(cloooosed.)
She certainly didn't want to go through this. It was hard, especially when she had to tell this crushing news to her boyfriend. Beni had owled Ben, telling him to meet her in the Trophy room after dinner one night. It seemed so unlike her, so unconfrontational of her, but she didn't have the heart or stomach to tell him right out in public or during classes. At one point, she had to tell him. Fourier-Fourier awaited her response.
Her feet planted themselves in front of the biggest trophy case of them all, where a light came upon the shiny treasures. She seemed comforted with telling him here not only because it was almost aways barren, but because there was an unseen amount of courage in the room. She would need all the courage her lion heart could get.

Ben walked happily toward the Trophy Room after dinner, just as Beni requested. She seemed as though she needed to tell him something, but Ben failed to realize how important it might be. The more he thought about it, the more he realized it was probably not going to be good. Just the way her owl had looked. It had been a short letter, very unlike Beni. As he walked, he became slightly worried about what was going to happen. Surely she wasn't...no, that's not right. Not when they still had so much time to spend together. She wasn't calling it all off. Was she?
Rounding the corner, Ben jogged to the Trophy Room, wanting to get there as quickly as he could. He entered the Trophy Room, and his eyes landed on Beni across the way. He sighed deeply as he looked at her from afar, and then walked toward her. "Hey," he said quietly as he came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her stomach and resting his head on her shoulder, "There's something you needed to tell me?"

Her nerves got to her, and her tongue could have tied. But she wasn't one to really keep from talking. So as soon as he asked, she could emit verbal diarrhea. From the reflection he could probably see her rambling on, and by the time she had got to "becauseofyou", she had begun shedding a few tears. No, scratch that, she was sobbing. "I'msosorryIdon'tknowhattodobutIthinkImightchoosequittingschool. I'm so confused!" She turned and gave him a hug. She hated her tendency to cry hysterically, but that was just one thing about her personality. (I had to do something about that run-on :

Ben heard everything that Beni said. Understanding was a whole different thing. A few words that did stick out were "hair salon", "school" and "quitting". Ben wasn't an idiot, and he pieced the puzzle together. Beni was going to leave school for a hair salon.
Too shocked to say anything, Ben just hugged Beni as she turned around and cried hysterically into him. He opened his mouth a few times, but closed it, looking like a fish. It was almost as if he'd lost the ability to talk, but then reality came back and slapped him in the face. Hard. "Wh-what?" Ben choked out, stepping back from Beni slightly, "You wanna leave Hogwarts?!" Ben had almost yelled it at her. He hadn't meant to of course, but Ben had an extremely short temper, and this had definitely set it off.

"I don't want to!" Beni said with her eyes up at him. His outburst scared her a bit, especially when she was a shaky as she was. "I don't want to... but you have to know, Fourier-Fourier's real exclusive, and they love my portfolio. It's either now or never." She rubbed at her eyes, watching the mascara stain her hands. "This isn't an easy decision, so I haven't responded to them yet."

Ben stepped back from Beni even more and turned away from her, running a hand through his hair. This was definitely worse than he thought. Now he wasn't so sure that what he had originally thought was such a bad idea.
No. Ben didn't really mean that. He loved Beni, but he was just angry. She couldn't leave. There was no way. She just couldn't.
...becauseofyou...
And then she had started crying. Ben wished she hadn't started. It was making him want to as well, but he forced himself not to. That was just uncool. He couldn't do that in front of her. But still, he was angry. "If it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing, then just go," Ben said somewhat coldly, with his back still turned.

Beni had to endure harsh sobs to try to understand what he just said. She couldn't understand why the timing was so bad. But in essence, she was getting what she wanted. She wasn't feeling like she could have a career in hairstyling, and all of a sudden there was an exclusive salon offering her great success on a silver platter.
"Wha-What?" She said in a spazzed voice. There was no way she could figure out what they would do about this all.

"I said go!" Ben snapped back, "If it's an offer that won't come around again, take it." He turned around to face Beni for a moment, but he started to breathe heavily, and had to turn his back to her again. He really didn't want to lose it on Beni, but he knew how quickly he could get all worked up, despite his efforts to control it.

Her urges to cry didn't falter. "I don't want to leave you, though!" She said, glad she could get it out in the open. School and friends were great, but she did want to stay for Ben, whether it was a good decision or not. "I... I..." She didn't know what she could say. She wiped at her face again. "... I don't want to make this decision yet. Can you you at least understand that? I still don't what path to take. Please don't..." Her face had fallen and succumbed to gravity. A frown was all she could hold up.

"I do understand," Ben practically snarled at her, but he couldn't help but feel touched that one of her reasons for not answering yet was because she didn't want to leave him. Ben sighed, and turned to face Beni again. "I'm sorry," he said, hanging his head slightly, "I'm over-reacting here. It's just...I don't want to lose you, Beni." Ben took a step closer to the girl and reached out to take her hand in his. "It's a really good opportunity for you, Beni," he replied seriously, but with a smile playing on his lips, "You really should take it."

Her mind had some deep conflicting issues. I think I love him, what about you? IT'S SO SOON! So? All you need is love... With great effort, she didn't allude to her thoughts. But her sobs quieted down to hiccups. "I--hiccup!-- don't want to be-- hiccup!-- leaving you or all of-- hiccup!-- this." She took out a brief moment to iron out herself until she stopped the hiccuping.
Grasping his other hand as he had done with her other, she swung them slightly and then she joined the pairs together. "I'm deciding this not only for your sake, but for also mine. I just wanted to tell you because I want you to be there when I really decide." Heavy as it felt, she could smile again.

Ben sighed slightly, looking down again as Beni continued to speak. Now she was really breaking his heart. A tiny little part of him wished he hadn't met her, so he wouldn't have to go through the pain when she left, but more of him knew that no matter what, the way he felt about her would override the pain. "Well," Ben said, stepping slightly closer again, "I'll be behind you, no matter what you chose to do." He flashed her a warm smile and kissed her softly.

Beni gently let go of his hands and wrapped her own around his neck. She smiled into the kiss, her eyes lighting up despite their closedness. She didn't know how to feel, even as a girl who had boyfriends since the time she knew about crushes and love. But whatever it was, she would have to ponder on it later. She just let herself feel comfort in knowing that he wouldn't abandon her.
Though the kiss was over, she held onto him, giving him another hug. How her heart did flutter.

Ben hugged the girl (his girlfriend? He guessed so...he'd have to get used to that) tightly and sighed out again. "When did you get the letter?" he asked, pulling away from her again and leaning against the wall, sliding down and taking a spot on the floor. He motioned for Beni to take a seat beside him so they could talk.

"Two days before," said Beni as plopped down and pulled her knees to herself. She remembered how she talked with Ivy, and felt that impending danger of even thinking or considering it. "Ivy's the first to hear it, but you and her have only heard about it. But knowing the girl, it won't be quiet news for long." She knew how the grapevine worked.
