Dan chuckled a bit before he replied to her, " That we really do have some wierd Grydd around here. Dancing in the Common Room well after nightfall, listening to some country music, " He kept adding on as the music started to slowly get softer, and he couldn't help but feel uneasy. What would someone think? But he didn't let that show and he smiled at Keagan, with her eyes closed and arms around his neck.

At Dan's mention of nightfall, Keagan suddenly realized how late it was getting. She also realized that she really didn't care. She felt...what was the word she wanted...safe? That fit, she supposed. "You don't think they might assume something was going on between us?" The words fell out of Keagan's mouth, but she really didn't think about what she was saying. "It's the music," she thought. "Making me say weird things."

What is going on between us? Dan thought to himself as he came to a stop with the music, his eyes gazing down slightly to Keagan. He wasn't too sure at all if something was going on, normally he was so aware of what he felt he would know by then. But as he looked into Keagan's eyes he couldn't help but wonder.. " What do you think? " Dan finally asked.

"I think...," Keagan started, without actually thinking. Suddenly, her eyes popped open and she found herself looking right back into Dan's eyes. Another blush found itself creeping up Keagan's neck. But she didn't look away. "I think that I like dancing like this. I think I like being around you. And I think I might...well...simply like you." With this last phrase, Keagan finally looked away, wondering how her words had gotten away with her. Talk about word vomit! Had she thought about any of the implications? Of course not. But now that it was said, what could she do?

Dan, not knowing what to say, turned his head slightly to the right, enabling him to look at Keagan better. A trace of a smile was on his lips and he nodded ever so slightly to her. " I think... I think that I might like you, too. " Dan finished off, not removing his hands from where they were even though the distinct sound of silence followed this statement from him.

The music had since stopped, and the silence was monotonous, but Dan's words rung in Keagan's head so that she couldn't sense any awkwardness. And there the pair stood, at the center of the common room, still in dancing position. A hesitant smile spread across her lips. "R-Really?" she inquired, not really sure where she was expected to go from there, or if there was an expectation at all. "You do? Think, anyway?"

" Yes, I do it quite often. " Dan said with a teasing smile to Keagan as she looked back at him. " And... yeah. I think so... " He sounded unsure but wanting to sound positive, " Yes. I think. Yes. " he finally decided with a defiant smile.

Keagan only blushed further when Dan teased, but she also added a cuff to the back of his head. As he continued talking, she listened, and she could sense the unsure tone in his voice, and the note of determined certainty as he finished his statement.
"It's OK if you're not sure...You don't need to feel obligated to make me feel better, if that's what you're thinking," she replied, scuffing her foot against the ground as she lowered her eyes to the square of floor space between them.

" I don't know what I want right now... But I do know that this seems to be working out for the both of us, " Dan said softly, looking to where Keagan's hands were and where his were. He looked to where she was looking and tried to meet her eyes. Dan was trying to get her to look up, so he could see her eyes, her smile.

"Indeed." Keagan smiled a small smile, though she still looked at the ground. Every time she became unsure of herself, Dan would say something nice and she'd feel alright again. It was a nice feeling. Leaning her head forward, she rested her forehead against the top of his shoulder.
"But what do we do now?" she muttered, turning her head against his shoulder to look at his face, though still avoiding his eyes.

" I don't know about you, " Dan said, pulling Keagan a little more towards him as he talked, " But I like this. I like you, Keagan. " He couldn't think too much so he said this and smiled, it was a genuine smile meant for her.
But his mind wandered back to what now? He wasn't too sure at all about the whole ' What now ' question.

Keagan could feel the distance between them shrink again as Dan spoke, but wasn't bothered by it this time. She was more distracted by his words. And that smile. That smile that she could tell was real, a smile directed simply at her. With barely a thought, Keagan moved through the small distance between them a placed a peck of a kiss on Dan's cheek.
An ordinary thing to do in many cultures, but it was a big deal to Keagan when she realized what she had done. She had never done anything like it before that moment.

Dan looked down to Keagan and couldn't help but think, Wow. He leaned in close to her, leaving no distance between them and kissed her on the lips. He could tell this might've been a big deal for her, but he didn't mind even if it was. He pulled away and looked back to her, his smile still in place. But he also needed to know if it was ok for him to have done so.

Keagan smiled into the kiss. She hadn't expected him to respond that way, but that didn't mean that she wasn't OK with it. When he pulled away, the smile remained. "That was nice," she said quietly, looking him in the eye again, her head laying back upon his shoulder again.

Dan laughed softly as Keagan said this, he wasn't.... used to this kind of affection it was wierd. But nice at the same time. The reduction in distance between them was something he didn't mind, he loved it when he didn't have to rush to do anything. When he didn't have a plan. Sometimes that was a downside, he didn't always have or want a plan.
