Drew laughed back, knowing that Mrs. Hjort had enough food in the kitchen to feed anyone who walked through the door, even a oversized eighteen year old like him. Drew wasn't sure exactly how she did it, but no one ever went hungry in the Hjort house.
He giggled a little at her dancing before he realized it was mostly from holding the hot plate. He moved closer to her to take it from her if she needed him to, but she seemed to manage it fine.
"I'll have the apples instead if he wants the ziti," he offered, though he would have prefered the pasta dish. Apples were always good and he didn't want to take something that Matthew might have been expecting.

Why was he so irresistible? With him so close to her, she had a hard time fighting the urge to kiss him right there in the kitchen. Though she'd kissed him plenty of times in there before, her mum had said none of it was to be had, so she had to try to fight it. However, it didn't stop the blonde from poking him in his ticklish spot once the plate was safely on the counter.
"No, we're having the ziti. It's our dinner together, I'm sure he can find something else if he's not happy with the apples." But Matthew hardly complained about food, for a growing boy he really didn't eat too much either. "And if you still want some apples there's enough to go around." Taking the fruit from the drawer, the blonde started slicing a couple up and laid them as decoratively as possible along the edge of the plate without baked ziti.

She was the only one who was allowed to poke his ticklish spot and he gave a small (and slightly girly) squeek and jumped back when she made contact with his side. He just hoped no one else had heard his yipping.
"Okay, okay!" Drew answered in mock surrender, glad he was going to get the ziti. He knew he could probably get an apple later if he needed to... something to tide him over until the pizza got there. She voiced his own thoughts and as she sliced apples, he stole a bit and popped it in his mouth before she had a chance to put it on the plate. Okay, it probably wasn't nice to take food that was meant for Matthew, but it was only one slice.

Covering her mouth, Felicity giggled into the soft skin of her hands before turning away from the older boy. "I take it that means yes to some apple slices?" she grinned and started slicing up another without waiting for his answer. Their dinner would be pretty light, not the usual in the Hjort household, but it was nice sometimes. Besides, it meant she could spend less time at the stove and more time in his arms...maybe.
Spreading out the slices as prettily as she could, Felicity sat the knife on the ledge behind of faucet of the sink where Freddy wouldn't be able to reach before digging through their refrigerator once more and finding a bit of cheese which she started slicing with a different knife to add to the apple slices.
"All right, I think I'm done with what I can do. If he's still hungry he'll make a sandwich of some sort or other," she told Drew before picking up two of the plates, all intentions on going back into the living area to sit and eat, and maybe turn on the television to see what might be playing.

Following the food and the pretty girl carrying it, Drew barely even noticed that they weren't going back to the dining room until they got there. He also realized he had left the third plate in the kitchen and while he wasn't sure if Matthew was planning to stick around and eat with them, Drew figured the plate should have been brought along.
"I'll grab some glasses and the milk?" he suggested, thinking he could bring along the final dinner as well. Then they'd have to figure out how to keep Snowflake out of their dinners.

Re-entering the living room, Felicity turned when Drew spoke, noticing his empty hands and a faint smile touched the blonde's lips. Sitting Matthew's plate down on the coffee table, Felicity nodded in response to Drew, knowing he could navigate their kitchen without being watched and directed. However, Matthew stood and grabbed his plate, coaxing Snowflake to follow him. "Don't bother with getting me a glass, I'm going upstairs." A slight pause... "Is it all right if I take Snowflake with me?"
Dark brown eyes turned to look at Drew in question, hoping he wouldn't mind. He knew better than to feed dogs off his plate, but he still wanted to play with the white furball.

Drew smiled back a little sheepishly, feeling like he hadn't fooled Felicity in the least. The good news was that Matthew didn't seem to notice too much, like most guys more interested in the food than what anyone else was doing.
"Fine with me," Drew answered with a small shrug and looking over at Felicity for verification. He knew that Snowflake was his dog, but he still felt like she was part Felicity's too. Besides, it was her house so he really couldn't give the final word as to where the puppy could and couldn't go.

When Drew looked over to Felicity for reaffirmation that it was all right, Felicity nodded, blonde locks flopping about. "It's all right with me too, Matty. Just make sure she behaves and don't let her beg." While Snowflake was Drew's puppy, Felicity wasn't entirely sure what he was teaching her, her own family having taught Snowflake the basics of sit, lay, and stay. Other than that, it was up to Drew what he wanted her to learn. There were a number of tricks and commands he could help her to learn, but in the end it was his decision.
Standing and grabbing one of the plates, the one indicated as his, Matthew headed toward the staircase, calling to the pup to follow, which she did quite happily. Though she had a bit of trouble getting up the stairs, she managed quite well for her size.

With the puppy situation taken care of, Drew headed back to the kitchen to try to figure out how to juggle his plate, two glasses, and a bottle of milk. He could easily do it with a bit of magic, but wasn't sure he was allowed to use his wand in the Hjort house, even if Felicity's dad wasn't home. In the end, he stacked the glasses together, tucked the milk in the crook of his arm and still had a hand left over for his plate.
As he went back into the living room, he could still hear Snowflake making her way up the stairs and just the sound of her paws thumping after Matthew put a smile on his face. He placed his plate on the coffee table and set the two glasses down before pouring the milk for both of them. The beverages served, he sat down on the floor facing her, a big smile on his face and waiting for her to be ready as well.

Being left alone, Felicity pushed the table out a bit from the sofa and situated her plate so she wouldn't be right in Drew's way when he returned. With the glasses, plate, and milk settled, Felicity grinned happily, glad Drew didn't mind her preference of milk over sodapop or anything sweeter with meals. Actually, she was kind of happy he seemed to have grown fond of the choice as well.
Smiling in return, Felicity couldn't help but become lost in his eyes, at least momentarily. She was quick to snap out of it and pick up her fork to show she was ready to dig in when he was. "So...how excited are you about the Auror Training?"
Excitement and nervousness had been running through his veins lately, and she knew, but she was trying to make conversation.

Drew answered with a crooked smile, pretty sure she already knew how he was feeling about his upcoming appointment. "As it gets closer, I think the nervousness is taking over," he told her before taking a good gulp from his glass. He hadn't been much of a milk drinker until recently, prefering a nice cold soda any day, but since that was just about all Felicity drank, he had gotten kind of hooked on the stuff.
He swallowed and tried to descretely wipe his mouth with the back of his hand. "But it changes from day to day," he told her. "Tomorrow, I'll probably be ten times more nervous or totally whatever about it." He really didn't think he'd ever feel as blase as whatever about Auror training, but there was always a possibility.

Nodding attentively, Felicity wished she could be home for right after his first day at training, so they could talk about everything rather than just reading about it all. While it would be nice, pouring over his handwritten letter, hearing him explain it all in his voice would be better, but she would have to stick to letter reading until the Hogsmeade trip, when she'd be able to meet with him and hear it all. But at least being with him for the night, being able to talk with him and feel that nervousness alongside him would satiate her for the time being, as she was just as nervous about returning to Hogwarts without him at her side.
A small grin touched her lips when he cleaned his mouth, having forgotten to grab napkins for while they ate, but deciding it didn't matter much since he wasn't complaining, not that he would normally anyway.
"Well, I hope you're more nervous than whatever about it," she answered, using his terminology. "I think being whatever about it would be too nerve-deadening about something you've wanted to do for nearly forever. And it's good to be nervous, right? It means you're excited."

Drew snorted a laugh at her teasing, knowing that his American venacular still had a tendancy to slip through into his everyday speech. He really didn't mind when she called him on it.
"I guess so," he told her with a small shrug and a crooked smile, slightly embarassed to admit how nervous he actually was. He knew it was normal and if he could tell anyone how he was feeling it was the girl he loved, but there was a part of him that still believed he needed to be fearless. He liked Felicity's option. Nervousness wasn't so much fear as it was being excited.
And he supposed he was excited. For the last seven years he had pretty much done the same thing and now it was time for a new adventure. "I wish you'd be around so I could tell you about it," he said, thinking he also wanted her there to help him through. It was going to be tough and he hadn't realized how much he relied on her until it came time to go it without her.

"But I will be around," she answered, trying to make her own disappointment not quite so crystal clear. "I'm not going to be right there with you while you're training, but I am going to be around. You can write me, and then when we see each other in Hogsmeade, you can tell me all about it, because you know I'm going to want to hear about it all." It wasn't the same, and she knew it, but at least it was something. And soon, she'd be out of school, and hopefully they'd have all summer to spend with him stopping in whenever possible and telling her all about his day, and then she could wrap her arms around him and tell him about her day. After that, hopefully not too long after, they'd be able to do it all the time. Just spend time telling each other about the others day. It'd be nice.
"I promise I won't ever grow tired of reading it all in your letters, and then hearing you talk about it too," she told him earnestly. Reaching out, she took up his hand and gave a gentle squeeze. Really, she just couldn't hardly wait.

"I know," he answered, feeling the urge to wrap his arms around her at that moment, but deciding it would be slightly awkward with the dinner between them. Holding her hand was a suitable substitute for the time being. It was comforting to know he could tell her all about it and she'd be just as excited even if he couldn't tell her in person.
"And you're going to tell me all about what you're doing, right?" he asked, knowing she would probably do a lot of the same things she had done the previous year, but still knowing he'd want to hear it all. It would be almost like actually being there.
