How typical. Like an old cliche that never seemed to wear itself out, there was the Ravenclaw, nose in a book, occasionally pushing up the glasses that were slipping down his nose. What was not so typical was who the Ravenclaw was. No, Drew wasn't a stranger to the library, but he was usually found sleeping in one of the back corners, not sitting at a table studying.
The change had been fairly new to this year. He had needed to retake his OWLs, was failing Astronomy, and still had some minor twitches about Herbology. He needed to be focused on his studies if he wanted to get into the Academy and no Deva kidnapping, or car accident, or silly girl was going to sidetrack him.
He scratched his nose under the rims of his glasses and turned back to his book. Focus. That's what he needed.

And yet again, in the library was where the bouncing blond could be found once more. The library had turned into some sort of weird passion for her, instead of being outdoors looking for her squirrel, she navigated her way through the aisles of books. There was a spell she was supposed to be able to perform in charms and yet she was once more unable to do so. There had to be a book that could teach it better than the professor had; even though he was her Head of House she still hadn't found it comfortable enough to approach him about her problems. In fact the only person she had actually approached was Drew.
One small problem with approaching him again was that she didn't think she was in the mood to, and she was sure he hated her. How could he not? Flipping through the pages of a book written especially about the spell, she continued her walk through the library searching for something that would be useful. Briefly looking up from the pages, she stopped. Of course, the one useful thing was there, right in front of her.
Looking back down at the book, her eyes once more skimmed the displayed pages before chancing another look at him. It wasn't as though he could see her, she was behind him. But what if he had noticed her there earlier and was ignoring her? What if he did hate her? Did it matter since he'd made her promise? Again she told herself to knock it off. Why had she turned into such a ridiculously meek person? Just because he hated her didn't mean he wouldn't help her. It had been his idea after all.
Closing the book, Felicity pushed the book into an empty space on a shelf beside her and walked up behind the boy. "Drew?" she whispered quietly as she slowly put her arms around his neck. He wanted her to be herself, she was going to be; even if he didn't want much to do with her anymore. "I need your help."

Had it been any other girl asking for help and playfully putting her arms around him like that, Drew would have taken the bait and responded with a wide grin and a tease.
But this was Felicity, up to her old tricks, thinking she could manipulate him with a few soft words and a little flirting. No way was he falling for it.
"I'm busy," he answered, and he pulled her arms from his neck, not even letting his eyes leave the page he was reading. So how come she could touch him like that, but he couldn't even put one arm around her without freaking out? Games. It was all mind games. Well he wasn't playing.

He was busy? He had made her promise to go to him if she needed help and he was busy. Fine, she could tolerate that, no problem. It was understandable, he had his own classes and his own work that needed to be done. But he didn't even look at her, and his voice had been a little on the cold side. Maybe not so much little. And to top it off he had pulled her arms from around him, she didn't really blame him for that though. He didn't want anything to do with her, why would he want her to touch him?
Turning around, she walked back over to the shelf where she had placed the book, picked it up, and walked back over to the table. He wasn't going to tell her he was busy and not expect her to wait for him to finish. Slamming the book down on the table top, she pulled out a chair next to him and almost violently tore the book open to a random page as she sat down.
He would just have to put up with her waiting for him. She had already once told him she would wait, well now she was not only going to wait, but she was going to be persistent. Just as coldly as she had thought his voice to be, she mocked him back. "Let me know when you're not."

He jumped when she slammed the book down next to him, but didn't look over at her. Instead, he turned away from her, resting his head on one arm to block his view of the girl and hers of him. He did make her sick to her stomach after all.
He tried his best to ignore her, but found it easier said than done. She was right there next to him and he could feel her presence, smell her soap, hear her turning pages angrily. He kept it up for a full three minutes before turning to her, frustrated that she had beaten him again. "What do you want from me?" he growled at her. No, he didn't have to be nice. Not if she was just going to make fun of him.

The silence didn't bother her as much as it normally would have, no this time it was almost welcome. It meant she didn't have to listen to him argue with her, or hear the hate that would be likely to drip from his voice with every word he chose to say to her. Flipping through the book without barely focusing on the sentences that tried to leap out at her as she silently glared at them, she completely ignored the boy next to her. She had told him to let her know, and figured he would.
Nearly huffing as she finally began to focus on a particular section when he chose to speak to her. "I told you I need your help," she replied in the same tone she'd used before. Again it was the question, what she wanted from him was the entirety, but she knew that wasn't what he was asking. Softening her voice slightly, she still didn't tear her eyes from the book. "I need to learn a spell for charms class. You made me promise to come to you, and I did." When she realized she was turning soft again, she roughened her voice as she felt like she could stare a hole through the book "But I'll wait until you aren't busy anymore."

"You have a while to wait then," Drew shot back, attempting to get back to his studying. Darn her for taking him up on his offer and darn himself for making her promise. And all of a sudden she feels the need to have a little integrety and actually keep a promise? Well, of course, when it was something she needed. Of course, he was ready to bet money she didn't need help at all. It was all another part of her stupid game.
"What's the spell?" he asked, slamming his book shut and glaring at her. There was no way he'd get any work done with her sitting there. He might as well get rid of her quickly.

"Fine by me," she replied in the same tone as her eyes began to skim over the material in front of her again. The blond was not in the least bit happy with the situation, the boy she liked hated her, and she was fueling his anger by being just as angry. Of course in a twisted way she found it almost humorous, but she wasn't about to voice that to him.
"The silencing charm," she replied again thinking about the irony. She was sure he wouldn't have minded hearing silence from the Gryffindor, much like how at that moment she wouldn't have minded hearing silence from him, though that would have made it hard for him to teach her. Slamming her own book shut, she finally turned her light brown eyes to him, they showing everything she wasn't saying. Although she wanted to apologize she couldn't at that moment, not without breaking down and she wasn't going to do that today.

"Silencio, huh?" Drew answered back with a smirk. He was tempted to just cast the spell on the girl and let her figure it out from there. He glared back at her, catching something in those honey brown eyes of hers that made him pause. He quickly turned back towards his book, refusing to meet her gaze. "What don't you get with it?" he asked. His words were sharp, but didn't have as much bite as they had previously had.

"I can't cast it correctly, just like when you helped me before," she replied angrily. The fact that he'd looked away from her made her even more frustrated, it didn't matter that he didn't sound as he had before. "In class I couldn't do it. I don't know if it was because there were so many squawking birds and they made me lose my concentration or what."
Fact had been, she was much more interested in trying to destroy a chair a certain Slytherin had sat in during the class period. But besides that, she really couldn't cast it correctly; she had been practicing on a muggle noise maker she'd requested to be sent to her a while ago and it didn't seem to be working. The only way she'd made it quiet was when she had thrown it against a wall and broke it. Since then she had repaired said item and had been trying since the last time she spoke to Drew to work the charm. It hadn't worked.
"I don't like the idea of using an animal to try it out on," she said quietly as she turned back to her own closed book. There was something about using magic on an animal that didn't sit well with the blond, she wouldn't even use magic to catch Sammy and had yelled at Michael for trying to. "My dad sent me a muggle toy to try it with, but I just don't get it." In her mind there was no reason for her not to, perhaps it was because it was a higher level charm and she wasn't ready. Perhaps she should still go and ask to be removed from her spell casting classes, it would make things easier. And it wasn't like she planned on remaining at Hogwarts much longer, Felicity was sure she could get her parents to break and agree she should be at home in London.

The harshness in her voice softened as she worried about hurting a creature and Drew ventured a look over in her direction. He was still mad at her, but the injured part of him was taking over again. He knew deep down that she was just faking but he couldn't keep the bitterness up with her looking so sad.
"You should probably find someone else who can help you," Drew told her, looking at his book again. "I obviously didn't do a very good job the first time."

"Drew," she started, finally looking over at him. He wasn't looking at her again, did he really hate her that much? "Do you think I would have come to you again if you didn't do a good job the first time around?" she asked a bit more harshly than she had meant. Felicity couldn't help it, he was frustrating, more so than a five year old. "You made me promise to come to you if I needed help, I didn't have to agree to it if I didn't want to, but I did. I did because I thought you were helpful."
Looking straight at him, she waited for him to look at her, if he even would. She needed help, she needed his help. The first time he'd done an excellent job, magnificent, in teaching her some spells but this was a harder one. While she could have chose to turn to someone else, she hadn't. Maybe since she had seen him in the library while she was trying to figure it out it could have been seen as a last resort, but she hadn't gone to another person.

"Yeah, well, I wouldn't have made you promise if I had known I made you sick to your stomach," Drew grumbled. She had confused the heck out of him before she said that, but it was that one hurtful statement that had made him realize it had all been a game for her. "I wouldn't want you to hurl or anything..."
"You don't need my help. And I'm tired of beng made a fool," he finished. "So find some other guy to jerk around." He was determined to stay focused this time.

Blankly looking at him, she couldn't do more than blink. Why would she hurl? It was supposed to be a good thing that he made her ill, wasn't it? Hadn't her sister said it was one of the worst feelings but it was one of the best at the same time? That when a boy made you ill to your stomach that it meant something on your behalf? That's all Felicity had meant by it, why was he making such a big deal about it?
And what was he speaking of, 'being made a fool'? Her finding 'some other guy to jerk around'? Furrowing her eyebrows at the first thoughts she had, she wanted to hit him. Why would he make accusations of the sort? The Gryffindor's cheeks lost any colour they had maintained to that point as she became more frustrated, more angry.
Staring right at him, she took a few short, deep breaths. "Is it really that terrible? That everytime I see you my heart races? That everytime you smile at me, I have to catch my breath? That whenever you put your arms around me my stomach knots? That I get so nervous around you I feel like I have jumping beans under every square inch of my skin? That I feel so extremely strange around you, and only you? Fine, if it's really that bad then don't talk to me. I don't need your help."
Standing up, she pushed her chair back and bent over just enough to be level with his ear. "If you don't want to be made a fool, then stop doing it to yourself."

What was she talking about? Was she really playing the switch again, starting up the old 'Let's Mess With Drew' game again? The thing was, he had almost started believing it again, but that last little bit, calling him a fool had snapped him back into reality.
"Don't you try and pull that on me again," Drew growled, turning on her so his nose was barely an inch from hers. Was he going to cry? Maybe, but he sure hoped it didn't get to that point. "I already told Celina you guys won, so don't try and start up again. You had your fun, got me to fall for you, made me believe you liked me back, played me royally. You won. Can't you just leave it at that?"
