"Hypocrite?" She echoed, and then digested it in Spanish "Hypocrita?!? You must be ki--" She grabbed at the roots of her hair and tugged in frustration. She had a thing or two to tell him about hypocrisy. Like how he could go between these two extremes with her and Celina and everyone else. He was as inconsistent as she was!
She couldn't exactly finish her ranting as he had cut her off with those few words. Just the way he sounded... as if he had to feel bad for her when they met. When they kissed. When she put her vulnerabilities to him. "I'm not your charity case, Alfonz. Dios mio! You just seemed... so worth it to me." Her temper settled as she went about on her time with him. She couldn't believe it, but... was he the reason why she could feel the stings in her eyes? The knot in her throat? As she began to backpedal and turn, she added, "How could you prove me wrong?"

Alfonz stood with his back towards Shay, unaware of the emotion she was close to showing...for him? Why was it that everytime he turned he was making someone he cared for argue with him or cry over him? Did she even know what the meaning of worth was? What that actually came down to? How could she even repeat what he had thought of her. He was more worthy than probably anyone she'd ever meet in her life time, and now she beckoned him back with such words?
"I know your not my charity case," he said back to her, loud enough for her to hear with his back to her. "I don't give out charity." Turning around he could see how hurt he had made her and it made him have such pain within himself, that he had never before felt. What the hell was wrong with him? Why after a few weeks of not seeing her, all of which he had come to know with her, was rising up to the surface again? Making him weak....
"I proved only who I am to you, Shay...and you've taken it and tried to change things you have no business, nor right in." Alfonz's voice cracked a little but he was quick to cover it with a fake cough. He was not about to lose it over someone he barely knew. Not over someone who could ultimately ruin everything he had worked so hard in his life to accomplish. No matter how much his body still yerned for her, and his mind still wondered about her.

Shay turned felt more stinging her eyes. For a moment she covered her hand with her mouth as if to gag her, but she remained talking to him with a clear voice. "This isn't all of you..." Her eyes shifted downward. She knew that if her eyes emoted too much than she wanted, then she had to hide them away. Unfortunately it was ridiculous to don sunglasses. For now, the snow was somewhat of her cover.
She had hoped to Merlin that Celina was still watching the clown, and not them. They were in one shot, one farther from the other, and just staring each other down-- or at least she thought Alfonz was. She couldn't bear to look at him. It was just disppointing to her. But how could she continue with something like this? Her heritage was insulted. She was a downgrade in his eyes.

Alfonz gave Shay a look of disbelief? What did she mean when she said 'this isn't all of you'? What he was showing to her at the moment was probably the most he'd ever shown the young girl and she still denied that she was standing before Alfonz Tytus Jedynak? He doubted he was interpreting her correctly. Chuckling a bit to himself, he spouted to her..."Don't be foolish....what are you talking about? Isn't all of me? If it isn't...then what am I lacking?" His arms out gesturing for her to take a good look at him and tell him exactly what was lacking from him.
The comments he had spoken aloud already started to plague his mind. He wasn't one usually to tell others what he was thinking of them, especially those he found himself caring for. He tried to shake them off of him. It was better this way.....wasn't it? "I gave you more of me than anyone....and still you wanted more." Alfonz shook his head. She wanted to "help" his sister? Doubtful. Change Celina, take her away? More likely. And after everything they had shared...even now....he wasn't about to let that happen.

"The date... that was another part of you," She frowned and put her eyes to his shoes. If there was more time to tell him more things, she would. She definitely would. Though with what was going on... she didn't think he would give her the time of the day. And to be honest, she wouldn't either.
"I didn't, nor will I ever, ask you for something... ludicrous. I never asked for the moon. Hell, I never even asked you to make me your girlfriend." Just that load of evidence, her knowledge that she wasn't wrong-- at least by a lot-- brought her eyes to him and she added, "All I asked you is to just not... discredit your sister. Don't be abrasive or paranoid or cynnical. That's not impossible to ask of you."

"Shay..." Alfonz couldn't even speak. Did she just say what he thought she did? No, she didn't ask him for anything ever. He gave willingly, even he could admit that to himself. But she had no knowledge of where she tread when it came to Celina. Alfonz and Celina were night and day, and without one the other could not possibly survive. Alfonz felt this way incredibly.
"I'm not any of those things....I'm just protective of her. She knows not what she gets herself into, until it's much too late. She's always been like that. I will not have her make the wrong fatal mistake and possibly lose her...you....you just don't understand..." And to Alfonz, Shay didn't. Celina had been there in his own hard times where friends, and family just pushed harder for greatness from him. Celina had never expected anything more from him but being a brother.
And then his mind went from Celina back to Shay herself. What was he going to do? What was there to do? In a few minutes, she'd leave him there out in Diagon and he'd probably go on living life as though he had never met her, or kissed her, or even gone out on that date with her. He'd have to forget in order to survive, and he probably could in time. All the arguing with himself that had lead to him to finally decide that she was pure in her own ambition and greatness.....wasted.
Shoving his hands in his pockets, he looked back at Shay wanting so much to approach her, but unknowing and fearing what she'd do. All he needed was another scene to be made in Diagon, and he didn't really want to try his luck that a third scene wouldn't make it into the paper this time. Especially, with Shay being the photographer. So...now what did they do?

Her face flushed, but she couldn't tell why. Maybe it was just pure embarassment or a longing or even an adrenaline. SHe just knew her face was hot, and he was doing a great disservice to both females. "'Protective' is an understatement," she told him, and shook her head at him. "I would love to understand." The storm still stirred in her voice, but she was becoming gentle. She just didn't like to be that mad at someone. What he said, though... "But apparently you think I can't. As in I actually can't. It's degrading to think you might believe that."
She stuck her hand in her jacket to keep her warmth, but she didn't know what else to do. Every moment she was more stuck in the spot. Shay didn't think Alfonz would stay as long, though. Deep down, that was what really worried her. Everything would feel ruined if they really parted ways.

"How would you know? Have you even talked to Celina? No. What I do for her, is what I can do to keep her safe. It's not anymore, and definately not any less. But no, Shay...I don't think you can understand." And she thought he was being degrading? Alfonz scoffed. So, many other times had he held his tongue with her in his presence. So, many times he had to compromise silently without her even knowing. She didn't understand. She couldn't without knowing everything, and Alfonz wasn't about to take the time to explained himself and his whole life to her.
The wind bustled and as he just stood there and starred at her there was nothing he could even think or say to make any of this right again. It was right just the way it was. How could he have thought her any different? But then again, she was. No other woman would have gone against him with his teachings for his sister. Not if they were in it for the money and whatever else he could provide to them. This confirmed for Alfonz that Shay was in it with him for something else, yet now was very much to late for the confirmation. "I'm sorry, Shay," he started. "But when it comes to this perticular subject," without looking any place but from Shay, Alfonz felt another's body work their way in between his arm and body, gently embracing him. "You have no say. No matter how strongly you think you feel about it." And that was that.

The clown was magnificent and Celina couldn't stop laughing and smiling, even as she walked back to where her brother and Shay stood. But something was off, Shay and Alfonz were standing so far away from one another and she couldn't tell about Shay, but she knew that angry look on Alfonz as if he was losing something dear to him or Celina had just broke a new broom he bought. He was upset, very, and Celina didn't understand what had happened in the few minutes that she had watched the other man's demonstration. Coming closer, she could hear all of what was being said. Shay said something about Alfonz thinking she couldn't understand something, and Alfonz told her right back that she was right. Not good. Celina's mind flashed back to the night in the tavern with Drew and Allegra. It was horrid, and she hoped dearly that she was mistaken with what was going on between Alfonz and his friend.
As she crept up to her brother's side, she almost expected him to stop talking. Though, he was to engrossed in what was going on. Celina noticed also that when she placed herself in between her brother's arm and his body, he still didn't look away from the other woman. Nor did he stop telling her what had to be said. What did she have no say in? "Alfonz?" Celina whispered looking up at her older brother and then across the way at Shay. What had happened? Alfonz said nothing to her, his hand just tightly grasped around her and she leaned her head against him. What had Alfonz done now? Or better yet, what had Shay done to upset him? Celina could only hope that whatever it was, it had nothing to do with her.

"Was I ever going to?" Shay only said, her voice just cracking under her own tension. It was easy to admit that it hurt her very much to think that maybe all she wanted to do to help was just seen as something evil and uppity. This was just how she was-- past, present, and future. And though the path she sought to forge warned her of looking like someone who was trying to unnecessarily place their mark, she had put it all in on account of the risk. That's how it had been for the longest time with Alfonz. Risky to confront him in Flourish, risky to have a drink with him, risky to tell him that, place a bet, kiss him... There was often a benefit in that, but there wasn't one here. No, not when he wanted to encase his sister in a shell to have her suffocate slowly. Oh, she didn't have a say in that.
Was I ever going to? it echoed in her mind again, crashing down what she thought would happen between them according to their affairs. It wouldn't have been perfect, or even permanent, but she wasn't thinking the future would be in all of that cold white snow that froze the time for all of them. She sighed and tried to say something with her mouth open, but she wasn't sure she could in front of Celina.
What she could say and do... well, it caused more damage to her than she would have expected it to. "I-I'm sorry," she closed her eyes for a moment and slowly turned around. Each second just made her turn of the heel and the sequence of footsteps more surreal-- not that she couldn't believe that she was walking away, but that she had even had this connection with this man, the one who intrigued her and boldened her and empassioned her. He was just surreal to her.

Celina watched as Shay became even more upset, and turned, and walked away. "Alfonz?" she questioned again. Why was his friend walking away? Why was she so upset? What happened?! Celina wanted to tell Alfonz to go after his friend, for he had to be the reason why she was upset. Alfonz had done it again. Just like in the tavern to Drew. What was wrong with him? Sure, he never was the most polite of all people, but he never made people cry as he just had. Or at least not to Celina's knowledge. Was this person who she grasped a hold of even her brother?
Celina didn't let go. She just wondered and wanted to cry, as well. Alfonz had just been a horrible person to his own friend, or so it seemed now. Was this to prove a point to her? That friends were expendable? She hoped not. Not at the cost of another's tears.

Alfonz didn't speak. He just looked at Shay with such contempt where he knew if he said anything it would be his last ever speaking with the young woman he had come to care even the slightest bit about. It disgusted him how much he cared. Caring was useless and as he had feared when he started, it only lead to one more weakness. Was she ever going to? To what? Know Celina? Talk with Celina? That had been the plan until she had decided to screw it up by questioning his authority over his own blood. He was in charge when it came to that, and he made sure Celina knew it. If he didn't need her friends influencing her, then Alfonz was damn sure that his relations were not going to get involved either.
If Shay didn't agree, or fancy that plan then watching her walk away, no matter how many pangs shot through his gut, Alfonz found that was the only thing left to do. Celina ultimately had saved him. Saved him from giving himself to any other. His mind was grateful, though there was still a part of him that could have yelled further but at Celina instead. He held his tongue. All he needed was two crying females. It was bad enough Celina had cried earlier that day.
Alfonz could feel his younger sister's eyes burrowing into him. She said his name as a question and Alfonz found no words even for her. He was surprised that she didn't say anything about it, or in question to what had happened. Was Celina afraid? Afraid of him? No. That couldn't have been, but she knew better than to ask. Alfonz had told her time and time again that his business was his own because he was an adult. The right that he had by living on his own was just that. To keep his private life to himself, even from family.
"Let's go. I'm sorry, Celina, but I want to go home." Celina nodded at her brother's request, not sure of what else to do and not wanting to cause another fight for her older brother. Grasping a hold tightly of Celina and bringing her closer to his body, he watch as Shay disappeared into the crowed, and apparated away.
