Kings-Cross Station was a busy place, no matter the time of year. However, for some reason that its usual population could not reason, the traffic picked up considerably on the mornings of September First and some of the oddest sights as well. Teenagers wheeling trolleys larger than they were with caged owls and rats. Adults oddly dressed muttering about "so many muggles". It happened every year, and yet, these strange folks were never seen on board the trains with them. It was uncanny. Pure and utterly uncanny.
For after all, muggles are far from observant.
These strange folk, after all, did not simply disappear. For between Platform 9 and Platform 10, sits an entrance to another platform. One of which was scurrying with robed men and women seeing their children off onto a large train pulled by a scarlet stream engine. Many of these youthful figured greeted one another, arms raised and voices shouting out to familiar faces. And yet others still, the smallest and youngest of the bunch stared around in excitement or awe.
The large clock's minute hand clicked over to read a quarter till 11.

Alex dawned his brand new Ink robes, made sure the Ink logo was visible on his collar and made a few more adjustments before pocketing his wand. He made some little adjustments to his hair so it was the perfect balance between a total mess and stylish and glanced at his watch; still five minutes until Carrel would be up to get his trunk. He gave both his owls a treat, he had names the large black and brown owl Mulciber and the baby brown one Pantalaimon, and checked his trunk before flopping neatly down on the bed and watching the owls. At exactly 10:00 o’clock Carrel rapped on his door and said, “Mr. Ink?” And entered without waiting for an answer.
“Hello Carrel,” He answered in a bored tone and stood up. He glanced in the mirror again, checked his wand, grabbed Pan’s cage and walked out to the waiting limo. After one or two stops at muggle places they arrived at Kings Cross Station 10:30. At 10:45 he passed through the barrier with his trunk and both owls. He stopped and gazed at the crowed and trait. He was not that impressed, you’d think to get to a magic school they would be riding carpets or brooms or something along those lines. He pushed his cart through the crowed and, with a bit of heaving and shoving, got his trunk onto the train. He dragged it, with the two cages tottering dangerously on top, along the corridor until he reached an empty compartment. This did not take long, he seemed to be one of the only people on the train, everybody else was on the platform. He shoved his trunk up into the rack and set his owls in a window seat and the seat next to it to save his spot and hurried back off the train to observe ‘the locals’ as he thought of everybody on the station that who came from the U.K.

"Did you pack your toothbrush? And you have Percy, right? Did you bring his food? What about your extra set of robes, do you have those?"
It took a lot of self-control not to roll her eyes and groan, but Abigail managed to surpress it all and nodded her head again and again as her father asked question after question. Half of her body was hanging out the train window, her luggage already in the overhead compartment and Percival sitting snug in his white cloth-covered cage on one of the seats. Abby nodded once more, "Yes Dad, I have it all. I checked three times!" Despite her best attempt to sound relaxed and calm, her voice reflected annoyance.
David sighed from his stance beside the train on the platform. "Well, you know it's hard for Percy to carry large packages! He isn't the strongest owl."
Abigail nodded, "I know, I know. But I have everything, I'm positive." In fact the Huffle had searched the entire house, under beds, couches, in closets, etc. and found everything the week before so she wouldn't be looking the morning of departure.
"Don't forget to write!" David said for the twentieth time that morning. Elizabeth stood beside her father, holding on to his slacks and looking around at the crowds of people in the station. Abby sighed, her voice no longer holding that annoyed tone.
"I know Dad, I won't," she said. Abby understood her father was only worried about her, but it was tiresome. "It's quarter of; the train's going to be leaving soon. I'll write when we get there, I promise." Abby waved and blew a kiss to both her father and sister before pulling herself from the window and taking her seat beside the owl cage. A bag sat between herself and her owl and contained an assortment of items including her robes, a book, and her wand (for now she was clad in a pair of blue jeans and an Adidas blue and white long-sleeved shirt). The second year sat comfortably, her eyes looking out the window at her retreating family and the many students flying through the barrier with strained looks upon their faces. It was loud, with all the hustle and bustle and chatter of everyone, and it induced a feeling of excitement in the girl. She was a transfer the previous year, and this was her first venture on the train.
I wonder how long the trip is...

Alexis walked into Kings Cross station with her parents and sister. Their father ran off to get trollys for the two girls and loaded up their trunks or in Alexis's case, an owl and trunk. She couldn't wait to get back to school. After the summer she had, anything was better.
"Now, vhere vas this platform again Lexi?" mother asked. "I can never remember where they hid it."
Alexis just rolled her eyes. "Mama, ve have to go through platforms nine and ten. And I told you ve vould arrive early." She was still a little cranky since her parents woke her up early to make sure they had everything and to take them to the train. It almost seemed like they wanted to get rid of them. Unless they just had another important meeting. At least she wouldn't have to go through the whole did you forget anything phase again.
Going through the barrier, the Hogwarts Express stood there waiting for them. "Alright girls! Have a good term! Don't forget to write to us every once in a while." Her father said hugging them. Then looking at Alexis he continued, "Don't forget what we said about Flora."
Alexis smiled, "Don't vorry. I'll watch her." But just because she was now a prefect didn't mean that her sister would listen to her. "Alright Flora, lets get a compartment before they fill up!"

Today was the day. As he arrived with his grandmother, he thought the air still smelt the same. He took a deep breathe and looked at Brittany and his grandmother. "So, just like the last four years right? Walk through platforms nine and ten?" he asked his his grandmother.
"Yes, Tristan. Since your old enough I want you to go alone this time with Brittany. Find a compartment and --"
"I know the rules," Tristan said interupting his grandmother. He saw that she smiled and then Tristan was ready. "Alright, Brittany you first," he said to her then watching that she went through it perfectly. "Alright. See ya next year grandmum," he said to her.
"Don't forget to write!" she yelled back at him as Tristan went through the wall. Once he got in, he saw Brittany was waiting. "Well... let's go," he said to her. As usually his owl Aaron was sleeping so it was perfectly fine. As the man took their luggage, he and Brittany aboarded the Hogwarts Express. He took awhile and found an empty compartment. He opened it up and let Brittany go in first then he went in too. He sat down across from her. "Well... now we wait," he said to her.

Flora was excited. She was finally going to Hogwarts. As they walked up to Kings Cross station, her soft, blue eyes shone with excitement and aniticipation after some of the things her sister told he about the school. Also, since the sorting ceremony would take place one they got there, Flora really wanted to find out if you really did have to sing the school song while making toads appear and catch them. Well, all she hoped for was that she was in Ravenclaw, not Hufflepuff like Alexis. Not that it was a bad house, it was just that she didn't want to be in the same house.
At first Flora was a little confussed about going though a barrier just to get onto the train. "Are you sure about-" she started but as soon as her sister had vanished, she didn't have anymore questions about that. Going through, Flora saw that there were a few people who already got there. Maybe more would show up when it got closer to eleven. "Good bye Papa! Bye Mama!"she waved to her parents. As she walked with her sister, she remembered that she was going to meet Michelle on the platform to sit with her in a compartment. "Umm...Lexi, I meet someone in Diagon Alley and I told her I was going to meet her here." Flora told her. "Can we stay out here for a few minutes and wait for her?"

"Andrew! Andrew! Stop running ahead!" Aunt Abigail called out to him as he tried to play bumper carts with Allegra. His sister, of course, pretended to have nothing to do with the game, already getting her Head Girl Attitude rolling, but every so often she banged his cart with her own and then try to look innocent.
"I'm fine, Aunt Abigail! I know what I'm doing! Shees!" he called back to the older woman making race car noises and nearly missing a rubbish barrel.
"Don't you start to get cheeky with me Andrew!" she answered back, swinging her handbag at his backside. What she carried in there was a mystery, but if it made contact, it definitely hurt.
"C'mon, I'm almost sixteen," Drew protested, flinching at the swing before realizing thankfully that it had none of the usual menace. "I think I can handle getting on the train by myself now."
"Rough times... rough times, Andrew..." she said in a low voice. She had been following the Eleven attacks in the Prophet and those on top of Professor Avery's murder last year had left the whole family antsy about the Thornton kids returning this year.
Drew grinned back and gave her a comforting one-armed hug. "We'll be fine. I promise," he told her, but he stayed by her side until they reached the barrier between Platforms 9 and 10.

"We'll be fine, Aunt Abigail," Allegra echoed, giving Drew's cart another quick nudge. "You went to Hogwarts. You know how safe it is," she added. Of course, Aunt Abigail had been a student at Hogwarts during that golden time between Grindewald's defeat and Voldemort's rise. Dumbledore had just been named Headmaster and according to Aunt Abigail and Grandmother, all had been right in the wizarding world. Things had changed a bit since then.

This was so weird. So she was just supposed to go through the platform. Lily understood about the whole magic thing now and had studied hard all summer, but that didn't mean some things weren't still a little strange to her. It had only been a summer and that was just all studying at home and with Channel. It was nothing like going to an actual school. She was nervous and scared.
Lily had managed to convince Channel and Matt that she should be allowed to go to the platform by herself as she was newly turned 16. (Well the actual truth was that both were working, but Lily wasn't going to tell herself that.) She was rather distracted and didn't notice when her cart ran into that of a boy's, who couldn't be much older than her ((Drew for the reference of everyone)). "I'm so sorry," she said sincerely. "Just thinking and everything and I wasn't really watching where I was going." He was kind of cute though. Wisely, she kept these thoughts to herself.

"No problem," Drew answered, giving Lily a half-hearted smile back. He was still a little mad at her for sending him those danged Quidditch Cup tickets and still too busy fussing with Aunt Abigail to say much else to her at the moment.

Lily fidgeted nervously. She wanted to ask him if he was one of those people's too, but she knew there were all these rules. What if he was a muggle? She'd get in so much trouble. She scratched her head, wondering for a moment what to do. Oh well, here's to attempting conversation with random strangers? "Where are you heading?" She asked. There was a faint American accent to his voice; he must have been living here for a while, but it was strange, the American.
((If I screwed up in assuming that Drew's losing his American accent just tell me?))

"I have full confidence that you two will be fine," Aunt Abigail was saying, with a touch of smuggness in her voice. She smiled plesantly at the girl wondering if her neice and nephew knew her. "But let's not forget, I am responsible for you two as long as your feet are on London soil."
"Look! Not touching soil!" Drew cried out, jumping up onto his luggage cart. "Just give me a big push and I'll make it to the train on my own!"
"You're being cheeky again, Andrew," Aunt Abigail answered back. "And you have a young lady speaking to you." Could this be the elusive Alhana that they all had yet to meet?
"It's just Lily," Drew answered, not ready to give up the fight with his Aunt. He did not need to be escorted through the barrier like some firstie.

Woah, okay. That answered her question. Sort of. He knew her so she figured that made him magical? She got very scared and wondered for a moment of how she had known him. She had a moment of panic for a moment where she thought he might be her boyfriend. The way he treated her though, she didn't think so. Did she have a boyfriend? Goodness, why didn't she know these things?
"Yes," Lily answered. "I'm Lily and you would be?" She said this most politely as she could be, because she hadn't known how well she had known them. She hoped they weren't former enemies or something. That would be awkward. But then again, he hadn't treated her like an enemy, so how exactly had she known him?

"And it seems to me that spending a summer with your friends has made you forget your manners," Aunt Abigail answered firmly. Any trace of humor had left her voice and she sounded too much like her younger sister for Drew's liking.
Still, he couldn't help but play along with Lily's game. "Vito Corleone. Nice to meet you," he answered enthusiastically, offering his hand to Lily. "Lily, this is our Great Aunt, Miss Abigail Becket. Aunt Abigail, Lillian Viteri," he finished, a bit more formally than was normal for him. Aunt Abigail wanted manners, he'd show her manners.

"Sonny maybe, but Vito?" she teased her brother before turning to the woman. "Aunt Abigail, We'll be fine," Allegra insisted, thinking it was silly to have the old woman walk them through. Aunt Abigail seemed to relent a little and Allegra took advantage of the situation to head for the barrier. "Come on, Lily! I'll race you!" she called out, already half way there. She was anxious to stake out a good compartment in the front before the firsties took them all.
