It was fortunate that his room was just at the top of the stairs and most of the equipment he needed was on wheels. With a shout of warning, he pushed a skateboard and a pair of roller blades down the steps, following close behind with two helmets and an assortment of padding in his hands.
"What are you doing?" his mother asked, poking her head in and giving him 'the look'.
"We're going to skateboard out front," he answered, an innocent smile plastered across his face. Of course, he wouldn't have had to make so much noise if Alhana had been allowed upstairs.
"I'm out back. Try not to kill yourselves?" she responded with her own eye roll.
"Come on," Drew told Alhana, his failure to answer, saying that he would make no promises either way. He scooped up the skates and opened the front door holding it for the raven haired girl. "Can you get the board?"

A wave and grin that also promised no such things as not getting killed flashed at Mrs. Thornton as she flipped up the skateboard towards her with her foot. "Of course I can get the board, do I look totally helpless?" she sighed, grabbing the end of it with her fingers and strolling out after Drew.
"So, teach. Tell me what I do first. What foot goes where?" Alhana questioned, cocking her head to stare at the clear blue skies. Quite randomly, she suggested that they go sky diving one day.

"First..." he started, dropping everything in his hands with the exception of one helmet. This, he placed on top of her head, wiggled it around a bit to make sure it fit properly, and fastened the strap under her chin.
"Cute..." he said with a smirk. Everyone was funny looking in a helmet. He handed her a set of wrist guards and knee pads. "You need these too," he told her.

Alhana fingered the chin strap for a few seconds before deciding she'd write hate mail to whomever had invented them before forcing her hands down to take the padding from Drew. She loathed how helmets made you feel as if you were being choked to death. She'd much rather crack her head open....
"No elbow guards?" she asked, kicking off her shoes to slip on the knee pads and strap them to her legs.

"I'm coming with those," he told her, flipping the extra padding to her before starting on his own gear. With his own helmet on, he put on the other guard pads, finishing up with his rollerblades. He grinned over at her while she finished up. "If you want, we can tie a pillow around your waist for a butt pad too..." he teased.

"Oh, ha ha, Drew. You're such a funny boy....But I think you'd need it more than I would," Alhana quipped sarcastically, but it was offset by the grin on her face. She almost toppled over getting her one foot through the pad and figured it probably would have been a better idea to sit on the ground.
Slipping back into her shoes and raising her eyebrow at Drew not to say anything about her ditzy movements, she wrapped the guards around her wrists and spread her arms out in display. "Okay, doc, what's next?"

"You get on the board," Drew told her, getting to his own feet and adjusting his elbow pads one more time. Strange thing was, he hardly ever wore this much protective gear, but he figured he should set a good example for Alhana. "One foot infront of the other, in a comfortable stance."

Hum, of course. Get on the board! What else would she do with it? Take it for a stroll down the pavement? Alhana smirked and put her left foot in the back, not knowing if it mattered which foot went where. She swung her arms a little out to the side and gripped the board with her toes through her shoes, assuring herself that the board wouldn't fly out from under her once she put her full weight on something so unstable.
"Wooh!" Alhana exclaimed lightly, bending her knees a bit when she lifted her right foot and planted it at an angle parallel to her left's position so her body was also angled to the left just slightly.

"You're goofyfoot," he told her, catching her up in his arms before she fell. "Put the left one in front and the right one in back perpendicular." Of course, some people were naturally goofyfoot, but he really didn't want to do the test to check that was done on him. "Unless you're really comfortable that way, but the stronger leg should be in back because that's the one you use to push."

Goofyfoot? Alhana grinned sheepishly and stepped off the board, bracing herself against Drew so she didn't slip and fall on her bum. That wouldn't be a pretty sight at all. She followed his directions and stuck her left foot in front and placed her right in the back so that it was only slightly facing the left. Only then did she let go of Drew's arm and looked at him. "That better?"

"Yeah," he said, bending down to adjust her feet a little. He aimed her towards the front lawn just in case she needed to make an emergency landing and stood up again. "Is that comfortable? Now just push off with your back foot to get going. Shift your weight to keep balance. Got it?"

Alhana flipped him a thumbs-up sign. "Got it, teach," she replied, biting her lip as she pushed off only a little at first to nudge the board forward a few feet. The Lioness wobbled a little, but not enough to affect her. Once she felt comfortable that she wouldn't go flying off the board, she pushed off harder this time and attempted to steer.
"Ha! This isn't so b--" she was cut off by a skidding noise when she did happen to lose her balance and toppled off the skateboard. She allowed herself to fall into the grass with a twisted face.
"Bloody contraption," Alhana grumbled in Hungarian.

If he had been worried she would hurt herself, he would have raced over to catch her, but a few bangs and bumps were alwasy part of the learning curve in a situation like this. He rolled over to where she fell and plopped down on the grass next to her, giving her a crooked smile. "You okay?" he asked. "That was pretty good for a first try. Now we get back up and do it again."

If his question had really needed answering, she would have slapped herself for being a sissy. But Alhana was used to falling off of things; she had a history of it. Taking a short tumble into soft plush grass especially shouldn't have bothered her a bit, and it didn't.
"Igen, I'm okay," she grinned widely back up at him, but didn't bother to rise from her place. Flopping her arm out, Alhana arched her back to stretch it. "I feel like a little kid being urged to try again even though I fell. No board will get the best of me. I own this thing..." she gave a half sort of chuckle.

"Of course," Drew answered with a small smile of assurance. She was way too tough... and too stubborn to let it get to her. He got himself up and reached down to offer her a hand back up. "I just wasn't too sure with the swearing, is all," he teased, assuming that was what the Hungarian had been.
