"You know, it was, but it feels like there's something blocking the heat from me, y'know?" Her head still turned to wards Emeric, Matty raised one of her hands, stroking her chin lightly, as if she was taking in his comment. After a moment the girl shook her head, shrugging slightly as she dropped her hand again. "Can't say I have any idea whatcha talkin' about, Em. You must be going crazy or something." the remarked playfully. As she continued to grin at the boy, the girl felt his arms fall around her waist, and she made the effort to pick up his hands with her own, lacing them so that her palms were over the back of his hands.
Even though the warmth of the fire wouldn't really be reaching him, Matty didn't think he would be unbearably cold. She would probably provide some heat, especially if he was hugging her. Kind of, anyway. For a moment, the teenager's eyes darted back to the fire, it's glowing red flamed contrasting greatly to her lush green eyes. The girl would have never thought that when Em sent her an owl that morning, that they would have gone swimming, and sat by a fire the following night. As she had realized before, the girl never underestimated what could happen when she was with him. Eventually, Matty's eyes wandered back to looking over her shoulder at him, smiling, both because of their current teasing manor, and the fact that she was with him tonight.

[Page Six! wahoo!]
Em's face reflected his amusement on the matter, his eyes shining with laughter and his easy going grin still on his face as he watched Matty stroke her chin in thought. He took her comment into consideration, or rather, he pretended to, turning his head to the side, looking out to the fire and saying out loud, " I think you might be right. Can't see why I wouldn't be able to feel the fire, I mean it's right there. " He lifted his shoulders up into a small shrug as Matty laced her fingers with his, making him feel that much closer to her both physically and mentally. Although considering that they had just spent most of the evening with one another it wasn't a bit shock that he felt close to Matty, it had been the most fun he had had in a long time and he planned on repeating it some time soon. Not the same thing necessarily, but spending some more time with Matty.
He had almost forgotten that the original tease had been about being warm, and he was pretty positive that warmth wouldn't be an issue with Matty sitting on his lap, his arms wrapped around her as well. As he thought all of this over, Em was stuck wondering what time it was. He turned his head, forgetting that he wasn't in a normal room, to look for a clock. Not spotting any amongst the sand and dark sky, he turned back to Matty, asking, " Have any idea what time it is? " He wasn't afraid of being out after curfew, but if they were sneaking back down to the dungeons could be a potential problem. Em didn't have the ability to be able to estimate time very well, so he had no idea how much time had passed by. It could have been an hour, it could have been three hours, he didn't know because he had been enjoying himself too much to actually be paying attention.

( "You're suck a dork." ;] // congrats on 200, btw :] )
As random and peculiar as their relationship had started off, a thought similar occurred in Matty's head. The girl pondered on the question for a while in her off-conscious thoughts. How long had they actually been together? Since late November, till late January, that was two months, leading onto three. Two months of secret meetings, disguised notes to one another, brief knowing smiles, and hours spent together when they finally got to meet up. Honestly, back in November, the Hufflepuff wasn't sure just how long they could last. Sure, two months wasn't an extremely long time, but it was a good mile stone for a relationship that was based on keeping it secret. This, however, got the girl to wondering how long they could last. Matty dearly hoped that it would be longer than shorter. As Em spoke though, her thoughts focused entirely back on him. Shrugging shortly, the girl cast her gaze back to the fire, and back to him.
"Hmm, maybe you're like, the Ice Prince or something. Unable to feel warmth from fire, or anything likewise." she suggested, her tone appearing to be dead serious, but her expression and smile saying otherwise. The girl's eyes wandered around a bit, as she noticed the Slytherin looking around. As he turned back to her, the girl realized why he had been looking around, as his question explained so. Matty took another quick glance around before slowly shaking her head. "I'm not too sure, but I think it would be about Nine. Give or take half an hour." she replied. It was a good question, though. How long had they been here, or, with each other this evening in general? Matty didn't have a problem about curfew, heck, it wouldn't be the first time she'd been out of bed at such a time, but she was curious, like Em.

[woah dream big xD coming from the girl with over 2,000, it's not much but thanks]
It wasn't very often that Em felt so... light, and floating-like. As he thought about this he couldn't help but look at Matty in an amazed sort of way, wondering how she had brought this side of him out. When he had first met Matty he had been a bit of a jerk, distant and not very willing to let anyone, especially her, get too close. Because if people get close to you, you never know exactly what they're thinking about. He had been hesitant to even talk to her except to practically yell at her for running into him, which in the grand scheme of things he guessed was good otherwise he wouldn't have talked to Matty and probably would have had to wait until school began to know her. He didn't really think that he would be with Matty now if they hadn't run into one another, quite literally. She probably would have been one of those girls he and Jax poked fun at lightly during lessons. He thought back to what Jax had asked him, something along the lines of ' So you like the giggling girls, then? '
Apparently he did, very much so at that. But that wasn't just what Matty was, she meant more to him that he wanted to admit to, but he knew it was true. He grinned, shaking his head in shame at what she was saying. He pulled one of his hands out from hers and placed it over his chest where his heart lay, saying, " Ouch. I'd like to think I'm not completely cold. " He laughed softly, putting his hand back with Matty's over top of it, their fingers laced nicely together. He was joking just as much as she was, and at first it had been hard to not laugh at her serious voice, although her smile clearly betrayed it. " About nine? " He repeated, realizing they had only spent a couple of hours with one another. " Feels like forever. " He muttered, not thinking that the statement could be taken in both a good way as well as a bad way as well.

( it's a start. gosh, boy ;P )
The teenager couldn't help but think how nice it felt to be this close to Em. More so mentally and emotionally, than physically, though his affection was appreciated by the girl. In the past, the girl could safely assume, that neither of them would have even dreamed, nor dreaded a day when they would be together, acting like they were. And to further prove the fact that this must be happening for, well, some reason or another, it had taken both of them months of slowly getting comfortable and getting to know each other. After their day at Diagon, the two had only seen each other in classes, and Hogsmeade was the real turning point for the two. Matty was especially glad that she was honestly understanding him how. Which was the core reason why they had gotten together in the girl place... because the teenager was beginning to understand Emeric, like not allot of people did.
"Ouch. I'd like to think I'm not completely cold." Matty couldn't help but laugh softly again, shaking her head at his attempt to play sorrow. The girl felt his hand entwine back with hers, and she replied to his comment shortly after. "Well, I suppose you couldn't be all cold. After all, then you might die, and we wouldn't want that, would we?" she stated, her eyes both mysterious and playful as they looked into Em's own brown ones. His comment about it only being nine, and then a further mumbled didn't make her smile falter, though for some it may have. "Time flies when you're having fun, eh." she said simply.

[ ] Despite the fact that it was only around nine o'clock, not that late by anyone's standards, Em was kind of tired. It had been a long day, full of lessons and lugging around his books. It had also been filled with surfing lessons (ha) and swimming as well. He didn't really want to feel tired, but there was a point when his body just started to slow down. He did his best not to look tired, though, because he didn't necessarily want to have to leave just quite yet. Besides, he would walk Matty back to the Hufflepuff house entrance way as it was on the way to the Slytherin one. That would probably wake him up a bit, so he didn't mind being a slight bit drowsy at that exact moment. Em smiled slightly, ' After all, then you might die, and we wouldn't want that, would we? ' That would probably be very high on his list of things he didn't want to do, second to wearing matching ' Troy Boy 1 & 2 ' shirts with his brother. " No, wouldn't want that. Who else would you be able to tease? " He said to her with a light smirk. He was sure Matty joked with lots of people as most did, but it was still funny to say. He gave her a cheeky grin and nodded his head, " Yeah, I guess it does. Or it drags on. 'Cause you don't want it to end. " He countered, which was how he saw it originally. Em supposed his time spent with Matty had both flown by and seemed like it lasted forever. It was good, though and he didn't mind it too much. " Hm.. I'm tired. " He said after breathing in deeply to prevent a yawn.

( : D )
When the Slytherin boy commented on Matty having to find someone else to tease if he were to die. She hated the thought of that seriously happening, but they were only kidding around, as per usual. She seemed to consider his question for a moment before finally replying. "I'm sure I could find another poor soul to pick on. No doubt about that." she said confidently, still in a teasing matter though. There actually weren't' that many people, in general, that Matty was this comfortable with. Also due to the fact that she could come out of each teasing session with Em just fine, no feelings dinted or slashed. Well, that and their teasing was usually mingled with flirting, which Matty defiantly didn't do with other guys.
As the boy replied to her statement about time flying, she nodded in agreement. He had a point there. The time they spent together was both fast-flying, and a good amount of time together. They could be considered to contrast each other entierly... but it this case, what Em had said was rather fitting. After mentioning that he was tired, the girl noticed him breath deeply, and smiled softly. "Bit past your bed time, Em?" she asked him playfully, before gently letting go of his hands, and moving to the place next to the boy. Matty sat close to him, letting her head rest softly on his shoulder, and taking his hand closest to hers ones again. Now, finally, they could both see, and feel the warmth and beauty of the fire.

The joking was fine with Em, because really, what were the chances that he would just... die? It would certainly be out of the blue, because the most dangerous things he's ever attempted to do would be things like stupid tricks while flying on his broomstick. Nothing else all that dangerous came to mind, besides occasionally getting on the wrong side of his father, which he was always quick to remedy, thus eliminating the danger factor. It was quite simple for the boy, and he allowed himself to smile and laugh with Matty, because he didn't really want to do much of anything else. It was much easier to joke with her than some of his friends. " Oh yeah? I don't think they would be as fun as me, though. I mean, really. " He said in a way that would convey him trying to convince her of it. Whether or not she believed his joke was a small matter, as he just wanted to keep the playful banter going between them.
He smile a small crooked smile at Matts as she teased him about it being past his bed time, a small reminder to him that Matty was older than he was. Not by much of course, a year or so give or take a few months, but it was still a funny little reminder to him that he was with an older girl. Not that she went to bed any earlier than him or that he knew when she went to bed, but still... " Oh yeah. I was supposed to be in bed by eight. Oops. " He said with a small laugh. Usually he went to bed around eleven and got up at six the next morning, but the day had been particularly long and he was feeling a bit drowsy. He glanced to Matty as she moved to sit next to him, taking his hand in hers as she did so. He snuggled in close, feeling the warmth from both the fire in front of him and her body next to his.

"Oh yeah? I don't think they would be as fun as me, though. I mean, really." The teenager thought for a second again, and she hummed uncertainly. "I'm not too sure about that. But I guess theres no one else that looks at cute as you do when you pout. And defiantly no one else with a miniature brother to match." Matty confessed, her smiled still in the teasing range. She did, after all, have to admit that even when Em did pout, not that he usually did seriously, it was rather cute. However in the way she had just said it then, it was more of a playful comment than an straight forward comment. A mix of the two, really.
When the Slytherin remarked to her comment about being past his bed time, she simply grinned in reply at first. "I knew it. Now I'm going to get in trouble if they find out I've been keeping you up. Though," Matty took a moment to think of something else to add. "I suppose we could always say I was tutoring you? After all, you were getting free surf lessons." she said with a small laugh in her voice. Now that she had brought up the idea, the Hufflepuff actually recognized it as that of a practical one. Kind of, anyway. If the day ever came that they did have to answer to where they had been, and why they were together... then Matty supposed that they could always slot in that they had been studying. He was good at some subjects she wasn't, and vice versa. Sure, it probably wasn't the best excuse, but possibly enough to convince them, and let other suspicions die down. It was always a back up, not that she thought they would necessarily needed it. After all, the two had managed for two months, and the girl was sure they would in the future.
Sitting next to Em now made her feel yet closer to him. Matty felt as if nothing could go wrong at this moment, nothing could harm her, or them rather. Everything was perfect right at this moment.

As strange as it was, Em was thinking of weird and random ways to die. Getting attacked by fire crabs, which the fourth and fifth years had just had a lesson on in Care of Magical Creatures class, ranked up pretty high. He was unsure why he was still thinking about it, but figured it was just because he was looking into the fire which reminded him of the fire crabs in the first place. He turned his attention, though, back to Matty when she started talking once again. He smiled slightly... thinking it was slightly amusing that she thought he looked cute when he pouted, which was really what he was going for when he pouted at the fifth year. As for the miniature brother to match Em shook his head with a laugh. " Well thanks... I think. " He said, with a small shrug of his shoulders. " You never know, some people could have their own miniature brothers running around. " He offered up, thinking it was possibly true. He didn't really know if any of his friends had younger siblings, but it was likely that some of them did.
Talking about bed times made Em feel a little childish, but he didn't really mind it too much. " 'course they'd blame you, you're older. " He said this in a teasing manner, bringing up the age thing with them while a smile was still on his face. If anything, age had been one of the very very small issues in the two's forming of the relationship.
He snickered slightly at the mention of the ' free surf lessons. ' He turned his head to look at the Hufflepuff girl before facing front once again and looking to the fire as he talked. " That's true. This has been an educational event, after all. " He had learned plenty of things. He had learned her favorite color, where she lived outside of school, what she did in her spare time, and things like that. It was important to know these things and he suddenly found himself asking, " What's your favorite drink? "

As Em mentioned about other students having their own little brothers running around, another odd image came to mind. Matty imagined a whole arm of little brothers, almost identical to their older brother, all in matching shirts. Honestly, it kind of creeped her out a little. The daunting thought of so many miniature brothers was freaky, though the Hufflepuff could certainly handle one like Jonathan. And with that, another random thought occurred. Allot of people thought of the firsties to be the babies, which they were, but in fact they were 11, soon to be twelve. Half of the boys could be close to the size of Em, give or take a few inches.
As the teenager continued to grin back at the boy, she shrugged again. "None with matching tee shirts, though." she continued to tease. After this Matty would probably let the whole 'Troy Boy' thing die down for a bit. Though surely it would be brought back up some time or another, just like the whole cat thing had been brought up again. Returning from her thoughts back to that day, the teen heard Emeric mention that she would be blamed for being older. "I'm such a bad influence, I know. First daring you into the Shrieking Shack, then nearly getting us killed by a cat. And now depriving you of sleep. Why, oh why do you put up with me, Em?" she tagged along, however the mischievous smile still on her face.
Giving a small successful nod when the boy acknowledged that her surf lessons had been 'educational', Matty laughed lightly. It wasn't entirely true, but nor was it a lie. "Of course, all my lessons are educational in some way or another." the girl said as she turned her head to the boy, rolling her eyes playfully. When he further asked the girl about her favorite drink, it didn't take long for Matty to answer. "Mango smoothies. Or dark grape juice. How about you?" she asked him, her head still turned to wards Em.

The Slytherin knew that Tal didn’t have any siblings, and he wasn’t sure about any of his other friends. For all he knew they had a zoo at home, tons and tons of siblings running around. He hoped not, because he didn’t want to wish that one anyone. For him, it was bad enough to have one sibling and he really couldn’t imagine having a lot of brothers or sister. He knew that a little sister would be a nightmare, raised the way Em had been he knew it would be true. Therefor he was kind of thankful that he had a younger brother instead.
He shuddered at the mention of the dreaded t-shirts. She was trying to kill him, surely. He grinned once he was done, though, shaking his head at her antics. “ You never know. Maybe some of them also have strange girlfriends who want to see them and their younger brothers in matching t-shirts? “ He said, sweeping his thumb under the girls chin as he said girlfriend. He let his hand fall back to its former place with a small smile, slightly mischievous smile. He was almost positive that no one else’s girlfriend would think of something as random or as strange as that, but still, he liked to tease her. Matty was original, to say the least, and always fun to be around for Em.
At the mention of the cat incident Emeric rolled his eyes, giving a put out look. Must she bring up the cat thing? He sighed, pretending to be annoyed that she would bring it up again when really, he probably found it just as funny as she did. “ I put up with you… because… “ He trailed off again, pretending to look like he was thinking of reasons he ‘ put up with her. ‘ “ Huh. Can’t think of anything. “ ’ Of course, all my lessons are educational in some way or another. ‘ He laughed shortly at this, finding it funny that ‘ all her lessons ‘ would be educational for him. Maybe there was something to that? “ You might be on to something. I’m still learning. “ He mentioned with a grin. He thought of what his favorite drink was and shrugged his shoulders, answering, “ I’m not really picky, butterbeer, water, wine. “ The last answer had been a bit of a jest. “ Never had a mango smoothie. “

In many ways, Matty was glad that she had an older brother. Having an older sister could go either way, really. If she was cool, calm and collected, then the siblings would probably get along. But if she was one of those 'oh my gosh, i broke a nail' kind of girls... well, the teenager wouldn't be able to cope. She didn't think her father, or Ellie for that matter, would have ever raised a child to be like that, but you never knew. The bad thing about Jamie being older than her was the fact that he adored trying to boss her about, and tease her as siblings would. It didn't bother her that much when she was home, though it did get on her nerves sometimes. And, well, having a little brother probably would be cool, in some way or another. But who knew, right?
Because they were sitting so close, Matty felt as Em shuddered slightly after she had mentioned the matching tees. Still smiling her playful smile, the teenager couldn't help herself. She felt him sweet her chin lightly as he mentioned 'girlfriend' which was one of the reasons she was smiling such. "Way to ruin my dream. Now I have to think of a new franchise business to start." the teenager said with a small roll of her eyes. The whole cat incident was proving to be rather amusing since the day, even though it was extremely embarrassing. To think Matty had nearly shot through the roof at that point, let alone the fact that she practically threw herself into Emeric out of fear. If they weren't together now, though, Matty probably would have never spoken of it again. But she knew that Em and herself both got a kick out of it, which was a good enough reason. When the boy finally settled on not being able to find a reason to put up with her, she nudged him in the side lightly, muttering "Oi." as a protest. As he agreed to her 'lessons' being 'educational' the girl nodded. "As long as you practice." Matty said in a joking tone.
"I’m not really picky, butterbeer, water, wine." Raising her eye brows at the boy, the girl continued to look at him with a small grin. She knew he was joking, but she wasn't letting it slide yet. "Ah, now who's the irresponsible one?" she suggest, with a quizzical look at him. As he mentioned never having a mango smoothie, Matty made a mental note to make Em one sometime, and she said the same thought aloud. "I'll hafta make you one sometime, then. But no slipping fire whiskey into it while I'm not looking." she teased, looking from the fire back up to him.

Thinking about siblings and all just reminded Em that he had to write back to his ten year old brother sometime soon. Although the younger Troy's handwriting was terrible and annoyingly difficult to read, Em made the attempt at reading the letters anyway. He didn't mind keeping up correspondence, it gave the Slytherin boy an idea of what was really going on at home without the long letters from his mother and the almost non-existent ones from his father. Despite the small fact that his younger brother was irritating most of the time, he was pretty observant for being only ten and didn't mind telling Emeric what was on his mind about things.
He thought back to what she said about being a bad influence. If she hadn't dared him to go into the shrieking shack he was sure they would never be together at all, and that they wouldn't have admitted to liking one another. If they hadn't been so creeped out by just a cat then Em wouldn't have known how nice it was to have her close to him, even if he was scared by something as stupidly normal as a cat. And if she hadn't been depriving him of his sleep then he wouldn't be able to spend time with her. So all in all, he really couldn't complain. He grinned sheepishly as she accused him of ruining her dream or something of the like. " Oh yeah. Siblings matching shirts are all the rage. 'Cept I don't think they're very tasteful. " He scrunched up his nose slightly to show her his opinion on the matter.
His look of distaste disappeared altogether as she nudged him, protesting the fact that he couldn't think of any reasons why he put up with her. He poked her leg lightly in response to the nudge, saying, " Oh, fine. I guess I could think of a few... maybe... Practice makes perfect, or so I'm told. " He replied, his voice letting it be known that he was still joking around with her. Once his answer of wine had received the appropriate response, he smiled in a jesting manner. He didn't answer her question, though, only giving a small shrug of his shoulders. ' But no slipping fire whiskey into it while I'm not looking ' He put on his pouting face, whining in a joking way, " But Matty... it would be so much more fun that way. "

The thought of matching sibling shirts sent Matts into a short burst of new thoughts. The image of Jamie and herself in matching shirts almost made her shudder, but they were blocked out with a following thought. If Matty was ever made to wear a corresponding shirt with her brother, it would not be 'Wentworth 1 & 2'. More like the girl would wear 'I'm with Stupid -->' and the boy would wear 'Wentworth Boy', just to amuse those who would notice so. It was a crazy, spun idea, and it was defiantly ruled off her list. Matty now, kind of, realized what it would be like to match her brother. Dreadful, but she wouldn't let Em know that. "Stop being so negative, you have to branch out. I 'spose if you really hate them, though, we could extend the idea to key rings?" she asked him in a curious tone, her eyes locked with his, a smile on her face.
Then as Emeric poked her in the leg, as return for her nudge in his side, the girl followed with a soft laugh to his comment about both putting up with her, and practicing. "Only a few? I'm sure you've already written begun to write out a massive list of all the reasons why I'm so awesome." she jested, not seriously thinking Em, in fact, anyone would do something like that. It was honestly kind of creepy. His whining only made Matty grin, and shake her head slightly. "But Em..." she mimicked him, her eyes still gazing into his. "It'll be no fun when I'm dragging an alcohol-influenced you back to your Common Room. Besides, think of the mischief you could get yourself in." Matty stated, winking quickly, a devilish grin taking place.
