Davis exited the building, looking up at the dark September sky. He stretched his arms out and yawned, shaking his head and trying to wake up. He had fell asleep in the common room, and more than likely had missed every single class, now it was just time to relax. He could do no more than just that.
Davis walked out into the Courtyards and over to a bench near a beautiful fountain. He sat on the bench, and pulled his legs up onto it as well, crossing his arms on his knees and laying his head there, watching the water trickle from the fountain in a slow, steady manner.

Evie had been walking around the grounds for nearly an hour, looking for something to draw. She knew that she should have been doing homework, practicing spells, or something else magical that she was sure she needed to be doing. However, the artist within would not let her mind rest enough to do any of those things until she took some time to draw. She had been neglecting her art lately and although she knew that she was not at Hogwarts to draw, she could not give up her passion without a fight.
Finally she reached the fountain again, something she had walked past numerous times. There was something different, however. A boy lay on one of the benches, seeming completely lost in thought. She instantly recognized him as the Ravenclaw boy she had seen sleeping in the common room earlier that day. The relaxed yet complex look on his face struck something within and she pulled out her pencil and sketchpad, beginning to draw him.

Davis sighed, tilting his head slightly as he looked around a bit. His eyes wandered and his mind traveled far. He was so confused and so alone, it wasn't fair. Davis needed someone in his life to help him get past the death of his sister, anyone. He sighed and rested his head back down on his arms, watching the water trickle slightly faster from the fountain and feeling occasional splashes hit is face and hands. He chewed on his lower lip before deciding to look around yet again.
When he did, he saw a blond headed girl that he recognized as a Ravenclaw. He didn't know her, but had seen her previously in the common room. Right before he passed out, missing all of his classes. He half-smiled and looked her over, she was drawing something, the fountain? Maybe it was him. Now that he thought about it, he did look as if he were posing. As he caught her eye, he turned his face away and looked back at the fountain, trying not to smile.

Evie blushed slightly, realizing that she had been caught watching the boy. Slowly she dropped to the ground and set her sketch pad on her knee. After her subject had resettled himself she began to draw again, doing her best to capture the look of intensity on his face. She could see that there was something important going on in his mind. Returning her eyes to her finished drawing, she sighed. 'Not your best work,' she thought to herself.
Looking up at him again, she sighed. Now she was faced with a dilema. He had noticed her drawing him, that much she was sure of. But what to do now? Did she approach him, hand him the drawing and ask what he thought?, or scamper away and put it with the others. 'Get ahold of yourself.' She thought, setting one hand on the cool grass and pushing herself to her feet.
Walking the short distance to the bench, Evie sighed. "It's not my best work." She said softly, holding the paper out. "But it's the first thing I've drawn in a long time."

Davis grinned as he saw the girl approaching out of the corner of his eye. He realized she was holding out her notebook that she had been drawing on and put his feet to the ground, feeling the cool grass through his sneakers. He crossed his ankles and took the paper, looking at himself. She had pictured him pretty well. Choppy hair and tight clothing, that was Davis. He looked up at her and tried to smile as much as he could, nodding.
"That's good though," he said, then patted the space beside himself, "How about you take a seat?" he asked.

A small sigh left her lips and she nodded. Slowly she sat next to him, studying his face quickly before her eyes darted down to the drawing in his hand. She was suddenly at a loss for words. What was she supposed to say to him?
"Are you...Ok?" She asked softly, wrapping her arms around her stomach and turning her head to look at him.

Davis smiled softly and handed the notepad back to her, stretching his arm. He nodded and licked his lips, hoping that he and this girl could become friends. He really needed a friend right now. A long, sad sigh escaped from his lips as he brushed his bangs out of his eyes to see her better. Davis scratched his head and looked away, but then looked back at her and tilted his head.
"Yeah, I'm okay, I suppose. I could be much better, though," he said, "How about you, are you alright?" he asked, trying to smile.

Evie nodded as she took her notepad back. "Oh yes." She breathed out, setting the drawing on the other side of her on the bench. "It's just so overwhelming. Coming to a new place like this, I mean. I'm just so used to it being just me and me mum." She looked down and then smiled up at him. "I'm Evie, by the way." She said, holding her hand out. "Evie Pavion. Newest transfer and a Ravenclaw fourth year." She hated defining herself by her house and year, but it seemed to be the only way to introduce herself to anyone.

Davis mustered his best smile and stretched his hand out. He shook her gentle hand softly, his warm ones against her cool ones. He liked the feel, but pulled his hand back and let it rest at his side. He bit down on his lip and looked her up and down, out of habit. He finally brought his eyes back up to hers and tried to smile as best as he could.
"Evie, wow, unique name," he said, smiling, "Well, I suppose my name could be unique. Having a last name as a first one isn't always fun," he grinned. "I'm Davis, Davis Rossi. I'm a Ravenclaw as well, and a fifth year at that," he stated, adding in a small smile.

Teeth bit down gently into her bottom lip as he Davis took her hand. Her eyes closed slowly and she thought she could feel his eyes move over her body once, but she ignored the thought. He was obviously older and probably had a girlfriend. When she opened her eyes she found his looking back at her and she smiled softly.
"Well, my full name is Evalyn. But I think it makes me sound like a ninety year old woman, so I stick with Evie." She explained, laughing lightly. "And Davis is a cool name, I think. Makes you sound all forboding. 'Don't mess with me, I'm Davis'." Evie imitated before blushing brightly and looking down.

Davis chuckled softly. He hadn't laughed in forever, and it felt so good to do so. He smiled and rested an arm on the back of the bench, his fingers dangling and touching Evie's back. He moved them a little, tangling them in her hair. He smirked, pursing his lips together on the left side of his mouth and nodded.
"Yep, I'm one fierce guy," he said, smiling, "You are so right. Evalyn, wow. Definitely a name that you can use in several decades," he said, nodding. He grinned, "So have you met any students here yet, Miss Pavion?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Evie giggled, resting farther back against the bench. She felt his fingers tangle lightly in her hair and sighed softly. She had never really been close to a boy, always having things to do when she had been home. Now though, she felt her heart to a little flip, although she wasn't sure why.
"Hmmm," she thought for a moment. "I've met a few people. Felicity and Celina and Michael. They're all older than I am, though. I feel like such a baby. Especially because I'm not that good with magic yet." Looking down at her hands in her lap, Evie sighed. She hadn't meant to spill her secret, that she was so insecure about practicing, but she couldn't help it. It just...came out.

Davis nodded, "I know what you mean. Growing up in a muggle household is no fun. You don't even get advice from anybody. You just have to do it all by yourself- or that's my case," he sighed and chewed on his lip. He was muggle-born. He couldn't help it. His mother and father were both muggles. He shook his bangs out of his face, as his fingers fiddled with the tips of her hair.
"Its alright, it really is. I'm not going to .. judge you just because of your abilities," he said, "Although that drawing was pretty good." Davis grinned gently, "Lets see.. I've met nobody but you and the professors. I guess you could call me a loner," he joked.

Evie smiled, glad to have someone understand. "I'm not exactly a muggleborn. I'm halfbreed. Mum's a muggle, dad was a wizard. Graduated Hogwarts. But he died when I was still a baby. Mum didn't want me to go off to Hogwarts at eleven, couldn't lose the rest of her family. So she hired a tutor. One of dad's old friends, I guess." She paused, catching her breath and turning her head to the side. "And my drawing isn't that good, really. I missed all the details of your face." She whispered, letting her eyes soak in those details now.
"You're the first person here that I've actually talked to. Everyone else seems annoyed when I meet them."

"Yeah, I can understand somewhat," Davis stated, nodding. He sighed and turned to face the fountain, the sunlight not hitting his face anymore, but sinking behind the earth. He watched water trickle from the fountain for a while before turning back to face Evie. Davis raised his eyebrows and mustered a soft grin as much as he could. It was so hard for him to smile, but seemed a lot easier around Evie. He chewed on his lower lip, but lifted his teeth from them as he began to speak.
"Really?" he asked, first impressions were everything, "Hmm. Well, I'm not really annoyed, but sad or depressed, I guess you could say." It didn't sound like it though. Davis's voice seemed to indicate that he was in a good mood. He was, he just was upset still from the death of his sister. "Well, I guess that I'm not like all of those other kids," he said, showing a true smile, and rubbing her upper back gently as he said it.
