The man looked a Drew interested, this was obviously a kid, he could see it on his eyes but then the father interrupted his thoughts.
"Oh! Sorry! very sorry!" the man replied a little bit red "Edgard Diaz" he said shaking hands again with the man unnecesarily "I was one of the healers invited from here. The one that er... accidentally lost his portkey..." he said blushing slightly as still the shame of that chased him but also he had another intention at saying that, to know if the man would give him any detail and confirm his identity.

Mark shook the man's hand again, smiling as he did so, and he gave a small laugh at the story. "Ah, yes. That's a common problem," Mark told him, not sure he remembered the specific incident. "We use that old junk so the Muggles won't find it accidentally, but then there are times when we Wizards misplace them as well."
"A pulled out video case... was it?" Mark asked, suddenly remembering something. There had been a number of people and while he hadn't talked to all of them, he supposed he might have talked to Mr. Diaz.

"Ermmm... yeah I think you call it like that... yes! a fideo case" he said as his hand just tried to describe the size of form of it and the way he had called it in that time and could not help but laugh. But then he stopped and gave a look at the owner of the house.
"Why don't you come with me, Mr. Thornton. I need to show you something" he said convinced now of who he was and with an idea wandering into his head.
The other man choked with the drink and stood up looking bewildered at the healer. What on earth he was to do? But it was not necessary to be too clever to guess it, that man was to show the foreigner one their secret.
"I think you can help us in... a little problem we have, after Franco's dead" he said though not looking at Mark at all, but fixing his eyes at Franco's uncle, almost with a glare "you see, there is something we don't know what to do with, and... maybe you could give us some ideas" he said ignoring the other man's look. If Haruo had called the healer to help him, then it was time for him to trust in the healer's judge.
Haruo, looked nervous but still tried to show a cam face, though his hands were in a fist. What that healer was to do! Ask advice from a ministry employer. Of course it was a good idea of you really wanted to help the kid, but in his case... it just meant more problems. But he still had to pretend good intentions.

The man seemed pleasant enough, but Mark was wary about following Mr. Diaz, especially when he said it was related to Franco's death. Mark was starting to think they didn't know what to do with the body. How was the American supposed to help with that?
"Exactly what is it?" he asked carefully, looking down at the boy sitting next to him. Drew had latched onto him as soon as the man asked Mark to come with him.

The man blinked for a second not sure of what to say, specially with the kid there, it was obvious by just looking at him that it was a terrible day for him, but there were no way he would allow Drew to accompany them, not under the circumstances.
Then he smiled at the boy trying to calm him down with just that, it was all what he could offer to console him so far. "There is something that belonged to Franco and well... you understand..." he said giving a look at Mark hopping he would take it as there was something too painful to keep in that house or probably was something that could help Drew with the pain.
The uncle looked even paler, he knew that man since years, almost the same years as Franco has now, he had a good guess of what the healer was planning but was not sure wheter stop the man's attempts or not. Would it look too suspicious to waste the first chance to get the kid's safety away?

Mark looked carefully at Drew who seemed awfully skittish. The boy would jump off the roof of the house without a second thought, but at the moment didn't seem to keen on the idea of being separated from his dad.
"I'm just going to go with Mr. Diaz for a moment," Mark told his son quietly, looking at the boy carefully. If the man thought even for a second that the boy would be in danger, or even if Drew thought he himself would be in danger, he wouldn't go. Drew looked worried, a little scared, but nodded back. Mark lowered his voice even more, whispering to his son. "You know what to do if there's a problem."
Again, Drew nodded, his eyes wide at the thought of his dad leaving. But yes, he knew what to do. The portkey was in his backpack and if he needed to, he was to use it to go home immediately.
"Good mana," Mark told the boy, giving him another smile before standing up and approaching the healer. "What did you want to show me?"

"Please, follow me" he said calmly ignoring the asian man's look and leaded the way upstairs and then pulled the tapestry on the wall and opened the hidden door, closing it as they both entered in.
Then as they reached the bottom of the bed he just made a gesture to the man to look at the kid lying in bed.
"I have been able to keep him alive so far" he said as thought there was not necessary to explain that Franco was not dead "but he is very weak, I detected the poison just three days ago, and we still don't know where the poison comes from, he will not resist it if the poison get its way to him again... he can't even resist the antidote, we have to dilute it in water." he explained while left the man approach at the lying boy.
Meanwhile downstair, Haruo looked as the other two men made their way up and lit up a cigar, feeling already stressed, thinking of what was going to happen next. He smoked in silence, totally ignoring the kid, as if he was all alone.

As he followed the man, Mark glanced over his shoulder at Drew who was still sitting on the sofa. Drew tried to smile back, but it was mostly hidden when he swiped the back of his hand across his nose. Mark winked back and followed the man upstairs.
A boy who was about Drew's age lay on the bed, pale and still. Mark listened as the healer spoke, a little confused by the lie that the uncle had told and even more confused about what Mr. Diaz expected to happen at this point. "So, he's still in danger," Mark said, waiting for more information.
----- Drew sat on the sofa, his hands clasped tightly together between his knees. Every so often he'd glance upstairs, hoping his dad would come back quickly, wondering what it was that was up there. Something that had belonged to Franco.
Franco. Drew couldn't believe he was dead. It just didn't seem possible. Again, he swiped at his nose, sniffing this time and sneezing as Franco's uncle lit a cigar. It didn't smell very nice and only reminded him of the cigar he had tried to smoke with Ari. He had thrown up in the Quidditch ref's trash bin after that one. This one wasn't making him feel much better.

"Yes" said Edgard firmly as nodded his head at once. He still was not sure what Mark could do to help, but it was the first person from outside the country they had met during these weeks.
And downstairs, Haruo kept smoking while wondering what was going on up there. What that stupid healer was saying to the american man. How on earth he got in a situation like this, bad luck that stupid little boy sitting on the sofa worried about his 'stupid little friend'.
The man could not help glare at the boy as blow the smoke out his lungs "what is it now?" he asked not because he worried about Drew's look but because Drew was making noises that annoyed him.

Again, Drew looked towards the stairs, knowing it had just been a couple of minutes but still wishing they'd hurry. The smoke from the man's cigar was giving him a headache and hopefully the men would come back down soon so Drew and his dad could leave. The young Ravenclaw didn't think there was any reason to still be there now that Franco was dead.
Drew sniffed again, looking at the man sitting across from him. "N...nothing, sir," he answered meekly, feeling a sick feeling starting at the pit of his stomach.

"Keep quiet then! Mind you?" he said raising his eyebrow at the annoying kid. No wonder this was one of Franco's friend, pamper stupid kids the both of them, moaning because dad had gone for a minute! "Kids nowadays!" he mumbled bitterly as filled his glass again, smoking distractedly as his mind went back to the matter: what was going on upstairs, what on earth was Edgard telling the man, for Merlin's beards! And also, he should think in his next move, wondering how to answer Mark's question if he came up with them, surely he would ask questions like why he had lied to them.
But then his thoughts were interrupted as an owl dropped a letter on the table. He read the address and without even read he just tossed it a side. A second later his owl came and took it away.

"I... I'm not... doing anything..." Drew answered quietly, knowing he probably shouldn't talk back in such a way, but unable to hold his tongue when accused of something he wasn't doing. He bit on his lip and sniffed again, wishing his dad would hurry. Not only was this man getting mad at him for no reason, the awful smelling cigar was starting to get to him. The stench alone, a vivid reminder of his experience a few months earlier, was enough to make him feel sick, but added to the stress and dismay he was feeling, he didn't think he'd be able to keep it together until his father returned.
"C... can I... can I use your restroom?" he asked weakly, feeling like he was about to spew any minute.

Haruo growled exasperated as the kid spoke again. Couldn't he have a second of peace!? That was the problem with younger people, always think that their needs are above anyone else! The man glared at Drew not answering straight away but giving another go at his cigar, looking at the boy from feet to head. No wonder why Franco was so stupid, with friends like that!
"There!" he said nodding his head at the door just near the stairs "Don't make a mess inside!" he just said before turn again deep into his own thougths, deep inside hoping Drew would drown on the toilet and then the world will be free from one of those generation X people. He turned off what left of the cigar... but some seconds later lit another one.

The sinking, gnawing feeling in the pit of his stomach was getting worse as he worried about his dad and wondered about what had happened to his friend Franco. Drew wasn't sure why the man was so frustrated with him, but he also knew that if he didn't get to the bathroom soon, his breakfast would end up on the floor.
The smoke from the man's cigar curled up to the ceiling, smelling like the sewer line backing up and then baking in the hot sun. It drifted through the air, coating the boy's airway with the sickingly sweet smell of rot. As Franco's uncle blew another cloud of smoke, Drew tried not to gag and when the man finally indicated the way to the restroom, he stumbled as he jumped to his feet and ran towards the door, slamming it behind him.
Throwing the seat up with a slam, he just barely made it before the contents of his stomach left him.

He was hardly paying attention now for what when Drew slammed the door, the sound made him jump up and knock his drink over his shoes. He looked totally pissed now as placed the now empty glass back on the table and shaked his leg trying to throw off the drink over it. Then looked up at the door and glared while threw the cigar inside the glass.
"Damn kid! Don't slam the f***ing door! Open up!" he said as stormed toward the bathroom and hit the door with his fist, losing his temper "Get out of there little scumb. Open up! Gah!" he said frustrated ask kicked the door again.
