Just in case this wasn't hard enough Charlie's metaphors about 'eye scratching' and 'glued mouths' was most discouraging. Now his stomach butterflies seemed to have rocks in their stomaches.
Perhaps this wasn't the best time for this, if things turned awkward there was no place to go. Not to mention that something like this could break up a friendship and that is something that couldn't happen, their friendship was too important to him. Of course their friendship was strong and it should be able to counter any awkwardness over time. Plus now that I've finally started I can't just leave it, the conversation would be so random... Hiro took a moment to compile his options.
"Well you know that's just the stuff they let us see. I mean it can't all be bad otherwise there's no way they'd stay together right?" Hiro was still in the mix whether he was going to take the risk or not.

"Y'mean stuff they do b'hind closed doors?" Charlie said after giving it some thought. Truth was, she always saw Drew and Alhana as the cream of the corny of the couples, and it didn't help that Tammy and Tobias were the same as well.
She started to laugh a little, forcing it out of her more like it, since it was something she would rather block out. "I'd rather they keep it between them and no one else." It seemed rather weird for Hiro to bring up. How do you go from severed hands to mushy couples?
"Why are we talking 'bout them?" Charlie asked, hearing the rise of confusion in her own voice.

This was much harder than Hiro had ever thought it would be. No wonder Drew only did this once it was difficult to pull off. He must have messed it up when he brought in a different couple.
"Forget it." Hiro ended the conversation suddenly with a hint of disappointment in his voice. Maybe losing his hand was the better option...

Charlie readily stifled her under-the-breath laughter, knowing that she had put Hiro in some rough place. Her own laughter seemed to take her away temporarily from any weird thoughts. But when she calmed down, she nudged him and said after a sigh, "No really, dude. Tell me what you wanted to say. Promise not to laugh. Honest." She did keep a bit of a grin, though.

Well now he was in an even tighter spot, she was pressing the matter. Of course he didn't really think he'd get out of it that easily but it was worth a shot. Maybe there was still a way to change the topic...though her nudge was encouraging plus he probably wouldn't ge able to stand up straight any more cause he'd never be able to build up his backbone again. So now he just had to put it in words. "It's just that...um...I mean, I think that...no wait...umm...ok alright...uh...‚±‚ê‚É‚æ‚Á‚Ä‚ªŒ˜‚¢ŠõX‚µ‚¢ ...." At this Hiro hoped she didn't know Japanese and just took a break. "Sorry ok here it is, I think you have a great personality and I really like being around you and I want to date you." Sure it wasn't romance novel worthy but at least he finally got it out of his system. (I guess these boards don't have the right characters for Japanese still )

(I thought they did. Ivy once had Japanese lyrics in her siggy. What did it mean, though?)
Charlie's facial expressions contorted to a confused amusement as he stumbled around for some words. She found it to be pretty funny even when he spoke what seemed to be Japanese, though she was about to point out the small fact that she was unilingual when...
She had been silent. One moment, two moments, just a little too long. He could have probably heard nothing from her, but she was at least trying. Her mouth opened and closed like a goldfish, but each time nothing came out. Her thoughts were trying to reshape themselves, though, and when they began to, they oddly came out in the form of a game plan.
Ready, team? Let's BREAK!
A low chuckle came out from her, but it was more forced the first one. "Dude, you're just prankin' me, right? Tha-that's a goo-good one." It just didn't seem possible to Charlie. She played his words verbatim in her head for the fifth time already, and when she did, she did have this odd positive feeling. But... Hiro was just kidding, right?

(Something along the lines of me getting in trouble which is why I switched to a less known language)
This can't be good... Hiro thought at her reaction.
Hiro knew the power of words, he used them often but what he knew that silence was greater. Hiro personally hated silence which just made it stronger when he used it. It was far too late to try and pass this off as a prank, despite what Charlie thought. Hiro's face was an image of seriousness, a look he had never pulled off this well before in his life. He was going to wait until she saw his answer.

( ) Charlie stared at him as she went about thinking it was all a joke at her expense. But... he wasn't breaking into laughter, nor was there any illusion of light-heartedness. Her eyes dodged frantically. Calm it, Jones! Look, we're going figure out how to... well, deal with it. The reminder of the finger trap didn't add to the "plan". 'Kay, we won't try flight, then. Time for fight, 'kay? Let's do it, Jones." 'Kay, you're not prankin'," Charlie stated as she tried to process it and find a more solid plan. But all she kept thinking of was Tammy telling her about boys and love and clothes. Gah! Don't you even think about it! She had to try it her way, even if that really meant who knows what. But... what was it? It was one of those moments where Charlie was thinking too much than usual, and it was bothersome to think that this was screwing up her straight mind. She could have just punched him right then and there, maybe knock him unconscious so she could drag him to the wing, get the damn trap off, and escape free and clear. But if she was to learn anything this year, it was to figure things out before you failed. Clothesline him! "You... like... me?" Give 'im a right hook, he'll never know what hit him! "What if I told you..." Merlin, don't do it! You can still find a blunt object! "I... kinda... sorta..." Don't question why you should beat 'im, he just doesn't have to know! "... Like you?" Things felt better, but not exponentially. Still, she could say the reason why she zoned out sometimes, why she stared at him a little longer than she should when it was just the two of them, or why he seemed to make her feel good. I can handle all kinds of games, but not this one, kid. Just don't be going nervous on him, and don't act like an idiot. Meet me in a while. Leeet's BREAK!

(I don't know how healthy this'll be for me Find a blunt object ) Now Hiro's logically side wanted to ask how some one can kind of sorta answer with a question but that answer was good enough for the rest of him. And it showed, his face still was a little red and he had a smile on his face bigger than most faces should stretch. Hiro was so taken aback by his joy that he didn't realize he had no idea what to do next. All he could do at the moment was smile like an idiot.

(That's the agressor for yah But what he doesn't know won't hurt him... maybe... o.O... actually, it'd be a good idea to wear a helmet for now on.) "Oh, quit it," Charlie said with a forceful nudge while her cheeks flushed violently as well. Her lips twitched into a nervous smile, but she was quite serious as well. She felt a bit like she did the one time she was forced to put on a defensive lesson with Faulkland-- oddly vulnerable and put on the spot. This was another situation that wasn't like being surrounded by qudditch fans. That lesson seemed to be one of the rare times she felt this weak and frightened, except of course she warmed up to it once she realized how fun it was to beat up Corey without getting into more punishment. This wasn't going to be like it, obviously, as she had successfully fought her conscience from beating up on Hiro. Another issue seemed to come up with this, though-- one she didn't think of after making her own confession. "Uh-er... what do you and me do now...?" Her face contorted and conformed to confusion like her tone did. If there was ever a test on how to do this, she would surely fail. It was hard for her to remember much less consider the last part that Hiro said. Dating? It wasn't even in her vocabulary yet.

(I was thinking of stealling one of the suits of armor)
Well there goes that idea. Hiro had been under the impression that all girls had natural knowledge about dating and romance. Guess he was wrong on that one. Still with a smile, though much smaller and less red since the nudge, Hiro thought about it for a little bit.
"Well since we've taken the first step we should go on a date." Hiro concluded. Even though they had done plenty of date-like activities they hadn't gone on a 'date' yet so that was the first step. If all went well maybe there'd be another to follow. "That is of course after we figure out this stupid trap."

(Maybe a constant protego charm while you're at it)
Oh. The trap. One would have already been thinking that in the future this tiny, harmless-looking contraption played a major role, but Charlie did have a problem with it, not because of what had happened before, but because now it almost hindered what they were trying to do, which was figure out this whole dating thing.
"Date?" Charlie thought out loud, and in a brief moment of stupor, wondered what months and days had to do with this. But she wasn't that clueless. Her brother Chris was an expert at this... she just never bothered to ask him about it.
Back to the trap, though, she did have to silently nod in agreement. They had done everything they could think of in the presence of the circumstance. But it was all in panic, though. A lot of grunting and defeated groans in addition. Charlie thought to voice this. "'Kay, so the way we've done this isn't working." She looked to her free hand and outstretched her index finger. Keeping it straight out, she thought of something. "I remember my pops telling me that muscles contract and thicken with tension, something like that."

Hiro knew what she said to be true, Drew showed off his muscles all the time around Alhana...he called it flexing. Though Drew was stronger than Hiro, he figured it must help show off.
"Yeah that's how come this happens." Hiro began to flex though it wasn't anything to boast about and he kind of looked like an idiot. "Are you suggesting we have to remove our fingers without stressing the muscles?" The texture of the trap threw Hiro off from the conversation.

Charlie secretly smirked at his attempt to flex and had a hint of a blush on her. Her face grew hot at the acknowledgement of this, for it was a new sensation, but a more liberated one at that. Still, she wasn't about to blurt any such thing to him.
At his deducement, she replied, "Yeah, don't hurt to try, you know?" She gently squeezed both sides of the trap, and nodded. "Ready to try again?"

No wonder Mike said it was a simple trap. The solution was just so easy. Pulling your figures out didn't work so pushing the trap in should have been the next step. Though if they had figured that out before Hiro might not have finally asked her out. Lady luck seemed to be a prankster herself. In either case they were free of the trap and now a great weight was lifted off his chest. It was ironic that a small tube would be the cause of so much.
"Kind of embarassing isn't it?" Hiro stated when his finger was free. He then smiled at how easy it was. "Maybe it was enchanted or something, that way at least it sounds like we weren't shown up by a tube."
