Little, chipmunk cheeked Jason Monte Payne had been at Hogwarts for a total of one hour. Enough time to find the Ravenclaw Tower, settle in, and then have the grand epiphany that he was for once in his life alone. His mother was not here to chase after him with a wet comb in an attempt to tame his hair, his father was not here to keep him from hanging upside down by the fan. He was free, absolutely free. What then should he do?
The answer came simple enough.
Jase rushed out of the boys dorm wearing a pair of boxers over his pants, a sheet tucked into his shirt like a cape, and a piece of cloth died over his eyes with two slits cut for him to see through. In his arms he had what looked to be something similar to a muggle boogie-board.
"Yahhooo!" He yelled, and... down the stairs he went, landing at the bottom with a disappointing thump. That was not as thrilling as he thought it would be.

Drwe had entered the room just in time to see a small boy tumble down the stairs. He shook off an eerie sense of deja vu before making the satndard welcoming announcement.
"NEW BIRD IN THE HOUSE!"

Christina was up in the girl's dorm, when she heard a yell, and a thump. She wondered what it was, and rushed out of the dorm. She stopped at the stairs, and noticed a new boy on the ground on the foot of the stairs. She heard Drew's welcome, and let out a soft giggle. She started down the stairs, and said to the boy, "Welcome to Ravenclaw!"

((did you really do that? Dang, thought I was being semi-original))
"I'm no bird! Can't you tell that I'm trying to be..." Jase squeaked out indignantly, and slightly offended in a high-pitched voice(honestly, it was a cape not a pair of wings) when he realized what the older boy had been referring to. A sheepish grin stole his features. "... OH! Like the eagle."
He hastily clamored back to his feet and pointed over his shoulder. "You need bigger stairs."
After he pointed he heard another voice, this one female from the direction he had pointed and turned to look at a older girl comming down them. Not as alone as he thought.

{I usually do it on roller blades or a skateboard ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Trust me, there's very little I haven't tried ;D } "I'll show you the main stairs if you want bigger,' Drew told the kid, plopping himself into the comfy chair as Christina came in. "The boogie board is good for the girls' staircase though."

Christina started to hear what the boy was saying about what he was attempting to be. However, he seemed to have interpeted it to literally mean an eagle. "It could mean that. Or, also it means that you are new and you are in the house with a mascot of the eagle," she said with a nod, then continued, "and there are bigger stairs, just not in here." She replied as she finally got down into the common room. She heard what Drew said, and laughed lightly. She knew about what happened if a boy were to go up to the girl's dorm.

"What's your name kid?" Drew asked, already deciding the boy would fit in perfectly with the other male Ravenclaws.

Jase gave the girl a blank look, one of his mismatch and quite bizzar blond eyebrows hooped in question. It made him looked even more like a chipmunk.
"Yeah. I caught on to that." He flapped his arms like a bird. "Eagle. My pap said something about everyone refering to everyone by house animal."
He looked down at the boggie board and then the girls staircase and turned his attention to the boy again. "How come? They don't look any bigger than the boys." But before he got his answer, another question was proposed.
"Jase. Jase Payne." He wrinkled the bridge of his nose. "It's really Jason, but that's no fun." The boy's expression brightened. "Do you know my cousin!? Well... she's not really my cousin..."

Christina nodded lightly as she leaned on the handle bar of the staircase. She grinned lightly. "Let's put it like this, it is different for when I walk up there, and when you walk up there," she said with a nod. She looked at him. "I'm Christina Faden, nice to meet you," she said, then continued, "Who is she?" she said the last part with a small shrug.

"Drew Thornton, nice to meet you," he answered, again shaking off the weird sense that he had been through this conversation before. He kept coming back to the memory of a brown haired boy begging the fourth years, Max and Hilt, to show him the hidden passages and their secret bombing tecniques.
"So... why don't you give it a try," Drew told the boy, nodding to the girls staircase. "Who's your cousin anyway?"

He gave the girl another blank look, something he had a feeling he would be giving to a lot of girls in this house if they talked like that. He never did like riddles.
"Oh, sorry. Tamis Raynor... but she's not really my cousin. My pap was married to her aunt before she died. Then he married my mum. I never met her. Pap said she stopped visiting years ago, before I was born. About some guy or another."
He rambled on, apparently very fond of talking, and shrugged, picking up the boogie-board and ogled at the girls stairs.
"They'll going to be any different from the boys?" He asked incredulously, referring to the stairs now.

Christina gave a short nod as he said whom he was calling his cousin. "I see," she said to what he said and left it at that. She grinned slightly. "I'd suggest that when you try to go up it, that you have that board ready to go down with it," she said with a short nod. She shook her head. "Yes, they are different," she said.

"No, wait... nevermind..." Drew said, jumping up and standing between the stairs and the boy. There was no way he'd get away with leading the Head of House's nephew down the wrong path. He'd get detention until he graduated.
"You say Raynor is your cousin? Crap." There went all of his fun.

Now very eager to try these "special" stairs out for himself, he tried to make a running leap for them with the board, but was blocked by Drew.
"Hey! What was that for!?" he exclaimed, and then he crossed his skinny arms, letting the board fall. "Yeah, but I don't think she remembers. Or even knows. I heard she worked here from pap... what of it? Not that big a deal."
He continued to try and get around the much older and much taller boy.

Christina looked over at Drew, thinking for a second as he went to go and block the boy from trying out the stairs. "Drew, as you can see, he's choosing to do it, with out us forcing him to do it. Also, he's clearly not going to get hurt eiather," she said to Drew.
