October 31, 2009 Halloween morning dawned wet and cold. The weather did little to deter a small and sopping ball of feathers as it made its way up to the Gryffindor tower. The precious letter tied to the leg of the hyper saw-whet was slightly damp, but the little bird intended to fulfill his duty best he could. Bogie perched on the Fat Lady's frame and waited patiently until a familiar blonde exited the Lion's common room. As soon as he caught sight of his target, he fluttered around her head excitedly, quite pleased with himself for a job well done. The letter he carried held a simple, but very important message: Please come to the front gates of the school after classes. A surprise will be waiting for you there.
Love, Drew Bogie made sure to stay close to his charge all day, only needing a few reminders to wait outside of the classrooms until lessons were over. When it was finally time for the girl to go out to the grounds, he became very insistent that she keep the appointment. The little bird knew his mission and would not fail… no matter how annoying he got.

Exiting the Gryffindor Tower that morning had been a chore, especially when a ball of feathers made its presence known by fluttering here and there, spraying Felicity with every movement, making it difficult to untie her letter from his leg. The familiarity of the owl gave Felicity butterflies, knowing he'd recently been with Drew, as Bogie would only be sending her a letter from her boyfriend. Excitement coursed through her, as it did every time she received a letter from the boy, hoping it would bring news, of his life, her mum, and if he knew whether they could meet up in Hogsmeade yet or not. The date of the trip was arriving soon, and she could barely keep from bursting. It would be right around his birthday, and she wanted nothing more than to celebrate with him.
However, the letter was extremely short, and rather confusing. Why by the front gate after classes? Turning the letter over in her hands, she hoped there'd be more written, but found nothing. Curiously watching Bogie, she decided to run down to the gate first off, to see if whatever was there was there yet. Unfortunately, she'd been disappointed and merely had to run off to class, shooing the bird so he wouldn't follow. The chore sounded simple enough, but wasn't quite so easy put into practice.
Between every class, Bogie hovered, and when she had the chance Felicity ran down to the gate, despite the weather, to check for her surprise, but to no avail.
Her very last class of the day was held not far from the ground floor, and as soon as they were released, she ran from the class, not bothering to greet the owl once more. Drew had said after classes, so that would mean whatever it was was supposed to be there. She only hoped it wasn't a gift as she had nothing for him in return. Very well aware of the day, the event which took place two years previous, she wondered what he could have sent her.
Racing across the grounds, she slid as she tried to take a smaller trail, fell and smeared mud all over her side, but it didn't deter her mind any from where she was to be. The front gate loomed just ahead.

Diligent as ever, Bogie fluttered near the girl all day, not letting up even when she headed out to the grounds at the proper time. Zooming ahead quickly, only to race back to where she was, he seemed to be urging her to hurry. He was well aware of what was waiting once they got to the gates... all the owl treats he could eat.
But of course, that wasn't all. Drew was standing off to the side of the path, wearing his warmest blue wool sweater and a pair of jeans. He had been waiting by the gate for Bogie to return for almost an hour having spent a few hours before that at Franco's getting things ready. The small bird finally showed up to let him know it was time, flapping in his face excitedly before flying back to where Drew was sure Felicity was on the path. He stepped out onto the path just in time to see his girlfriend picking herself out of the mud. He wanted to call out to her to see if she was okay, but in the end chose to be quiet and wait for her to see him.

Groaning, Felicity stood up and looked down at her uniform. It was caked with mud, not that she would usually mind, but she hoped she wouldn't get whatever Drew wanted her for dirty. It would be horrible if he had gotten her a gift and she dirtied it right after it was given to her; and though she hoped it wasn't a gift, at the same time, she hoped it was something. Two long months since she'd last seen him, and it was irking her. His letters came as always, and she had sent his sweatshirt back often for him to make smell like him again, she'd flipped through the photographs she had of him every night, but it was nothing like being in his presence, feeling his warmth, seeing his smile.
Doing her best to brush a bit off, she noticed it only covered her hand in the stuff and she sighed defeated-like, wishing she hadn't fallen, though not minding very much. Turning toward the gate, her breath caught. Right there, not far from her, was Drew. Or a very good lookalike. But, it couldn't be. He had the Academy, and this was school, he couldn't very well be on the grounds, could he?
It only took a little owl zooming overhead for the blonde to change her mind and she ran at him at full speed.
"Drew!" she shouted, taking the last few steps to close the small space between them, throwing her arms around his neck and holding on for dear life. How could this be real? How did he get there? At the castle? Did it really matter when he was there and she could touch him like she was? He was real, and that was what mattered.

No, he couldn't be on the grounds, and she couldn't be off of them, but he had decided way back in June that meeting right there at the school gate didn't break any rules. She stayed on her side and he stayed on his.
For the most part. As she ran to him, he started whooping his own excitement, thrilled to be able to surprise her. Her arms went around his neck and he grabbed her up to hold her close. It had been two long months since she had gotten on the train and for two months he had been doing everything he could to get to this very moment. "Good surprise?" he asked, pretty sure it was.

Though the gate was between them, and it was slightly uncomfortable to hold onto him around the gate, she didn't mind. Just the mere fact he was there was enough to make everything all right. Letting her fingers run over the back of his neck, she missed his curls, but didn't make notice of it. After all, he had cut his hair for work, not just to cut it.
"Very good surprise," she whispered breathlessly. Only one thing could be better, either he could be inside the gates, or she could be outside of them. Drew was there, where she could touch him, feel his breath, spend time with him. No, they couldn't go anywhere together, but she could hold onto him.

It was great just to hold her and he was pretty sure this short time they had together would get him through the next month until that Hogsmeade trip... or make him miss her so much more that he wouldn't be able to handle it. It was a chance he was willing to take as long as he could hold her and feel the softness of her skin and smell the sweetness in her hair. Having her fingers run through the short hairs on the back of his neck was pretty good too and sent a wave of pleasant tingles up his spine.
"You fell. Are you okay?" he asked, knowing she wasn't afraid of a little mud. It was one of the things he loved about her.

"I am now," she answered in a corny manner, a smile still placed on her face. Two years, two very long, yet extremely short years of being together, two months of being apart, and she felt as though it had been two years since she had last seen him. At least she knew how much she really was in love with him just by being in his presence once more. Those letters and his sweatshirts got her through, but there was nothing like seeing him again, except it made her want to be with him all the more; and they'd all ready discussed the options of her leaving Hogwarts, he didn't like it.
"I can't believe you're here, right now, today," she told him, unable to believe it, but knowing it was true. Drew was there and she was happy. Couldn't he come onto school grounds though? Just as a visiting former student? For an hour? For a few minutes?

It was kind of corny, but he loved it anyway. It told him that not only had she not been hurt too badly, but she was glad he was there. It wasn't the most ideal situation and in all honesty he would have traded the gate between them for the couch at her house with her mom upstairs, but at least he could see her, hear her voice, and hold her close. Heck, if he didn't mind the bars too much, he could even maybe kiss her.
"Do you have anything planned tonight?" he asked, knowing she hadn't expected him and might have something else to do. "I have a picnic if you can stay a while."

"I don't have anything planned," she answered quickly, shaking her head and causing the blonde lacks to sway back and forth. In fact, she was so surprised that any possible plans left her mind immediately, she'd give up a lot to spend a little time with Drew. The only things remotely on her mind were homework and the library, and there would always be time later or the next day. Nothing important was calling attention to her mind other than the pretty blue-eyed boy on the other side of the gate.
"I can stay as long as you can. I don't have anything I have to do, right now, or later."

Drew felt a rush of excitement as the plan he had been working on for months was actually coming together. He had hoped she'd be free for the evening, not wanting to spoil the surprise by actually asking her to keep herself available, but of course he had always known that she might have made other plans without knowing what his were.
"I don't want you to get busted by missing curfew," he told her, pulling away slowly but letting one hand drift down her shoulder so he could hold her hand. As he walked to his set up, he couldn't actually keep hold of her, but he would do his best, keeping his palm against the gate in the hopes that she would do the same.
Just a few paces along the perimeter of the school, he had set out a tarp and a blanket, using some tricky wandwork to get half on each side of the fence. Even trickier was the canopy he had set up, a last minute addition when he saw the weather wasn't going to cooperate. Situated right against the fence was the basket he had packed, still containing what he had hoped would be a shared dinner of chicken, biscuits, milk, and some warm veggies. It wasn't fancy, but he didn't think that was really the point. He just wanted to spend a little time with her.

"I won't be," she answered with a smile. Either she'd make it back to her dormitory on time, or hopefully she'd run into a friend Prefect, Dante or Connor would be perfect...though Connor was the Head Boy. Actually, she thought as long as she didn't run into that horrid Head Girl, she'd be just fine. Most of the time the Professors didn't prowl too much. Besides, Drew had to work in the morning as was, so she knew he wouldn't stay very late anyway.
Following Drew, as she would at any point in time to the ends of the earth, Felicity was more focused on keeping her attention on the boy there than on what was within view. The fact he was moving hadn't concerned her any, she was just willing to go anywhere he did. Too bad he wasn't on the grounds, they could've visited their tree, and much more.
However, as his pace slowed, she allowed hers to, only then noticing the canopy. "Did you do this?" she asked, her voice loud with wonderment. How? Could he perform magic from outside the school inside the grounds?

"Yeah," Drew answered with a crooked smile and a small shrug. It hadn't been easy to do actually, getting the set-up to basically straddle the fence, but he had managed. Apparently whatever security systems had been set up, didn't include keeping picnic blankets out. He hadn't had any problems getting a hand through the bars either, so he was actually wondering if he was being too cautious staying on his side of the fence. In the end he figured it was better to be safe than sorry. If he messed this up by bending the rules, he might not be able to see her in November.

"I love it," she answered, a smile set in place on her face. While she wasn't too sure how he'd done it, the thought of security didn't really cross her mind, as it was more in tune with her heart on the boy. Who really cared just how he'd managed? She was just glad to see him, on Halloween, and to be able to touch him. Writing was nice, but hearing his voice was ten times better. Who could argue with the adorable one he had? Certainly not the pretty blonde.
"So..." did he have plans? Was there something he wanted to do right away? Did he only have a bit of time? Would he care if she dared stay past a little of her curfew to be with him? Well, he did have training, so maybe that wouldn't be the best of ideas.

"So," he echoed with a smile, just glad to be there with her. They had been a couple for two years and he was surprised to feel that old nervousness around her. He still got those butterflies on a regular basis when she was near, but it had been a while since he got flustered enough where he didn't know what to say or do. He could feel that goofy grin cross his face and the only difference from two years ago, was he didn't mind so much looking like a dork around her anymore.
Bogey was above them, hopping from fence post to fence post and finally perching above the picnic as if he was invited. Perhaps if he tried really hard to be good, he'd get a nibble of whatever was in the basket.
"I've got dinner if you're interested in that," Drew told the pretty blonde, thinking it wasn't just greener grass that made the other side of the fence a better place to be. "But really, I just want... I just wanted to see you and spend a little time with you."
