Charlie wasn't hungry.
Well, actually-- to rephrase the statement-- she wasn't hungry anymore. After two sandwiches between classes and two helpings of pasta and peach cobbler gobbled up in half the time allotted for dinner, she decided to not eat anymore before she got too full and leave the Great Hall earlier to wait for Drew on the sixth floor. She had asked him before in class to meet her somewhere, and he suggested the sixth floor corridor to talk. So far he had an idea of what she wanted to talk about-- learn more about training, get some plan together, etc-- but she had no idea that Drew wanted to say something else to her. For now she kept her focus on staying in the corridor, leaning on a wall near a window, looking out for anyone who wasn't her Ravenclaw friend.
Charlie highly anticipated the talk after they made plans for it-- the bits of encouragement from Hiro allowed her to think more into the resources under her nose-- the method of strength in numbers. Although she was still so sure that some of the things she wanted to do was something she wanted to do alone, she was growing sober from her anger and seeing that being the only one in a fight wasn't becoming a good idea. She just wasn't keen on having her important people get hurt in any way.
Before long, it had been five minutes before they had set off a time to meet. Now just came down to a few words.

{Which one? } Drew had eaten early, finding the Great Hall quieter at that time and better for thinking. Charlie wanted to speak to him about something important, and from what she had told him, it sounded like something he might want to discuss with her too. But could he be sure? He and Charlie had an unusual relationship. The majority of the time, he dealt with her under the belief that she would sell him up the river for the right price, but deep down, he was confident... mostly confident... fairly confident... she was one of his best friends and could be trusted. He mulled it all over as he ate his mashed potatoes, getting some odd looks from his dinner comapanions as he poked at his food silently. Eventually, he returned to the common room, grabbing a few books and things to give any passers by the impression that he and Charlie were just studying. The place he had suggested for their meeting was at the juncture of two long hallways on the sixth floor. It was out in the open to prevent the onslaught of gossip, but hardly ever traveled. And if someone did happen to wander down either hallway, the vantage point made their approach easily seen before any conversation could be heard. Making sure he wasn't being followed, he jogged down the steps to the sixth floor and slowed as he turned the corner, seeing the Slytherin was already there and waiting for him. It must be important if she was early. He had expected to wait for her. "Sup," Drew greeted, dropping his bookbag on the floor and taking a seat next to it. He had considered asking Hiro along for this particular "study session" but figured if Charlie had wanted him there, she would have asked him herself.

[well it certainly wasn't you, but now I gotta deal with your presence ] "Hey, man," Charlie nodded at him and tried to rip her eyes away from the window. There was nothing exciting outside, but she had done a bit more thinking and now it seemed hard to stop. To her bit of horror, she noticed that when she was in deep contemplation of something, she sometimes had a hard time just going through with something. Right now had been the case. She wasn't doubting herself to ask him, but she was just at a loss for words. "So, dude," she started after the briefest pause, not wanting to beat around the bush. "Me and Hiro got to talking, and I told him something... well, I realized I need more work on my spells and stuff... for attacks.... on the Deva." It sounded almost a little juvenile after she said it, but it was the only way she could just blurt it out.

Drew had expected at least a little bit of hemming and hawing, before getting to the subject of the Deva. He hadn't even been entirely sure that's what Charlie wanted to discuss, so it was quite a shock when she just came out and said it.
"You want to attack the Deva," Drew repeated and it was neither a question or a surprise that she did. "I'm just a kid who wants to be an Auror when he grows up. What do you think I can do?" he asked seriously, knowing he probably could do at least a little something. And while he almost completely trusted Charlie, he needed to know what she already knew.

Charlie looked him straight in the eye as he spoke, not necessarily scrutinizing, but more like planning her plan of attack on this subject. She wasn't sure, but perhaps he was just recoiling at the thought of the Deva. For a moment, she thought he didn't want to help... but she continued to pursue the subject, and continue to get closer to her goal.
"You know more about spells than I do. You know Raynor more, and she knows all about Auror stuff," She left her spot at the wall and began to pace slightly as she said this. Measuring up everything she said, she knew what he had and what she didn't. "Dude... you got resources that I ain't got, but I gotta use." She sighed, finding that what she said next really defined her purpose for asking him to come in the first place. "I need to take down my brother, who's a Deva."

"Dude, if anyone knows Raynor, that would be you," Drew pointed out, and while his vocie held a hint of a tease, he continued to be serious... expecially when she stated why.
"You're brother... that's harsh," he said sympathetically. He had heard that the Deva had some offshoots over in the states, but no one took them very seriously. It was one of the reasons Drew felt they had to take care of the situation over here as soon as possible, before it spread any more. "You really think you can do that? Take down your brother?"

She sort of made an assented grunt at the part about Raynor, but didn't think much of it. The woman was often incommunicado now that she was headmistress. Not to say she didn't think she didn't care anymore, but Charlie didn't see the point in worrying her further. It was bad enough seeing her reaction when she handed in her prefect badge.
Thinking about that for a flash of a second, she tried again to not to miss it. It had been months now that she didn't feel the weight of the badge on her chest.
"Yeah, I think I can, man," Charlie said with a nod. "He's stupid but he's not all cold. He's gotta have some weak link in him that I can take over so he can go to prison." She paced further and further, making sure to look down the halls to see if anyone was hearing them. "I can't go home normally 'til I get him."

Drew became quiet for a moment, something he tended to do when he was contemplating things. He scratched at his nose and gave a long sigh, just thinking about how tough it would be to have to take down a family member.
But it had to be done. And if Charlie was that determined to do it, he was pretty sure he could help... or direct her to people who could.
"I think we could probably work something out," he told her, glancing briefly down both hallways. "There's kind of... a group."

Charlie stopped her pacing right in front of him, giving him a one second stare. "... Really? What do you mean?" She looked at him closely for the first time in a long time, to understand better what he was talking about. "Don't tell me there's a group that works on Defense Against the Dark Arts and you haven't told me!" She didn't know what else it could be but that. Without that class that seemed so essential, there had to be a reason to be more guarded than usual. The absence of a practical class was becoming a weakness in her school. There were only so many Aurors that they could cram into that castle...

"It's not exactly like that..." Drew said carefully, again glancing down both hallways to make sure they were clear. Her words had gotten him thinking though. How could any of them hope to be safe from Shaw and his goons if they weren't even getting the basics in a Defense class?
"It's more of... a group working against the Deva," he told her in a low voice, again thinking that it wasn't much of a group. Most of the time it seemed as if they were relying on the Ministry to find the Deva and bring them to justice. "But maybe... maybe starting up our own Defense classes... that's where we need to start."

"Go back a bit, though," Charlie said, making a gesture to return to his original comment. While she was glad to not have been left behind on an idea like that, but the idea Drew put forth intrigued Charlie immensely. It made sense though. There had to be a ying to the yang. She could all of a sudden see two sides and one line being drawn down the middle. She wanted to be on the right side. "You're tellin' me there's like a resistance group that actually wants to do somethin' so we can stop dealing with the Deva's crap?" She considered this for a moment.
"Sign me up, man!"

"Dude, it's kind of underground right now," he told her in a low voice. "Not a whole lot of people yet. It's really just a handful now. We're still trying to figure everything out." The biggest problem he saw was he was stuck in school and really couldn't do much about it.
"But yeah. We need good people," he continued, wanting to be clear that he wanted her on his team in this. "But no one's going to be doing much of anything unless we get Defense classes up and running again."

"Yeah you're so damned right!" Charlie said as she began to pace around. "The stupid Ministry-- they ain't got no right to rub their noses in our business! It's been months since I seen a Defense class, and we need it freakin' now." She tried to think about it. "We need an easy solution. Do you think Raynor won't stop us if we decide to hold some classes? That way we don't have to run around behind her back, setting up complicated stuff in the Room of Requirement." She chewed the tips of her fingernails, as she did when she put forth a lot of thought into something. "The parents care enough for them to put it back up, right? In the meanwhile, we can hold it as a club, without an obvious name for it."
Charlie looked back at Drew. "Tell me more about the group. I'll help you guys out with anything, 'slong as I get help on capturin' Mike."

Drew wasn't sure about letting Raynor in on their plans, at least not officially. "Honestly? I think she'd want us to do something, but as the Headmistress, I don't think she can allow it to happen," he said. "If we tell her, it would have to be in a real broad, round-about way so that she could get it, but not so that we flat out tell her. That make sense?" They'd have to figure out a way to word it just right so that no one would get in trouble, but at the same time make their purpose known.
"There's not much to tell though," Drew said about the group that was still in it's infancy. "It was jsut something Raynor and I kind of talked about. She got Brady in... and a couple more people. That's about it." There just wasn't much they could do, especially... especially when they didn't have the basics of a Defense class to help them.

Charlie groan louder inside herself than the groan she emitted within her, finding that she would be weary by the dodging and ducking to do this right. Yet he had been right. Until the government had some sense to open DADA back up, it would take lots of precautions to avoid any particularly rat Aurors to tell on them. "Damnit... okay. But you know at some point she's gotta help us. I don't care how much you read, Thornton, you still got nuthin' on her."
"That's a start, I guess," She said at the status of the group, but it was easy to tell she was disappointed at it. There had to be brave people out there. It wasn't an easy decision to go on the offensive against a devious group like the Deva, but it had to be worth it once there were more numbers involved.
