"Sorta?" Keagan replied with a quirk of her eyebrow before he continued. When he did continue, however, her cheeks flushed slightly and she frowned the tiniest bit. "I don't..." She trailed off. The part about the cat was now forgotten, though her hand continued to stroke it's back and he continued to watch Dean's every movement, more sharply now that Keag's condition had noticeably changed. The boy's laughter brought a smile back pretty quickly, though. Laughter was contagious.

Dean noticed the very slight change in Keagan's facial expression, she seemed to be remembering something. Or rather, someone. He didn't really want to bring it up because it was probably like when she told him how she had been reminiscing. He was, however, glad to see when a smile returned to her face. Dean didn't really know why had had asked that question... He just had wanted to know. He then said, " Sorry, " Thinking he had made her feel a bit uncomfortable by the question.

Dean's apology took Keagan by surprise. "No need to apologize. It's no big deal. My reaction is practically reflex anyway." She didn't want him to feel bad just because she couldn't bring herself to any closure on the situation with Dan. Maybe she should just forget him; life might be easier that way. But it seemed darn near impossible to even put him out of mind for more than ten minutes sometimes. Grrr...
'Move on,' she reprimanded herself silently. She forced a smile that softened into a genuine one. "Where are you from, anyway, Dean?"

" Ok, " Dean said softly, even though she had said it was ok he still felt a little bad for asking... Even if he didn't know what had happened. To see her just smiling again Dean smiled as well. " Originally? " He asked, then went on. " Denmark. I've lived alot of places, actually... My parents moved alot when I was a kid because of my dad's job. What about you, where're you from? " He question curiously.

"Denmark? Cool. My blood's a hodge podge of blood from different countries, but I was born and raised in the States. Do you have any idea where Rhode Island is? That's me home." It was the curse of the rambling. It seemed to happen to Keag often, the rambling. She could never find it in her to simply stop, though. She always finished her thought, and without fail, she always blushed. Of course, today was in no way different. The color had already started to tinge her cheeks as she dropped her gaze to the cat in her lap.

Dean smiled slightly as Keag rambled on. He listened to what she said about Rhode Island and replied, " I've no idea where that is. Somewhere along the Eastern coast? " He ventured a guess about where this ' Rhode Island ' was from... He then wondered if it really was an island... Dean then looked back at Keag to see her blushing. It only made him grin. He wasn't sure what had caused it but he was curious so he decided to ask. " So, do you blush often? " He asked her with a half grin on his face.

Keag only nodded to his response now that she was averting his gaze. It was a good guess, though. Right on the money. She could feel his gaze on her as she looked at her lap, and her blush deepened further when he asked her about her blushing. She glanced toward him quickly, but then returned her eyes to the cat as she nodded her answer. She was a little wary of talking, concerned that she might ramble again if she did so too soon.

Dean smiled, he was still looking at Keag even though she was now dead set on staring at the cat. " It's ok... " He said, now wondering if he was doing anything wrong. Dean inched towards Keag and the cat and he held his hand out. He did know that cats, like dogs, prefer to smell the people before they get pet... But then there are just some cats that don't like some people too much at all. He looked down to the cat, seeing if the gesture would be accepted.

Keagan saw Dean's movement out of the corner of her eye, and she immediately stiffened, in much the same way as the cat in her lap did. She relaxed a lot more quickly than the cat did, however. She knew BK wasn't a biter, but she was still a little concerned about the cat's reaction to the boy. Why was he being so defensive? Was he going to be that protective around everybody this year? Around all males? Or maybe he could sense something about Dean that she hadn't yet.

Dean noticed Keag relax a bit. He didn't really know what to make of this so he just took it as a good sign. He moved his hand a little closer to the cat as he moved himself a bit more closer to the pair so he might be able to pet the cat. That was if the cat liked him at all. Dean saw the cat look at him, he smiled and then said, " I'm not going to hurt you. " In a soft voice. As he said this he looked up at Keag with a sort of half smile. He didn't exactly know what to make of the indecisive cat.

Dean kept coming closer, and Keagan shifted a little bit, crossing one stockinged ankle over the other beneath her. The cat had a grip on her denim shorts that seemed as if it would hold him there even if she stood. " I'm not going to hurt you. " Keag wasn't sure if the words were meant for her, the cat, or both, considering the way he glanced up at her and half-smiled. Whichever way it was intended, it struck a nerve. She'd heard those words before; she wasn't sure how false they were that time. She got the look of reminiscence on her face again for a short moment, but patted the cat as it ended. "I don't think he'll bite you," she voiced, her first words since her rambling.

( a little power playness on the cat but i don't think you mind... )
Dean looked back up to Keag from glancing at the cat again to see a thoughtful expression on her face. He didn't know what those words had to do with is but when she came to and told him the cat wouldn't bite him Dean only nodded at first. He then reached forward and pet the cat. He was tentative at first because he still did not know what the cat's, his?, reaction would be.
Dean took it as a good thing when the cat didn't scratch him at all. He then asked Keag, " What's his name? " Curiously. He didn't think she had mentioned it in the time they had spent together talking.

(only if you don't mind my power playing your pet...hehehe)
Lucky for Dean, he had found the spot on top of BK's head where he most liked to be petted - right behind his right ear. The cat finally relinquished it's glare as he bowed his head into Dean's hand and purred. Keagan smiled. "His name is BK; I think you got him to like you, at least a little bit," she replied, laughing the tension away. Darn these memories; she longed for the day when something, or someone, would come along and help her forget.

Dean grinned slightly as he pet the cat in the same spot. Now the animal was purring loudly. He laughed and smiled as he watched BK. It was an interesting name for a cat. He shrugged with one shoulder and said, " He's not such a little devil afterall. " Dean established with a grin as he kept petting the cat. He did like most animals, and most of them liked him. He didn't quite know exactly what it was but he understood them to a certain degree.

"Nah, he's a big softie." Keag laughed again. "He's just protective is all. I'm not quite sure why he was so wary of you, though..." She was still wondering if the cat knew something she didn't, but what that something might be was a mystery to her. It wasn't as if Dean seemed a dangerous sort of person, or someone with a shifty past. 'Oh well,' she thought. 'Maybe it's just kitty intuition or something.'
