Brittany was glad for the sinking sun in the sky. It had been a terribly long day of shelving, filing, and organizing. Kids had been piling in all day for some long potions essay that had been assigned. Almost all of the books on the history of potions were checked out or scattered all around the room. She did not understand how it was so difficult to put a book back in the right spot. The upside about it was that she was allowed to take as many books as she wanted and surrounded by quiet all day. There was always time to read or simply sit and think. It was the most attractive point about being a librarian. The most unattractive being the job title.
However, it was finally time for the annual closing of the library doors. Each evening after dinner she fulfilled the small task that was laid before her of turning out the remaining students for the night. She went around to the various tables informing students that they had another five minutes to check out what they needed. "There is always bright and early tomorrow morning," Brittany told them kindly.
Striding happily throught the various aisles towards the large oak doors of the library she decided that she was going to stay in the library a bit longer to read. It was a random night that she felt like doing so, but she figured that she needed to catch up on some reading. Her lame life allowed her to do such things.
Brittany stood in the doorway of the library and placed her hand on one of the doors. Looking out across the almost empty hallways, she watched a shadow on the stairs to the library grow larger. Curiously, she raised an eyebrow as she wondered who would be coming up to the library so late.

Okay...okay, you can do this. It's not a big deal, just...go say hi. No problem at all, Nathan coached himself as he came into the castle. After working all day outside, he was exhausted and the nice shower he'd had had been nice. Now that he was clean and presentable, the groundskeeper couldn't help himself from heading up to the library he had so longed to visit since the day he'd met the beautiful librarian. His face flushed a deep shade of red as the memory passed through his mind and he stopped, giving himself a moment to recoup. It had taken a lot of nerve to even open the castle door and now that he found himself on the freaking stairs. He stopped again, halfway up and fixed the collar of his shirt. Nathan hadn't meant to dress so fancy, but he'd gotten changed in a daze. With another sigh, he came up the last few steps and turned toward his destination.
"Oh," he gasped when he saw Brittany standing right in front of him, "Hi. I...I hope I'm not disturbing you or anything."

Brittany had thought that the person was turning around when the shadow on the wall stopped. She had been reaching for the other door to close off the library when a familiar face popped up from around the corner. Standing in front of her was the man that she had met a couple of weeks ago in Diagon Alley. The woman had been a bit too outgoing in her opinion when she had met Nathan and his son Cooper. With that she decided to just pray to run into him around the castle. Of course, that hadn't worked since he was outside working about the grounds most of the time. Now, he was standing right in front of her and she felt her stomach do a flip at the thought of him coming to find her.
"Hello, you're not disturbing anything. Just seeing off the last of the students." Brittany explained her presence at the doors.
Dropping her hands, she took in the full sight of Nathan. He was dressed nicely with a kind smile set into his face. She was thankful that she looked better than the last time that he had seen her. The woman had her long brown hair down in waves and was sporting her usual robes that she was required to wear. Underneath her robe she was in simple black dress slacks matched with a crimson top. Her clothes did not match his in being dressy, but she was at least glad to have something nice on this time around.
A smile broke across the woman's face as she remembered that he had asked to see her again. It was something that she had thought about every so often and made going out side more very tempting. "Everyone has left. If you want, you can come in." Brittany told him, hoping that he would agree to.

"I'd love to," Nathan agreed, stepping into the library and brushing softly past her. Whatever it was, her perfume or her shampoo, filled his nose as he passed and breathed in deeply. It was a sweet smell and he almost lingered to get another breath of her but he kept walking. Inside the library, it was quiet and exceptionally empty. He took a quick look around the place, glancing at the shelves and the rows and rows of books that lined them. Nathan turned back to Brittany and flashed her a playful grin. "So this it is, huh?" he asked her, his hands slipping casually into his pockets, "This is your domain?"

It took Brittany a moment after Nathan walked past her to gather her wits. The simplest touch wreaked so much havoc on her mind. Closing the doors and turning towards him, she watched his first impression of the library. It was a lot to take in, the books upon books that seemed to go on for miles. Not to mention the locked cage in the back that marked off the restricted section. At first look it was a little forboding. Walking to his side, she smiled at his comment.
"Yes this is it," Brittany stepped ahead of him and pulled a presentation pose off of a popular American television show.
She laughed at her self and added, "This is where I'm hidden throughout most of the day. I'm most likely here if you can't find me." Brittany reassured him as she pushed a stray piece of hair behind her ear. Walking back towards him, she wondered breifly what had motivated him to finally come looking for her. Momentarily, she entertained the idea that he had been looking for Cooper or something. Her logical reasoning shot this down, to her delight, because if he was looking for Cooper he would have asked about him immediately.
"So what brings you to the library?" Brittany asked with a bit of a teasing tone in her voice. She tossed a curious look at him as she seated her self on the corner of an empty table near the two of them.

Nathan chuckled at her as well as she showed off the library. His eyes followed her as she walked around him, never letting her out of his sight for even a moment. Nathan smirked teasingly in response to her teasing question, but it also made him a little bit nervous. Should he really tell her that she was the only reason he was here? The only other times Nathan really ventured into the castle was for meals and to find Cooper. He was sure she didn't know that. He sighed softly, his hand coming up out of his pocket as he scratched the back of his head nervously. It had been a nervous twitch of his when he was a teenager and somehow it had decided to come back.
"I um...actually wanted to see you," he confessed finally, following her to the table and taking a seat next to her, "After our lunch, I...I couldn't wait to see you again." Oh you did not just tell her that! Nathan scolded himself silently the moment the words were out of his uncontrollable mouth.

Brittany felt her cheeks turn a couple shades lighter than the color of her shirt. Looking down into her lap, she tried to make her self stop smiling like a fool. The more she attempted this, the more she wanted to keep smiling. It was weird to have someone flirting with her again and to be flirting again. The entirety of her love life was comprised of two relationships. One completely bogus that lasted for just a few months or so and the other quite the opposite. Since her last long relationship she had barely even thought about being with someone else. That was no longer the caser when she was around Nathan. The fact that she was even thinking about relationships at the moment was totally wrong on so many levels.
"Really?" Brittany asked, not expecting an answer. "I had a lot of fun with you and Cooper."
She watched him out of the corner of her eye, not daring to look back up yet. The woman was trying to wait out the sudden flush of color that had came to her checks at his very honest remark. She found her self thumbing the edge of her robe that hung losely over the table. The space and layers that seperated them didn't seem to take any edge off of Nathan's body heat. She was inately aware of him right by her side and concious of how close her face would be to his if she looked up.
"How is Cooper?" Brittany asked genuinely, even though she had seen him the other day. It was an excuse. An excuse to look back up at him. As she did so, she let her upper body ease back a bit so that she wasn't right in his face.

Nathan was incredibly aware of how close she was when she finally looked up at him and asked about Cooper. For a moment, his mind had gone blank. Cooper? Cooper who? Oh yeah, his son. That Cooper. "He's...great," Nathan answered awkwardly, watching intently as she made a move to back away from him. He wished she hadn't. Subconsciously, he moved forward to her and breathed in. Her scent filled his nose once more and a moment later, he was lost in it. Nathan couldn't understand where this magnetic pull within him had come from, but Brittany seemed to have the polar opposite within her. When he was near, he felt compelled to be even closer to her. He sighed lightly, his eyes looking over her face.
"There's...something I've been meaning to do," Nathan told Brittany in a breathy whisper. His lips couldn't stand not being connected to hers for another minute. The groundskeeper leaned in slowly, his eyes slipping shut as his lips finally pressed against hers. Nathan's hand crept up from his side, coming to rest on her cheek as he pulled her a little closer to him. He took the opportunity to breath her in deeply again and the man lingered on the beautiful woman's lips. He could stay there forever. Or at least as long as she was willing to let him.
But a moment later, reality came back and he couldn't ignore the alarms in his head any longer. Nathan pulled away from her lips and sat back in his chair. Damn. "I'm sorry," the man apologized meekly, "I...that was forward. I'm sorry."

Brittany had furrowed her brow curiously as he told her he had something he'd been meaning to do. She had no idea what direction his mind had been going. Not that her mind hadn't wondered there before. His lips were soft as they brushed against hers. She was caught in the wake of his gentle touch and her own surprise. As his hand went to the side of her cheek, the rest of her thoughts melted away. She was frozen in place and wanted it no other way.
The woman closed her eyes as Nathan held his lips to hers and the seconds ticked by. Her heart was pounding inside her chest and she was sure that he could hear it as if it were right next to his ear. The rest of the room melted away as she took in everything about him. Then, as soon as it had happened, it was over. Her eyes flew open at his absensce. There expression filled with curiousity of why exactly he had left. Brittany's lips tingled slightly, still feeling the effects of his lips on them.
"No," Brittany started as he apologized.
As everything came into focus, she realized that he was no longer by her side but in a chair. Blinking a couple of times so that the room settled back where it should be, she looked over at Nathan's face. He was apologizing and she wanted more. "How horrible does that sound?" Brittany thought. Her eyes didn't leave Nathan as thoughts ran wild through her mind. Everything came rushing back at one time in her head and she tried to sort through her feelings. She was definitely sure that she wanted a repeat of what had just happened.
Brittany smiled at him widely, not being able to control doing so. "That was...wow." Her mind was blank and she felt like a silly school girl for a moment, not having anything to say. "You've been meaning to do that have you?"

A million things ran frantically through his mind when she said no. What was she saying no to? No to him kissing her, no to him pulling away? No, get the hell out my library you freak? Maybe not. He watched her curiously as she looked at him and smiled a broad, beautiful smile. It made him melt inside. The man blushed violently as she complimented his kiss, claiming it to be "wow". He hadn't thought he was that good at it, but apparently she thought so. His smile mimicked hers, unable to stay off his face. It lit up all his features and for the first time in a long while, he felt genuinely happy. He felt that closeness that had escaped him for longer than he wished to remember and it was all a little too much for him. Nathan's breath got caught in his throat and he forced a chuckle out at her comment.
"Yeah...yeah, I have," he admitted, a hint of seduction in his voice. His eyes quickly flicked over her face again and he moved himself closer to her again. He cautiously rested his hand on her thigh as he pressed his lips on hers again, taking her reaction as a green light to kiss her again.

As Nathan smiled, Brittany knew that all traces of his apology were gone. He was obviously not worried about being forward anymore as he came back to sit closer to her. She happily obliged him with another kiss as he leaned into her again. It was a crazy thing, how situations could turn around in a matter of moments. Just a few minutes ago she was showing him into the library and they were friends. Now she was kissing him in the library, quite casually. It was a shock to think of.
"I am extremely glad that you did." Brittany told him, pulling a few inches away from his face.
She laughed and bit down on her full bottom lip. This was the second time that they had seen each other. It was an interesting thing to have only seen someone twice and the second time around be kissing them. Brittany didn't particularly care to think about what that meant. She didn't want to. Nathan was attractive, very attractive. She couldn't remember the last time someone had looked at her like he was at the moment.
Brittany wasn't exactly sure what to do now. An extremely large part of her was begging to kiss him again but she could not very well sit on a table and snog him all night. "I have no idea what to do now," Brittany told him honestly in a whisper. She giggled quietly and kissed him once more.

"We could keep doing this," Nathan teased playfully when she kissed him again. He could definitely get used to this. He did find it a little odd that this had happened so quickly, but it strangely didn't bother him. Nathan liked kissing Brittany and he definitely liked the taste of her lips. He glanced around him at the empty library, a million ungodly things running through his mind. Nathan was a little ashamed of those thoughts and he pushed them from his mind as best he could. "Or we could sit here and talk," he suggested afterward.

Brittany scrunched up her nose at the thought of making more small talk. She couldn't bare it. Besides, when she spoke to Nathan she usually ended up saying something stupid or walking into a subject that should not be brought up. She watched him as he looked around the vacant library and wondered what he was thinking of. It was hard to tell with him, especially after the last fast one he pulled on her. She gave up guessing what was going on in his mind and went back to figuring out her own thoughts.
"I vote this!" Brittany told him enthusiastically.
For a moment she almost moved closer to him, but stopped her self. Being closer might lead to other surprises and she wanted to be a bit more catious of her actions. Instead, she moved her hands to where one of his rested on her lap. Taking his hand in both of hers, she looked down as her fingers traced the contours of the palm of his hand. Carefully, she slid one of her hands into his and laced their fingers. It was something that she had wanted to do the first day that she met him.
Looking back up at Nathan, satisfied with the placement of her hand she kissed him again. This time she didn't pull away after a couple of seconds. Brittany's lips parted slightly as she breathed in Nathan's scent and dared to tread in new territory.

Brittany seemed content with just kissing him and he was in no position to complain. He watched her hands take his and trace along his palm. It sent a shiver through his entire body, the way she touched him. He liked her soft touch, even on his rough, work-worn hands. The groundskeeper smirked as she laced their fingers and he gave her hand a light squeeze to let her know he liked it. Nathan kissed her back, feeling her part her lips and started to feel a little adventurous. His lips curled into a smile and he tested her boundaries by attempting to let his tongue into her mouth. Nathan wasn't sure how far she'd let him go, but he wasn't afraid to test it.
Nathan's free hand ventured to her cheek once more and he turned himself in the chair to face her. He leaned in even more, his kiss getting hungrier the longer he lingered on her lips. He just couldn't get enough.

Brittany was more than content to go along with Nathan's actions. She kept hold of his hand as he deepened the kiss further. The young woman could once more feel her heart pounding in her chest. She felt the edges of his mouth turn up into a smile and her own followed suit. Her lips were shaped to his and moved accordingly. Her breath went ragged with the force of excitement. There was passion behind her kiss. She could no longer hold back. No longer wanted to.
Putting her hands against Nathan's strong chest, she pulled away from him gently. Brittany's arms didn't push him away. In fact, they were screaming to pull him back towards her. Every inch of her was yelling objections to her actions. It took every ounce of self-control in her to not slip right back into his arms. Her hands lightly rested on his chest still she told him quite out of breath, "Maybe we should talk a bit."
With a weak smile, she angled a chair across from Nathan and settled into it. She took her time breathing in and out for a moment, trying to be as quiet as she possibly could. Once she gathered her wits about her, she looked up into Nathan's face. She had known that she needed to take like five steps back before going further. That kiss, their hands entangled, and her thoughts roaming free were too much. Too much in the past five minutes.
"Sorry, I was just..." Brittany tried to think of a way to put it without giving away too much of what she had been thinking of. "Just a little swept away I think."
