"Trust me, it coulda been worse," Finn replied, dismissing his father's unusual (although painfully usual to Finn) behaviour. Instead, he was more intrigued by Keagan's other comment? Rude? That definitely could have been worse too. "I was rude?" he repeated, "You wait until you have to spend more time with him and then see which one of us is rude. I should apologize for him now in advance." Finn rolled his eyes, ready to try and change the subject when he saw his dad was coming back over.
Oh, now what? Finn wondered in his head, knowing he'd get in more trouble if he said it out loud. His father was soon back in the picture and Finn flashed him another pathetic look. "You jumped outta the car s'darn fast you forgot this," his dad informed him, handing Finn the notebook he'd been scribbling in all summer and had become quite fond of. Finn took it from his dad, mumbling a thanks. Glancing sideways at Keagan, Finn sighed, trying to make up for before. He caught his dad before he turned to leave again and grumbled something to him. "Dad," he began, trying to sound as convincing as he could, "It'd be really great if you would stay with us until we got on the train." His father laughed loudly and wrapped his arm around Finn's shoulder, giving him a sharp and playful punch in the arm. "Sure I'll stay with you kids!" he agreed happily and Finn died a little inside, "Why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself, Miss Keagan."
Oh, here we go...

Keagan watched curiously as Mr. Kendrick approached again, carrying what looked like a well-worn notebook. She raised an eyebrow at Finn as his dad handed him the notebook, but since "Dad" seemed to be hanging around for a bit longer now that he'd been invited to stay, Keag refrained from inquiring about it. Instead, she laced the fingers her free right hand through the fingers of Finn's left, not really minding that Mr. Kendrick was right there.
"Well, what would you like to know, sir?" Keag inquired. "I'm from the United States, the tiny state of Rhode Island. I lived there all my life until my parents shipped me over here in third year."

After three weeks of intense shopping for supplies, packing and family barbeques, the day had finally come. All of Maddy’s friends came to her house before she set off to farewell her. Maddy had to admit that even though she was extremely excited she would miss her family and friends hugely. She was given a present that she had to open at Hogwarts and not before. Maddy packed this at the bottom of her bag hoping she wouldn’t see it or be tempted to open until she got there. As she pulled away from her house she stuck her head out the window and a small tear streamed down her face.
Finally as they drove into the car park at the station, Maddy squealed with excitement. She would see all her friends from Diagon Ally again! Maddyson’s dad pulled her trunk out of the back of the car and heaved it along while Eryn held Bindi, Maddy’s cat. As they came up to Platform 10 Maddy said to her family, ‘I want you guys to come with me onto the platform. Maybe you can meet my friends.’ Everyone nodded and followed Maddy through the barrier and onto the platform. Maddy hugged everyone and her dad said to her ‘Don’t let anything get you down while you’re at Hogwarts. Be friends with everyone and don’t hold grudges.’ Her mother, opening her mouth as if she was going to say something, hugged Maddy tightly. Maddy kissed her mother on the cheek and went and hugged Jordyn and Eryn. ‘I’ll miss you guys so much. Make sure you keep mum and dad happy.’ Maddy said sadly.
After saying her final goodbyes, she boarded the train and found a nice compartment to herself. Hopefully she would be joined by a few of her friends from Diagon Alley.

Finn saw his dad's eyes flick right down to where their hands were now linked and he smiled. Finn died a little more. At least it was out in the open now and he could only imagine the teasing he was going to get if Keagan left the two of them alone. Finn's grip on her hand tightened slightly, wanting now more than ever for her to just stay by his side.
"Really now?" his dad replied, "That is a tiny state, but definitely one of the more beautiful ones." He nodded and scratched his chin like he was thinking about something incredibly important and Finn closed his eyes, trying to wish his way out of here. Why did the train have to leave so late?
Finn suddenly realized how much his dad was talking and he had gone off on one of his "exploration" stories. "Mind you, I was only there a couple days, but Rhode Island has to be one of my favourite places in the States," he rambled off. Finn's expression turned into a scowl again and he reached down for his trunk to pull along with him as they walked. "Whereabouts are you from, exactly?" he continued.

Keagan squeezed Finn's hand right back. "I would have to agree, it is quite beautiful." Keagan smiled as she thought about it, and for a moment she regretted now having visited the country more often this summer. Then again, she was schooled in the middle of nowhere for nine months out of the year, so spending time in that environment on vacation hadn't really occurred to her.
"Providence," Keagan replied to Mr. Kendrick's last question. "Right in the middle of the city, pretty much. We have a lovely brownstone down there."

The day was finally here. Even the rainy cold whether couldn't put out the burning fire deep inside Jethro's heart. A grin had stayed firmly on the boys face since they hopped into the family car that morning, and was still there once he jumped out of the car this very moment. Pulling out his belongings that Jet was to take to Hogwarts, he pulled them across to the Brick wall between Nine and Ten, and waited for his hurrying family. Today the boy was dressed in warm muggle gear, a pair of faded jeans, with random holes here and there, a red polo shirt with top button's undone with a red collar and finally a darkish gray jacket that was long across his hands, and undone at the front. Perfect for Jethro.
There, walking briskly up to the boy was Lyn, Paul, Craig and Samuel Stevens. They all had strong confident smiles on their faces, and stood in a rough line behind Jethro, all looking at the wall. He let go of his trunk, and placed Pablo's cage on the wet ground, his small backpack still on his back. Walking up to his dad, Jet hugged him tightly, getting a pat-on-the-back for good luck, and a few words of safety. Next Jethro walked over to his older brother, and watched the teenager crouch down and fumble with something in his pocket, bringing out a leather box. Craig opened the box, and pulled out a hard silver band, that slipped perfectly over Jethro's wrist. It was a plain shimmering band, nothing more, but the youth loved it, and the silver shone on his tanned skin. "Don't loose that now," the older brother said, smiling. Jet hugged him, before being his hair being scuffed, and went over to his mum. "Take care of yourself, honey." she said, a small tear steaming down her damp cheek. "I will mum, love you." he said with a kiss on her cheek, before following his Grandfather into the brick wall.
At last! Jet thought, his grin still firm and bright. "Alright Jethro, now just a quick run down. Board the train, get changed into your robes when they say so. Be nice to other students, respect the teacher and prefects. But most of all, have fun my lad!" Samuel said beaming and patting Jethro on the back. The 11-year-old grinned, before passing other students, and making his way onto the train, passing a girl who looked unknowingly what to do. As Jethro passes compartments with people in them, he passed one with Brax and a few of the boy's friends, shooting him a smile, but walking on.
Soon enough, the Jethro came to a compartment with only a lone girl sitting in it, and who else was it but Maddy. Jet's grinned didn't flicker for a second, as he pushed open the door and greeted the girl with "Hey Maddy! Do you mind if I join you?" he pushed up his luggage, and placed his great black owl carefully up into the luggage rack, before taking off his backpack and taking the seat across from Maddy. His mind was buzzing with thoughts' about new friends, Hogwarts, magic, and probably most of all, Summer. He blue eyes wouldn't ever forget the first sight he had seen of her, and was glad that miserable day like today had made them meet.

"Providence!" Finn's father repeated, "Lovely city. There for the afternoon. Seems fitting that a pretty girl would come out of such a beautiful place. Never thought my Finnegan would catch the eye of such a lady." Finn's face dropped completely and his head snapped to the side and he stared, open-mouthed, at his father.
"Dad!" Finn snapped angrily and incredulously, only to be laughed at again. His dad slapped his shoulder playfully again, nearly knocking Finn over from the force of it. He laughed again and Finn realized they were being stared at now. Closing his eyes, Finn pinched the bridge of his nose right near his eyes as he felt another headache coming on.
"Oh, Finnegan, I'm just playin'!" his dad responded with, winking at Keagan, "He's quite the catch, you know. Takes after his old man." Finn was about ready to lose it. He turned and looked at Keagan, distress clearly written across his face, as well as an expression that said "See what I mean?!?!?!?", the extra exclamation and question marks were a big part of the expression too. If Finn had been able to yell it, it would have been loud like it was in his head. "What did I tell you?" Finn whispered to Keagan, his eyes unable to hide the pleading he was also doing in his head. Was it 11:00 yet?

Keagan blushed again, this one just vibrant enough to perhaps be visible on top of the tan. It took her a few moments to form a response, and by the time she did, Finn was already giving her a distressed look. "I'm not all that special, and I consider myself the lucky one."
Glancing at Finn, she decided it would probably be best to have some mercy and let him off the hook, for she was sure he already had enough material to talk her ear off for the entire train ride if she'd let him. They were at the steps to the train, anyway.
"We should get you settled, don't you think, Finnegan?" Keagan asked, willing to run the risk of Finn's scorn in order to amuse the father. Turning her attention back to Mr. Kendrick, she smiled. "It's always a smart idea to get settled at least a few minutes before the train departs, just to make sure you have everything and a compartment of your own. It was my pleasure to meet you, though, Mr. Kendrick."

While Maddy was alone in the compartment she got out all the sweets that her parents bought her. Knowing that most of her friends, grew up in the muggle world, they would be familar to these chocolates. There were Mars Bars, Snickers and Picnics as well as Lemon Sherbies and Clinkers. Oh what a feast. Maddy's parents made her a caeser salad and an egg sandwich for her to eat for lunch. SHe had made her parents promise that they would send her a box of her favourite chocolates whenever Maddy sent an owl to them. Maddy took her hair out again and put it up into a high ponytail, as she was bored stupid.
After sitting for a while, Maddy heard a familar voice. It was Jethro, one of the boys she had met on her trip to DIagon Alley. 'Of course!'Maddy exclaimed. She moved all her stuff onto the seat she was sitting on. Her cat let out a sad meow as Maddy moved her to make room for her friends. 'So, how was your summer?'Maddy asked. 'Was it good?'

"And she's modest," Finn's dad pointed out before nudging him again, "She's a keeper, Finny." "Oh my God, I want to die," Finn muttered to no one except himself. The one time he doesn't get called Finnegan, it's Finny. Finn even ignored being called 'Finnegan' by Keag because he was too busy glaring at his father, who didn't seem to really care that Finn was about to throw himself under the train.
"The pleasure was all mine, my dear," Finn's father replied, with a bow, "And please, call me David." Finn had enough. Gently he nudged Keagan onto the train and smiled at her. "I'll be on in a second," he told her before steering his dad away from the train and toward the wall.
"What is wrong with you?!" Finn hissed when they were away from Keagan, "Stop making friends with my friends! It's creepy!" David put his hand on Finn's shoulder and flashed him a smile. "You know I'm kidding, Finnegan," he told him with a wink before pulling him in for a hug, "Give us a squidge, and then go and get with your girlfriend." Finn pulled away from him, still scowling but unable to keep the grin off his face. "I'll talk to you soon, Muggle man," Finn chuckled before turning and heading toward the train, dragging his feet pathetically as he neared Keagan. "Save me," he muttered as he climbed aboard the train behind her, notebook still in hand.

Jethro's grinned was still strong, and his mouth wasn't even sore at this time. He settled back onto the seat, and gazed out the rain-wet window, hoping for a glimpse of Summer he hadn't seen yet. Taking his thought back to where he was however, Jethro smirked, finally changing his expression and said "It was awesome, better than almost any summer I've had," Jet looked down at his wrist with the sterling silver band on it before returning his eyes to Maddy and saying "Besides surfing in Australia that is." a wink flicked through eye as warmth crept slowly into his body.
"What about you Maddy, I know i saw you at Diagon Ally a few times, and then at the Orientation, but what else have you been up to? Have you seen Sally lately?" Jethro then burst out saying, a hyper tone full and fluent in his young voice. A toothy, gleaming grin was now on his face again, the boy was all smiles. He breathed in deeply, smelling the fresh scent of rain and old pleasant furniture. He was finally on his way to Hogwarts.

Keagan knew she would never let herself call Mr. Kendrick "David." She would be more comfortable calling him "Dad," like Finn did, and that was awkward enough in itself. The Gryffindor gave a subtle curtsy before boarding the train with a roll of her eyes at Finn's nudge. She couldn't help but think that Finn meeting her parents in this same situation would be so much worse.
By herself, Keagan actually boarded the train all the way and turned a corner before leaning against the wall and waiting for Finn. She planned to get both the Ravenclaw and his trunk stashed in her own compartment before she had to head off for a prefect's meeting in a different compartment. She figured such a meeting wouldn't take too long, though, and then the pair could catch up on all the things they had left out of their letters.
"Save you from what?" Keagan asked sarcastically, looking around the corner from where she leaned. "I think you're fine."

"As is the pleasure to meet you too, Felicity." the girl smiled at her new student. But Matty's green eyes fell over the train again, and she was drawn to get on it. "Sorry guys, i hafta meet up with my boyfriend and a few other people, but I'll see you both later okay?" she shot a smile to both Mike and Felicity, and waving them off and picking up her stuff. Mike was pretty much like an older brother to her, in a way, like most of the Hufflepuff crew was like a second family to her, so she didn't feel too bad about walking off and leaving him there, after all he had someone to talk to, and she would probably meet up with him on the train again that day. "See you at the feast Mike." the Huffle ended, before walking up to quickly meet with Seanna and Krissy.
Catching the shine of a badge on Krissy's shirt, Matty almost stopped dead in her tracks. The youth hurried up beside the eldest and said "Krissy! You got head girl! Good on you!" a grin was firm on her face, but she walked slowly past the girls, turning back to face them. "I'll meet up with you both later, sorry i hafta meet some people. See ya Krissy, Seanna!" Matty called out and waved to them both. Finally, she spotted two boys over from where she was.
Hurrying across to the other side of the station ( it seemed the girl was doing allot of crossing the platform) and reached the two. "Hey Guys!" the Huffle said grinning, and placing down her trunk with the group, before walking over to Jynx and placing her arm around his waist. "Hey," she said, smiling at her boyfriend, and then looked to the others. Matty hadn't actually ever met. "Hi, I'm Matty Wentworth, a friend of Jack's, nice to meet you." she said placing out her hand to the people who were obviously Jack's parents. She knew this because Matty and her father had met Jynxs entire family one great Christmas.

Mike smiled as Matty hugged him, she was like a sister to him and for that he was thankful. But no sooner was she there she had walked off again in the general direction of Krissy and Seanna, so Mike turned back to Felicity and smiled softly.
"Do you want to come find a compartment?"
He asked her as he place Blitz back on top of his trunk and pulled out his wand a levitating the trunk inches above the ground.

Oliver West sat alone in the compartment, his long legs swinging and a slight smile across his lips. He was greatly looking forward to the new year, and wondered what it had in store for him. He was considering trying out for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. There were a few Chaser spots open, so he thought he'd give it a try. Despite being Muggleborn, Oliver frequently visited his Wizarding friends and played Quidditch with them. He had his own racing broom as well, a slightly used, but trusty old Cleansweep 13.
He had nabbed a compartment early, as usual, because he didn't like asking people if he could sit with them. If he had his own compartment, people could come sit by him if they wanted to. And if they didn't want to, that suited Oliver just fine. His owl, Gawain, ruffled his feathers from inside his cage. He was a handsome, large, chocolate brown, Great Horned Owl. Gawain spun his head away from the back of the luggage rack to peer somewhat irritably down at him with his large, amber eyes.
