"An... addition?" Drew asked, looking at her with wide eyes. While they had kind of sort of talked about being together that far in the future, it was definitely something they both were hoping for, he was still surprised she had brought up having kids. What surprised him even more was that he wasn't freaked out by it. He was 18 years old and his girlfriend was discussing additions to their family. Wasn't he supposed to be freaked out by that?
"I think we could figure it out," he said, knowing it wasn't going to happen for a while, but liking the idea that she wanted it to.

Nodding slowly, she wondered if it was all right to talk about something like that. They both knew where the boundaries laid, and she wasn't nearly anywhere being ready to go that far with him, and he still hadn't told her that he was ready. The last time they talked about he was still unsure in which they'd decided that meant he wasn't ready; and even if he had changed his mind and was ready, she wasn't. But that didn't stop her from thinking about being with him much further in the future. They constantly talked about future plans, but nothing that far in the future, only about their careers and where those could land them, and how they'd work around it so they could be together.
Flipping Snowflake over since she'd startled to struggle a little, she let the puppy move around, crawl over to Drew's lap and start sniffing around on the sofa, one she wasn't completely used to seeing. Giggling lightly, Felicity turned her honey-graham eyes up toward Drew with a nervous smile. Normally she wasn't one to bring up such discussions, but she wondered. They'd been dating for over a year and a half, and she was curious about things. She knew he liked children and got along with them well enough, and he liked animals, his favourite colour was blue, she knew a lot about him. Not everything, and she was glad she didn't know everything because then things would be slightly boring, but there were some things she did want to know.
Resting her head against his shoulder as she turned her body more towards his on the sofa, she started to pick lightly at invisible lint on his shirt, letting a million questions run through her mind. "Do you want children someday?"

Drew couldn't help but think that both her dad and his mom would totally lose it if they knew what he and Felicity were talking about. Mr. Hjort didn't seem to be the kind who would rejoice at the idea of his daughter raising Wizards, and Drew's mom was convinced Felicity was planning to trick him into marriage and then leave him with a huge alimony and child support payment before he hit 20.
Snowflake paraded across his lap and started investigating the sofa cushions. Drew wasn't exactly sure how Mrs. Hjort would feel about the dog pawing around in her couch, but he thought Felicity would say something if it wasn't allowed. As she leaned into him more, he pulled her in tighter, loving the feel of having her so close.
"Yeah... someday," Drew answered, still finding it weird that they were talking about this. He figured they would have to talk about it eventually, but they weren't going to be anywhere near that point for another couple of years at least.

His answer made her smile, she had had a feeling that he did, but she couldn't be sure until she asked. It was odd asking, but at the same time it felt like a natural course to wonder at that time. No, he hadn't ever asked for her hand in marriage and she supposed that was the real time to start asking such questions, but she was curious. If they wanted to be together, they had to know, right? Because it would eventually come up some day, and so why not know when it was on her mind? Especially when they were supposed to talk about things when there was something on one of their minds.
"Andrew Mark Thornton...the second?" she asked, teasing again. Though really, she rather loved his name. And what was really nice was she never tired of doodling his name on her papers, in her notebooks, entwining it with hers. "Or Jr.? Because I'm rather fond of roman numerals after names myself. It reminds me of Alexander a bit, since he's always marking everything with the lines after his name. It's nice though, it looks nice when he does it."
And there were still other questions on her mind, that were taking over the memory of the dinner she had been working on only just before he arrived. Good thing she hadn't put anything in the oven or microwave yet.

He turned to look at her, his face breaking out in a wide grin. "You want to name him after me?" he asked, thinking that was pretty cool. He had always thought it was neat that his cousin Tad was actually Theodore Thornton III, and had once asked why he hadn't been named Mark after his own father. The answer boiled down to confusion over what to call him since he couldn't very well go through life being refered to as "Little Mark" or "Markie". In the end, Drew had been given his father's name in the middle, but he never got to use the Junior.
But if they named a boy Andrew Mark, then he'd be a Senior and the kid would be the Junior. Drew really liked that idea. There was only one problem...
"What if it's a girl?" he asked, thinking he could definitely handle being daddy to a little girl with a freckled nose and graham cracker brown eyes.

"Yes, I'd rather like naming him after you," she answered, returning his grin. The bright light that lit up his face was nice, seeing his eyes match his smile. Of course, this was just one of those in case things, she knew if they did really stay together there wouldn't be any additions that were human for a while. He would have to concentrate on his career first, and she would too. And before going beyond any thinking, there would have to be a marriage involved; and even then she thought it would still be a few more years after that.
"If it's a little girl, then you have two options," she answered with a shy smile. There were two names she'd been thinking about for a girl too, not that she spent too much time thinking about it... Honestly, she wanted a large family anyway, and she hoped there'd be a few children to name because there were a couple of names she really liked and wanted to use. "You can choose Dolores Meadow, after your mum and mine, or Meadow Dolores, whichever you like most. Or, you can choose Beatrice Abigail, after your Grandmum, both of our Aunt's and my Grandmum."
There were a ton of names to really choose from, but those were the names she liked most. Of course, if they had three little girls, they could come up with another name, like Lacey, or Ashley, or Deborah, or McKenzie, or Tiffany.

He found it funny that she had actually thought all of this out, and again marveled at the fact that he wasn't freaked out by it. She was naming their kids after his parents and grandparents and he wasn't bothered by it at all.
"If she's Beatrice Abigail, she's going to be a BAT," Drew pointed out. "And I don't like Dolores. It means sorrow. How about Micaela? What's your mom's middle name?"

"Then I'll keep my last name and hyphenate it with yours. That way she'll be Beatrice Abigail Hjort-Thornton and then it'll be BAHT, which isn't a word," Felicity pointed out matter-of-factly like. And besides that, she was rather fond of her name too, almost as fond of it as she was Drew's. But then if she did that, their son couldn't really be a second because he'd have another name, but maybe they could get away with it anyway. "And we could call her Betty, or Trish, maybe we'll just have to call her Trish and then it won't be so bad and I can just take your name."
But when he said he didn't like his mum's name, she frowned. No matter the meaning, she thought it was a rather nice name, traditional, old fashioned, and it was nice. "Mum's is Rose, but I don't know if I like it too much. I like the name Molly more than Rose," Felicity wrinkled her nose slightly. In all honesty, she wasn't too fond of the name Molly either. But even Micaela Meadow or Meadow Micaela didn't sound very well put together of a name. "How about we just have two little boys and name them Andrew Mark Thornton II, and David Mark Jacob Thornton? That seems easier, we'll just forget about little girls."
Lifting her head off his shoulder, she grinned cheekily at him, knowing he likely wouldn't be extremely fond of that idea. He reminded her of her dad a little, and her dad loved having daughters.

"What about Thornton-Hjort and then she'd be BATH," Drew teased. They had a lot of time to decide what to name a kid but it was kind of fun to think about it now. He liked Molly and Rose both, but didn't want to go there if she didn't. Either way, he didn't think Meadow Micaela sounded right.
"Both with Mark in the middle?" he asked, thinking David and Jacob were pretty good names. but then, what she said surprised him. "Forget about girls? But what if I want one like you?" he asked. "Just as long as she doesn't go picking up strange guys flashing their underwear in the back of the Leaky Cauldron..."

“No!” she giggled with a slight squeal. “If I were to keep my last name it'd go before yours so Thornton would be the last thing I write. I'd like to take your name and that way I'll really be yours because then I'll be a Thornton, and if it's the last part of my name, it'd really be who I am.” Maybe it didn't make sense but that's how she saw it. Thornton would be the last thing she wrote, the last thing she wanted to ever write in attachment to her name. “Maybe Micaela Rose would be all right.”
Honestly, she still wasn't fond of Rose.
“Yes, we'd have to name someone after your dad. And if Andrew Mark Thornton II is after you, then David Mark Jacob would be after my brother, and both of our dads.” David was a name she wasn't willing to budge on, and if she ever had a second son, no matter with who, his name would be David. Even if she all ready had a nephew named so after him, she wanted her own piece.
“You don't want a little girl like I was,” Felicity told him, light brown eyes getting wide. “I was a horrible girl, always fighting someone, getting into trouble, I wasn't a good little girl at all. You'd be horrified if we had a little girl like me.” How many times had she gotten into a fight because someone had wanted her to play house? Or dress-up. What about when that little boy tried to kiss her that one time? Or during games when people weren't playing fair. Or even at her sister's wedding when she refused to walk down the aisle in a dress when she was the flower girl and had changed into different clothes and gotten into a lot of trouble for it?
“Hey!” she called out, gently punching him. “I didn't pick you up, you picked me up. Remember in the tree? You came out and saved me from falling and while doing so you lifted me up. And you told me you liked me first, too.”

"But then it doesn't spell anything," Drew retorted, grinning at her squeal. He loved it when she did that. "And if we hyphenate, everyone goes with the first half anyway." He wasn't sure how he felt about that yet. He thought he might be okay with the kids being Hjorts instead of Thorntons.
"My Mark is for my dad anyway, so we wouldn't need to have another one," he pointed out. "I like David Jacob." He wasn't going to argue the other two names, thinking that David was kind of nice after her brother, but he thought another Mark was just overkill... kind of like George Forman who named all of his kids George.
He had to laugh when she argued the girl with him. He definitely wanted a girl like Felicity. Then he might not have to worry so much about the strange guys in the back of the Leaky Cauldron. When she punched him he giggled and flinched, glad his tease had gotten her exactly as he had hoped it would.
It was true that he had made that admission way before he had intended to. It was something that might have still embarassed him if things hadn't turned out so well in the end of it all. "With all the guys after you, I had to get my bid in quickly," he answered, knowing that even then he had been later than most of them. He felt damn lucky and awfully privledged that she had turned them all down to be with him instead.

"So, we'll break the cycle," Felicity answered seriously. "Or we don't hyphenate at all. We could just make all of their middle names Hjort, except for Junior, except it doesn't sound like a very pretty middle name, does it? We'll just throw Hjort out, they'll know they are a part of one though, that'd be difficult to keep from them with all of my family. So, they'll have their first and middle names all right and pretty, and we'll all be Thornton's. Besides, I have nephews and nieces to carry out the name, we don't have to bother with it."
Tilting her head to the side, she shook it gently. "Nope. You may be named after your dad, but our first son will be named after you, which makes it so he isn't named for his Grandad. And therefore, it wouldn't be nice if we named our second son after both my brother and my dad without adding your dad in. Besides, I like the name Mark, and David Mark Jacob sounds better than David Jacob. Or we could call him after your Grandfather." Though, honestly, she couldn't remember what he'd told her his Grandad's name was.
"And that's another reason we shouldn't have a little girl. What if she does turn out like me? You'll have to scare away so many boys and what if one, or two, or three slip by under the radar? I mean, we can't keep an eye on her at school, and while that isn't where our story begins, a lot of stuff did happen there," she reminded him with a gentle scolding. Really, much too much happened than should've.

He was more than a little pleased that she seemed all set to take the name Thornton. It would have been something he would have been happy to discuss seriously when the time actually came, but he liked the idea of having her connected to him like that.
He still didn't get the idea of naming two kids Mark though. His Mark was already for his dad so any other Marks would also be for his dad. At least that was the way it worked with his granddad and Tad.
"I like David and Jacob," he told her, wondering is she could be talked out of the second Mark. It just didn't seem right when there were a bunch of other good names out there to use. Besides, he had never heard of anyone having two middle names like that. "Granddad already has enough people named after him. I don't think we really need another Theodore Thornton."

"I like David and Jacob as well, but I also like the name Mark. And I think the names sound better with all three than with just the two. Besides, my dad has Jacob named after him all ready and my nephew is named David, so really, they both have someone named after them as is, so your father should be included to have another named after him too." Also, it would connect their sons, assuming they had two. This was of course all theoretical, but it sounded nice, even if they were arguing over names when they hadn't even done anything...
"What other names do you like?" she asked, leaning back into him and reaching her hand out to scratch Snowflakes ears to keep her from jumping down off the sofa. While she wanted to name a child after Drew if they stayed together, and she wanted to name one David, he did have a choice.

"Me? I don't know," Drew answered with a shrug and a small laugh. While he had given some thought to the future with Felicity, including the possibility and the desire to have a couple of kids together, he hadn't really gone so far as to think about names for any of them.
She snuggled deeper into the crook of his arm it solidified the feeling of being a happy little family and discussing names seemed perfectly natural, even if they were still teenagers who hadn't gone past second base yet.
"I think I like the idea of names after someone else though," he said, glad she wanted David and Jacob. If he thought about it, those were probably what he would have picked too. "How about Miguel for my Papi?" he suggested. If she didn't like that, he'd be cool with Michael too.
