Drew looked between the other seventh years and the two younger students again. If Tianne and Jason were serious about keeping the study sessions going, Drew was confident they could do it. They were strong and organized and Drew knew they wouldn't bring anyone into the true nature of the group unless they were absolutely positive.
"So where do we go from here?" Drew asked, having his own ideas, but wanting to make sure the others had the opportunity to discuss stuff. If nothing else, he wanted them thinking about it. He wasn't always going to be around to get things moving.

Well this was just perfect, Anna was late go figure and this was something she didn't want to miss. Hopefully Drew wouldn't get too angry. There had been a few things going on to keep the sixth year's mind preoccupied, she still thought about them as she climbed out of the Gryffindor portrait hole and made her way down one flight of stairs to the sixth floor making sure she didn't forget a wand.
Peaking in through the door, Anna gave an embarassed smile and looked toward Drew. "Did I make it too late? Sorry about that, sort of screwed up the time."

The door opened and Drew immediately clammed up, hoping that no one else spoke up to answer him before they all saw who it was. All they needed now was for someone to walk in just as they were starting to get down to real business.
Fortunately, it was Anna and Drew relaxed into an easy smile. The only concern he had about the Gryffindor was the fact that she was dating Tristan... and Tristan had gotten a little strange. Drew was hoping to talk to her privately to see if there was anything serious going on with his friend.
"Naw, Anna. That's okay. Just close the door behind you," Drew told her, lowering his voice slightly. "We were just kind of talking about how to keep these sessions going next year."

Nodding, Anna came in and was careful to shut the door behind her quietly. She really didn't want to miss these study sessions since they were pretty helpful of course there were other things on her mind as well. Some of those thoughts pertained to Tristan and how he had been acting. Ever since that day in the owlery when he wanted to speak privately, it was just so scary how he was progressing everyday and was becoming distant. But now wasn't the time to think about that.
"Ok, um so have we thought of any ideas?" she asked in a casual tone.

Quickly as she could Tallulah made her way up to the sixth floor. As she tried to leave the common room she was stopped by a fellow house mate who wanted some help with potions homework. Thinking it best to just help them for a little while she did. They only needed a few questioned answered so she helped them as quick as possible. Once they finished Tallulah raced out of the common room and toward the stairs.
Maneuvering her way up she finally made it to the sixth floor. Her breathing was labored a little as she tried to find the room where the meeting was. She had to make sure no one was around when she peeked into a room. After a few attempts that had no success she sighed, downtrodden. Where was this room?
Her ears perked up when she heard a door close close by her. Turning her head to the right she saw a door closing. Smiling she fixed her skirt and hair as she walked over. Reaching out to the door handle she stopped, biting her lip. She wasn't sure if she should go inside. Deep down she knew she should but she didn't want to. Going inside would mean she was truly doing this. Taking a deep breath she turned the handle and walked in.
She gasped a little when she saw the group. Mostly people she didn't know, some she did. Giving a small smile she closed the door behind her. "Sorry I'm late. Got held up."

Henry slipped up the stairs to the sixth floor, he had been down in the kitchens again, and had realized he was late when he happened to check the pocket watch he carried with him. After peeking around the corner to check the coast was clear, he moved down the corner, and found the door he was looking for. He turned the doorknob and entered.
As he stepped inside quickly, closing the door behind him, he scanned the room. There were seven people present, not counting himself. Judging by their uniforms, five of them were Ravenclaws, one was a Slytherin, and, of course, there was Anna, who had told him about the group. The only person in the group that Henry recognized other than Anna was the seventh year Ravenclaw named Drew whose legs Henry had tripped over in the Charms corridor not long ago.
Henry nodded to Drew in greeting, and moved to take a seat at a spot near Anna.

Drew smiled crookedly at the two new-comers. He didn't know them very well, but had put a lot of trust in the others to bring the right kinds of people to join their group. Still, he wasn't about to show all of his cards to them until he got to know them better.
"We were about to practice defensive spells," Drew told them, glancing at the others to make sure this was okay. Their front was they were a study group, making up for missing defense lessons, so that's what they would do. "Uh... before Raynor stopped teaching, did you guys cover voiceless defenses?" It was a question for the younger students and Drew couldn't remember exactly what year covered it. He had the curriculum, all of his books, as well as his sister's notes, but he didn't want to look.

While Henry had learned voiceless spell casting in his years at Salem, he had not heard their Defense teachers ever even mention the skill since he had arrived at Hogwarts. Many of the teachers seemed to have been under the impression that it was a N.E.W.T. level skill, and so had skated over it. Henry, on the other hand, found it quite simple...depending, of course, on one's frame of mind. Henry had, personally, always found wandless spell casting to be much more challenging. It was very hard to channel one's magical energy through one's hands without a conductor, but he had once managed to emit sparks on purpose.
Henry nodded to Drew's comments; Protego, and Expelliarmus were excellent spells to start with when first beginning to cast magic soundlessly. When nobody seemed to want to respond, Henry pipped up.
"No, we haven't covered them in classes." said Henry "It might be good to start there."

Jason turned to Drew "Voiceless Defensive spells require you to say spells in your head and have the ability to have you wand hear them in your head" He said. His dad had taught him that previous year. After all his dad used to be a professional duelist. Jason tuned and looked at the group "It takes alot of practice and alot of concentration, i still need to work alot on them myself" Jason said. Jason could do a few spells in his head but he still had difficulty. "sounds like a good place to start too me" Jason said smiling
Jason tuned back to Drew, "were gona need some more space" told him "some of these spells are long range"

If the sixth years hadn't covered them, then that meant for sure the fifth years hadn't. Drew knew that the Charms and Transfiguration Professors would have covered voiceless spell casting, but with Raynor out of the classroom, there would have been nothing specific on Defensive spells.
"Yeah, kind of," Drew answered Jason, having always thought of it as the wand feeling the spell instead of hearing it. In the end it was pretty much the same idea. "But I know Raynor usually focuses on Defensive charges during fifth year, actually voiceless and wandless. My mom always called it Baby Magic because it's like when we were little and just did something without really knowing the spell. Most people don't bother learning to control it because by the time you're old enough to have that control, you've got a wand in your pocket. But if we do some practice, we can block some of the smaller hexes as well as any objects thrown at us."
Drew looked at the seventh years to verify that this was what they should work on and then looked at the other to see if that's really what they wanted to do.

Feeling a bit out of place Tallulah stood on the side, trying to blend in. Her brain was telling her this was a bad idea, this wasn't something she should be doing. Biting her lip she took a step back, trying to distance herself from the group. Every inch of her body told her this wasn't her place. These people wouldn't trust her. Her past was too shady for one to look away from. The Ministry coming to her house and ransacking it. All of the rumors. Things like that didn't fade into memory.
As she was about to leave Drew said something about voiceless defensive spells. This was something she did when she was in her 4th year at Beauxbaton. Second thoughts ran through her head. Maybe this was where she should be. She could help as best as possible, using her various contacts to further their fight. She turned back and took a step closer to the group. "We did them. At Beauxbaton, in our fourth year." Her voice was meek, somewhat scared. "You had to do them at Beauxbaton in your fourth year."

Jason turned to Tallulah when she spoke, he smiled, "Then are you going to stand by the door all day or are you gona fill us in on what you know" Jason said with a smile. He got up form his place and turned his full attention to her. "Come and sit down, don't be so nervous, were all friends in here" Jason said again motioning to the seat a few feet form him. Jason trusted everyone in the room, and he would go to war for anyone of them. He didn't no why Tallulah was so afraid of this group. No body was here to judge her, they were here because they wanted to make a difference in the world.

Henry listened intently, waiting for the girl to share her knowledge, he was indeed quite interested in a view of events from the perspective of those who attended other schools. As the silence in the room persisted, however, his eyes darted from person to person within the room. His brilliantly blue eyes moved from Anna, to Drew, to Jason, and on to the Slytherin girl still standing near the door. Henry decided that a bit of diplomacy was likely to do some good here, make more of a topic for the girl to speak on.
"It's all about concentration...voiceless casting." said Henry knowledgeably "Concentration, and mental discipline; Knowing the spell you're trying to cast inside out is, of course, a given."
Henry glanced around, he did, of course, know that he had said they hadn't learned about them not ten minutes before. Indeed, there were several expressions circulating the room that were akin to a raised eyebrow, so he continued.
"I said we didn't learn about them in class." he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose with the index and middle fingers of his right hand before saying "I learned about them ages ago."
It wasn't meant to be a display of ego, simply a statement of fact.

They were still talking about voiceless spells, which was really Drew's own fault for asking that when he meant defensive charges. Henry's schpiel concerned Drew though. Considering they were still talking about voiceless spell casting, it was disturbing that Henry insisted that they hadn't been taught them in class. Sixth years were supposed to focus almost entirely on voiceless spells.
But Drew was talking about something different. It wasn't really casting anything at all. "No, you guys are still talking about voiceless spells and that's not what I meant," he said, trying to correct his mistake. "You guys are supposed to cover voiceless casting in sixth year Charms and Transfiguration. I'm talking about defensive charges. So that if something comes at you, you can deflect it. It's not so much casting as it is controlling your magic so it becomes a reflex."

"Hmm?...Oh, true enough." said Henry, he had allowed himself to stray from the original topic due to the back and forth between Jason and the Slytherin girl. He looked around at Drew and said "You mean like channeling your 'Magical Aura', if you will, into a defensive application?...like a shield charm almost?"
This was something he had read about, but not practiced, he personally found that without wands and incantations, things got very unpredictable, and it wasn't exactly his cup of tea, but he wouldn't say no to it if he could learn to control the reflex.
