered hastily, shakin ghis head and looking at her with wide eyes for fear that she'd change her mind or start thinking he didn't want to. That was the problem. He wanted to and a whole lot more. "I mean... I don't think we are.
"It's just... sometimes I don't want to stop. Sometimes, I forget we need to stop," he told her, wondering if he needed to go into details. He thought she might have a good idea what was going on with him, considering it took him a while to think straight after they had a good snog. Even now, when what he probably needed more than anything was a good cold shower, the nearby fountain seemed to have gotten a little stronger splashing in its basin.
"I just... I don't know how far I'll go sometimes." He had a good idea which line he'd be trying next, but he was pretty sure she wasn't ready for him to go there yet. "I'm just glad you don't get mad when I try something is all." In the end, that's what it boiled down to. He would eventually try that line just like he had tried all the others, and if she wasn't ready, she'd redirect him. It was kind of nice knowing he could try and he wasn't going to get slapped for his efforts.

The sudden answer frightened her a little, jumping with the word he quickly ushered. Honestly, the blonde didn't think they were moving too fast, she liked the pace they set. Sure, sometimes it felt a little too fast, but they always slowed down if she wanted to, he was good to her and understood when she said something, she meant it. So if she didn't like something, he didn't do it, not that it was often he did things she didn't like.
Listening to him, she tried to pay attention, knowing they had to talk. They had to talk about this if he wanted to talk, and they still had to talk about everything from last January. What he said concerned her, not wanting to stop was all right, sometimes she didn't want to stop kissing him either, but forgetting? Lifting her chin, she peered down at him with a look of confusion. They couldn't forget about stopping, they needed to remember that they had to stop. It was all right not wanting to, but they couldn't forget not to.
"We can't forget," she told him right away. Felicity knew they couldn't, it wouldn't be right. Sometimes things felt too right, but she knew forgetting wouldn't be right. Forgetting would mean so many things neither of them were ready for. Or was he ready? They hadn't talked about it in a while, but last time he told her he didn't think he was, so they'd agreed it meant he wasn't. She knew she wasn't. "We can't, we can't ever forget, Drew. It's all right to not want to, sometimes I feel that way, but I don't forget. I'm not ready for something like that, not for a really long time," like when she was married, if even then. "I'm not going to get mad at you for trying, because how can you know unless we've talked, or you've tried? I just, I don't want you to try that."

"I know, I know!" he told her hastily, actually relieved that she seemed to understand what he was saying. When his brain was in control it was easy to remember, but sometimes that wasn't the case.
"That's what I'm sorry for, for forgetting. Right now, I know I have to stop, b ut sometimes all I can think of is how much I want to go," he told her, knowing this hadn't been the first time and quite possibly wouldn't be the last. The good news was it sounded like she wasn't about to forget as easily as he was. "But if you remember... if you promise to remind me... I'll stop. I promise I'll stop before we get there."

Nodding her understanding of what he was telling her, she gently moved up and brushed his curls back away from his forehead. What he continued with made her wonder how much he really wanted to go, she had moments when she didn't want to stop, but she always remembered they had to stop. It was important, if they wanted to be together then they had to remember that, otherwise, she feared and knew, they wouldn't be allowed to be together.
"I promise," she whispered. "I promise I won't forget and I'll remind you, because I'm not ready Drew. I don't want to go there, not now, not for a long time. I mean, I love you, I love you a lot, but I'm not ready for something like that, not even with you. And you're the only person I want to kiss like that, but I'm just...I'm not ready."
He would stop, she knew he would. Drew was a nice boy, and he loved her, so he'd make sure not to do something like that if she told him no.

"I know. I'm not ready either," Drew assured her. He knew it probably sounded contradictory but sometimes when he had her in his arms, feeling her soft lips on him, smelling her hair, looking into those gorgeous brown eyes, the warmth of her hands on his chest... well, when that happened, he really wasn't thinking about whether or not he was ready.
"Thank you," he told her with a grateful smile, moving his hand up to lightly trace her freckles. He would do his best to remember, but it was good to know she'd be patient if she had to help him.

Relief swept through Felicity as she looked down at him. He wasn't ready. At first she was wondering if he'd changed his mind, but she really hoped he hadn't because they had to be ready together, not one and not the other. Together. It was important they were ready together if they wanted to be together some day, and she knew some day she wanted to be with him.
Closing her eyes, letting her eyelashes flutter when his finger traced her skin, she sighed deeply, loving the feel of his touch on her skin. Leaning down, she placed the most gentle kiss on his lips that she could, before she pulled back and looked down at him again. He was extremely adorable, and she knew she was lucky that he loved her and let her love him. He was perfect, even if he didn't like hearing that, she couldn't think of another way to say it.
"That night you left..." she started, looking down at him, needing to continue and finding this the moment to do so. "I hid in the bathroom and I couldn't leave. Celina found me and I told her we had to leave."

He felt her sigh and he closed his eyes as she kissed him. His heart had slowed to a somewhat normal pace and the need to dive into the fountain was slowly passing. He was the luckiest guy in the world and wasn't about to do anything to jeopordize that.
She pulled away from the kiss and he slowly opened his eyes to look into hers, wanting to just lose himself in her gaze. She went back to that week in January, and while he wasn't ready to go there yet, he knew it was important to let her if she was.
"I know," he answered softly, hating that he couldn't be there but knowing that appologizing for it again wasn't going to go anywhere. "You were scared and I wasn't there."

Terrified. Not just scared, she was terrified. Those men had taken their protection from them, their wands were given up, they were enclosed together without proper sanitation and medical help for those who weren't feeling very well. Drew had been kind enough to let her into the boy's room once, to let her wash and clean up a little which made her feel a little better, but then he left and she was alone.
Nodding, Felicity refused to take her eyes from him. He was there now, she needed him right then, what if he had stayed and something had happened to him?
"I told her we needed to leave, and she finally agreed. We planned it out, right there in the bathroom stall, we had a plan. We were going to slip out during dinner the next night and rush up the stairs I knew we could do it, Celina and I ran up and down those stairs all the time when we were practicing to go into the forest that one time, and I knew we could do it. So the next day, at dinner, she went out the doors and I was to follow a few moments later. When I got up, I went over to the doors, and she grabbed a hold of me and wouldn't let me go. She told me that man was waiting for me, and she forced me over to him, and Celina was forced, too, by some guy."

It hurt him to hear it, but he knew he had to. He hadn't been there when she needed him the most and she hadn't trusted him enough to come and get her. In the end, she had gotten hurt and while Shaw was to blame, so was he.
"I should have been there," he told her, unable to keep from expressing his guilt. He wished she had waited for him to come back for her, but if he hadn't gone in the first place she wouldn't have felt so desperate to leave.

"No," she whispered softly, lowering her gaze. "What if you were there and something happened?" she asked him, her eyes starting to tear over. "What if you were hurt because of me? Or because of someone else? What if you had stayed and something worse had happened? What if someone else had gotten hurt, Drew?"
While she hated what she had gone through, the following whispers afterward, the broken friendship between her and her best friend, her feeling like all she and Drew did was argue, but she would never want someone else to go through it.
"And he broke my squirrel, that little one you gave me, the quartz, he smashed it on the floor."

Someone had gotten hurt because of it. He could handle if something happened to him but the thought of her going through what she had was unbearable. He didn't say anything though, not wanting to side track her story with a debate on what ifs.
He nodded in response, feeling the pain of her ruined treasures almost as badly as she did. He had given her the squirrel on their first date and its destruction felt like a little part of him had been smashed too. He had wanted to replace the trinkets, but wasn't sure how she'd feel about it, especially after she had gotten so upset when he tried to give her his bear.

Letting her gaze slowly lift back up to see his eyes, she watched him for a moment, not saying anything. She could still feel that man holding her in place while she tried to wriggle free, the woman searching her pockets for an alleged wand the blonde had all ready given up, finding in her pockets instead her clear squirrel Drew gave her on their very first technical date, the necklace Lucas gave her to reconcile their friendship, and the bear Drew bought her the day he asked her to be his girl, when he made it final that he wanted her and no one else.
Blinking furiously to keep back the tears, she gently touched his cheek, allowing her fingers to caress his skin. "And then he tore Sammy's picture out of my necklace, and gave it to that girl." Felicity didn't know who it was, but she thought it was a girl, otherwise why would he give her a necklace? "And I tried to keep him from doing it, I asked him not to. And then he had my bear, and I asked him, I asked him not to hurt it, and he didn't."
It was whispered, but Shaw didn't hurt her bear, but he pocketed it, she watched him do it when he turned to her telling her it was enough, turning to Celina.
