"Yeah, by the way... thanks for the vote of confidence," Drew called down to her. He was getting really tired of the talk that he was going to die. Of course he wasn't going to die...

"Oh, right," Arianna jumped down from the pile and hurried over to Drew's board. When she got it back to the wood, she again hesitated before making her way up, the board in her arms making the climb more difficult the second time.
"Here," The woodpile wiggled beneath her feet, but held as she pushed herself onto her toes, board held over her head.

Drew grabbed the board, pulling it up and laying it down next to him. He saw Ari wiggling on the wood pile and grabbed her wrist firmly. If the wood pile gave way under her, she wouldn't fall.

"Guess I'll need help getting up," Arianna grinned up at Drew. She was sure she could jump high enough to grab the edge and pull herself up, but with the wood wiggling beneath her feet, her courage wavered.

"Hey, Ari?" Drew said, lowering his voice so only she could hear. He still gripped her wrist, but didn't pull her up. "Do me a favor and stay on the ground, okay? If... if anything happens, I don't think Lily could handle it."

Arianna frowned. She had almost ALMOST gotten to where she thought the fun would out-weigh the potential for anything bad to happen.
"Well, that makes me feel better," she mumbled, letting herself ease down from her toes. She was now thinking of spells they could use to make the ground softer, but none came to mind and she doubted Drew would wait long enough for them to gather and transfigure rocks into pillows.

"Thanks," he whispered to her as he gently let her down. He sat on the roof and looked at the jump. It wasn't all that high... he had definitely done higher, but Lily's worried mumblings were starting to get to him. It wasn't a matter of not being ABLE to do it, he wasn't too sure he WANTED to do it anymore.

Arianna carefully clambered back down the woodpile and hurried to Lily's side. With Drew's last words, she was now worried something WOULD happen. Not death, he'd fallen from higher up, but it could be serious.
"You okay up there?" she called out to Drew. He hadn't moved yet. Perhaps he was getting ready?

"I'm good," Drew called back down. He carefully felt his way to the top of the hut and perched there for a while, scoping the surroundings. The straw on the roof was thick and as an added bonus, Drew had felt the sturdiness of wood underneath as he had crawled up the slope. He figured the chances of him dropping through and into the classroom were pretty slim, especially if he tried to stick to a beam.

"He's really going to do this isn't he?" Lily asked Ari with a worried look on her face. "I was hoping for once it was all talk but he's not joking about this. Oh goodness, I'm worried."

"I don't know," Arianna replied, shaking her head. She had been watching the boy carefully for any sign that he might decided not to, but the only indication she had was the moment of hesitation. That could've been a moment to steel up his nerves, though.

Drew was caught in a dilema. NOw that he was up at the top of the roof, he could see his path- a short slope down to a clear landing.
And there in was the problem. The slope was too short. There was not enough ramp to get enough momentum to keep his board with him. It was no wonder that he had plummeted straight down last time. He might as well roll the board down and then just jump off the roof. The landing would probably be easier to make.
He debated doing a sticking charm, but that might keep him from falling off the board when he needed to. He sat at the pinnicle, making plans, rejecting scenarios, and coming to a conclusion.

"What's he waiting for?" Lily whispered to Ari, getting more nervous by the second. "Do you think he's backing down? I hope so, I really hope so. I mean normally I wouldn't want him to back down but this is one thing I don't want him to do."

"Oh, he'll come down....eventually," Arianna answered in reply. Of course, she didn't know which way he would choose to come down. Nor if he would make it in one piece.

Having made up his mind, Drew carefully got to his feet, quickly ducking again when his head hit the branches of the trees over head... a complication he had forgotten about. He pushed them out of the way and set his board down, holding it steady with one foot while he double checked his safety gear. He'd do a big push off and hope for the best.
"Stand back!" he called down to the girls. The last thing he wanted was to land on them and hurt them as well.
