Franco looked up at the person covering him with a blanket wondering if that was real or just a dream. He tried to say 'thank you' but he was not sure if those words had came out his mouth or not, not sure if he had say it or just had thought about it. His jaw moved, that was all wht he could be sure of, but wheter he had got to article a single word, that he could not asure it.
The kid stared at the blur figure, blinking like drunk trying to catch a better look of th person but could not say for certain what it was, it was most likely just a dream, and then as thinking too much was getting him dizzier and tired he just stopped his attempts and sighing, closed his eyes for a little bit.

Knees pulled up to his chest, Drew rested his head on his arms, feeling like he just wanted to go back to sleep. It had been a tumultuous and confusing day and he just wanted it to be over. Maybe it would all make sense in the morning.
A slight shift on the bed got his notice and he looked up, rubbing his stinging eyes and wiping his resultingly wet hand on the carpet. The other boy's eyes were closed, but maybe he was really awake?
"Franco?" Drew called out softly, craning his neck so he could see, but not daring to move any closer to the bed.

Franco opened his eyes weakly as though he had heard his name being called and again started fighting to get an idea of what was going on around, fighting to keep the eyes open at they seem to act against his will and try to keep closed. The place though in blur did not look remotely familiar for what he still stuck in the idea that this was a kind of vivid dream. He did not recognized the voice once again as it sounded still distorted.
Unable to raise his head, he tried to turn it a little bit to a side trying to find the person that had called his name, but hardly managed to move it. And though he tried to answer back the call, even he was aware that he barely had made any noise, nothing that you could understand but just a murmur that did not sound at all like a 'what' which was what he had tried to say.
Then with another sigh he closed his eyes again, tried to catch his breathing and, seconds later, when felt he had regained some more strength he opened his eyes again and again fought to keep conscious and recognize the place.

"Franco?" Drew asked again, this time crawling a bit towards the bed. The other boy was moving around and made some noise, but Drew could tell he was still pretty out of it.
He was definitely alive which was almost like a miracle to the younger boy. Drew had spent a good part of the morning believing he'd never see the blue-haired Peruvian again. But now, here Franco was, breathing, moving, making groggy noises.
"Franco!" Drew tried again, this time a little more insistantly. It was a horse whisper, but loud enough for the boy to hear if he was really awake. "Hey Franco! It's me, Drew. You okay?"

Franco blinked trying to get the image of the other kid's face into focus. Though he heard the boys clearlier this time, it still took him some times for his brain to process the information, the word Drew did not mean anything to him at first, it was just an strange word till he found a face and a voice for it.
He tried to tell him he felt cold but fine and ask him what he was doing there, where they were in the first place, but could not manage to article a reconizible word, he knew what he wanted to say but it was somehow impossible as if he had a babbling hex put on him. He sighed again tired of keep talking and tried to catch his breathing again.

Franco wasn't talking, but he was obviously awake. Drew wasn't sure if he was ready to listen, but the younger boy thought he'd tell what happened anyway.
"My dad and me... we went down to Peru to see you, 'cause you didn't answer my owls and I got kinda... well, I thought it was weird, y'know?" Drew started, still keeping his voice low, but speaking quickly. "And when we got there, this guy... your uncle... he said you were dead, but then this other guy talked to my dad and we brought you here." Drew wasn't sure he should tell Franco the part about being a puppy. He really didn't want Franco to know he had been patting him

Franco just half understand what the other boy was saying, just bit of phrases indeed and unlike the usual he was having some problems to get the meaning of the words straight away, not to count that Drew was talking so fast and Franco's brain was working so slow...
The sick kid frowned as did not understand why would Drew and his dad go to Peru because his owl was weird... and why they end up taking him instead the owl?. And after some seconds he thought better not try to understand it for now, that was too tiring, to think. And then the fatigue won this little battle and finally he just sighed and fell asleep again.
It had been a too busy day, fighting the poison's effects away, being transfigured twice that day, endure the travel by portkey... it had been a too busy day for his already weak strength.

By the time Drew's parents had returned with a tray carrying two bowls of warm soup and a couple of cups of hot tea, both boys were asleep, Franco on the bed and Drew on the floor next to him.
"He's staying there. I already tried to carry him once today," Mark said quietly, grabbing another blanket and placing it over his son. Lolly found an extra pillow and slipped it under Drew's head and while the boy stirred briefly, it was only few seconds before he was out again.
The following morning, Drew groggily made his down to breakfast, quickly ate a few bites and then made his way back to his friend's bedside, where he spent the next few days. At first, Franco slept a lot, and Drew would read a book or goof around with his Lego sets. After a day or so, Franco could sit up and talk more and as long as Drew's mom didn't start thinking Franco looked too peakish, the boys could play games or watch TV. It wasn't until a full week later that Mrs. Thornton even considered letting Franco do anything more vigorous.

Besides the pain, the weakness and the horrible potion he needed to take, the week had not been all bad, not as bad as weeks had been at home. The company of his friend for start helped him to keep more lucid most of times, hear someone talking and realize that as the days passed he understood better was Drew was saying, was somehow comforting as it took some of his fears away, a confirmation that he was not dying.
In second place, there were all those muggle things around that little by little got his interest as well. Curiosity was after all another way to feel alive. But the best of best was, after the week, though still he was not 100% recovered, it was a relief be able to take a shower... it was an urgent need he was able to do finally.
The kid went out the bathroom and jumped back on bed, his hair still wet, not wearing pajamas nor socks for the first time but jeans and a t-shirt only. And the first thing to do was to take the remote control and check that funny thing called T.V. He had not interest in a particular program though, but started zapping, pressing each button just to find out what all of them did.

Drew had heard the water running in the guest bath and had rushed into the bathroom that he and his sister shared. His mom had promised that Franco could actually goof off a little ("as long as you don't exert yourself too much" she had said) and Drew wanted to take full advantage of the day.
Quick shower, quick dry off, and tugging on a pair of shorts and a tee, Drew crossed the hallway to Franco's room, grinning as he saw what the other boy was doing. Franco always seemed to find the Muggle things around the Thornton house interesting and still hadn't quite gotten the message that you were supposed to stick with one show on the TV instead of watching the channels change.
With a running start and a forward flip, Drew landed on the bed, scrambling to his feet quickly and jumping on the bed next to the other boy, even though his mom would have killed him if she caught him trampolining.
"So what are we going to do, huh?" Drew asked excitedly as he bounced, seeing if he could bounce high enough to hit his head on the ceiling.

"Dunno..." he said shrugging then, after some seconds, dropped the remote control on the side table lazily. It was useless to try to check the TV now that Drew was there jumping on the bed making Franco bounce too. He looked up at the jumping boy wondering what he would be permitted to do. So far the only place of Drew's house he knew was that room and the bathroom, what other things were around and more important, what they could do, he was not sure.
"What do you want to do?... besides jump on the bed. Stop jumping!" he added chortling at Drew while took a pillow and threw it toward Drew's face jokingly. Though he would not say it, because he did not want to ruin any prospect of fun, the jumping on the bed made him feel a little bit dizzy by now that Drew was in the jump number 12.

"Hey! Wanna see something?" Drew asked, doing a final bounce and landing on his butt on the bed. He knew Franco had grown up in a wizarding house and probably didnt' think anything of some of the magical features that might crop up in a living place, but he haad never seen the Thornton's. And even though they lived in the middle of a muggle neighborhood, that didn't mean that there weren't a few modifications to the house.
Jumping off the bed, Drew dove under the desk, slipping through the hidden passage underneath. He wuickly came out again, grinned at the other boy and urged him to join. "Come on! We can go just about anywhere this way!"

"Cool!" Franco called out jumping out of the bed as well and quickly putting shoes on (no socks) "Wait a sec! wait... almost done!" he just said hurrying himself and then dove down too. He had thought that living in a muggle place that house would be a normal muggle one, it was just awesome to find it had secret passages too.
"Woah! this is soo cool! who made this... your dad?" he asked while followed Drew wherever he was going, it did not matter as long as he was able to wander around the house and did not have to stick in the room for the rest of the day.

The seating area of the desk made a tunnel of sorts and as soon as Franco entered the area, Drew ducked back into the secret passage, almost immediately coming outon the other side which was the cupboard under the big TV downstairs in the family room. Drew crawled out into the center of the room to make space for Franco as he answered.
"And my mom," he told the other boy. "We have 'em all over the house, just for fun." While Drew's grandparents had a huge place that needed secret routes, in his own home, they were really just to play around in.

"Awesome!" he could not say more than that while looked around. It was somehow exciting, not because he had not done something like that before, which he certainly had done, but because after 3 weeks sick in his room, and a week in the guest's room at Drew's home, it felt almost as escaping to freedom, it felt almost like going illegally even when they really weren't.
"Hey, let's steal food! I am hungry!" he said though he was not talking about real food but deserts. Being sick always mean eat hot sup and vegetables... his stomach was so much wanting to break the medical diet.
