She pulled back ever so slightly and for a moment, Drew was worried he had upset her. The small smile on her face told him otherwise, but it didn't really answer the question as to whether or not she had heard what he had asked. He still wasn't sure he wanted her to have heard it.
But most of him did. And most of him was pretty sure that when she smiled at him like that, she had heard. A smile like that and he wanted to say it again, this time with no ambiguous question hiding what he really meant. "I love you..." he said, just as softly, but this time, looking at her face, a small smile crossing his.

Those words hadn't been made up in her mind. Drew did say them, and she wasn't imagining things that hadn't happened. Though, she had heard before that when one said "elephant shoe" it made the same movements of the mouth as did "I love you" but what reason would he have to say elephant shoe only for her to replace those words with something much more meaningful? There really was only one solution in her mind, and that was to believe he really did say what she thought he said, twice...in a row.
No boy outside of her family had ever said those words to her, not like that. There were her friends that said the "we love you" bit, but never with the same kind of meaning she was getting from Drew saying it. In fact, he hadn't even ever said the bit to her before.
Feeling the heat rise to her cheeks, her smile widen on her lips, and the nerves in her stomach making her feel really ill (but the good kind), she was speechless.
This was when she was supposed to say it back, he'd said it all ready, and she was supposed to respond. Then things would go on their way. They'd ride off on a white horse, he'd take her to his kingdom, everyone would smile and laugh and cry, and everything would be happily-ever-after. But she wasn't ready for things to be over; it was a good thing this wasn't a movie.
Biting on her lip lightly, she gave a very nervous, light, gentle laugh. The kind when you're so flabbergasted you just don't know what to do.
Bringing her gaze back up to his, she really didn't think she'd be able to smile any bigger than she was. It'd be impossible to ever smile that big again, she was sure of it.
Slowly, Felicity brought a hand up to touch Drew's cheek, just to be able to make sure she wasn't dreaming that this was happening. And it wasn't a dream, no matter how it felt.
"Andrew Thornton," she started, still keeping her hand softly touching his cheek. "I love you, too..."

He wasn't sure what to make of her nervous giggle and the lip biting. He didn't expect her to say it back to him, that hadn't been why he told her. But maybe he had made her uncomfortable. He wasn't sorry for saying he loved her, but at the same time, he wondered if he should have waited.
And then she said those words back, and a warmth spread over him that he knew didn't come from the fire. She loved him. She loved him! He hadn't really believed it when she said it way back in March (it was kind of hard to when she was in the middle of breaking up with him), but this time, he did. He loved her and she loved him.
Her hand was on his face and he closed his eyes for a moment, just enjoying her soft touch, before leaning in and kissing her. Soft, slow, almost as good as that very first one and to Drew, it was just as special. She loved him. Nothing else mattered.

It was odd. They hadn't known each other for a even a year yet, and every feeling her sisters had told her she'd ever feel about such a thing Felicity felt around Drew, for Drew, with Drew. While her dad had once forbade her from loving a boy before, which had come from her telling him about the boy that had once tried to kiss her who she'd punched, she'd stuck true to that for an extremely long time. And while her dad didn't seem to like Drew very much, she hoped he would and soon. Of course, he hadn't liked any of the boys her sisters brought home, really didn't like Harold once, but he was know extremely good friends with her brother-in-law. Though he seemed to crack down harder on Drew than he had any of them, too. Felicity just hoped that he'd believe her that Drew was a nice boy, and would at least do more toleration than he had during the winter break.
Smiling up at Drew still, she was happy; very, very happy. Just being in his arms, feeling like she hadn't before with him from the activity of the butterflies, and having heard from his mouth that he loved her. She kind of thought he did, like she loved him, but it was nothing to knowing that he did, hearing him say it.
And when he leaned in to kiss her, she was more than glad to comply. These were her favourite kisses, she'd decided it long before, and while she kind of liked when he'd kissed her after he'd pinned her in the snow, these kinds of kisses were by far the most enthralling. After a moment, Felicity slowly pulled away, gently rubbing her nose against his before going back in for another one.

He thought it was over when she pulled back and while it would have been nice to prolong it, the nuzzling was nice too. But when she renewed the kiss, he met her eagerly, placing his hand on her jaw and gently pulling her closer to him. Her kisses always thrilled him, but at that moment, it was like nothing else he had ever felt.
He was the one to pull back this time, afraid he would try something they weren't ready for. he didn't want to ruit the monet by doing something stupid. His hands still on her face, he kept his forehead against hers and smiled gently. "You love me?" There was so much power in saying that he loved her, but it was an even bigger high to be able to voice she loved him back.

The intimacy of his kisses was really nice; the way he held her, placed his hands, kissed her with just the right feel to it, and set every nerve in her body off. Another thing that was so nice about it was it was almost like every thing just stopped around them, like time stood still, and it was just for them that the special gift was granted. And even though he pulled away, it still felt like time was waiting on them.
The feel of his warm hands cupping her face made her smile all alone, but when he asked her if she loved him, it quickly grew into a grin, accompanied by a light blush. Swallowing nervously, Felicity nodded in answer, once more biting on her lip carefully.
"Yes," she answered. "I love you, Drew. I don't think it, I don't feel off, I just know." Bringing her hands up to cover his, she closed her eyes momentarily. "You love me, though?"
If he could ask, so could she.

"Mm-hmm," Drew hummed back in the affirmative, nodding slowly against her forehead. He could feel the warmth of her blush under his hands, the softness of her hands over, and the sensation made him smile. There was no thought about it-- he had thought about it enough. And it wasn't a mere feeling-- feelings were nice, but insubstantial and fleeting. This was knowledge. He knew he loved her.
And now he knew she loved him. He kissed her again, light and quick, just to seal the affirmation. "So I love you and you love me. Now what?" he asked, with a crooked smile. In the movies it usually meant a good snog, but they still had dinner to eat and snogging in cheesy potatoes could get messy.

It was a smile that the Gryffindor was unable to rid herself of. It was perfect. No, the evening hadn't started great, but smoothed out pretty easily, and now, well, now... Lifting her gaze slowly to look a bit awkwardly into his eyes, she could only smile more. He loved her. When she was younger she hadn't understood why her sisters would want some disgusting boy to love them, especially when boys were only good for playing in the mud with, at least back then they were. Now, well for one boy, she wanted him to love her, and he did.
He loved her and she loved him.
Butterflies erupted once more, flying everywhere in her body, not able to contain themselves in her stomach still. It was a concept, a very, very good one. He loved her, and she could tell him she loved him too. And it meant he really loved her, he was saying it aloud, he was telling her. And while what she wanted to do was run and tell everyone she could that he loved her, at the same time, she wanted to keep it to herself, just to enjoy that specialness longer because he truly loved her.
"Now?" she asked with a smile. It wasn't the end, and any of the other options weren't good ones as they weren't probable, nor likely ones. "Now we know, right? And now, our dinner is probably cold."
Wrinkling her nose at him, she smiled again. "Now, I want to do whatever you do."

"Now we know," Drew echoed, his wide grin matching her bright smile. It seemed funny in its simpleness, but at the same time so serious in its implications. It was the next step in their relationship and a step closer to territory Drew was unfamiliar with. The good news was he knew it would be okay getting there with Felicity.
"Whatever I do?" he asked, his grin turning a bit devilish. He could warm up the cold dinner, but that wasn't exactly what he had in mind. "I have a detention next Thursday for flicking flobberworm pus at Charlie..."

Yes, she wanted to do whatever he did. Whatever he wanted to do. While her stomach would be likely to rumble later, she wasn't sure she could properly eat with the new admittance on both of their parts. The butterflies that had made her feel ill when around him back in fall were able to be subsided a little in order to eat now, but right at that moment, she didn't want them to subside. Even if he wanted to eat, she'd force a bit down, not that his cooking really needed forcing.
The new smile on Drew's face made Felicity's turn a carefully nervous. She didn't quite understand.
"You've a detention?" she asked, a little astonished, she hadn't known of that before. But on the other hand, she didn't know how that fit in.

"Next Thursday..." Drew repeated, balking a little bit at her question. He had never lied to her about his discipline record, but he did consider it to be one of those "don't ask, don't tell" kinds of things. He figured she knew about his occasional indiscresions (who at the school didn't?), but he rarely felt the need to bring up the topic. He liked how she thought he was a good guy and not some goof-off.
"It's just a one-nighter," he said, hoping she wasn't too disappointed in him. He had actually gotten in a lot less trouble since September... since he started hanging out with her so much. That was a good thing, right?

"Next Thursday..." Felicity repeated him exactly. Was he trying to tell her something? Was she completely missing the point of the whole thing? Was she over-thinking it too much? The answer to the last question was yes. As far as she knew there was nothing planned for next Thursday, his Pool Party wasn't until the following month, and their Cook-Off was on a Saturday. So why didn't she understand?
Giving Drew a confused look, she hated to have to say it, but it needed to be done.
"I don't understand." Plain and simple, she didn't get it. "I mean, I understand that you have a detention, and rightly so why you would have one. But I don't know how this works into our conversation."
I love you, I love you too, you love me?, you love me?, what now?, I want to do what you do, I have a detention next Thursday. It just didn't make sense.

He smiled out of relief. She was confused, not upset. He had been worried she would have been mad at him for doing something stupid and getting into trouble.
"I was kidding..." he clarified, feeling that the tease kind of fell flat when it had to be explained. "You said you wanted to do whatever I do and I said I had detention..." Then he started wondering if she'd get mad he had implied she do extra detention for his stupidity. "I don't really want you to go to detention with me. Well, that would kind of be cool because then it wouldn't be so bad, but I was just joking." He attempted a small smile, still not sure about what she was going to say about it.

First off, Felicity would have no reason to be mad at him, not with all of the things she'd been doing this spring. Losing Gryffindor a hundred and fifty points from van Aller, sneaking into the Headmistress's office, and a number of other little things she'd done.
Smiling with relief that she had just been over thinking it, she pulled back enough to stick her tongue out at him. "I think I've had my share of detentions this year, I don't really want to do another one, even if it's just for you. My luck, I'd get stuck scraping dung off of something, and as much as I'd love spending time with you, I do have studies to get done."
Winking at her boyfriend, she leaned in and placed another gentle kiss on his lips. The Gryffindor never said what studies.

"If you haven't, then I'm sure I had enough to cover you," he answered, making a face back at her. Still, his average had dipped over the last few months, a phenomenon that he was attributing to the brown eyed blonde in his arms.
"It's probably for the better though," he continued. "That one we had together didn't go so well..." It probably would have gone better if they hadn't had to babysit the dang firsties. Actually, it probably would have gone better if they had deserved the dang detention to begin with...
