Kellen paced the courtyard as he read over the letter again. He really, genuinely didn't know what to make of it, but he did know, at least, that he was going to be distracted by it for a while. Even with that thought in mind, though, he still managed to walk almost directly into someone without realizing it. [Very Open ]

((Alright, being gone for so long has caused me to go on rp overload I swear . . ))
Causing Lily to go sprawling on the ground. "Distracted much?" She asked Kellen in a genuine voice. She wasn't trying to be mean or anything, she wasn't really all that upset. There might be a bruise on her butt tomorrow, but she would live. She picked herself up and dusted herself off. It was rather odd actually for Lily. She appeared so calm.

Kellen looked up, er, down at Lily with surprise. "Oi! Oh, I'm sorry, Lily! Merlin, I can't even watch where I'm going," he said, though the last part was mostly to himself. He folded up his letter a couple of times and shoved it in his pocket, before offering to help her up.

"It's alright Kellen," Lily reassured him. "Trust me I've probably done the same thing more than once. I'm fine don't worry about it." She gave him a breif smile but it was fleeting. "Whatever you were reading must have been very important, either that or very interesting."

Kellen gave a small smile, though that he wasn't exactly thrilled probably showed in his face. "I'm going to put it in the 'both important and interesting' category, I think," he said, his eyes glazing over at the thought of its contents again. "It's a letter from my sister," he offered. He wasn't sure if he believed what she'd written yet, so he wasn't sure if he should tell what it really said.

"I didn't know you had a sister," Lily said lightly. "Older or younger? What's her name? Is she magical too? Oh wait, aren't you from a muggle family like me? Yeah, I think you are." Lily shut herself up very quickly. She felt kind of akward rambling on like that as she did.

"Yup, Eden," Kellen said. He realized he'd been pacing for a while and was getting a bit tired of standing for no reason. He took a seat on a bench a couple of feet away before continuing. "She's about your age actually, just turned fifteen last month. And yes, she's a Muggle, like the rest of my family."

"That's a pretty name," Lily commented, sitting down next to him. "Is she well? And your brother as well? I remember he was sick, did he get better though? Or isn't he with us any longer, I know you had been worried about that." She was quiet for a bit. "That seems like such a long time ago doesn't it?"

This time, Kellen's smile was genuine. "Kearney's doing loads better," the boy said. "I mean, he's not, like, perfectly healthy or anything, but he's nowhere near the brink of death anymore either. He's living in London now. And, he's dating a Healer from St. Mungo's, so he's having a pretty good time of it."

"That's grand," Lily said with a smile. A real smile. Something she hadn't really felt capable of in a long time. "I remember you were worried about that. I'm really glad he's okay. He means a lot to you I can tell that. Does your whole family mean so much?"

"Sure, they're my family," Kellen answered almost automatically. He'd had issues with them, of course, and he didn't go home for holidays that often because it was feeling less and less like home. But still, he really did love them. Another thought struck him, along with everything in the letter. "Even if we're not related by blood. They're my family."

Even if we're not related by blood. Kellen had said. Wait, what did he mean by that? "I know this might be a weird question," Lily said quietly. "Are you adopted or are you just talking about how you have magical blood and they don't?" She was slightly confused, but open-minded.

"We're adopted, all three of us," Kellen explained. "My parents tried to have kids, you know, but they couldn't. So they adopted. That's what this letter is about," he added, pulling said letter out of his pocket. "My sister says that last week a woman showed up at my parents' house claiming to be my mother."

"And is she?" Lily asked. "I mean, does she have any proof? And do you want to see her? Is she magical too?" Lily stopped herself. "I'm sorry if that's too many questions. You don't have to answer them if you don't want." She wasn't trying to pry, she was just truely very interested.

"No, don't worry about it, really," Kellen insisted. "It's the same stuff I've been wondering for the last hour. I guess my parents sent her away really quickly, before she could show any proof, or whatever. And my sister didn't think she was magical. Like, they told her I was away at a boarding school, right? And she asked which one. They wouldn't tell her of course. But, if she was magical, she'd know I was here, right?"
