Nothing but silence. Nothing but him showing her the body language that he either no longer cared or didn't want her there, could very well have been both. Nothing more than the shattered glass of her heart sinking lower to the pit of her stomach while her eyes watered more and more. She was just making it worse, and she knew it.
If she knew what he was thinking, she probably would've gone off, again. There was friendship there, just not the kind she wanted. The closeness she felt they'd had in September just felt like it was missing, she wanted to find it again, because she wanted to find him again. Next to his friendship, she wanted nothing more than to be with him, but she didn't feel she could do that when she didn't feel like the basis was there.
"You know what Drew?" she started, not bothering to hide the fact she was breathing, or so hurt. "Forget tonight. I obviously can't do or say anything to make you understand what I mean and I don't want to fight with you anymore, at all. I'm sorry, but I can't do it."
Pulling his hat off, she pushed it into his hands and walked away, toward the spot she wanted to be at. The one that would let her sink into the mud to never be found, and no one was going to save her.

He stood there in the rain for a while before sinking down on his knees into the mud, still holding the hat in his hand. He had woken up this morning with a girlfriend and now he had nothing.
She didn't want to be with him. He was fully confident of that. The realization hurt like hell. It wasn't going to be easy, and he didn't like it, but he hoped he'd eventually get over it.
But not today. Today he'd find a dozen apples and make sure he was still in the Trophy room at 6, no matter what she had said.
