Cody quietly made notes on his clipboard as Professor Shaw continued on with his lesson. Apparently they had studied the plant Hellabore and had some sort of innuendo that he did not understand. That would be noted as well.
The old Auror was caught off gaurd when a young man uttered an exclaimation rather loudly producing giggles from the rest of the class. Cody raised his hand slightly and then looked to Shaw.
"Professor, if you don't mind me asking, why is there such a love of the plant Hellabore in these students? Do you often allow such utterances during the middle of a lesson? Perhaps you could fill me in on your student's fascination?"

Drew turned around and glared at the man. What did it matter, really? It was ministry curriculum and they were obviously learning AND they were (surprisingly) enjoying the lesson for the most part. Was it a BAD thing to be enthusiastic about a class discussion?
Drew turned back to face Shaw, wondering what he'd say and expecting that, whatever it was, it would be really good.

(Lesson being continued due to ongoing plot purposes site wide. Please take this thread into account when Lesson 2 is posted.--RS)
Actually the Thornton boy's exclamation had been most quiet, much quieter than one would have expected, however, an aurors senses are usually higher than most others. Having been all set to reply to the boy's question, the aurors interruption made him temporarily lose that train of thought.
"Meaning no disrespect Mr. Thorne, to answer your question, I believe having a love or at least interest in a plant, any plant, is something to consider an achievement, as I'm sure even you yourself would agree this is a generally most boring topic. If they find amusement to be a reasonable way to remember their lessons, who am I to hinder their study methods?"
Leaving no room for reply he moved right along to the previous moment's question. "Highly Mr. Thornton, highly poisonous indeed, which the following is something you all should remember. Such is why the root, and sometimes the plant itself is generally ground and used in very minute amounts in potions. Does anyone else have any other tidbits or points they'd wish to bring up before I continue?"

Drew sat back in his seat, feeling a little smug on behalf of Professor Shaw. Yeah, the Herbologist had put that Ministry stiff in his place. Maybe now they'd leave Shaw alone and let the man do his job.
Yeah right. Even Drew knew that was too much to ask.
