Allegra's head moved but it was unclear what her response was. She wasn't even sure. She had been Prefect, and Captain, and Head Girl, and she had been through a dozen emergencies at the school, but this one seemed very personal. The Deva had attacked her family and now they were here in the school, the one place that had always been safest above all others. It just didn't feel very safe any more.

Sarsha's scream had joined the others at the loud bang. The small girl still wasn't used to Hogwarts and all its noises. At the first noise she suspected the girl Lianna was talking to to have blown something up (Sarsha wouldn't put it past her) but then a mans voice spoke up and a parade of faceless (were they people?) figures entered into the room. Lianna had grabbed her arm and pulled her down under the table. Sarsha followed, no reluctance within her at all. She small girl shook with fear. What was going on?
Sarsha remained dead still, wonderng perhaps if she had made the right decision in not telling her parents about the danger's within the wizarding world. Tears rolled down her round cheeks. She was scared. She could hear argueing somewhere in the hall, yell's from other people. She remained dead still. To scared to even move to give them her wand. Sarsha had it on her, she had been told when she first came to always carry it everywhere. It was in her backpack with Kyles present. She didn't keep it on her person.
The man told them to eat and Sarsha assumed he had departed, but she could still hear trouble above the table. Lianna was trying to speak, but Sarsha kept quiet. she was terrified. Seanna asked how they were and Lianna fnally managed the word 'dinner'. Sarsha couldn't reply. She was scared. However Seanna began passing down some food. Bread, chicken, meat pies, cake. Sarsha finally moved, she shuffeled a little close to Lianna to make some more room for Seanna. The tears still rolled silently down Sarsha cheeks. She had a sudden urge to be back home with her parents. She had never had to rely on them before because she had grown up with servants and maids doing all the stuff for her and her parents just giving her money when she needed it. She really hadn't ever had to deal with any trouble. "W...what do they want..?" Sarsha said really quietly. "I...if its money.. m...my daddy..." her voice trailed off. It was unlikely these people would come to the school for money. The small girl didn't know what to do in a situation like this... Sarsha looked to Lianna, terrified. What were they going to do. She didn't want to live the rest of her life under a table..

"Ya, I'm a firstie." she replied. "But what could you have been busy about? It's not like we have as much work to do as older kids. Then again, we really can't perform too much magic except for lumos and wingardium leviosa."
"I was busy," Brenton replied shortly. That was all he could say, how could he tell her he was having trouble with magic, he was supposed to be great at this stuff, it was supposed to be easy, not hard. The Prince Charmings always got it easy, except the girl, there was usually something wrong with that part of it. But, he'd promised Mrs. Fortune he'd be one of the men from her beloved fairytales, so, he'd have to put up with the girl being difficult.
The food appeared, as it had so many times before, and he helped himself to sweet potato pie, meat pie, beans, and some candied yams. The food was so good from this place, back home the only time he could get this kind of filling stuff was from Mrs. Fortune's kitchen, and it'd been a couple of years since he'd been able to do that even.
Shoveling a bit into his mouth, he nearly choked and ended in a coughing fit when the door was blasted. Bloody. Some people came through, but wait...were they really people? They looked like people, except they didn't have faces! Where were their eyes, noses, and mouths? They looked like those scary robbers, except at least with them you could usually see their eyes. Maybe they were aliens?
But then, one of them spoke, and he didn't say anything about taking him to their leader, instead, he demanded their wands. Well, Brenton didn't see how this was going to keep him out of trouble, or to give up his worst feared secret, that he was poorer than dirt. Instead, he held his wand close, until one of the scary men demanded the girl's wand. That's when he decided he should be nice for the girl.
"Leave 'er alone," he told the man, his words sounding braver than he felt. And although she'd thrown the wand at the floor and dove under the table, he felt bad. It wasn't good when a girl was scared, even he knew that much. Right after Claire, he dug his own wand out of his impressively clean robes, tossed it on the table, and dove under after her.
"Are you okay?" he asked, hesitating to say anything, in case she got mad because he had seen her actions of throwing her wand and then heading under the table. He too, heard the man's words, but Brenton didn't feel much like eating anymore either. It sounded like a little scuffle was going on, and he heard the older kids telling them to eat, but he didn't think he'd be able to.

Devin had to resist the urge to attack the man as he stupified his colleague, but resist he did. If he were to attack now who knew what would happen. The only way he would attack would be if it was a direct threat to him or a student... well unless it was something cruel. He was sure though that the staff could handle being stupified. He eyed the man carefully, almost wishing he hadn't thrown away his wand. Though throwing not handing his wand over would be worse for sure, right now the only one who had anything to fear was him. He quickly looked back at Allegra as his ears picked up on her quiet words. Devin would love to comply, but the students would be safe if they took his words seriously. Either way he pitied her, it was obvious that the girl was terrified, she was still young and it was expected.
His attention may have seemed like it wandered, but there was no wavering. Brady was completely aware of what was going on at all times. And though he might not be in complete control, he still had some control, because they feared him. And fear was a virtue for sure. As long as they were afraid of him, or worried about him, he held some power.
You remember me don't you Auror? You remember Old Schmidt.
"Yes I am well aware of who you are. Ex-Death Eater, a complete lunatic, someone who has no self control. A big weakness if you ask me. And I will have you know I'm not an auror any longer, I'm a professor. And as it is my job to protect these students, I will protect them to any extent that I have to." He wouldn't move till the man understood what he meant, but he had said what he had to. Looking back at Allegra he tried to let her know that he was done, but in doing so he made what himself seem unaware, a perfect target in some minds. For Brady however, it just was exactly as it was stated, he seemed like the perfect target.

Larissa was overly excited when the food appeared before her. For the young girl, this was her first feast at hogwarts, and Larissa couldn't be anymore excited. "Oh Jetty. That's sounds really fun." She exclaimed to her companion, a Jethro Stevens, also in his first year. "HI!" She said with her mouth full of lettuce, to the new boy that joined them. "So Keagy... What year are you in again?" Larissa gulped down some pumpkin juice and smiled, she was happy just being with her friends, especially Jet.
Then, when the oak doors blew apart, Larissa screamed. "What?! What is happening?!" Maybe this was just a routine thing, expected at all feasts. But by the look of the man, Shaw, (she had read about him in the papers) it was not. Why had he come back, what remained here? Surely it couldn't be for spite, could it? Larissa slipped her hand into Jethro's and squeezed it tightly. He seemed somewhat afraid, so did everyone else, and that's when Larissa knew for sure. This was no joke.
As a fat tear rolled down Larissa's pale face, she looked at Jethro. She hoped that if nything, they would stay together, as she needed someone to be with during this ordeal. Although the man had spoken, and said they could eat, looking at the food made Larissa feel queasy, and she wanted nothing more to sleep. That's when there was a muffled croak coming from the inside of Larissa's cloak. Rufus was still only small and fit in the palm of Rissy's hands, and that made her want to keep him safe even more. "Jetty." She whispered. "What do I do with Rufus?"

Vanessa mind was racing and he ears were ringing. Still she heard Shaw tell them to eat their dinner because that would be it until morning. She noticed that her tears had stopped falling, it came to a point where she just couldn't cry anymore, even though she wanted to. She then decided to wipe her eyes with her napkin and looked at all the food all around her. Her stomach was all in knots and she knew that she couldn't eat.
With the younger students under the table, she couldn't help but wonder how much safer they were and tried to but that thought out of her mind. She started to place plates of food on the floor for them. Just because she couldn't eat, doesn't mean the young ones couldn't.
When she picked up her head again, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that Krissy was moving toward Mark, who was under the table, and Alex was following after her. She decided at that point to move closer to them, because they might know more of what to do.
She moved her lips to say something when she got to them, but nothing came out. With all of the crying she did, her throat was dry which made it impossible for her to speak.

Celina just sat there, after Alfonz had left, Drew went back to speaking with Hiro and Celina was just in a horrid mess. Could that really have been her brother? But he'd never join such....looking up at the staff people her body shuddered. That faceless man was ruthless, and antagonizing Brady something fierce. Where she believed he deserved something, she douted it was being hex or anything by a Deva member. Moving slightly, Celina turned around, getting her legs out from under the table. No, she wasn't going to get up or do anything stupid, but she had to move. Her body's anxiety levels had rose so much, she felt as if she couldn't breath.
Was it truly Alfonz? Why was he there? To protect her? Then from what? A tear flowed down her cheek as she noticed he was no where to be seen. Taking the ribbon from her hair, she looked at it and examined it. Maybe it was a fake...wasn't the real thing. But then how would that man know who to give it to...or what it meant?
She needed to walk around, to get out of there, but she was too afraid at that moment to even move. Horrible time to want to go to the bathroom...

Drew had been keeping Hiro up to speed but hadn't forgotten the girl on his other side. When she shifted around, making as if to get up, he quickly turned back to her and put a hand on her arm to stop her. "Where are you going?" he asked, obviously concerned that she was trying to leave. He didn't want her anywhere near the Deva, especially that one man.

Post by Krissy Fleming on Aug 27, 2007 12:03:52 GMT -5
Krissy was using her brains at the moment more then Alex thought, but more to the point she was moving ahead further then most were even considering at the moment. Krissy was like that, she spotted the problem and instead of stewing over it for a while she instead moved onto how big the problem actually was and how to get out of it. Throwing the potato was testing limits to see how far exactely the lines had shifted, yet it seemed they hadn't moved far. Sure it could have turned out much worse then it had and Shaw could have turned and killed her on the spot. However she had ben confident enough that he wouldn't do that, and that if he did shoot something at her she could produce a sheild charm to give her enough time to get away from the others. Anyway, had he shot a spell at her, at that time most of the students still had their wands on the table in front of them. Had a complete war broke out, sure though a couple may have been killed, it was likely the large mass of students, even though they weren't fully trained, would probably have been able to overthrow the deva. Afterall... there were what, like 5 students to each member?
However her main thought in her head, now that she had dicovered some lines still in place, was to check on the young Huffles and make sure all Huffepuff's were okay and were going to be okay. Krissy didn't hear Alexander's protest as she had left his side. She really didn't care right now what he did. Had she been there and watching she would have been interested to see the glare shot from Alexander to Mike, however, having gone to see Mark she saw none of this.
It wasn't until she had spoke to Mark that Alexander had reached her and was speaking to her again. She didn't know how he couldn't understand what she was talking about. She had been pretty clear about it all. Why had he folowed her? She wasn't his girlfriend. Perhaps he was too scared to try and cross the hall to visit the blonde. Krissy glanced away from Mark momentarily and instead over towards the Gryffindor table, her eyes falling upon the girl she had seen with Alex. "I can see if he's alright on my own you know.." Krissy said rolling her eyes slightly.
Krissy glanced back at Mark momemntarily and decided to do what Seanna had done. Krissy glanced around the hall, checking the positioning of the faceless. They hadn't come closer to her yet. Krissy grabbed a plate of chicken so she could take it down to Mark. She glanced back to Alexander. She hadn't meant to sound so mean. She gave him a slightly appologetic look. She was a little stressed, even if she wasn't letting it show, and he had kinda pushed a couple of her buttons. Not to mention she couldn't sake the slight sence of annoyance because of him and that girl, but she still couldn't work out why. "If you want to help.." she said softly, feeling rather bad about how she had treated him "You can grab some food and bring it down here. Just so that Mark has some stuff to eat. I want to talk to him for a bit... your welcome to join us.."
Krissy glanced around once more before ducking under the table to join Mark underneath. "..owah..." she accidentely let out quietly as she went under the table. She had forgotten about her broken ribs and so had forgotten moving like she just did hurt. She winced in pain with the noise. Krissy caught her weight with her free hand, which happened to be the one with a bandage on it. She had landed it on Alexander's foot though and her hand clenched tightly as it hit because of the pain from putting her weight on that wrist. It was likely Alex would realise she had just done something to hurt herself. However Mark was likely not to understand but she'd prefer it that way. Not that he would be able to miss the bandage around her left wrist. Krissy placed the chicken and the salad on the ground between her and Mark making sure she left enough room for Alex to fit down there next to her too. "Here." Krissy said, pushing the plate of chicken in Mark's direction "You need to eat something." Krissy tried to keep the note of pain out of her voice and tried to ignor the sudden throbbing that was going through her wrist and ribs at that moment. Krissy hoped Mark would tell her he was okay and that he would take some food. She hoped Alexander would join her under the table. Though she didn't plan on staying there she did want to make sure Mark was okay.

"I don't have my wand," he answered her, his voice making it clear that he thought it was stupid to carry around a piece of wood that, in his hands, was totally useless. Now he kind of wished he did have it. Then he could have given it to someone who could actually use it properly. The scary men moved away and Jeremy bent over Emerald, whispering that it was all going to be okay and that they were going to be safe. He thought it made the cat feel much better. The platter of chicken was sent down and Jeremy carefully took it, putting it on the floor between Hannah and himself. Now that the Deva people had moved away, it wasn't as scary, being under the table. Kind of like a camp out actually. He split a drumstick with the cat in his lap and smiled at Hannah, feeling a little braver now. "See if you can get them to send down some pumpkin juice," told her. Hannah wrinkled her nose at the platter of chicken. That's all they were going to get? Sure, she could see if they could send them down some pumpkin juice, but it'd be faster if she just got up and got it herself. Nodding in Jeremy's direction, she went over to where Drew's big feet were and pulled herself up in the middle of where Drew and Hiro were. Hannah was only small, only short, anyone looking over probably wouldn't see her at all, and if they did, all they would see would be a head of dark blond hair. Eying a bacon and tomato quiche, she quickly grabbed that and slid it underneath the table to Jeremy. Spotting a pitcher of pumpkin juice, she grabbed that as well and tried not to slosh it everywhere as she passed that underneath the table to Jeremy as well. A strawberry cheesecake was sitting in front of her and taking that, she ducked back under the table putting the cheesecake on the ground. "Next time, it's your turn" Hannah grinned widely at Jeremy, the fear she felt before was slowly dissipating and she took a slice of the quiche. If they were going to be stuck underneath the table until morning, they might as well play a game of dare to take their minds of things.

Artemis had also left Under the table though he had taken a moment to look at the staff Table where he saw a faceless man Arguing with Professor Brady and Jam-blows, then there was a flash of Light and Jam-blows fell to the ground and the Faceless one spoke more with Brady. Art rejoined Fyona, Topside Ignoring Mick, he had ducked under thinking curses were going to be thrown. Now that risk was minimal unless someone did something stupid, which Artemis was considering. As he gathered his head he knew Fyona was desperately shaken merely by seeing her eyes. He decided to wrap his left arm around the small of Fyona's back as if to remind her that He was here and he was going to protect her which he would do. " I promise I will get you out of here." Art whispered to her softly before he resumed piling food on his plate one handed, He wanted More food so he wouldn't get the 'munchies' while he watched over Fyona during the night. He also slid a goodly amount of food in his pockets, he quickly wrapped a large chunk of roast beef in a paper towel and slid it into his pocket knowing that meat gave good energy as well as some of the dessert fruits he had selected.

(It's Obi-wan Drewnobe!)
"Going to leave any for the rest of us?" Hiro joked as one of the table munchkins popped out of hiding to snatch several things and ducked right back down.
"It's good that everyone remain calm, the best thing to do at this point is to keep one's head about them." He said this back to Drew as he finally stopped fiddling with his fork and took his first bite of the meal. It wasn't as good as he was expecting. "What we do need though is a way to communicate with the other tables. The more information we have the better it will be for everyone."

She looked then at Kyle. He was so young, only twelve. She couldn't let anything happen to him. She had to protect him, no matter what the cost to herself. He should not be facing this event that would potentially traumatize him for life. "Kyle, listen to me." She whispered, her voice low and urgent as she turned towards him. "Do not do anything other than what they say; use the brains I know you have as a Ravenclaw." That was supposed to be a message that he would keep his wand if he had it, because, of course, any wands they could commender from whatever sources would be helpful. "Stay where you are, but if I tell you to do something, do it all right?" Lily didn't want to tell him to go under the table; she was hesitant to go against that much more visible part of the order, but she would push him under the table if necessary. She itched to draw her wand, but knew she had to stay calmer than that. She clenched her fork hard in her wand hand, because it prevented her from going after her wand. Kyle could not believe that. One moment he was happily eating and stuffing himself silly, the next hell broke lose (sure he's not supposed to swear but there's really no better way to describe this). He heard Lily, and gave up his wand unwillingly. She's right, he couldn't possibly put up a fight. Not with his skills, not with what he knew. However, from the look of it, he's very certain that someone would eventually do something. And all he could do now was to not be in their way when that happened. He glanced over at the Hufflepuff table but did not see Sarsha, and frowned. Hopefully she's somewhere safe. Perhaps she's in her common room, where they had trouble finding. Then again, that's almost impossible. If they could break into Hogwarts, they could do almost anything. "This sucks," he whispered back to Lily, now moodily munching on some bread. "Really."

Milo sat quietly at the end of the Gryffindor table, now wishing he hadn't. He could see Larissa and Jet just a little ways away from him but was too frightened to move closer to the group. His fork was clutched in his tiny hand as he watched over his shoulder, looking at the faceless people who'd blown their way into the Great Hall. That was the way to ruin dinner. And Milo had been starving.
"You big bullies!" Milo complained, a little louder than he had meant to. He was too scared to move, yet not scared enough to keep his trap shut.

No, Lily thought, resisting the urge to bash her head against the strong oak. She had wanted Kyle to keep his wand, not give it up. No one had approached her about hers and she was glad, for once, that she small and looked not as old as she actually was. She would pose quite a threat and it might come in handy for any distraction, in case they wanted to use a younger student for that, because she could easily pretend to be one. She tried to keep her face calm, while her insides were screaming. She had noticed, however, that there wasn't a bathroom and they also might use this to their advantage.
She had been watching everything she could and looked around, and now realized that it would be better for Kyle to get under the table and stay there like everyone else. Protect the younger students first. "Kyle, I want you under the table okay. I'll pass you some food. And yes, I know it sucks." Welcome back to Hogwarts, Lily. Maybe she was a bad luck charm. She herself began to put a few rolls in her pockets. She grabbed her plate, which had chicken and some desert and food already on it, though untouched and added some more food to it. This plate she gave to Kyle, along with his glass of pumpkin juice.
She had seen Drew earlier and knew he was one she needed to talk to. He wasn't that far away from her, sitting on the opposite side of the table. She made sure Kyle was safe and then began inching her way slowly, moving a little every thirty seconds or so, as to not attract attention, just to make it seem like she was shifting position in her seat. She hadn't been far away and with the seats left by younger ones, there was plenty of space for her to move over. It wasn't that long until she was close enough to Drew to have a conversation in hushed tones.
"Don't look surprised to see me. Drew, Hiro," she said, nodding to both of them, talking as loud as her nerves would allow her two, which was somewhere in between a whisper and normal talking voice, but closer to a whisper. "I just got here today and I've kept my wits about me." Wits being code word for wand and she hoped they picked up on it. It was an easy of enough thing to say, as Lily was often prone to panicking, but she knew she had to be calm today. "What do we know? And . . .where's Raynor? Should we be worried about her?" This really did show how far she had been removed from the news. She forced herself to eat a roll, while she was talking, guess the skill of making yourself eat at times came in very handy, but the hands on either side of her mouth, also served to keep anyone from reading her lips. She also tilted her head downward to make it even harder.
