"You won't get mad at me, will you?" Arianna questioned, her eyes following Drew.

"Probably, but I'd be more mad if you didn't tell me," Drew answered, grinning at her from under the towel he was using to dry off his hair. He always thought it was silly to ask someone not to get mad before telling them what they weren't supposed to get mad at.

Arianna smiled crookedly back. Her eyes shifted to the floor before she spoke again.
"I feel kinda....selfish about it, though," she started. "I had something else for you...For your birthday, I mean. I....I got you a book. But then I started reading it and I had finish it before I gave it to you."

"Why would I get mad at that?" Drew asked, stopping his drying off to look at her. "And why would that be turning you into a lizard? You said it wasn't a curse..."

"Remember that day in the library?" Arianna questioned. She hesitated a moment to take in a breath. "I was drawing and you were looking through those books and making notes. I had a peek at the books to see what you were searching for and....I know it's prying and I shouldn't do that, but that's how I got the idea to get you the book."

Drew frowned. "You got me a copy of one of the books from the restricted section?" Drew asked, not sure how he felt about that. It was one thing to borrow dark arts books from the Slytherins, but to actually own one? Part of him revelled in the idea. The other part was worried Raynor would kill him when she found out. And then the first part told the second part to stop being stupid- Raynor wouldn't find out.
It was all a bit confusing.

"No," Arianna quickly shook her head. "Though I suppose they might put it in there if they had a copy. I don't know. It doesn't give you ALL the information you need to become an Animagi, but I thought it could help more than those other books you were looking through."

"But you read it first?" Drew asked. "That's why you keep getting these lizard things going on? You should probably get to the nurse and have her check it out or something."
Of course, that could get her into trouble, but she couldn't keep getting lizard eyes, could she?

"You think it's because I read it?" Arianna questioned, biting her lip. "I thought it might've been because I've been having dreams about trying it out and maybe...maybe I subconciously tried to change myself?"

Drew gave her an odd look. "It's pretty high level magic," he told her. "I really don't think it's something you could do sub-conciously. I mean, baby magic sure, but this? I don't think so."

"It's not even working properly, though," Arianna muttered. "Even when I...." she cut herself off then and glanced nervously up at Drew.

"Which is why I think you should see someone about it," Drew answered. He was trying his best not to fly off on her for attempting a spell beyond her level (which she had obviously done despite her claim that she had just read the book), but it was getting more difficult.

"I know," though she wished not to get in trouble and wanted to fight Drew's solution, Arianna agreed with him. "You're right."

Drew was about to really let her have it this time, but stopped short, blinking at her. "I what?" he asked, honestly thinking he had heard her wrong.

"You're right," Arianna repeated. She turned to the boy and looked him squarely in the eyes. It was difficult for her to do, though easier than what she had already done.
