"I think it's the powder," Drew answered, pulling out a cookbook and thumbing through it for the cookie recipies. "But even though the powder sounds like the better option, I keep feeling like we should use the soda."

Arianna peered over Drew's elbow (his shoulder was way too high for her) to see if she could help figure it out. She's always had a recipe to follow and couldn't remember which way to go at this point.
"Or do we use both?" she asked, remembering that some recipes called for equal measures of baking powder AND baking soda.

"Where's the dang wrapper the chips came in?" Drew asked, knowing it would be on the package. "Heck, we need the recipie. We should be able to find it here someplace, right?"

"Right...there," Arianna pointed reached her arm across the book and pointed to the bag of chocolate chips that lay on on the counter on his other side. "But I thought we were going for butterscotch. You didn't change your mind, did you?"

"Butterscotch chips come in a bag too..." Drew answered, getting confused. "Besides, it would be the same recipie anyway, wouldn't it?" For all he knew, maybe the butterscotch messed up the recipie.

"It should be," Arianna replied, though she honestly didn't know. "But you have to remember where we are. One thought and we could be throwing M and Ms and marshmallows in here instead of chips."

"That wouldn't be so bad," Drew answered, though he wasn't surprised when the candies and marshmallows didn't appear. He really had his heart set on butterscotch. He wasn't even sure why. He usually didn't like the stuff.

"That actually sounds good, doesn't it?" Arianna chuckled slightly. On a day like today, she wouldn't care what was thrown into the batter. She'd probably eat it anyway.
Deciding they should get on with their cookie-making, the girl reached around Drew and grabbed the bag of butterscotch chips and flipped it over. Sure enough there was a recipe there. It called for smaller amounts of the stuff they'd already thrown in, but Arianna was sure they could fix it to work.
"This one calls for soda," she read aloud. "A teaspoon should do it I think."

Drew grinned back, impressed with himself that he had known deep down that it wasn't the powder they were supposed to use. Not that anyone but he would care... ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

"You're instincts were right," Arianna poked Drew in the side as she reached for the baking powder. Grabbing the spoon, she measured out a teaspoon and poored it in. "Good thing we didn't just toss them both in."
