Drew had his head halfway in the comode, but when he heard the man start yelling, the boy sat up and quickly locked the door. In his rush to get to the bathroom, he had left his backpack in the other room, the portkey safely inside but totally useless to him at this point. The man started cursing and yelling, pounding and kicking on the door and Drew shrunk up against the sink, wondering if the door would hold. If he had his wand, he could at least try to curse the man, but Drew's father had made him leave it at home. All the Ravenclaw could do was hug his knees and hope the mad man couldn't get into the bathroom.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" he cried out, shouting back at the man. He swiped at his eyes again as the tears came quickly and while he still felt sick, he was too scared to think much about it. Why was this man so angry when all he wanted was to go back home?

"You made me spill my drink over my shoe! But you even cared? No! Of course not! You kids never think about those things! Only ask and ask and screw things up! You all think one is here to please you." he said but no longer caring about Drew anymore, as long as he did not interrupt him again.
"And I thought that after Franco I would have some peace at last... and now you are here!" he said rolling his eyes while filled his glass again "Hope your dad comes down soon and take you away... I don't even know what on earth are you doing still here. Why don't you call your dad to go" he said just hopping that Mark would come down with no clue of what to do, give up and leave... and let him think how to make Franco disappear without have to kill him... that has been his big mistake, try to kill his nephew before read the will... but there were no way Mark could find that out... nobody could point at him, he has been very careful to not let any proof wandering around, and even after alert Edgard to come he had planted some fakes attempts so he and the healer would detect them and be off any suspect.

Drew hoped so too, maybe even more than the man on the other side of the door hoped for it, but the boy wasn't going to go so far as to call for his daddy, even if he was the twelve year old blubbering in the bathroom.
"I didn't do anything!" Drew shouted back through his tears, really wishing he was still a little kid who could yell for his dad... or maybe wishing he was older so he could carry a wand all the time and then curse the guy himself. The boy's stomach was knotting again, a sensation made worse by some severe hiccuping and Drew huddled into a ball by the sink, trying to get a grip and wishing his dad would hurry.

The man just rolled his eyes as the kid just keep talking as if he wanted a reply from him. Hadn't he got that he did not want to remember he existed? At least at that his nephew was a little bet cleverer to know when to keep his mouth shut. "You are breathing and talking... I think that qualifies as 'something'" he said then rolled his eyes. Brains like that!
But he did not care about Drew's doing really, but what was happening up there. Drew was just someone where to send all his frustration. How much were they doing up there? That stupid healer! The man thought and lit a third cigar. This was lasting too long... not good sign at all.

"I didn't do anything!" Drew cried out again, fearing for himself, but knowing that he was probably safe locked in the bathroom as he was. His father would come back soon and get him out and then they could go home where he could crawl into bed and be safe.
But what about this man who claimed to have been Franco's uncle. He was an awful man and Drew couldn't help but feel sorry for his friend who had spent his last days with someone like that. Had Franco been scared, or had he been used to being yelled at like this? Either way was not a plesant thought for Drew and he morned his friend a little bit more.

The man jumped up at the boy's yell interrupted him again and turned to glare at the closed door.
"GAHG! Shut up! d**n it!" Haruo shouted and threw the bottle toward the bathroom's door, which smashed against it loudly "What are you still doing in that bathroom anyway! You have been there enough to do.. whatever you was suppose to be doing!" the man called while approached toward that door again.
"What is wrong... crying because your stupid friend is dead? or crying for daddy to come? Get out of the bathroom now! sissy boy!" Haruo knocked loudly making the door shake on its frame.

The sound of the bottle hitting the door and shattering made Drew scream, positive that the man was about to break the door down. The boy didn't care what kinds of things the man was trying to taunt him with. Drew was scared and he wanted his dad.
"Leave me alone!" he shouted, wishing his dad would hurry. Unbeknownst to him, Drew's father was already there.
He had heard the commotion and though he wasn't sure their business had been completed upstairs, Mark took the steps at a sprint reaching the bathroom just as he heard Haruo speaak of Franco's death. Mark's son was yelling on the other side of the door and without a second thought the tall man grabbed Franco's uncle by the collar and pinned him agaisnt the wall. "I suggest you rethink how you speak to my son," he warned, not about to hit or curse the man... yet.
"Drew? Open the door. We're going," he said, not letting go of the man until his son was clear.
Carefully, Drew opened the door and peeked out, skittishly running to the sofa and grabbing his backpack again as soon as he saw his father. The sooner he got out of there, the better.

Edgard also raised up looked alarmed as heard the noises coming from downstairs, but it was Mark who reacted first and rushed out the room. The healer at first though in run after the other man, down the stairs too, but then thought better to finish what they had been doing and taking a small blanket he covered the little creature with it carefully, took it in his arms and slowly made his way down.
"What is going on?" he suddenly said stopping in the midle of the stairs, face paler as his eyes found Haruo being shoved against the wall by Mark.
Franco's uncle could just move his eyes up at the healer and some of his lost courage returned. He knew the healer would not permit a fight going on, no matter if he had to jump between the both of them.
"This is my house, and I speak to who I want how I want!" he snapped looking back at Mark struggling to get free from his hands "You are not welcome here!"

"Not when it's my son you're talking to," Mark answered back in a low voice. "If you have a beef about us being here, you can take it out on me, not him."
Drew watched with wide eyes, knowing that it was he, not his dad, who had asked to come down. If his dad got hurt it would be all Drew's fault. Of course, Drew's dad was pretty good with a wand and had about a foot on Franco's uncle.
"Daddy, can we go?" he asked timidly, hugging his backpack to him. At the sound of the boy's voice, Mark dropped his hold on the other man and went over to his son.
"Say good bye to Mr. Diaz first," he instructed, looking at the healer. They had come up with a plan that just might work.
Drew looked at his father and still clutching his backpack like a safety line, he went over to the other man and offered his hand as he had been told. "Good bye, Mr. Diaz. Thank you for having us." It sounded silly to say considering what had happened and it wasn't even the man's house, but it had come out automatically.

The healer looked in shock still for some seconds while watched Mark dropping Haruo to the ground. It took him just a one-second look to know that the asian man was not hurt but still was but as the boy approached he shook his head slightly and smiled at Drew.
"I have a little present for you" he said kindly as bended down a little to show him the little puppy on his arms "It is a little weak but with good care it could make it" he explained as let the kid have a better look at the little dog "Franco was taking care of him but, now this little one has no one. I thought maybe you would like to keep it?... Your father agrees..." he said at once trying not to look at Mark.
"what the..!" Haruo said confused not sure of what was going on "I told Franco to get ride of it, how he dared to bring to home a dog from the streets!" he said looking at the pair up the stairs as got up from the floor slowly. And then the rage he had feel that day came back again. Just like his father, Franco, bringing animals to home, curing them, that dog should have died with the mother in the birth.
"I found it hidden on his closet yesterday" Edgard replied just to cover up though that was not entirely a lie. He did not want to speak openly there with Haruo, in front of Drew. He would explain later...

Drew looked at the man carefully as he bent down and held the small puppy out to him. The boy looked over at his dad to see if it was okay and when Mark nodded and smiled back Drew carefully took the dog from the healer. Franco's uncle started going off again and the young Ravenclaw held the puppy closer, using the backpack to protect it. Drew backed up towards his father's side and Mark put his hand on the boy's shoulder.
"What do you say to Mr. Diaz?" the man prompted gently, ignoring the other man's tirade.
"Thank you, Mr. Diaz," Drew answered, looking at the healer. "I promise I'll take good care of him."
"We'll be off then," Mark continued, offering his hand to Diaz. "We'll talk more at a later time I hope?"

"Yes!" he said a little too much enthusiastic than he meant then walked the few steps down the stairs and shaking hands with Mark and as did that he slid a couple of packets on Mark's hands, it was crucial that Mark use them as he had indicated.
"Thank you for your visit. Hope to see you again too" Edgard say giving the man a look.
Haruo watched the pair of men with a suspicious look and then up to the stairs. What was going on? He wondered and not even bothering to say good bye to Mark and Drew he started his way up the stairs. Something was going really wrong but he could not say what it was yet.
"I will take care..." the healer muttered to Marks as saw Haruo's doings with the corner of his eye "If everything goes OK, don't write back" was his last words to the man and as soon as he closed the door, Edgard hurried up the stairs to explain everything to the owner of the house. He had to prevent Haruo of making a scandal of this.

Mark guided Drew out the door, thanking Edgard and assuring the healer that the directions would be followed as they had discussed. He glanced briefly at the uncle, but knew that they'd be safely home before the man found out what they had done.
"Keep a tight hold on him, Drew," Mark instructed as they walked back towards a more secluded spot in the jungle. Once they were in a safe spot Mark grabbed hold of boy and dog before reaching into Drew's backpack for the portkey. As soon as his hand touched the flat ball, they disappeared, leaving no trace that they had ever been in Peru.
The mismatched trio reappeared near Mark's office, located in a supposedly abandoned warehouse in the heart of Los Angeles. As soon as his feet hit the ground, he dropped the ball and placed both hands on Drew's shoulders, leaning down to get a good look at the boy who was still clutching the puppy.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you back there?" he asked seriously. He never would forgive himself if that had happened. Drew shook his head, but didn't say anything, looking up at his father with wide eyes full of fear.
"We're going home. You got the puppy still?" Mark asked, looking down at the dog still in his son's arms. Drew nodded back but still kept quiet. "Okay then..." Mark answered, leading the boy towards the offices. They only spent a moment inside, checking back in and then securing one of the cars the Transportation wizards often used around the city. Flooing would have been faster, but Mark didn't think either Drew nor the puppy could handle the trip at the moment.
Drew curled up in the back seat, cradling the puppy in his arms. His dad slid into the front seat and looked over his shoulder to tell him to buckle up.
"The puppy..."
"... will be fine. Buckle up," his father said softly before turning back around and starting up the car. Drew did as he was told but lay his head down, worn out from the trip and emotionally exhausted from what had happened. As his dad wove the magical car through Downtown LA traffic on his way to Malibu, Drew stroked the puppy and drifted to sleep.
Mark wasn't sure if the whimpers coming from the back seat were from the puppy or the boy but the kick in his back was definitely one of Drew's. Mark sighed, knowing he'd have to tell his wife about what had happened and one or both of them would probably be sitting up with their son as he tried to recover from a not so uncommon bout of nightmares.
The drive that would take over an hour was finished in less than half the time and as Mark turned onto the Muggle street they lived on, he flipped open his phone and told his wife. By the time he pulled into the driveway, she was coming out the front door, hugging herself and wearing a look of worry.
"Drew. Drew... we're home," Mark called softly, shaking the boy's shoulder gently as Lolly threw the car door open and bent down to stroke his head.
"What happened?" she asked, looking at her husband with an almost accusatory look in her eyes.
"Let's get them inside first," Mark answered, picking his son up in his arms. "Can you get the puppy?"
"A puppy, Mark?" Lolly replied, obviously confused and not happy with the addition of a dog into the house hold.
"S Franco's..." Drew answered sleepily resting his head on his dad's shoulder, his long legs hanging down. He was a few years past being too big to carry and Mark finally placed him upright on the ground, holding him up while he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. Drew finally looked up at his mother, a sadness she rarely saw in his eyes. "It's mine now."
That look in her son's eyes, how could Dolores Thornton say no? So she was surprised when it was her husband who answered. "We'll see..."
Mark carefully took the puppy from his wife and led them to the house. When he went upstairs and headed to the guest room, Lolly started to protest keeping the dog inside, but Mark turned back towards her with a look that begged her to trust him. She was silent until he placed the small puppy on the freshly made bed.
"Mark!" And again he looked over at her.
"Just wait," he answered her softly. "Drew, stand back, okay?"

Franco was not aware of anything but the pain he felt, the cold he felt and how painful was even to breath. He hardly cared about anything happened but that, he hardly could distinguish sounds but as distant noises that made no sense in his head. Everything looked and sounded like colored shadows and echoes, like unreal dreams and delirium.
Thus he did not noticed Mark and Edgard talking, nor when they put their plan in action... he did felt a funny sensation on his stomach at some point, a dizzy sensation and cold for some seconds... but he was not aware of what had been done to him, not even noticed when was removed from his bed and being carried a long way till the funny sensation repeated again when Mark Thornton pointed his wand at him again and transfigured him back to normal.
The kid hardly opened his eyes while moaned and trembled for a second. Everything looked blur and made him feel dizzy so he closed it again and tried to shut the voices off his head too.

Drew stepped back as his father told him to, but his mother pulled him back even farther and wrapped an arm around the boy. Mark pulled his wand and both Drew and his mother cried out in protest, but in just a few short seconds it was clear what had happened. The puppy was gone and there was Franco in its place.
"Mark?" Lolly asked, confused by what she had just seen and she looked towards her husband in the hopes of getting some answers.
"Drew, how about you go grab Franco a blanket and Mom and I will get him something to eat for when he wakes up, kay?" Mark suggested, leading his wife towards the door. Drew nodded wordlessly and pulled a blanket from closet. He looked at his mother who smiled and nodded back as she left the room. Drew took a seat on the floor and waited for his parents to return, staring at the bed. He thought his friend was dead, but there he was, alive. How did that happen?
