At the age of seven Drew had noticed how very much like a skateboarding ramp the roof of the Thornton house had looked. Good height and nice slope, young Drew had climbed up, checked his safety gear, and took the ride of his life.
The trip ended with a ride to the Hospital. As soon as his bones had been mended, his parents grounded him for a month. As an added bonus, they had made him wear a cast for six weeks. He hadn't done much skateboarding off of rooftops since then.
It had been a challange from Lily... or at least it had been very close to a challange. In the heat of an argument, he realized he needed to do this to prove himself right, and so here he was, helmet on head, pads on guards on his joints, and skateboard in hand.
He wasn't as mad as he had been in the hallway upstairs, but he was even more determined. With a adeep sigh, he looked at the old caretaker's hut and planned his jump.

"You don't have to do this Drew," Lily pleaded. "Please, it's not to late to stop. I don't want a dead best friend. You promised me you wouldn't die anytime soon!" She was truely terrified that he would die.

"I'm not going to die," he answered confidently. He looked at the pitch of the thatched roof and wondered how sturdy it was. He knew it kept the rain out, but would it really hold him? He'd have to figrue that out once he got up there.
He turned his attention to the ground surrounding the hut. A few rocks scattered the area, but he knew the pumpkin patch in back would be a harder landing to make. He'd have to find a good angle when he came in.

"How do you know?" Lily said. "I don't trust that helmet thing. It could easily crack for all I know. It isn't made of stone!"

"I'm not going to die," he repeated, looking around the hut a bit more. He had already checked to make sure Davenport wasn't around. Last he saw her, she was in the Arithmancy classroom grading papers. With any luck at all, they had a good hour at least.

"Alright," Lily said, but took to pacing nevertheless. She was really worried and scared for Drew. This was all her fault. Everything was her fault. Oh, she just knew something bad was going to happen, she just knew it.

Having been out for a small stroll, Snip flying beside her, Arianna came within hearing distance to hear what the two had just said.
"Die? Die from what?" she questioned, approaching Drew and Lily. Her eyes fell on the skateboard then traveled up to see all the gear the boy was wearing. "What's with the board? There's nowhere to skate around here."

"He's going to skate off the roof!" Lily said exsparatedly throwing up her hands and stopping for a moment in her pacing before continuing. "It'll be all my fault too. I'll be the one who will have killed the legendary Drew Thornton!"

"Legendary..." Drew snorted. He was hardly legendary. Now the Weasley twins... THOSE guys were legendary.
"I just want to see if I can is all," Drew answered casually. He took a good look at a strip of grass he thought might work for a landing.

"No," Lily said. "That's not true. You never would have done this is I hadn't said anything in the first place! It's all my fault and you're going to die." Alright so Lily worried a bit much.

Arianna glanced between the two. She slightly amused, but at the same time, concerned that Drew would want to skate off the roof of the hut. She thought it was something to work up to, not jump right in and do.
"It's awfully high," she commented, tipping her head back to peer at the roof. "I don't know, Drew....You can't find something shorter to skate off."

"What would be the point in that?" Drew asked, glancing only briefly at Lily as he went around to the back side of the hut to see if the pumpkins were as big of a problem as he thought they would be.

"Well...What happened the last time you tried something like this?" she asked, already knowing the answer. Of course she hadn't been there at the time, but she had certainly heard about it. "We're just worried about a repeat."

"This is all my fault," Lily said still pacing. "All, all my fault. Me and my stupid fear and now he's going to die." Did I not mention she worried a lot?

"All the more reason for me to do it again," Drew answered from the back of the hut. The pumpkins were decent sized obsticles. His best bet was definitely the front. He came back around and grinned at the girls. "It's about time I got back up on that horse... right Lily?"
