Drew cursed under his breath and slunk down in his seat as the Ministry offical made his entrance. Had he just gotten Shaw busted? Dang, he hoped not. Though the subject was definitely hellaboring, Shaw was one of the professors Drew actually liked... and would take his goofing off for what it was.
"We were studying Hellabore last term," he finally piped up, hoping to rectify the situation. "I just wanted to know if we were going to be doing that or... or... Bubotubering today." Dang, he sure hoped Shaw wouldn't bubotuber him for messing around in class.

(Any entrance into my classroom after this time without excuse is a late and points will be deducted)
"Quite alright Mr. Thornton."
No sooner had Drew spoken his apology and made his standard humorous inquiry did Cody Thorne come barging through the door as though he was on a war path to arrest (something Robert actually feared he would do), he produced a document stating clearance to which as a staff member of Hogwarts he had been privy to prior to year beginnings and took a seat in a chair of his own conjuring.
"I know of your clearances there's no need to pull out your paperwork Mr Thorne. Although I would ask you please only comment if you have a question. While you have the ability to entire my room, it is still my domain and is under my discretion." Robert stated calmly, maintaining eye contact until he was finished.
"Now than, seeing as no one else appears to be coming, at the present I believe now is as good a time as any to get started. Welcome, students to your fifth year at Hogwarts, as I'm sure your well aware of at the end of this year you have your O.W.L. exams and most of this year shall be devoted into preparing you for them." He paused, allowing the observer to take down what he pleased and the speech to sink in.
"Now then, seeing as we've had three months of brain draining vacation, I turn the floor to you, as students. What do you, wish to have gone over. Your owls cover everything from first through fourth years. I believe that by now there must be something you wish to have heard again."
This whole situation had him unnerved. He would have taken anyone other than Cody Thorne sitting in on his classes. This was planned and he was sure of it, but as per usual he couldn't prove it.

There it was. An invitation to shout out Hellabore again. But Drew restrained himself. He bit on his lip and kept his eyes low as he furiously wrote out notes. True, they were mostly nonsense, but made him look extremely busy. He vowed that he was not going to be the one responsible for getting Shaw sacked.

Charlie looked on with her usual boredom at the Herbology. How she would ever be able to put her interests in the subject was a difficult mystery. If the the plant didn't shoot out something that could be of use and/or entertainment for her, then there was no way she was going to start scribbling notes furiously.
However, with the presence of YET another ministry member (this one chap looking more official than the usual others), she had a sort of heightened paranoid form of boredom. She looked at the professor with trademark glassy eyes, but every so often she'd look to see if the Ministry dude was looking for something illegal. Course, he was investigating Shaw, but she had to be sure that whatever illegal thing she might have done wasn't known to the man. Not that she did anything illegal... she claims.

Cameron just listened, and wrote things down. Sort of. She had a piece of parchment that she doodled on, and some words on another piece. She looked at the professor, and then at the ministry guy, then back at her paper. Cameron wasn't going to speak, unless she just absolutely had to. She wasn't about to get in trouble. Once more. She had enough trouble with that one night.

"Well, sir," Dorf said with a quick glance at Drew, "if we could go over Hellabore again, that would be just smashing." Dorf had never enjoyed speaking out as she had just done, she always seemed to put her foot into it. But with all that had happened and her questioningly floppy memory she felt she needed a little ... reminding. Herbology was not her favourite subject but she enjoyed it just the same. She was always pleased to see that in this particular class, she did not always look like a dithering imbecile.

Layla was a bit distracted by the Ministry official that had decided to sit in their class that day. it was taking the humor out of the Hellabore comments and making her nervous. She hadn't been prepared to request past subjects to review and made a scribbled note on her parchment to look through a few things before the next class.

Nic was still trying to come up with a name for Dorf and he kept wanting to ask her what her mother's name was. He almost had one when ministry workers and the starting of class began. Quickly taking his seat Nic raised his hand.
"Everything! I forgot or think I forgot everything."
It didn't help NIc was a transfer and he just couldn't understand how plants weren't like muggle plants. They actually moved.

Studying uber monotonous plants was not on the top of her To Do list. But there she was, sitting in her seat lik e a good student with slouched posture and her hand poised to jot down anything of importance that Shaw had to say.
The Ministry official was a bit disturbing. Didn't the adults know that it was hard to learn much when someone was "observing" your moves. Putting people on the spot made them act weird. Perhaps that's what the man wanted. For Shaw to slip up so he had some dirt on the guy.

Jade looked up from digging in her bag when the Ministry official entered. Dammit! Not him! Jade moaned quietly. She had met Mr. Thorne over the summer. When she had been arrested. She didn't particularily like the man and she scrunched down in her seat, hoping, wishing, and praying that he wouldn't see or recognize her.

As he heard a few say what they want to go over, Tristan didn't know one. But heard Nic say he forgot everything. Pretty much Tristan did too. He raised his hand, "Same as Nic, I think. I forgot everything, too," he said to the professor. He wanted to say that so he could tell us everything, and to show Mr. Thorne that Professor Shaw was a great professor. Even though, Tristan hated this class.

"Quite, well as per Miss Morris's request we'll start off the lesson with Hellebore, and from there, well thats up to you. Mr. Torque, Mr. Howard, thank you for your honest answers, However, I don't believe I'll be able to fit everything into one class period." Robert replied making a brief note talk to the two at one point or another to find out what they actually did remember. "Hellebore. Is, as its name suggests rather boring and fairly useless beyond being a potions ingredient and a decorative ornament. It is found scattered across Central and Southern Europe, as wella s the mountainous regions of Greece and Asia Minor, and Mr. Thornton, you'll be pleased to know that after a bit of research over the summer I have found it to infact have a relation to Christmas festivities." Robert lectured, at the end giving a small nod to the Ravenclaw boy. It was a fine example that teachers coulds still be taught, even by random shoutings of seemingly nonsense. Drew slapped his forehead when Tristan and Nic announced they had forgotten everything. Granted, Nic had an excuse, coming into the year late, but what kind of professor would Shaw appear to be if his students still knew nothing?
He took notes furiously, though he already had a good bunch of what was said already written down, punctuating the lecture with a quick "WOO HOO!" at the mention of Christmas. "It's also poisonous, right?" Drew added, hoping to make it clear that Shaw was, indeed, doing his job.

Dorf smiled, happy to have been of some service. She put her wet book in her bag and pulled out her note book and favourite quill. She made notes as Prof Shaw spoke and at the mention of Christmas looked at Drew as he said, "WOO HOO!". Smiling quietly to herself, she turned her attention back to her notes and when Drew posed her question, Dorf looked at the professor and stroked her chin with the feathered end of her quill.

Alexis just listened to whatever the professor was saying. No matter how boring it might have been. Taking notes as Professor Shaw spoke, she couldn't help but snicker when Drew went "WOO HOO!" Of course, it wasn't to much of a surprise. After all, Hellebore was one of his most favorite plants, if not his favorite.
