The word emotional did not apply to Tamis Raynor. Oh, all right, it was not suppose to apply to the Headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. So, to anyone that did not know her well, it was with a calm serenity that the woman observed the currently empty Great Hall with. For those that were able to see behind her false pretenses, she was two hairs short of being a hysterical woman. Pride, however, would never allow it. Therefore the Seventh Years and she were saved from the embarrassment.
To say this End of the Year feast was like any other would be a lie. The majority of the school population might agree that it differed in the fact that, for a change, it was a joyous one. With nothing more than a rather normal epidemic of the Dragon Pox weighing down the year, most of the inhabitants would leave for the summer with lighter hearts. There would be no need for heavy, depressing speeches this year to bore the students with. In fact, the Headmistress planned on making it rather brief. This meant, of course, that it would be just short of the normal novel.
Yet, her heart felt irrationally heavier than it had in any of the proceeding departures for the summer – and it was entirely for selfish reasons. Trying to get her to admit it verbally would be as easy as pulling teeth, but she felt a small part of her was leaving with the graduating class this year. Seven years ago had marked both of their starts at Hogwarts and both had, in a way, grown together. She had watched many of them transform from chubby cheeked first years into blossoming young adults ready to tackle the world. She was overwhelmed with a grief at the knowledge that they would not be returning next year, and yet, such a pride and thrill that it overpowered her dismay and yet did not quite mask it. It was an incredible feeling. She wondered if she would ever get to experience with her child by blood, or if she had all ready missed too much of her life. Quickly, she squelched the thought and focused on the task at hand.
The Great Hall was decorated as it was at the end of every term. The house tables were vibrant draped in the appropriate patriotic colors, the gold chinaware gleaming as orange beams of candlelit hit it. The High Table on its raised platform was pale in comparison in its simple unadorned wood, but the throne of the Head Person kept it from being slighted; the monstrous, stiff-backed beast Raynor was attempting to make look comfortable. Black Banners flanked the Hall, rippling in a nonexistent breeze against the mirage of the starry night sky outside, each bearing the Hogwarts Crest in its center. Once the champion for the House Cup was announced, the color would change, but for now, it remained neutral.
Everything was ready, emotional undercurrents were efficiently strangled, and all that was missing was the rest of the school. The Headmistress had not noticed that she had arrived incredibly early to the feast this year but no doubt the thought might occur to her as the Hall started to finally fill.

The end of the year was finally here. Delilah sighed when getting dressed for the occasion. Tossing on her regulation black robe with the Slytherin emblym stitched a top, also wearing jeans and a plain pink t-shirt underneath, just in case people were dressing more casual at this point, being it her first year here, Delilahw wasn't sure what would be appropriate, so she prepared for both.
Striding up the steps to the Great Hall, she managed to bump elbows with her classmates, and although no one said anything to her, she knew deep down, she'd be saying her fare wells sooner than wanted. She didn't want to leave this place and all it's magic, even if it was for just one summer, it was just too much. Delilah supposed she'd have to just make do, it's not like they'd appreciate a stray student, hanging around the castle during summer.
Delilah found a vacant seat at the Slytherin Table, and sat down carefully, really trying not to be a clutz on her final day here. She took in the empty plate and goblets and suddenly felt parched. If only a drink would appear in that goblet, she'd be able to smile. So far, she hadn't been able to come up with one. This was just such a sad occasion to be celebrating. They should be grieving!
Picking up the empty goblet off the table, she brought it under her chin and looked into the cup, searching for something, but like her summer, it too was empty. Wow, she really was starting to sound depressing. Maybe if someone would strike up a chat with her soon, she'd forget about her lonely summer for a few more hours. One could only hope.

The year that was Tianne's fifth at the magical school had come and gone so quickly. Usually she quite enjoyed her summer holidays, but with all the people that she was now friends with, and with all the seventh years that she wouldn't be able to see on a regular basis anymore would be gone, and well, it made Tianne quite sad, to tell the least. She hadn't been in a good mood the whole day, just knowing that the end of year was here, and there wasn't anything she could do about it.
It had been a good year, and that was all that Tianne wanted to think about. She had spent the day reminiscing her year at Hogwarts, her awesome party, the pool party, meeting more people that she could take count of, and the feeling that she got when she was asked to be a prefect. It was more that Tiannt could ever ask for, and she was grateful that she had been accepted in the school, although her first couple of years were spent alone.
Tianne had slowly packed her bags, going through everything, and laughing as she was reminded of something that truly bought her joy. She grinned at the presents that she had recieved, the outfits that she had worn, and the things that she had written, and basically, it was all too much for the girl. Throughout the day, tears were brought to her eyes, on the two hourly. It was better than bottling it up though; the last thing that Tianne would want would be crying at the Feast.
Although in a group, Tianne walked down to the feast, feeling as alone as ever. She had her bag slung over her right shoulder, inside a planner so she could hopefully catch up with people, some in particular that she would have to see, whether they liked it or not. Taking a seat towards the middle of the Ravenclaw table, Tianne looked around the room with a smile. Hogwarts always outdid itself; when you thought that it was the best, it just got even better. Noticing Delilah, Tianne was reminded of the twos' adventure to the kitchen, and again, she gave a soft laugh.
Placing her hands on the table, Tianne sighed, and rested her forehead on the back of her wrists. Please, let the feast begin.

Post by Henry Lordings Jr. on Sept 6, 2008 9:42:49 GMT -5
Henry had always found the End-of-Year feast to be a cloud in a silver lining; Always, it was the moment in the year when he felt worse than any other moment. It was and end...and a beginning, and for him, it was the beginning of the calm before the storm of the beginning of the end, or something of that sort. He had always rather found packing away his things something quite simple, but this wasn't like any other year, this was the first year in which he had memories that he truly wanted to savor, and couldn't find the time to do so. This year had yielded a number of people that, for his part, at least, he considered friends; Drew, Tianne, Matty, Zetta, Felicity, Jason, and even Tristan (though Henry wasn't sure that the friendship went both ways), and had heralded the delivery to him of an old friend in Eaden. This year had consisted of times which he wanted to remember dearly, and other which he dearly wished to forget, but all in all, a good year.
Not since his days in the great halls of Salem had he had friends of any sort; His loyalty to those friends had kept him well enough away from new friends, but that had changed, and he was glad of it. Blind loyalty to those with whom he had barely any contact anymore had been cast aside for a new guard, a new corps. of friends he could in a time of need. There were times that day when he wished he could just turn back the clocks, and do it all over again, if only just to relive the encounters; Butter-beers in the Three Broomsticks with Tianne, Chatting with Matty and her team in the Room of Requirement, Sneaking through the school after-hours with Zetta, Tripping over Drew's legs in the charms corridor; Even falling out of a tower window and barely surviving, and his run in with Cedar seemed marvelous adventures now.
All too soon, however, his robes were folded, his books were packed away, his potions things were secured, and his trunk sat, closed and ready to go, on his four poster bed as he stood in front of the floor length mirror in the corner of his empty dormitory checking his appearance. He had never really considered the end of year feast a formal affair, but this year, he was going to treat it as such, and dress accordingly.
He was wearing his finest white button-up shirt, over which he was wearing a fine suit vest and jacket made of a pin-striped black silk to match the pants into which he had tucked his white shirt. He wore a polished black leather belt, and matching dress shoes which he rarely dawned, and the fine gold chain of his pocket watch ran from the button-hole of the middle of the five buttons on his vest to the left vest pocket, in which was tucked the watch itself. A tie made of an ornately patterned red and gold silk was tied around his neck and tucked into his vest, and he had pulled his finest sweeping black robes emblazoned with the red and gold seal of Gryffindor house on the left chest over the lot. He normally didn't give his hair a second glance; as long as it didn't look as though he had just got out of bed, he was happy with it, but today he made sure it was in perfect order, and he had even soaked his glasses in a solution his mother had come up with which made the gold of the frames more vibrant than usual, and the glass perfectly clear. After making sure all was in order, and his spectacles perched on his nose where they ought to be, he turned on his heel, and, with one look back at the deserted chamber, closed the door behind him.
It took him all of ten minutes to get down to the Great Hall, however, when he arrived, he found it filling rapidly. Many people hadn't taken their seats yet, and were milling about in the Entrance Hall in groups, chatting and laughing, discussing what they might do over the summer holidays, and whether they should meet up over the break. Henry didn't stop to investigate these, but rather made his way into the Great Hall immediately; It was, of course, decorated to it's highest splendor for the evening's events, and a sea of black robed students, each with one of the four house crests emblazoned upon their chests, was rapidly swelling in the hall under the gaze of the Headmistress and those teachers that had already arrived.
As he entered, he saw several familiar faces, but caught the eye of Tianne only, and nodded to her pointedly with a smile. He turned toward the Gryffindor table, and quickly found his seat; Slowly, the empty seats around the hall filled, and other familiar faces came in; He waved to these, and those that passed by him, he even had quick words with before they headed off to their respective tables.

To Dustan the feast was like any other, it was the ending of something great, and yet the beginning of a new life. While he didn't really know any of the seventh years, other than in passing and hearing others call out their names, and of course the Head Boy and Girl and his house quidditch captain, but he didn't know any of them. But the overall effect of the feast wasn't hitting him nearly as hard as he was sure it hit some people. Being distant with most allowed him to keep from tearing up over goodbyes, his tears were saved for his stories he loved to read.
Walking to the Slytherin table, Dustan sat down near someone, he didn't pay much attention, more enthralled with gazing up at the ceiling to see what the weather was like outside. It reflected a number of emotions he was sure would rifle through the crowds by the end of the night. As he glanced around, Dustan caught sight of a girl near him, gazing into an empty goblet. Giving her an odd look, he wondered what she was doing. Maybe she took Divination class, he didn't know, he didn't take the class himself.
Glancing at her one more time, he was even quicker to revert his gaze.

His last feast at Hogwarts. For the last ten months, Drew had been listing all of his lasts and this one... well it was the last of his lasts, the final event of his seven years at Hogwarts. The bookend to his sorting where he sat on the stool, an oversized wizard's hat on his head, wishing he would be placed into Ravenclaw so he'd at least be with his big sister.
He was dressed much as he dressed for all of the great feasts: full uniform with pressed slacks, crisp white shirt, straight tie, polished shoes, and freshly washed robes. It was the last time he'd wear his school uniform and the last time he'd be sitting at Ravenclaw's table.
As he walked through the great oak doors, he saw Tianne was already there, and while she looked a little lost in her own thoughts, he still sat next to her and gave her a small nudge with his elbow.
"You ready for this?" he asked with a small hint of a tease as he pulled an apple out of his pocket and placed it in front of him. Dinner always took too long to get sent up and he was going to be starving in about 15 minutes.

Ever since her meeting with Delilah, Tianne hadn't experienced this feeling. It had taken her a while to actually realise what it was, and when she had, well, lets just say that it didn't bring her any joy whatsoever. She had purposely not eaten much that day, excepting, of course, her breakfast and a half of a sandwich at lunch, just so she'd be hungry when it came to the Feast, something that made it all the more exciting. She hated waiting for the food to get served, but when it actually did, the relief and excitement that swept through the hall was unbelievable; it made it all worth it,
Sitting with her head on her hand still, Tianne briefly lifted her gaze to the doors, making eye contact with Henry, a sixth year Gryffindor, and upon offering the boy a small wave and a grin, put her head back down with a sigh. Because of her antisocial behaviour at the moment, Tianne didn't really think that anyone would choose to sit with her, but adhering to the surprises that Hogwarts gave her, someone did.
Lifting her head back up as her shoulder was given a nudge, Tianne couldn't really see properly. She recognized the voice, and after yawning, Tianne was able to see Drew sitting next to her. Giving a small laugh as the boy teasingly asked her if she was ready for this, Tianne smiled. "Drew, let's be serious. Am I ever ready for anything?" She joked back, before changing her tone to a more sympathetic, slightly worried voice, Tianne tilted her head on the side questioningly. "How about you, are you alright?" She said, knowing that this was Drew's last ever, it must have been hard on him.

Drew laughed back and gave her another friendly nudge, knowing that Tianne could do anything she set her mind to. She was an awesome prefect and he knew he was going to be relying on her to keep things going when he left.
And while he trusted Tianne more than anyone else in the House, he fell back on a lie when she asked how he was. "Psh... heck yeah," he told her as if that were the only answer. "A couple more hours and I'm out of here for good! WOO HOO!" He raised his hands above his head to emphasize his point, but it didn't take long before he lowered them, unable to keep the act up for too long.
"I don't know if Felicity's going to make it," he confided in a low voice. Even if she wasn't going to sit with him, it would be nice if she came. "It's my last feast."

To be honest, being talked to had pretty much woken Tianne up. She had once felt like dozing but now she forgotten of it all, even the hunger that had filled her stomach just minutes before. Tianne wasn't the kind of person that would want to be alone, especially with all the people that were filling the hall, she always seemed to get envious of the other people. This was the first year that she had basically had anyone to talk to, Tianne was just upset that it had taken this long. But nevertheless, she was happy.
Grinning as the boy held up his hand in emphasis, Tianne wasn't really sure if he was being totally truthful. God, even Tianne cried, and she had two more years ahead of her, was Drew really this happy about leaving? Deciding not to pry, if Drew didn't want everybody to know, Tianne was one of those everybody's.
Giving Drew a worried glance, Tianne shrugged. "Hopefully she will. Let's just keep our fingers crossed, hey?" She said, returning the friendly nudge, giving Drew a hopeful smile. "They always take their time serving the food, though, don't they." She said, with a goofy grin.

"I just... I don't know if I can do this..." he said softly, looking around in the hopes that no one else could hear him. "You know? Even with all the stuff that goes on here at school, it's still a whole lot safer than it is out there. What if I can't do it?"
He sighed and gave a shrug, trying to shake off his mood. It was the end of the year feast and no one wanted him bringing things down. "So... you got plans for the summer?" he asked, hoping to lighten things up a little.

Hard to believe the year was at an end. It felt like it had just started, and Dante had mixed feelings about ending. Sure, he disliked school in general, who liked studying and being bored out of ones mind for months on end? Not to mention getting in trouble with professors on occasion. From Dragon Pox to breaking a nose, the year had been a bit rough for Dante in terms of health. Though if that was the worst thing that could be thrown at him, he would not complain much about it. His nose was still technically broken, but the black eyes had faded away to nothing, so he was looking back to normal at least. Of course the downsides always had something positive to counteract them. And in Dante's year there were many positives.
The mischief was entertaining, the friendships were welcome additions, and he could not forget Tallulah. Still there was more, the internship starting in just a few weeks would bring him far from his home, and from the rest of the school. He had played Quidditch, and actually been part of a rather strong team. And then of course, there was the fact that this meant he would be a seventh year. Which marked the start of his last year at Hogwarts. There had been nothing overly exciting, or tragic outside of the school either. So it was not just Hogwarts that was having a good year, but the rest of the wizarding world seemed to be having a good year.
His trunk was secured with his belongings inside, and a backpack full of everything to important to be in the trunk sat along side it. Ready for the long trip home, though he knew most of the necessities would not be unpacked once he got there. He only had a week before he would be back in the area, to Gringotts for his first assigned internship. South America, with the warmth, the sun, and the rain forest. Exotic, untamed, and new, Dante could not hide his excitement that he was so close to going. Well, he actually could hide it as he finished his packing, it just was not very easy.
In all it made perfect sense that there would be a feast to commemorate all the happenings, and not just because it was tradition. This year felt like the kind that just needed to be marked by everyone, and he wanted to be at the feast to mark it. So he made his way down to the Great Hall, taking note of those that were already seated, and those yet to make an appearance. He Made his way over to his fellow Ravenclaw, and found Drew, and Tianne. They seemed to be talking, so rather than barge in Dante made his way to a seat on the opposite side of the table, and two seats down the row from them. Close enough that he would not have to yell, but also far enough that he was not going to interrupt.
Oddly enough he had walked in with a large smile on his face, ready for the fun to start. Most seemed to want the year to keep going Dante knew full well that it had to end. People had to move on and embrace the summer, and the school year that was to come. Well, the school year to come for those sixth year and lower. Dante had no clue what all the seventh years would be doing by the end of the summer. He imagined it would feel strange to watch those just under your age go back to school while you sit at some job for the first time. He would know that feeling soon enough, this was not a time for such thought anyway. This was a time for celebration!

Delilah was so consumed with the goblet in her hand, she barely noticed the younger Slytherin sit close to her. She did look up though, seeing as he was the only other person there at the table, thus far. Delilah had to wonder what he thought of her at that point, probably some mental patient, just staring at the cup the way she was. She held back a laugh, she never really was good with first impressions, especially this one. Delilah put the goblet down and leaned closer to the boy, and grinned, "No, I'm not crazy." She said, putting her hand out, just in case he wanted to shake it, it seemed that this was the proper way to meet someone here at Hogwarts, even though this was the End Of The Year Feast, she was still meeting new people. "Delilah." She said simply, hoping this was enough for him.

Tianne was not built for sympathizing, that was for sure. She wasn't incredibly bad at it, no, but she wasn't cut out for this. She liked being there for people, and she liked feeling needed and wanted, but she felt so guilty all the time; was this was she was meant to be doing, should she change the subject, should she give advice? It was all rather overwhelming, but Tianne had no problem with it. She just had to control herself, Drew wasn't in the wrong, Tianne was.
Leaning back on her chair as Drew confided in her, Tianne didn't know what to do. Laugh? Definitely not. Smile? That could work. Offer Advice? It was risky, knowing Tianne, but it was the only plausible idea so far. "Drew, you are probably the most capable person that I know, you're going to do great and you're going to be okay. If anything happens to you, well, I'm just gonna have to kick their butts, aren't I?" She said, trying to lighten the mood with a joke. "Hogwarts will be different without you though." She said with a smile.
Looking down to where Dante had just joined the table, Tianne offered a smile, before switching her attention back to Drew. "Me, ugh, no. Well, I might be staying in London, I dunno. Hopefully something gets planned; I think I'm going to go insane if I don't see you guys." She said with a light chuckle, leaning back in. "How about you?"

If there was one thing that Maddy was looking forward to, it was the Summer Holidays. She couldn't understand why some were sad, they were going to be on break, for Pete's sake! Admittedly, Maddy didn't know anyone that wouldn't be returning after the holidays, and she was quite glad about that, but she still didn't see what all the fuss was about. They'd be going home to see their families, go on holidays, have fun, whatever, they'd all catch up one time of another if they were truly sad about the departure. Ah, there was no point worrying over it, as worrying wasn't going to change the world, no sirree!
Maddy had spent the day doing what she usually did. There was no difference in the day, it was the night that was changing. the feast was always fun, and Maddy had neglected to eat that day, just so there'd be plenty of room in her belly. She was just brimming with excitement, the girl's usually hyper, excited, over the top personality was being accentuated, maybe because she was extra happy, or maybe because everyone else was in a foul mood. Eh, it didn't matter anyways.
Singing a tune that only she could here, Maddy skipped down to the Great Hall. Her last feast before she was a third year, her first as a thirteen year old. She danced her way through the doors, noticing people that she didn't actually know, seeing that the Ravenclaw table had probably the most people that she did know, that Prefect girl and the Head Boy, whats his face. Taking herself to the Hufflepuff table, Maddy sat down, still bouncing. Sugar... She needed sugar... Her stocks were depleting, and soon she'd be nothing but a snoozing second year. And where the heck was everybody?

Post by Matilda Wentworth on Sept 8, 2008 4:15:00 GMT -5
My, my, my; hadn't this been a year to remember? Matilda knew that if she could only pick one year so far that had to be her biggest, fullest, and best, it would be this one. Which was quite ironic, because knowing herself, she had probably said that to herself last year as well. But nor fear, because at least this meant that life was just getting better as time went on, with new experiences, friends, adventures and such stacking on the memories. Hence the reason she was both a little nervous and a tiny bit withdrawn the day of the feast. For many reasons, the girl just wanted to stay. Because if she did, then Matty wouldn't have to make time to remember the good old times of that year; she was still be living in a pool of which they swam. On the other hand, she didn't want to waste this last day. Heck, she was losing some really good friends in this batch of Seventh years. Drew, Guy, Alexander and Tristan were those who she knew Hogwarts wouldn't be the same without, and they were only off the top of her head. She was familiar with the rest of the eldest of the Hogwarts Students, and knew that ultimately; after this year... Matilda just didn't know what to expect without her favorite bunch of Seventh Years. Which led her onto the subject of becoming a sixth year. Cue 'gulp' sound here. She wasn't even taking the time to worry herself about that; the girl would tackle this hurdle when it came in a couple of months. Moving on, the teenager had already packed her gear. After five years of Summer Holiday departures, Matty knew by now that it was a much better idea to pack before the feast. It just saved any last minute rushes. She had bid most of goodbyes during the course of the day, all but a handful of people. She hadn't shed tears yet, and quite frankly was hoping not to in the company of others. So when exciting her common room, the teen couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and joy fill up her insides. She had always dressed nicely for the End of Year Feast, though it was never really stated to do so. Clad in a fancy white singlet, a wait high brown skirt and gold slip on flats, the girl had slipped on her black robes over top. She didn't mind making the effort, given the event. Slipping into the Great Hall, green eyes met a sight she was both awed yet familiar with. This Feast was easily the most memorable. She could feel tears prickling at the back of her eyes, as Matty spotted Tee and Drew sitting at the Ravenclaw table. She also spotted others like Maddy, Delilah and Henry sitting at their separate tables, and smiled to herself. Yes, this year defiantly had been wonderful. And as much as she was looking forward to going home for Summer, the teen couldn't bring herself to get over he fact that tonight might be the last time she saw Emeric for a while, too. Trying to pry her mind from such thoughts, the Hufflepuff Captain (which was displayed by the gold badge on her robes) made her way over to the Ravenclaw table just as Tianne had finished talking to Head Boy, and her own big-brother figure, Drew. "Hey you two, sorry to interrupt. Just thought I'd pop over for minute to say hello. How're you both doing?" she asked, obviously to the fact that both had probably just done the whole 'how are you' thing. Well, she was only there for a minute, for she mightn't see Drew soon after now.
