Milo wasn't late. Yet. He was tearing down the corridor, trying to make it to his class on time before he would lose points. As a first year, he knew it wouldn't go over well if he was losing points for his house already. As he entered the room, he was relieved to see that they were only just starting and he wasn't late. Coming into the room, he noticed an open spot and it was the first one he saw. It just so happened that it was right next to Harper.
Flashing the girl a broad smile, Milo sat down as the professor started talking and welcoming them to the class. Milo wasn't really listening. Even though his head was in the direction of the professor, his eyes were off to the side and he was watching Harper. Creepy? Kind of. Crushing? Definitely. Ewww...

Sally laughed at Maddy. She was trying to hide the fact that she did not know which answer of hers to believe. So she just nodded at her. Sally's attention then turned to something happening between the teacher and some students. She watched what was happening but was not really taking notice of what they were saying.
Something caught Sally's eyes at the back of the room. She turned and noticed the boy she had met at the Three Broom Sticks, Benji, walked in and take a seat. She managed a small wave in his direction, making sure the teacher had not seen. Sally wished that their was a spare seat for him but there wasn't. Her gaze still in the direction of the door, saw Milo, a boy she had met last night walk in and take a seat next to a person she had not yet met.
Sally then turned back around in her seat and listened to their teacher, Professor Raynor. She heard the teacher say it would be one of their hardest subjects, she was a little worried. She wasn’t always the best at school work. She would just have to try hard and put a lot of her effort in.

Hannah gave Braxton a small smile, though she was happy that Braxton was allowed to stay in the class and all, she just didn't think it was fair that Professor Raynor was going to kick him out in the first place, sure Braxton had picked on Trixi, but Trixi was the one that pushed Braxton to the ground.
One thing was for sure though, Hannah WAS NOT going to play up in this class, no siree, Professor Raynor was scary, plenty more scarier than that potions professor too. Plus, she was Hannah's Head of House and Hannah was sure that Professor Raynor could kick her out of Ravenclaw and put her in another house if she played up. Hannah didn't want that, she liked Ravenclaw, all her friends were in there.

Dang. She had missed it. Even though she had been here the whole time, Elizabeth had missed getting into a good brawl. She got plenty of practice at home and could certainly kick butt with any one of her classmates. And not just because she was bigger than them. She supposed it was good that she hadn't gotten involved, though. What with the detention from potions, she really didn't want another one. Still, she was feeling disappointed that she couldn't get a few punches in.

Adrian quickly slipped into Defense Against the Dark Arts, and he couldn't help feeling he had missed something. Grumbling slightly, he grabbed a desk, trying to shake off the feeling of not being left out. He was looking forward to the lesson, even though Prof. Raynor was a hardcase. DADA was the coolest lesson, by far. But, it wasn't easy, he knew. He cursed himself for not coming earlier. That would have made a much better impression.

Peyton knew she was late and she hated herself for it already. She didn't understand how she could possibly be late and out of all the classes she had it just had to be the one her head of house taught. She grimaced to herself as she ran to the classroom. She couldn't help but repeat over and over in her head that maybe she had miraculously gained the power to be invisible as she slipped in during their professor's speech.
Having sat down in the quickest available one she'd ended up on the other side of Brax. After hearing their professor's words she couldn't help but notice how melancholy Brax looked causing a slight frown on her lips, "Are you okay?" she asked in a mere whispher to him.

Nadia didn't even bother trying to hide the fact that she was late for the lesson. She rarely found the need to hide anything as far as things she considered unimportant. All things considered she knew she wouldn't have missed anything all that important. She couldn't help the soft groan that escaped her lips upon finding the whole class was pretty much packed except for an empty seat by a boy she noted was also a Slytherin.
She would have even gone so forth as to search for a seat without anyone sitting by her until she noted the boy didn't seem to be in a happy go lucky mood so perhaps was her safe bet. Taking the seat beside him she absently began to fiddle with a quill.

Braxton didn't see the smile that Ryan or Hannah had given him. He wasn't really paying attention to anything, not even the little speech. Well he had been paying enough attention to register that his name was said, but the rest of the speech didn't get much further then barely registering with him. Heck he barely even noticed that someone had come and sat right next to him. It wasn't until she spoke that he noticed it was Peyton. "Oh hey Peyton," he said looking over in her direction but not taking his head off of his bag. "And yeah I'll be fine." he added not wanting her to worry about him. He would get over it soon enough, but just not yet. It was still to fresh on his mind.

Making a note to talk to Turner and Spicer after class given their bewildered and sour expressions, Raynor waited for anyone to try and take her offer. Considering this batch of first years... it really would not surprise her. But much to her delight, no one did, very good, there was still hope for them. Then a handful of students entered her room late. Granted it was a subtle start of the lesson as actual teaching had not begun, but it did start. One or two came in while she was still introducing, but those clearly late? Raynor was not bound to make an exception.
A quick glance at her roster and freshly lit up names to make sure she had them right, Raynor tisked. "Ten more points from Slytherin, and five from Ravenclaw. Mr. Lampard and Misses Fitzgerald and Ivanova, you are late. If it happens again, it will be ten a piece.
Waiting for everyone to take a seat and get settled down, she continued with the actual lesson, opening with a question in her usual manner.
"Some of you come from wizarding families, some of you do not. Though I am sure each of you has at least heard of the 'Dark magic' by now, or has your own idea of what it may be. That said, I have one simple question for you: What is the Dark Arts?"

Ryan was a muggle born, but he still thought he knew what the Dark Art's meant. Didn't they just mean magic that was used for an evil purpose? Well that's what he had gathered from the little information that he had heard on the subject. Raising his hand he thought he would give it a shot. "Umm, is it like the magic used for an evil or dark purpose, or somthing." Ryan said a little timidly not normally liking to draw attention to himself, especiallly to his lack of knowledge of the wizarding world.

Braxton just looked on and listened as the lesson finally got underway. Sure he knew, or thought he knew, what the Dark Arts were. However, he wasn't sure he wanted to give his opinion on the matter. Someone else would surely do it, right? Yep and there it was, Ryan had answered to the best of his knowledge. Smiling slightly, and I mean very slightly, Braxton was glad that his fellow Raven had attempted the question. He knew how shy Ryan could be, and trust me Brax was working on that, so he was glad that he had given out his view. Looking back in Ryan's direction with a slight smile he mumbled, "Not bad for a muggle." Of course he knew Ryan would know he was just messing.

Jet was thinking about answering, but decided against it because of 1) He didn't have a very good idea what to say about Dark Magic and 2) Another boy had gotten to the answer before the Gryffindor had. Jethro didn't mind, after all maybe there was something else in this class that he may be able to answer, some thing maybe a little more... practical to Jethro. The Gryffindor listened to the Ravenclaw boy's answer, and a small smile turned to his face. The boy looked to Summer and smiled, his blue eyes twinkling. Jet then drew his eyes from Summer, and looked back up to the Professor, to see what she had to say next.

Ryan wasn't exactly sure that his answer was anywhere near correct, but when Braxton mumbled 'Not bad for a muggle' he had to smile. He knew that Brax wasn't being mean to him or belittling the knowledge that he had and the answer that he had given. After all, almost everything that he knew about the magical world so far was from Braxton and his family and it didn't matter to him in the least that he was a muggle born. To him that was just as good as a pure blood and he knew Braxton didn't care either. Ryan turned around in his seat to face Braxton and said with a cocky smile, "Darn right it wasn't." He was just messing with Braxton at this point, maybe he could even get him to smile a little.

Braxton just laughed and smiled a little wider as he shook his head in response to Ryan's answered back. Still looking back in his direction he added with a small smirk, "Cocky aren't we?" He knew Ryan wasn't being serious, and neither was he, but still he couldn't help but say it.
Messing with Ryan had caused his mood to improve slightly. Sure he wasn't back to how he had been before it happened, but at the moment he wasn't really dwelling on it so that counted for something.

Ryan was glad to see at least for a moment Braxton was smiling, well kind of smiling. He was just about to say 'Yep' when he remembered they were in Raynor's class. Not really daring to voice his opinion he just smirked over in Braxton's direction. That was sure to get the same point across as he would have actually voicing a yep. After all the smirk clearly said, 'you betcha.' Then seeing Braxton turn back around to the front he too glanced back up in the professors direction.
