Believing him, she leaned into him once more and just stood there, letting him relax. It was true, she liked being in such close proximity of him, but there had been a purpose for this time, he looked as though he needed a hug. Barely nodding her head in in acknowledgement as the blond didn't want to upset how he stood; partly because if he was comfortable she didn't want to ruin that for him and partly because she liked how he had rested his head on hers.
"It's all right," she again mumbled as she inched a bit closer to him, not that she could really get much closer. "I understand." No, she didn't truly understand as she didn't go through it, but she understood the principle of what he was saying and that was that he needed time to get through what he'd been through. Which brought up the issue of time in her mind. He had said he needed time before, did that mean she shouldn't have hugged him? No, she thought that was all right, she'd told him he could put his arm around her and she thought it was a mutual agreement, though he'd never said it was. Maybe she was taking it for granted? Or maybe she was getting too close to him? Perhaps she should loosen her hold on him, or back off, or something. Unfortunately, she was comfortable and didn't want to move away from him. The Gryffindor would just have to hope he didn't get mad at her and push her away. Or she could ask and find out for sure whether it was all right or not.
"Is this all right?" she asked quietly, hoping he'd say it was. Yes, she was standing quite close to him, and she was holding onto him, snuggling one might say, but she didn't want to back away either, but would if he wasn't all right with it.

He wasn't sure that she really understood what was going on. How could she when he wasn't even sure? Still, he appreciated her saying so. It just meant that she wasn't going to try and escape the freaky kidnapped guy.
He snorted out a small laugh at her question, finding her echo of the one he had earlier to be a little funny. "Yeah, it's okay," he answered softly, fighting the urge to kiss the top of her head. It was the most right it had been in a while and he didn't want to jepordize it.

A large smile spread over her lips as she leaned into him more. So he was all right with it, which was nice; that meant hugging was good, as well as hand holding. That was two things that were good, at least at that time they were all right to do.
Not really sure what to say, she just fell silent for a moment. It wasn't that she was trying to avoid what he'd told her, but she was still thinking it all through and really wanted to ask about it, but on the other hand didn't because she thought it would be rude if she did, and didn't want to make anything worse by staying on the subject, best to just stay quiet and enjoy the moment while she had the chance to.

"I'm sorry," he told her again, speaking softly into her hair. "I'm sorry I freaked out like that and I'm sorry I'm always confusing you. It's just that... everything is kind of confusing to me right now. I'll figure it out soon. I promise." He sighed deeply, marveling over the fact that her hair smelled like vanilla. He didn't know any other girls who smelled like vanilla. It was kind of nice.

"I know you will," she replied softly in agreement. There really wasn't any need for him to apoligize anymore, she understood, kind of. It wasn't something he should apologize for, it really wasn't his fault that he'd gone a little strange; but she couldn't help but inwardly smile at the thought that he was apologizing for being confusing, or that he was admitting that he kept confusing her.
Pulling back from him, just enough to be able to see his face, the blond let her eyes fall to his. "You know you don't really have to be sorry, right? It isn't your fault. And as for confusing me, it's really my fault, too. I shouldn't believe the first thoughts I have, I should let things fully process before I say or do something," she explained in a roundabout apology. "But I hope you know, if you ever need to talk about anything, I'll listen. I might not really understand, but I'll try."
It was really all she could give him for it. It wasn't as though she could place a band-aid somewhere and kiss the scratch and he'd be all better; this was something that was obviously going to take much longer to heal, but she was willing to do what she could, if he would let her.

She looked up at him with those great big brown eyes of hers, so sweet and genuine and caring and warm, and Merlin he wanted to kiss her. He could feel his mouth twitching and he bit on his lip to keep it still, smiling down at her nervously. He had just gotten the okay for his arms around her and he really didn't want to push his luck when it seemed to be going so well. He'd save that for another day.
"We'll both do that," he assured her, accepting her apology in a roundabout way of his own. "The thing is... I'm not always sure I know I need to talk about stuff." It was something else he figured he should probably work on as well.

"Well," she started trying to think of how to say what she was thinking. "How about this...whenever you have something on your mind and it won't go away, or if you have one of those annoying voices nagging at you, you'll talk to me?" It was usually how it went for her, if she needed to talk about something her mind wouldn't leave her alone about it, or one of her voices of reason wouldn't be quiet long enough for her to try to think of something else, that's how she knew she needed to talk about something. "And I'll do the same."
Of course, sometimes there were other reasons the thoughts wouldn't leave and she hoped he would understand that she knew he probably wouldn't feel comfortable talking about everything, but for those more reasonable things that wouldn't leave his mind. On the other hand, he may not agree to what she was saying, or understand, but she hoped he would because she didn't really know how else to explain it.

"You want to hear what the crazy voices in my head have to say?" Drwe asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. No, he didn't think he, himself was a nut job, but he was pretty sure he would be if he ever let those voices take over.
And it was definitely when those voices were yammering him that he knew he probably should tell someone, but he was the least likely to do so. All he needed was for someone he really cared about to think he had totally gone psycho.
"Last year, right after it happened, I cursed a squirrel because I thought it was a Deva spy," Drew told her, thinking he better know now if she could really handle this. "No, I didn't mistake him for a spy. I knew it was a squirrel and I purposefully hexed it because I was so sure it was watching me. And then, when Seanna un-hexed it, I turned on her, thinking she was in on it all." He paused and looked down at her, just waiting for her reaction and recognizing that a paralled scene had just played out right there a few moments ago.

Seanna! she cried out, recognition taking over her eyes. That was the Hufflepuff's name. She'd spent the last couple of days trying her best to remember the girl's name but had failed, and he'd just said it. No, she wasn't ignoring what he'd told her, it was just the name had stuck out. "But you probably weren't doing extremely well."
Her statement was cautious, the words chosen carefully. It was understandable that he most likely wasn't doing well if he was still jumpy then; and even though he had just told her it was a squirrel and Seanna, two unlikely candidates in the blond's mind, she somewhat understood, at least to the best of her ability. But then another thought crossed her mind, was he telling her these things in hopes she'd go away? In hopes that she'd leave him alone? Lowering her eyes, she quickly thought about it again, and concluded the answer was no, or at least she hoped it was.
"I...I want to know," she finally answered his question. Letting her eyes travel back to his face, she smiled a small smile. "I'd like to know, Drew. If you want to tell me that is, if not, I'll get over it. But I really would like to know anything you want to tell me." Squeezing his hand, she leaned back into him and rested her head against him. "Besides, you would also have to listen to the things my voices say," she said with a small tease. "Do you think you could handle that?"

"Your voices got nothin' on my crazy voices," Drew told her, finding it kind of neat that he could joke about it with her and not feel self-conscious. She hadn't left after hearing about the squirrel, which was definitely a good thing. Of course, he was well aware that she might just be being polite or maybe she needed a few moments to let it actually sink in before she wrote him off as a freak. So he'd enjoy her company until then.
Or maybe she just didn't know how bad bad was.
"I trusted Shaw and he betrayed me," Drew said softly. "I tried to escape, set the greenhouse on fire, hit him with every hex I could manage, but he and his partner still got me. I had some information Shaw wanted and when I refused to give it to him, he Crucioed me over and over again. It was all for nothing, all a game. His partner had the information the whole time. Ironic thing is, if Shaw had just asked me over the study session I thought we were going to have, I would have freely given it to him. I trusted him that much."
He paused again, waiting for her reaction. Okay, this would be her breaking point. He was sure of it.

Slipping her hand out of his, she pressed into him more as her arm slipped around him. It wasn't exactly what she'd been expecting. Yes, she wanted to know, but was she really prepared to hear what he had to tell her? It was undecided, though it seemed unlikely. What kind of information could a student posses that would make a professor, a man the student trusted, crucio said student? Drew was only sixteen, Shaw, though she wasn't really sure, had to be within his thirties or forties. Just what did the boy know that could make him do something so terrible?
Surprisingly, she actually knew crucio was; along with the other two unforgivable curses. Her mum had made sure she knew them, quite well actually. No, she'd never preformed them, nor had her mum, but Meadow had made sure to teach her daughter the curses well.
If he really was trying to scare her away, he wasn't doing a very good job. What he was telling her just made her want to hold onto him more, as if in relief that he really was there.

She held him tighter and it made him feel better, even if she didn't say anything. Okay, she had heard the worst of it and was still there. It was a good sign.
"So sometimes I get jumpy... nervous. Not as bad as I did right after it had happened, but still." Those first few weeks had been rough and many hours were spent talking to healers who specialized in curse related psychosis. Fun.
"Your music box started acting weird and I was sure it had been tampered with." Truth was, he still thought it might be. He wouldn't let her work with it again until he had given it a thorough check over.

Barely nodding, she continued to hold onto him. It was understandable that he wouldn't necessarily be in his right mind after what had happened, and that he'd still be nervous, but why did he think that about her trinket? Hadn't he preformed the silencing charm on it himself, and hadn't it worked?
Pulling back from him, she again looked up to his face, trying not to think about how blue his eyes were. "I really don't think it's been tampered with," she returned, knitting her eyebrows a little in concern. "I think it's just me. I mean, you did the charm on it and it worked. And why would anyone tamper with a toy?"
That was something she didn't find to be very believable. The jack-in-the-box was just that, a wooden, carved box that made noise to delight children who weren't afraid of it. "It's more likely that I need to work a bit more on the charm myself is all. I doubt anyone would tamper with it."

He hadn't expected her to understand, especially when he didn't get it himself, and it was a little depressing to hear her state the obvious. It was, of course, exactly what the sane part of his voices were telling him.
"You really want to hear what the crazy voices are saying right now?" he asked softly. As soon as she finished speaking, they had raised all sorts of alarms.

He almost looked sad, but about what? The fact she hadn't gone along with his theory that it'd been tampered with? It just seemed to unlikely to have happened to lead him on that she believed it too. Then he asked her his question, and she nodded her head, letting her eyes fall to his as her arms found their way up around his neck. She'd already told him she did want to know.
"Yes, I do," she replied just as softly as he'd spoken. "If you want to tell me. I already said I did, I'm not changing my mind." And she wasn't, the blond wanted to know everything he wanted her to.
