[...at another part of the wedding...]
The wedding was beautiful, but there was something gnawing at Kellen. He couldn't very well avoid Allegra the entire party; perhaps it was better to just approach her and say something. Even a simple 'hello' would be better than this. Then, they could talk or go their seperate ways for the night.
There was the issue of the date, however. Kellen wasn't sure who Allegra's bridal party partner was but they seemed closer than just two people who happened to walk together. He hadn't spent the entire night with Magda's best friend and maid of honor when she and his brother had gotten married. The presence of another guy would just complicate things.
Still, he had to say something. He waited until the first dance was over and made his way over to his ex. "Uh, hey," was the first unimpressive thing to come out of his mouth.
[Allegra...and Chad?]

Allegra had watched the newlyweds dance for a bit but was now walking the edges of the wedding reception in the hopes of finding a decent butterbeer somewhere. She couldn't dance at that particular moment but could still enjoy the sight of the Londons floating across the dance floor as she searched for something to quench her thirst.
The walk also gave her a moment to clear her head a little. As she wandered the perimeter, she was far from alone, but she could still be by herself, smiling, but not speaking to anyone who happened to notice her. Had she really seen what she thought she had seen? no, of course not. Kellen wasn't due back in Great Britian for a while yet, and of course he would have written... wouldn't he have?
She found the beverage station and grabbed a bottle, not even bothering with a glass. She didn't even notice the young man who made his way towards her and gave a small squeek of surprise as she heard a familiar voice.
"Kellen?" she asked, turning to look at him with surprise and a bit of wonder. "Kellen!" Ignoring the butterbeer she was holding, she threw her arms around him, unable to help herself. "It was you! What are you doing here? I thought you weren't due back for a few weeks still." She bit on her lip a little nervously as she stepped back, embarassed by her greeting. She was kind of seeing Chad after all and wasn't sure if she was allowed to be so happy to see the boy standing in front of her.

Kellen wasn't sure exactly what he was expecting when she saw that it was him, but a butter-beery, excited and cheerful greeting wasn't even on the list. The embarrassed step back, however, was definitely closer. "Yeah, I just found out a couple of days ago I'd be back early. I didn't think I'd make it to the wedding at all, actually," he said, talking a little quickly, as though he were trying to make up for lost time and cover up the fact that he'd been a horrible long-distance boyfriend. "But, well, uh, plans changed and here I am! Back. In Great Britain." There was an awkwardness that set in with his speech, and part of him believed it just couldn't be helped. "But hey, anyway, how've you been?"

"Me? I've been good! Bridesmaid!" she answered as she motioned to her dress. It all sounded a little too chipper coming out of her mouth. A couple of days. Wasn't that enough time to send an owl? She was a little hurt that he hadn't told her.
No... warned her. He had come back and there she was, paired up with someone else. How awful was she? Granted, they had agreed on a hiatus, but she was still worried about how it all looked.
"So how are you doing?" she asked, trying to remember how long it had been since she had last written him. It had to have been at least a couple of weeks, maybe a month... or more? She could hardly blame him for not owling her he was coming back.

"Good. You know, getting back into the swing of things," he said, nodding a bit. "I was going to owl you when I got back to meet up sometime, but I just got back yesterday and was staying with my brother, and then this morning with the rest of my family and I just hadn't got around to it yet..." He was making excuses. He knew it, and he figured it was a pretty good guess that she knew it too.
"So. This is a really nice wedding," he said, like, what a cliche thing to say. "Last time I saw the Courtyard looking this brilliant, we had something to do with it."

Chad had lost track of Allegra for a bit, but it hadn't really bothered him. It wasn't until her voice had floated across the air that he saw where she was, her arms flung around some other guy in an exceptionally excited kind of way. The napkin he'd been playing with was quickly crushed into a crumpled mess and he stood up, hands in his pockets as he made his way through the crowd to where the two were standing.
"Hi..." Chad greeted the girl, standing a bit away from the two as he spoke and trailed off.

Allegra put a hand up to her face, hiding a giggle over Kellen's mention of their courtyard redecoration. It had also been a glorious morning, the first time he had kissed her if she remembered correctly. She wasn't about to forget that day anytime soon.
"So you're staying with your brother? How is he... both of them... how are they doing?" she asked, knowing there had been some difficulties regarding bloodlines and such when Kearney and Magda got married. With Shaw and his gang so active now, there must have been difficult times.
It wasn't long before another familiar voice met her ears. She turned to see her date standing next to her. Allegra decided it was only going to be awkward if she allowed it to be. "Chad! This is Kellen! Kellen... Chad," she introduced them with a wide grin, seeing no reason at all that they couldn't get along. She and Kellen had been on somewhat of a break, and Chad hadn't discussed any sort of serious relationship with her.
"Chad's our new Quidditch ref... and Kellen, well I suppose you'd be at Mungo's now, right?" she continued, turning between both of them as she spoke.

Kellen offered a handshake to the young man, keeping his curiosity over what exactly the relationship between he and Allegra was to himself for the moment. "Nice to meet you, Chad," he said in a friendly tone. "Yeah, I'll be starting at St. Mungo's on Wednesday, actually," he said to answer Allegra's question. A few days off would probably do him good, really.
"But Quidditch ref, yeah? That's pretty brilliant," he added, for the sake of making small conversation. "Seen any good matches lately?"

"Hey Kellen," Chad answered, trying his best to be pleasant as he shook the boy's hand. He pulled his hand back as the two continued their conversation until Kellen turned back to him. His hands had already gone back in his pockets as he looked at the boy. "Not since the pitch was closed," the ref answered simply.

"We've had a bit of a rough time this year," Allegra understated, a wry smirk crossing her face. The pitch had been closed right after the Deva invasion, but even before that, the quidditch season had seen its share of problems: drunk referees, lost game records, and a Hufflepuff-Ravenclaw game that resulted in half the players seriously injured. The pitch pretty much needed to close if only to clean up the mess.
"But when it opens again, you'll have to come see the team play," Allegra added, looking over at Chad as if expecting him to back up her invitation. It was officially his pitch after all. "It's kind of weird being in the stands though after all those years, but good to see everyone play."

"Hey, absolutely," Kellen agreed enthusiastically. "I haven't actually been to a match since I left school. How's Ravenclaw doing this year?" he asked, curious to see how they'd have held up and moved on without him and Allegra. "I mean, before the pitch closed? Who'd they get to replace us, then?"
In his time at Hogwarts, Kellen had played Keeper for a number of years and had really enjoyed it--most of the time, at least. There were a few matches that hadn't exactly gone the best they could have, but Ravenclaw had always had a strong team. "Did you play at school, Chad? I mean, I have to assume you must've..."

Chad looked between Allegra and Kellen, feeling on the outside of what was going on. It was clear that they had a friendship back in school and that they were close, but Chad was sensing that there might have been more to it. Maybe he was just being paranoid.
"Yeah, I did," Chad answered when he finally got the chance to speak again, "Beater was my spot. What about you?"

"Keeper," Kellen volunteered. He hadn't been too bad at it, either--at least, he'd been passable. "Some of the funnest things at Hogwarts happened on the Quidditch Pitch, you know?" In a way, Kellen hadn't realized how much he'd missed the sport.
Part of him was dying to know what, exactly, was the relationship between Chad and Allegra, but he couldn't bring himself to just right out and ask. He decided to try and put the focus back on her and see how that went. "Of course, Allegra was brill as captain. You know. As she can be," he teased lightly, but meant it. Allegra was one of the smartest and most focused people he'd ever known.

"Beater..." Allegra teased Chad, poking at his side. The Ravenclaw beaters were a team to be reckoned with but notorious for getting into hot water off the field. Actually, a number of the house team beaters were a bit loose when it came to following rules. She didn't think Chad had been that type, but it was fun to tease him.
"We have Jax now, and she's really good, but Kellen's the best Keeper we've ever had," Allegra added, blushing a little at her former housemate's compliment. "I know we wouldn't have done as well as we did without him, and I sure wouldn't have been able to do much of anything without his help." They had been a good team, both on and off the pitch.

Chad looked over at Allegra as she poked him, not as amused as he used to be. There was a sharp pain in Chad's heart as his eyes continued to follow back and forth with the two, making their compliments to each other and seeing Allegra blush. He nodded his head slightly, knowing now that there must have been something more. Chad took half a step back from them and looked at Allegra.
"I'll let you two catch up, alright?" Chad volunteered, taking a few more steps back, "Seems like you've got a lot to talk about."
