Arianna cocked her head to the side and lifted an eyebrow at Drew.
"You really want me to do that?" she asked cautiously. At one point she had gotten the feeling it was just an annoyance he didn't want to put up with. The fact that the boys had put up their security system only furthered her suspicions that she had been right.

"Well..." he started, thinking of all of the sleep he had lost due to Ari's nighttime visits. Not to mention the trouble he had had with Alhana when he told her about them. "Well... maybe you can save more of them for the daytime?"

"I'll try," Arianna promised, adding in a small nod. "But...What about you? What if you have more nightmares?"
She bit her lip to refrain from suggesting that she come sing to him. It had been fine the last few nights, but he might now think that only little kids were allowed to be sung to.

"I'll be okay," he answered sheepishly, giving her a small smile and a shrug. There really wasn't much either of them could do about the nightmares at this point. They would just have to run their course like always.

"Yeah," Arianna stretched her legs out in front of her. Her crepes were getting cold, but she still dared another bite.
"I can't guarantee that I won't come check on you though," she spoke quietly, her own shoulders lifting in a shrug. "Some nights I just get this feeling and I can't sleep until I've taken care of things."

"Yeah... I know that feeling," he answered, playing with his food again. "You remember that night at camp I woke you up? That's what I was doing... Sometimes I stand at the bottom of the girls steps and try to listen for you guys sleeping." He looked over at her and shrugged, emabasrassed that he had let that slip.

"Really?" Arianna turned her head to the boy, one eyebrow slightly raised. She had never known he had cared that much for them that he had to check up on them. "I...I'm sorry I ever doubted you. I know you care, but....You have to check up on us. We...we're okay."

"I know..." Drew said slowly. "But I can usually sleep better if I make sure, you know?" He gave up trying to eat and nervously played with the sleeves of his sweatshirt instead.

"Yeah. I do," Arianna replied with a nod of her head. She certainly didn't know what she would do if there was no way to find out that Drew and Allegra and all her other friends were okay. Especially when she got those feelings that something was wrong. "I do."

Drew stayed quiet for a while, lost in his own thoughts.
"I miss her..." he finally said, barely above a whisper. On really bad nights, he would slip out of Ravenclaw tower and try to convince the Fat Lady to let him check on Alhana. Even when he knew the password (which was rare... she seemed to know exactly when Drew had figured it out and would change it the next day), she'd put up a fuss. Most nights she would agree to check on the Gryffindor girls herself, knowing he'd bug her until she did. It wasn't an ideal situation for Drew, but it had to do.
Now, he couldn't even do that.

"I know," Arianna's head bobbed in a short nod. Well did she know the feeling and how bad it sucked to be in the position. It had crossed her mind that at least she was writing to him. But that wouldn't help the situation any. Neither would telling him that things would get better. She certainly hadn't believed it.

There was a long silence, during which Drew fiddled with his fingers. When he finally looked over at her, he was smiling. It was small, but it was still a smile. "Am I hopeless?" he asked, knowing he wasn't, but still feeling like it.

"Very," Arianna replied, sticking her tongue out imediately to show she was teasing. Pulling the licker back in, she shook her head.
"Nah," she replied, poking again at her crepes. "Heck, I used to think I was, but look at me now. I'm still here to bother you, aren't I?"

"That's supposed to make me feel better?" Drew asked wryly, raising an eyebrow at her. He gave a short laugh and put an arm around her, squeezing her tightly to him. "I'm glad you're here."

"Me, too," Arianna agreed, pulling an arm around the boy in return. Not only was she glad she had decided to stay here, at school, with her friends, but she was also glad to be here, with Drew. It might not be fun to hang around and listen to someone cry or yell at you in frustration over something you hadn't done, but it was certainly well worth it.
"You ready to make cookies?" she asked after another moment's silence as she peered up at Drew. "We can do whatever you want."
