"I know you don't want me to be, and I don't want to be either," she told him sadly. Being mad at him would get her nowhere, and she didn't want that. Felicity loved Drew with all of her heart, but she knew that no matter what he did, she'd never be happy that he had to leave. No, she didn't like being mad at him, but that was how she felt when he'd left, mad, angry, upset. But it was something she would have to get used to, because it was his job to help people, not to leave her. And though he would be leaving her, it wasn't because he wanted to, it was because he had to do his job and do it correctly.
"But I can't be happy that you're going to leave and go do something dangerous that could get you really hurt. I never want to be mad at you Drew, but I'm always going to be a little upset when you leave because I don't want you to. I know you have to, but it doesn't mean I'm going to be glad you're going."

It wasn't exactly what Drew wanted to hear, but it was something he could live with. He thought he could handle her being unhappy with him having to go, as long as she wasn't mad at him because of it.
If he was really going to be an Auror, and yes he still wanted to be, he would need to leave. He didn't want to leave her, but he wanted to do his job and couldn't do what he wanted unless he left.
"If I know you won't be mad at me... and that you know I'm going to do everything I can to come back... and that you're going to do all you can to be safe... then I think I can do it." It was a lot of stuff to think about, but he thought they could do it.

"No," she answered him softly, shaking her head. "No thinking. You have to do it. You want to be an Auror and you have to be one because it's your dream. If it wasn't your dream then you could think about it, but it is you dream, so you have to."
While her dream was different, he had to follow his, no matter where it took him or how many times he had to leave. As long as he did what he had to to come back to her. If they were still together. And even then, he had to go back to who he was with. Being an Auror was something he wanted badly, and though she badly wanted him, he needed to do what made him happy first.

Her confidence made him feel better about everything. There was no thinking, just doing and if he had to do it, that was almost a confirmation that they could handle anything. There was no if about it. They would do it.
He wrapped his arms around her and leaned into her. He wasn't feeling as pumped as he had been earlier, but he felt better about the whole situation. He would trust that she'd try to stay safe and she'd trust that he'd try to come back. If they both trusted each other on those two things, he knew it would be okay.
