Sonja was quiet for a few minutes as she thought up the best way to ask what was really on her mind. She didn't want to be blunt and make Scott hate her if she was wrong, but she wanted to be firm and straight forward. Not knowing what to do, Sonja just shrugged.
After being silent for a few more minutes, Sonja came to a conclusion and decided to just ask. "Scott," she said, "I know how charming you are, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so. You're so nice and sweet, but I was just wondering. Am I the only one you do that to, or are there others?" She had just decided to be blunt and get it over with. It was better than going on with a possible lie and getting screwed over.

At Sonja's initial response, he was still worried. That response wasn't one of the greatest he'd seen as an answer to 'did I do something wrong?' After a few minutes of awkward silence, he was about to say more when the princess finally spoke. Flabbergasted at what she had to say, he started to flush slightly, was she complimenting him? However, the tone of her voice didn't say so, it seemed she was leading to somewhere else.
"Well, I try my best to be who I am with everyone," he replied still a bit confused. She had called him sweet, oh how he dispised being called that. "If you mean to say I'm charming then yes, I am that way with everyone." Scott paused and sighed heavily, it had hit him where she was going with this. "If what you are really asking is something else, mind telling me what's on your mind? What question you're not asking?" he figured it'd be best to get right to the point on this.

Sonja realized that really hadn't been quite clear with what she was trying to get at. For a moment, she was just going to say it was nothing and to forget it, but her curiosity got the better of her. "When I said others, I meant other girls," she said quietly. She hoped he wouldn't take it the wrong way and think that Sonja thought he was just a player (which he probably was) but she just couldn't believe that she was the only one who struck his fancy.

"Other ladies?" he asked, slightly confused. Of course he was nice to all he could be, it was just his way. The path he thought she was leading him to went that way, and he didn't see how she wasn't going to keep on this particular track. "Well, yeah, I guess I'm myself with them, too." Didn't he just say he tried to be himself with everyone, didn't that include young ladies as well?
"Sonja," he said gently as he smiled at her. "If you mean do I pull out all of my cards on other girls besides you, the answer is yes. That's just how I am, I like people, be they young ladies, children, or just guys. I pull out every card with them, just like I do with you." Honesty was the best policy, wasn't it? "And if you mean: do I mean it for all of them, the answer is no. I do mean it for a few select, but not for everyone. Compliments are meant to be given, but there are only a few I truly mean them for, and one of those few includes you." his brown eyes searched her green ones. "Now I have a question or two for you. What are you really getting at here?"

Sonja sighed. Either he was intentionally being awkward, or he really didn't get what she was trying to say, which frustrated Sonja. She took a deep breath and just blurted it out. "Look, Scott," she said, feeling a lump in her throat, "I really like you, ok? And what I'm trying to get at, very inarticulately, is do you see us going anywhere. Do you see a relationship in this at all, or are there other girls and you're just trying to figure out which one you like more? You said you mean it for a few. Well a few is not good. You have to just mean it for one. And if that one isn't me, I can accept that, but I just need to know for sure." She looked into his brown eyes and sighed again. She had hoped for something a little less blunt, but that was the way it had come out.

Scott listened to every word that came from her beautiful mouth, though the words repeating in his head were "I really like you, ok?" That was all he really needed to hear, but he continued to listen to her. No reaction on his face, that would be too easy to read what he thought.
After she finished, he nodded his head, she was right after all. "Well, when I said a select few, I mean for those I truly cherish as friends. When I said you were included, I meant you are one of the cherished friends." he wanted to tell her, but wanted to wait just a moment longer. Scott slid down the bench, right next to the girl. he looked into her eyes, it'd be best said if she could see his eyes as he told her what he needed to. "Sonja, I really like you as well. And everything I've said to you, or about you, and even every thought I've had about you, I've meant all of it."
With that, Scott took his chance. Gently he touched her face with his hand, and touched his lips to hers. It was soft, gentle, and that's the way he wanted it to be, he just hoped her reaction would be the same.

Sonja listened to what Scott had to say. She was just about to open her mouth and say something back when Scott touched her face. His touch was so gentle and warm, and it made Sonja tingle all over. It was like nothing she'd ever felt before. Not even with Daniel. Still, she tried to speak, but was cut off when Scott leaned in towards her. Sonja wanted to fight it. She wanted to push him off and run away. But she wouldn't. She couldn't. It felt too right to walk away from it. Sonja put her hand on his chest, but didn't pull away or push him back. Instead, she grabbed his shirt and pulled him in closer. If a kiss was what he wanted, a kiss was what he was going to get. Then a flash of Daniel's face crossed Sonja's eyes. She nearly pulled away, but stopped herself. She really didn't want to. Whatever had happened with Daniel was in the past, and it was dead. Sonja had moved on. And surely Daniel wanted someone else. Beni could have him now, if she still wanted him. But Sonja's head didn't agree with her heart. It was like a screaming match between the two that went something like this. Run Sonja. You don't want this. You're not ready for something like this. RunNo Sonja, stay. You want it. You need this.No you don't. You know you can't handle it. You know it's gonna end bad.Listen to your heart Sonja, not your head. Listen to your heart...Sonja listened to her heart and stayed. She was glad she did. Finally pulling away, Sonja looked into Scott's eyes and smiled. She still wasn't sure if she could trust Scott, but at that moment, she didn't really care. She touched her lips and giggled, Blushing slightly. "Wow...," she whispered. ((My epic novel of a post ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) ))

When Sonja had grabbed his shirt, he couldn't do anything more than smile. At least she wanted it, or seemed to want it. However, right after their lips touched, he could feel an uncomfortable wave come from her, maybe it wasn't what she wanted? That thought didn't leave his mind, but at least she didn't pull away. he allowed himself to fully enjoy the entire experience, the first kiss was always the best one, at least in his opinion.
When she pulled away, he was afraid she was going to tell him it wasn't meant to be, but she surprised him. The princess was smiling, blushing, and giggling? Well, that at least went well for Scott. A smile spread across his lips at her reply. Wow is right, he thought.
"So," he began as he looked at her. "Was that a good wow? Good enough that maybe it could lead to a yes?" he asked teasingly.
((and a good epic novel it was for Scott))

Sonja was intrigued by his question. He had said it in such a teasing voice. Sonja raised an eyebrow, still smiling and inquired. "A yes about what?" she asked slyly. If he was looking for something more than a kiss, he wasn't going to get it. Not any time soon and NOT at school.
Sonja searched his eyes and expression for an answer, but she didn't find one, so she just waited for a verbal one. Sonja couldn't believe what she had just let happen, but she was glad she did. Stupid head always telling her to do the wrong thing...

"A yes to a question I would like to ask you," Scott replied casually. As soon as the words had escaped him, he realized how they could be interpreted. However, Scott sat in silence, just taking in all of the pretty girl's features. his brown eyes roamed over her face, he knew she was doing the same thing, and that she was looking for an answer.
Scott stood up and walked back over to the garden, another flower had caught his eyes. After he plucked it, he returned to the princess. "Sonja, Sonja Sonja," he began with a smile. he offered his hand to her and waited for her to stand before he continued. Lightly, he tapped her on the nose with the flower and looked into her eyes. "I will give this flower to you, if you say yes to me." he smiled at her and paused a moment. "Will you, the lovely Miss Sonja Wright, be willing to be my seclusive girlfriend?" he asked as he held the flower out to her. Even if she refused, the flower was hers, no question, just like at the moment his heart was hers.

Lily had seen the whole thing. She had gone looking for Scott because she had something to give him - something she wanted to stay. Upon seeing him with another girl she had stayed back. What she saw not only broke her heart, it took it and it tore it right out and crushed it into a million peices. She thought she had a chance for once. She had thought he was different.
Cursing loudly, not really caring who heard her, she tore the letter she had come to give Scott into four peices and threw them on the ground. "I hope you're happy." She said, fleeing to leave with tears in her eyes.
Dear Scott free,
It's so confusing. I wish I knew what I felt for you. My soul has never felt so free or so light before - is this what love feels like? I think it might be. I've only known you for a bit, but I felt instantly connected to you. I instantly felt like you were someone I could trust, someone who wouldn't betray me. I haven't exactly had the best luck with guys, or in life, you know that. My last boyfriend pushed the limits, and for that and some other things I broke up with him. He told me I was incapable of love. You showed me otherwise. Scott, I think I love you. I've never felt this feeling before. I'm so happy it's unbelievable. I've never been this happy. Even when I was crying and scared and afraid and alone, I was still happy deep down inside because you were there and I knew you weren't going to leave me like everyone else had.
I love you, Scott free, and I mean that with all my heart.
Just Lily

Sonja didn't know what to say. She watched the girl come, rip something up in front of them and throw it at Scott. It looked like a letter of some sort. Sonja bent down and picked it up. She pieced it together and read it. The expression on her face turned from shock to anger in a matter of seconds. Looking up from the letter, Sonja glared at Scott. "What the hell is this?" she spat, throwing the pieces at Scott. She didn't even bother wait for an answer. Instead, she slapped him across the face. "You lied to me!" she yelled, crossing her arms. Sonja didn't know what to do. She didn't know whether to walk away, or stay and let Scott try to explain himself. Against her better judgment, she stayed.

((This really is not fair to Scott))
The voice he loved to hear was suddenly there. However, it wasn't at the best timing, and it certainly was not pleasant. When he turned his head, his eyes caught the girl, the delicate flower. "Lily?" he questioned. What was she doing there, at that moment?
Before he could get an answer from the flower, she ran. Oh no,, he thought. This wasn't right, and he knew somehow he did something wrong. Scott just stood there, before it even registered that she had thrown something at him. However, once Sonja threw the letter at him, he was shocked, to say the least. Especially after she slapped him, then accused him of lying. Without answering her, he read the letter. This really was not good.
"I..I..I," Scott fumbled for the right words. Lily loved him? She loves me? Involuntarily gulping, he looked up at Sonja, very confused. "I didn't lie to you," he finally managed to spit out. The flower he had held was on the ground, he'd dropped when he seen Lily. Why did she have to do this? "I didn't know anything about this." Scott was ready to hyperventilate, this was wrong, this was not what was supposed to happen. Of course he liked Lily, he liked her as a friend, that's what she was to him, a friend. he did think about her as more than a friend once, that one night. Yes he liked her, but she was too fragile, he needed to be her good friend before anything could possibly happen between them. he didn't even know she felt that way about him, how could he have known?
"Sonja, I swear I don't know anything about this." his words were the truth, and so was everything he'd said before. Every word was true. he was about ready to break down, this was not good. This was scary, his best friend just confessed she had feelings for him when he'd been blind to all of it. And now Sonja was angry. This wasn't going to turn out well. No matter what he said or did, this was not going to be good. he looked at her, he wanted to cry, what happened?

((I concur. It's totally not fair to Scott and Sonja's gonna spaz a little, but she'll forgive him ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) )) Sonja paced back and forth, to angry to even speak. She couldn't think of anything to say. She wanted to just run away so she could go cry in peace, but she stayed, holding the tears back. "How could you not know about it?" she spat, "How could you love you, and you had no idea? You must have spent time with her, right? Now, it's just an educated guess but, my money says you pulled the same stuff on her that you did with me!" Sonja continued to pace. Sonja snatched up the pieces of the letter again and looked at it. "Scott free? Just Lily? What, you even have little pet names for each other two?" Sonja yelled, this time her voice was a little shaky, and she had to stop talking and look away before she started to cry. She was rubbing her forehead with one hand, and the other one was on her hip. She couldn't force back tears any longer and she hated that someone would see her like this. You are so not Sonja Wright anymore, she scolded herself. Turning back to face Scott, a single tear rolled down her cheek and she looked him right in the eye. "Tell me again. Look me in the eye and tell me straight out that you didn't know about this. Tell me truthfully and you might get a yes," Sonja managed to choke out, before the tears started coming down harder.

"Yes, I spent time with her," Scott said very solmnley. "But I didn't even know she had feelings for me, other than wanting a friendship. I don't know how I couldn't have known, maybe I was just unwilling to see it? Maybe it was because I wanted her friendship?" the last bit wasn't a lie, though he didn't tell the whole truth either. Of course he'd thought of her as more than a friend, but he also knew that she needed a friend before anything, and that's why he turned a blind eye to her and her feelings. "And I don't pull things, Sonja. I try to be myself, and I was myself with her. I'll always be myself with her, if she's willing to still be around me."
Lily had become his best friend, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for her. However, this little fiasco was hurting him. Sonja was there, he almost had the pleasure of calling her more than a friend, then Lily appeared out of nowhere. Now it seemed he was left high and dry without a best friend, or even a friend.
"They're not pet names, Sonja. That's how she introduced herself to me, that's what I call her. The Scott free thing she calls me came from a discussion we had, they can be considered nicknames, but they're not pet names." They weren't, though they could be considered so. This was really going down hill for the boy. Scott ran his fingers through his golden locks, he felt like tearing every single strand out. he was just really nerve-racked, and it didn't help when Sonja looked away. Oh don't do that. Please Sonja, look at me.
When Sonja turned back, he felt a bit relieved, though not enough to make him feel better. At that moment he realized, he shouldn't be standing there. Lily needed him, but he couldn't move. How was he supposed to even comfort the flower? This was a deep hole he'd dug himself, and unfortunately it seemed there was no way out.
Scott looked up at Sonja, right to her eyes. It hurt to see the single tear stroll down her face, what was he going to do? "I swear, Sonja. I swear I didn't know anything about this. I knew she wanted to be friends, I didn't know she wanted anything more." With that Scott was ready to choke, he had to do it. "Sonja, I really like you, I do." Scott leaned down and picked up the flower he'd dropped moments before. "I want you to have this, no matter what answer you decide on." Scott hadn't taken his eyes off of her yet, nor did he want to. Scott prayed he wasn't doing something he'd regret. With Lily, he didn't think she was ready for an interest, really he didn't think he would even come close to being in her interest. Lily was so fragile, he didn't think she was ready to date another, especially so soon after breaking up with the one she was just with. he disagreed with the what her boyfriend had told her, Lily was more than capable of love. That was obvious. Unfortunately, Scott managed to hurt the flower, and he didn't know how he was going to be able to salvage things with her. he knew he would have to go after her, but he didn't want to pressure her, if he gave her a bit of time, maybe she'd decide she wasn't ready for Scott. Maybe it was just bad luck, maybe she decide it was false thoughts she had. Even that, Scott didn't know how'd he deal with it.
