Lily drew pictures in the dirt. "I'd always care about you, even if Alhana forbid me." Lily said. "And I think if you ever didn't care about me it would hurt very much." She looked down at the ground and stared at her fingers. "It musn't be easy being my friend."

"Alhana wouldn't forbid it..." Drew mumbled, suddenly sullen at the mention of his girlfriend's name. "Nobody can stop people from caring about someone else..." He pulled nervously at the grass nearby.

"I was afraid for a bit that she would," Lily said. "She's still really mad at me. I just know it. Even if she's not beating me up, she'll probably never forgive me. It's awful. I hate the fact she's mad at me, but I deserve it."

"I won't let her beat you up," Drew answered... though the whole thing was probably moot at this point anyway. He left the rest of his sandwich untouched and appeared to be studying the gound in front of him intently.

Lily looked up studying Drew. What was up with Alhana? Now she knew what was wrong but she wasn't certain. It was so obvious. Everytime she had even so much as mentioned anything related to Alhana he went all spazzitic ((If that's not a word it is now lol)). Had they broken up? That would be awful. And here she was letting herself outshine it. She wanted so badly just to help him, but she couldn't ask him what was wrong. Not again. She looked back down at the ground again.

Drew slowly traced patterns in the dirt, lost in his own thoughts. Of course, Lily had nothing to worry about. Alhana hadn't returned to school and neither she nor he had figured out how to get her back to Hogwarts.

Lily finished up her sandwhich and opened the basket. If Drew wasn't going to tell her she wasn't going to push it. She was done pushing towards something that was never going to happen anyways. "Do you want to see what I made for desert?" She asked quietly.

"Okay," Drew answered softly, looking up at her with a small smile. It was supposed to be her celebration and he didn't want to ruin it with his own problems.

She pulled out probably the most odd and yet delicious looking brownies one could have seen. They had m & ms in the inside and light golden brown marshmallows on the top. "Surprise," she said quietly, cutting one out for him and handing it to him. "I hope you like it." She said taking it for herself.

"It looks really good," he told her, taking the brownie and just admiring it for a moment. He smiled as the chocolate smell drifted up to his nose and while he was tempted to just save it, he took a bite and smiled again at her.

"Thanks," Lily said. "Something my mum taught me." She looked down at the ground for a bit. This was hard for her to say but she had to. "Drew," Lily said quietly. "Whatever's going on between you and Alhana it'll be alright." She shrugged. "I mean ultimately everything's alright in the end isn't it?"

Drew looked up at her again and nodded slowly, biting his lip as he thought over what she had said (though he wasn't sure how she had figured it all out... he had hidden it OH so well). He wasn't sure everythign was going to end up okay, but he knew he needed to keep telling himself that it was.

"Right," Lily said quietly looking down at the ground. "And I'm a complete idiot for saying that. You told me that nothing was wrong but no I just can't listen can I?" She stared at the brownie in her hand, suddenly not to hungry.

He was confused for a moment before he realized she really DIDN'T know what was happening... he HAD hidden it after all.
But now, of course, he couldn't tell her that anything was wrong, even if he wanted to. He had enough experience with Lily to know she didn't much care for it when he with held the truth from her.

"I just," Lily said. "I dunno. This is going to sound stupid but I thought maybe for once you could trust me." She looked down at the ground, drawing pictures in the dirt again. Somehow, she always managed to bring the mood down, even when it was supposed to be happy. Was that her own curse?
