Delilah smiled up at Cole, when he didn't respond to her asking what she was supposed to say to his previous comment. Perhaps he could read her mind, and simply let things be. Things didn't always have to be said, in order for the other person to understand. Sometimes, just a simple look said it all, she assumed that the look she had given him, said it all: that she wanted to hear everything on his mind, and that she'd never look down on him no matter what she said. Delilah truly was a caring person, and Cole was steering straight towards her heart.
The small Slytherin girl fiddled with the bracelet given to her by Cole, and continued to smile, in a total bliss that was all her own. When Cole finally spoke, she blushed profusely and smiled up at him once more, "Done and done: thank you Cole..." She said, hoping that the smile she was giving him now, was all the beauty he could hope for. Delilah nodded every so often as Cole gave her a small piece of his heart, sharing with her his thoughts and feelings, and she shook her head in response to his hopes. "It doesn't freak me out, I'm glad you're sharing with me about what you feel inside that heart of yours." She said, searching his face, which showed nothing but the truth, "If there's an ease that exists between us, then I'm sure we'll become close friends, fast." She said, knowing that that's what he would want to hear, but more importantly, she hoped that he knew that she meant what she said.
Delilah looked up at the sky some more, unsure of what to say next, but she knew it was getting quite late. It always seemed that their encounters never lasted long enough. "So, am I the only one that should be home by now?" She asked. The question was directed at Cole, but she said it in such a way that it seemed as though it was just a random utterance. Delilah looked to the boy sitting next to her now, a twinkle in her eyes, hoping that this small comment would go somewhere, and that now would be a good time to get to know him better.

Cole smiled shyly. He couldn't help but be happy when Delilah said that they would become close quickly. He knew that he would be happy with just that if its what made Delilah happy. Cole knew that he wanted the best for her, and if he wasn't that he would be happy with it so long as she was too. Hearing Delilah say that she was glad he was sharing with her made his heart soar. Cole was glad he finally had a friend, someone who cared and wanted to listen to what was going on with him.I don't know how she does it...but it works for me...nobody has ever lifted me up like she has. Cole thought.
As Delilah asked "So, am I the only one that should be home by now?" Cole had to turn to her with a big smile and replied "You probably are...my parents don't really care, but the deal is I don't think I'm ready for you to go...I like having you here, and I just might need to find a reason for you to stay..." Cole hoped so desperately that Delilah would stay. He knew if she went he would be taking her back, and he also knew that he would be going for a walk afterwards if she left now. He then realized he could take her to one of his favorite places to go.The roof of the old school...I could take her there and show her where I go when I need to think...the view is perfect and I am sure she would like to see... Cole thought.
Cole opened his mouth again and said "Do you want to see where I go to think? I can take you if your interested...it's my own special place that nobody else knows about...so yeah, I was just wondering if you would like to come with me there for a bit, it's not very far, maybe two or three blocks." Cole looked back at Delilah just hoping she would say yes. Never for one moment had she lost his attention since she came here.
Cole knew that he wanted to be by this woman's side no matter what happened, and he also knew that he didn't plan on leaving her anywhere on her own. He was going to stand by her side through thick and thin. Being beside her right now even made Cole feel like a warrior. Never before had someone made him feel this strong and this capable of being himself. Cole knew that Delilah understood him. He turned to her again and said "You know, you really understand me, like you get me better than anyone else ever has." He continued to look at her.

"Well then start the convincing, my dear Cole." She said in a coy voice. Delilah grinned up at hime and wondered what this handsome boy would do now, trying to get her to stay and all. It was a surprise to her to find out that his parents didn't care what he did... judging how he spoke of them, and how his eyes lost their shine when he did, she knew that he wasn't to fond of them... Maybe they weren't to fond of him either, but she wasn't sure of that yet.
Delilah smiled up at Cole, "Sure, let's go!" She said, finally noticing that her hood was down, so she pulled it up hastily. Delilah wasn't sure what to expect, but she hoped it was somewhere outdoors. She never ceased to see the beauty of the outdoors. She couldn't feel more free out in the open, and she hated being traped indoors, like a rat in a cage. Maybe that's why she loved Quidditch so much... talk about room to roam.
Delilah couldn't help but blush at Cole's words. "Thanks... you're sweet Cole." She said, meaning what she said. She didn't know how she could know someone so well already, but she also knew that magic happened constantly, and she was happy to have someone absolutely incredible right at her fingertips. She waited for him to get up and go though, seeing as he just offered to take her to his hidey hole, and she was eager to see if their interests in location and scenery were the same or not.

Cole couldn't help but blush lightly when Delilah called him "...my dear Cole." He knew that she thought a lot of him already just by the way she talked to him. Maybe she likes me just as much as I like her...Cole thought. He looked at her as she seemed to think about going with him for a few moments.I hope she comes...its really going to suck if I go without her....I think she might come...I really hope so... Cole thought nervously.
After what felt like a eternity to Cole he heard Delilah reply "Sure, let's go!" He looked at her in time to see that she had pulled her hood back up. He couldn't help but smile at how cute she looked."You know, I personally think you look much more beautiful without your hood covering your face...it really is one of your best assets." Cole said in such a way that it was blunt but not mocking at all. Cole couldn't help but stare at Delilah's beautiful locks of hair. Even though he couldn't see them all that well he could still look and see how good they did look. He knew that if her hood came off he would be able tos ee the soft curve of her face again. It was one of his favorite parts of her.
As Delilah told Cole he was sweet he began to blush softly again. She gets me to light up without trying...I just really hope she doesn't notice how much she does...and if she does well I just hope she doesn't point it out He Slowly got up from the ground and walked so that he stood in front of Delilah. He slowly bent down offering her his two hands and asked "Do you need a hand up m'lady?"I hope she doesn't mind me calling her that... Cole thought as he waited to see if she would take him up on the offer he was making.

."You know, I personally think you look much more beautiful without your hood covering your face...it really is one of your best assets." Delilah shook her head and smacked Cole in the arm playfully, Ow... he's more muscular than I thought... Delillah thought to herself, but she tried not to let on that her own action had hurt her. She wasn't sure though, sometimes the eyes said what you didn't want them to. "That's your opinion Cole..." Delilah said, turning a deeper shade of red now, he honestly thought she looked better without the hood... Despite the fact that she thought she couldn't be any more hidious at the moment. Cole was really turning out to be a diamond in the rough, wasn't he?
Delilah giggled softly when Cole stood up, and offered to help her up as well. "What are you? A knight?" She asked, placing her hands in his stronger ones, allowing him to help her up. Her eyes said what her lips could not: you could be my knight any day. Delilah looked up at Cole with hopeful eyes, eager to see where he was taking her, but more importantly, she was eager to simply spend time with one of her closest friends... She was up for the adventure.

As Delilah smacked Cole's arm he knew that it was playful. She wasn't angry at him for letting his mouth speak before he thought it out. Cole really didn't feel like he had to worry to terrible much about his way of talking around her anymore. She seemed to be pretty accepting and open to anything and everything Cole had to say. He heard her say "That’s your opinion Cole..." and he knew instantly that he had caught her off guard with his comment. He however did not mind it at all; that she had hit him, and he definitely did not mind her remarks. He knew that she believed him when he told her that he thought she was beautiful. If only she knew that half of what I thought and how I felt...Cole thought. Something told him that she had a much better idea than he thought she did but Cole simply shrugged it off and stopped worrying.
As Cole stood over Delilah for those few seconds and asked if she needed help up he had to remind himself not to stare at her. He knew that she noticed but didn't say anything but he did not want to seem rude or inconsiderate. He was just so glad that she never pointed it out when he was lost in thought staring at her face. It just stood out to him, it appeared so smooth and beautiful, the light always seemed to hit it just right and give it this almost surreal glow to it. Cole had a hard time as seeing her as anything other than a princess or a angel. When Delilah asked Cole if he was a knight he couldn't help but grin. He simply looked into her eyes intensely and replied "Only if you allow me to be...but just so you know you make me feel every bit like one." That’s when he saw what her eyes were saying to him. He knew in that moment that she was interested in the same thing he was. His heart skipped a beat and he stopped breathing for a moment in complete and utter amazement.Holy crap...she likes me too...is this real?...this is to good to be a dream...I couldn't even think something this amazing up...Cole thought to himself as he gazed into Delilah's beautiful green eyes. How they shone in the light...it was so beautiful. The soft glow of the moon in her pupils made her eyes shine in the darkness. Her lips glistened in the light. Her face was perfect. Cole suddenly remembered to breathe and took a deep breath.
He carefully moved the few stray locks of hair that had fallen into his face out of his eyes. He had never felt this way for anybody, and he had never before been so worried about hurting someone either. Cole slowly took Delilah's hands in his and gently helped her up from the ground on which they had been sitting on only moments before. As they stood up together he leaned in close to Delilah and whispered a quiet "Thank you...and just know that your eyes say it all...everything you feel is in them....I just really want to say thanks to you for trying to get to know me and actually trusting me." Cole hoped she didn't catch on that he knew everything going on in her heart but he knew there was a chance that she would. After all a relationship is about taking a chance isn't it...Cole thought. This girl was very special to him and he knew he was always going to try and protect her.
Cole said "Are you ready to head out?...It's only a few blocks over." He hoped so much that Delilah would enjoy this trip out; he knew that he was looking very forward to letting her in a little more yet. There was something about her that just made him comfortable and he didn't think he could ever say it enough. Whether it is to her or just to him he knew that he would never tire of knowing how special she was to him. He was so eager to go yet at the same time he wanted to stay here with her in this moment forever. He was truly happy for one of the very few times in his life and he never wanted it to end.
If it wasn't too early I would ask her for more than just a friendship but I know that we have to get to know each other better yet...I sometimes just wish the future was now...Cole thought. He already had a pretty good idea how he felt about this girl and it was a lot more powerful than lust or infatuation or obsession. He knew he had a ways to go but he was ready to slay any dragon that this princess asked him to. He knew that when it came to her he would do absolutely anything he could.

"Only if you allow me to be..." Delilah grinned up at him, "We'll see about that one Cole..." She said, watching him as he watched her. Why was he looking so intently at her? Were her eyes saying something she didn't want them to? They probably were, it was hard to hide green eyes behind dark locks. "Don't whisk me away to quickly now..." Delilah muttered as he stared at her... She honestly thought he'd be crazy enough to do just that, it wouldn't be hard or anything, being how light she was...
As Cole helped her up, Delilah stood frozen as he leaned in close to her... what was he thinking exactly? And what was he doing? But when Cole spoke softly into Delilah's ear, as if there were others around, Delilah felt both relieved, and upset. He could read her like a book, and her stupid eyes didn't help that fact. She didn't really know what else to say, and still in a state of shock from both his suddeness, and his striking features, she muttered a "You're welcome."
Delilah nodded, "Ready when you are..." She said, faintly remembering her time in Seattle with Jason... hadn't she said this just before she ended up running into a chair? Delilah sighed, sometimes she was such a clutz. She wondered if where they were headed, would be a good place. And if it was, were they getting there too fast? Delilah forced a smile up at him, hating that she was going through a mood swing... "I can't wait to see where you bring me." She tried, hoping that they would start heading there soon.

Cole smiled as he heard Delilah saying something about not whisking her away to quickly. He couldn't help but be excited to show this girl more of what his life was like. She actually wants to know more...and well, I guess she actually likes me... Cole thought. He heard her mumbling something about him whisking her away quickly. He began to blush a little bit knowing that in his mind thats the thing he would most love to do in this moment. She can read me just like a book...Cole's thoughts flashed through his mind. He began to turn a deep shade of red. Something about how she could read him so well just had him wanting to explore this relationship more deeply. He knew that she was the only person who had ever been able to read him so quickly and do it so well at the same time. It blew Cole's mind to realize that she could be so close to him but yet so far away at the same time. He knew if they got to know each other better it would definetly be a strong friendship.
Cole noticed that he had embarassed Delilah slightly but he knew that if he had caused the damage he could do his best to repair it. He turned to her and looked deeply into the glowing green pool of her eye and said with a tone that was completely apologetic "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to offend or embarass you...I just tend to observe things...and you know...I was really excited to realize it...if you haven't exactly caught on I have certain feelings too..." Cole trailed off slowly. Great...now she is going to hate me...Cole thought. There was just no way in his mind for him to get out of this one.
He heard her say she was ready. A smile came back onto his face and all of the fear and sadness faded away. He knew that Delilah was something completely special and unique now. He knew that by now if she had been any other girl she would have been scared away by him a long time ago. No matter how hard he tried though it always seemed like he was to unorthodox when he was around her. Cole also realized that when he was with her he felt free to be himself. It was so very good not to worry for this little while though.
Cole slowly pointed out the park's enterance and said "We have to go out that way." He was so happy that she still trusted him to lead her to his special place. The one place where he could get away from everything else. It was freedom for him, and now he got to share that freedom with someone who genuinely understood him. Cole could not have been happier that night.

Delilah was surprised that he could be so honest with her right away. Cole had just openly admitted that he had feelings for her, and here she was going to assume that these feelings were beyond friendship. But he had also said too, which meant that he already knew that she returned those feelings. Her reaction to his words were a blank stare. What was she supposed to make of that? Was she to simply trust someone she just met, or leave her thoughts a mystery to him.
Still unsure of what lied beneath, Delilah didn't speak a word, but rather, left him hanging. She looked towards where he was pointing and had to laugh, "Cole, that's the only way out... but still, thank you for pointing out the obvious." She said, and she began walking towards it. She walked a fairly brisk pace, both from the cold, but also to get away from him a bit. Perhaps things were moving a bit fast for her, and the reality was setting in. She liked Cole a lot, and he could see that. The natural step was to take a step forward, but she, was taking a step back, they needed to be friends first, and she didn't want to let her passion, or feelings, or whatever, get in the way of what she knew was best for her.

It dawned on Cole that he had screwed up again. When Delilah made that crack at his pointing out of the obvious it seemed to him to be one of those things that had been meant to be offensive. He knew that he had to try and make it right tonight or else he may have lost the best friend he had ever had. He couldn't seem to think fast enough and in his perspective all of his movements were slow and sluggish. He began to get so angry with himself and his body. Finally something clicked after what felt like hours to him. In reality Delilah had only gotten about twenty steps away.YOUR SUCH A FREAKING IDIOT! Cole's mind screamed at him.
Finally Cole ran after Delilah until he had caught up. He made sure he ended up in front of her. He stopped so that she would have to stop in front of him and face him while he spoke. "Look Delilah, I screwed up big time...I shouldn't have said anything I did, and I really made it awkward...I'm sorry that I made it happen like that...what I am trying to say...I want to keep my best friend...in other words I want to be your friend above all...I'm not saying I don't like you like that, but I am trying to say that a friendship is more important than anything more than that, I want to have time to get to know you before anything would happen or anything like that." Cole said in a voice that was completely truthful. He looked up into her eyes and continued "I'd like to give this friendship a chance before I screw it all up if thats okay with you." He had never felt this scared in all of his life.
He looked into Delilah's eyes for a few more seconds and then just quickly looked to the ground. He began to prepare himself for the absolute worst. Cole felt so sad and scared in this moment and he knew for a fact that he had screwed this one up. He just hoped that the woman that he was so attracted to could find it in her heart to forgive him for messing it up. Never in all of his life had the thought of losing somebody scared Cole as much as it did on this bitterly cold night. There was nothing about this moment that made Cole want to smile but he could only hope that the rest of the night would play out in such a way that they both were smiling. Judging by how he felt though he had a feeling this time he wasn't going to be so lucky. His instincts had failed him before though.

Delilah stopped suddenly, both surprised, and a bit perterbed that Cole would do something like this, when he knew she was a clutz, and thus, as she attempted to stop herself, the tip of her foot bumped into his. She raised her hands so they were up to her shoulders, and caught herself by hanging on to Cole. She looked up at him with frustration, and shivered slightly from the sudden heat in her face and body. "I'd like that Cole, and just so you're aware, I want to be friends first, and we'll see about the rest later..." She said this out of truth, and also to be nice. But she couldn't deny how upset she was that he'd step in front of her like that.
D noticed how deeply he was looking at her. Did he have some crazy mind reading power or something? Delilah looked away from him, totally embarassed, and was secretly hoping that he would treat her as a friend first. She finally let go of Cole, remembering that her balance had long since been regained. Delilah looked back up at Cole and tried to smile, "So, I thought we were leaving?" She tried, hoping not to make things awkward.

Cole wasn't sure what to make of Delilah's response to him. He knew that if she wasn't okay she wouldn't want to stick around, but she still seemed a little bit angry at him. He heard her voice gently speaking to him. He was afraid he was getting blown off when she said that she wanted to be friends first, but then he heard the rest about seeing about the rest later and he couldn't help but have his spirits lifted. Cole felt partially sad but at the same time he was amazingly happy. He kept his head lowered for the next few seconds just thinking about all that had happened on this evening. He loved reflecting on the times he spent with this girl and he knew that she probably cherished them as much as he did judging by her reply that she had just made. Cole looked up slowly again and tossed his head back and forth slowly to get his long hair out of his face. He looked back into Delilah's eyes and said simply "Delilah...you are the best friend I have ever had...and above all I want you as my friend, I would rather become a close friend than just a boyfriend...I want to be someone who knows you and understands where you are coming from before I would even dare to take a step up...I want you to know that I do consider you my best friend though." Well that wasn't so hard... Cole thought. He knew that every word he had ever spoken to this woman was truth and he wanted to keep it like that.
Cole sunk his head down again after he looked into her eyes for those few extra seconds. Before he knew it he felt the two hands that had been on his shoulders slowly coming off of them. He suddenly felt the cold of the night where those two hands had been. Everything seemed to touch him more than it usually would tonight. On top of it being a emotional roller coaster it Cole was also feeling tired. He didn't want to sacrifice any time that he could have with Delilah though so he decided that he would stay out as long as she did. He heard her gentle voice say "So, I thought we were leaving?" Cole smiled at this and finally brought his head up. "Yeah its that way." He said with a little bit of a shake in his voice as he pointed down the street."Thanks for coming with me Delilah...I know I've made this night a little bit awkward and I just want to say thanks for sticking it through and actually taking time to get to know me for who I am...nobody else has ever been here with me...and I just want to say thank you for it." Cole said. It was true nobody else had ever taken enough time to get to know him in a way where he would open up and become vunerable.

What Cole said next caused Delilah's knees to grow weak. They were the words of a poet, and she loved hearing that she meant so much to him. He so obviously respected her, and although she was angry before, she wasn't anymore. She smiled, thinking how emotions can be so fleeting, yet words, are often set in stone in someone's heart. "You mean a lot to me aswell Cole Bartlet, and your friendship is irreplacable." She said, knowing that what she said wouldn't even begin to compare to the heart filled reply he gave her, yet, she hoped that he'd sill be able to see the deep affection she had for him.
Delilah usually wasn't quick to forgive, but for Cole, anything. Her mood swung, and she was so happy just to be spending time with him again, and she hoped he wasn't set off by her words, actions, and just general vibe, that came from her earlier. "Hey Cole, I'm sorry for my mood swings... And just to warn you, they happen often." She said, with a crooked smirk. She stuck her hands in the pocket on the tummy of her hoodie, and smiled up at him.
The small girl became very playful, and started to walk backwards and away from Cole. "Yeah yeah, enough sweet talk! Let's go!" She said, turning around now, turning her fast walk, into a bit of a run. She squealed and laughed outloud as she ran, hoping, that this wasn't too much for Cole to take in all at once, it was just so hard for D not to be happy, knowing that her mind's number thought, was there with her, and was about to reveal to her, his secret place. It would become their secret, and because of this, Delilah simply had to squeal.

Cole couldn't stop smiling at Delilah's reply to his little speech about being her friend. He knew that she valued him. He could hear in her voice exactly how much she cared for him and he was shocked. In her voice he could hear nothing but care, and kindness, patience, and adoration. Cole never would have expected her to care as much as he sensed. Nobody ever had, and she didn't even know who him extremely well yet. I can barely believe it but I know its true...I just hope that this isn't a dream that will turn into a nightmare like it has so many times beforeCole thought. He knew in his heart that it was true though; his mind always made him doubt what he knew was true in his heart. Cole in that moment began to listen to his heart. He knew in that moment that everything that was happening was true.
He was smiling ear to ear as he saw Delilah looking more like the happy girl he had come to know her as. He couldn't help but notice how she was glowing so angelically in the soft moonlight. She was nothing short of beautiful to Cole. He honestly could not think of a single person who he thought was perfect aside from her. Her face and complexion were so smooth and perfectly seamless; Cole had never thought anyone more beautiful than her in this moment. She began to open her mouth to speak and Cole tuned in knowing that he wanted to hear every word she had to say."Hey Cole, I'm sorry for my mood swings... And just to warn you, they happen often." He heard Delilah say. He looked deeply into her beautiful green eyes and spoke. "Hey...don't even worry...I played a part too, it probably would have been a lot easier if I hadn't opened my mouth...just know that if mood swings are a part of you, they are a part I will be more than willing to be there through, I want to be here...everyone has their moments and yeah I just want you to know I forgive you...I'm also sorry that I made it so hard tonight...thanks for sticking around longer than anyone else in my life has. Nobody has ever taken the time to actually get to know me so I want you to know that means the world to me." Cole once again had talked far more than he intended but this time he wasn't kicking himself for it. He just continued to look at Delilah and her gorgeous smile. Just being around her took his breath away.
Suddenly Cole saw Delilah backing away from him. He heard her call Yeah yeah, enough sweet talk! Let's go!" As she turned and began to pick up speed. Cole laughed joyfully and knew that she wanted him to come after her. He waited until she began to run before he began to come after her. Cole began to run after her quickly. She's already making me work for her...Cole thought. He began to chuckle and laugh at his thought and out of the sheer joy of chasing after Delilah. He began to catch up to her. Cole got a little excited at this and pushed his body all the harder. Before he knew it he was running faster than he knew he could."She really does bring the best out of me..."Cole muttered to himself with a chuckle. He found himself at her side with a huge smile on his face and laughter on his lips as he looked over to see the sheer joy on her face.
Cole hadn't been this happy in such a long time it seemed. Something people would see as simple as running brought him sheer joy when he was with Delilah. She had such a good effect on him, he was afraid of what it would be like if he ever had to part ways with her. She had found a special place in his heart already. Cole was sure she knew that already but if she didn't she would find out when the time was right. He might share that with her when he explained the bracelet to her. He had thought about that one a long time before buying it. He knew what he had wanted but hadn't found it until today. He realized exactly how fortunate he had been to find it and buy it on this very day.She means more to me than my words can explainCole thought as he continued look at her.

Delilah was giggling so hard, that she had to stop. She looked up at the sky, and just let her hood fall away, this was a night to freely be herself, and as she looked behind her, she was happy that Cole was, not only enjoying himself, but also enjoying being with her. Delilah looked back up at the stars, and just let herself exist. "So," she said to no one inparticular, but she was hoping Cole would hear it, "you wanna lead the way? I seem to be going no where." She said with a playful grin a twinkle in her eye.
