As Em came up with more random things to think about he let his thumb trail slowly over Matty's, just glad to be close to her. Sure, his mind was a bit scattered with thoughts of siblings, matching shirts, and various other strange things he could think of, but he knew was just glad to be thinking all of these weird things with Matty. At least she was thinking about them, too which made it a little less strange for him. ' Don't be so negative, you have to branch out. ' A smirk befell his face as he heard Matty said this. He had branched out so much this year it just wasn't natural for him. He knew she was kidding about it, talking about the shirts and all, but he said, " I think I've branched out quite enough, thank you. " He gave a small laugh, talking about a couple of things. At the beginning of the year he had expanded his horizons a bit by talking to people outside of Slytherin, not the easiest thing in the world to do. And then there was Matty, who was also ' branching out ' when it came to him as well.
He took her comment both seriously and lightly, so he smiled and nodded, saying, " Now key rings is something I could deal with. It's small, and not too obvious to the world that they match. "
Em could think of four reasons why he ' put up with her ' just off the top of his head, not having to give it much thought. Maybe it was she who put up with him? Perhaps a little bit of both as well. " Yup, just a few. Maybe the real question is why do you put up with me? " He asked, his smile holding traces of the ever-returning smirk. He found the idea of actually writing down a list ( even a small one ) of reasons to put up with someone to be a bit dull. Why bother when you could just tell them a few reasons instead? He snickered slightly as she painted a lovely picture for him, her having to drag him back to his common room. He wasn't even sure she would be able to drag him at all without the help of magic or a couple of people to help. " Matts, the mischief would be the fun of it! " He said with a short nod. He didn't really have any plans of getting inebriated any time soon, so he didn't think either of them would have to worry.

The feeling of Em softly running his thumb over hers gave Matty all the more reason to keep her gaze on the boy, and a smile on her face. It was a little hard to swallow the fact that in the first few minutes they met, the air was tense, and both of the teenager had had a go at one another. And now they were holding hands and teasing in such a manner that one would think they would have been friends from the start. Deep down, Matty was glad that they did literally bump into each other, for otherwise this very moment wouldn't be in place. And honestly... the teenager wouldn't really imagine a life without him. Em seemed to be a big part of her life at the moment, even if their relationship wasn't out in the open. When the boy answered to her comment about, showing that she was aware that he had been pushed out of his limits, and in fact taken that in his stride. She acknowledged his agreeing statement about being able to handle the key ring with a small laugh and nod. "Well then, I guess I'll have to start saving to build up my financial kingdom." she jested. A matching key ring company? The thought both amused, and horrified the girl.
"Yup, just a few. Maybe the real question is why do you put up with me?" Matts took a few moments to consider his question, before gently letting go of his hand. She extended her pinky finger, and put her opposite index finger on the end of it, repeating his gesture for the next few fingers, apparently deep in thought. "For starters, theres your good taste in clothing..." she said with a small smirk appearing, glancing back to Em, before looking back to the ocean where her attention was 'focused'. "Then your adorable brother, of course. Your scary snake image. I guess, maybe, you're kind of a good kisser." Matty said, stressing the word 'kinda' in a way that the boy would know she was only teasing still. Finally freeing her hands from themselves, Matty turned back to the Slytherin, a sweet smile on her face. "But I guess on a whole, you're just a cool boyfriend." the girl said softly and sincerely, letting her hand on the opposite side to Emeric rest softly on his chest, and she planted a small kiss on his cheek, pulling away only a few inches yet.

If anything, his fourth year had been his most trying one yet. Issues at school, at home, his social life, his social views, everything was either being forced to change or he was changing them himself. It wasn't easy, as change never was for the Slytherin fourth year, but he was taking most of it as best as he could. His eyes caught Matty's and he smiled warmly, feeling happy with at least this part of the change. He felt a nagging in the back of his mind, his father's voice whispering words, hateful and hurting, words he knew he couldn't say out loud to Matty. He turned away slightly, looking out to the fire. He didn't want her to see just what he was hiding, or that he had anything to hide from her at all. It was safer to just look away for the time being. He allowed for his easy going grin to return to his face as the Hufflepuff lass continued the jest about a key ring company. " I'm just hoping you have higher goals in life. " He said with a small nod, laughing it off and also partially serious. He knew she would have high goals, so he didn't give it too much thought.
Emeric was taken by surprise as she actually gave his question more thought than would have been necessary for her to come up with some witty remark to throw back at him. He turned his head to the side, regarding her with a curious and slightly intrigued look as she went on. He noticed the girl's smirk as she mentioned his good taste in clothing, nodding his head once or twice as if this was the most true thing she had ever said. He was just being conceited, really, but it was a compliment all the same. He laughed as she said something about his ' scary snake image. ' they had already spent a length of time discussing his ' image, ' so he only grinned sheepishly at this. ' I guess, maybe, you're kind of a good kisser. ' He gave her a ' you're crazy ' look, knocking his knee against hers lightly. " Kinda? " He scoffed, his voice a cross between offended and joking. " Ah, thanks Matty. " He said in response to both her cute little smile and what she was saying. He leaned into her touch, feeling the soft touch of her lips on his cheek. He smiled as she pulled away a few inches, giving a second or two to just look at her before he placed a light kiss on her. Kind of... He mentally rolled his eyes, smiling into the kiss.

"I'm just hoping you have higher goals in life." Matty gave a thoughtful nod, as well as a small laugh in reply to this comment. "Higher? Well, I suppose Quidditch could be regarded as higher." she said, meaning it both in a joking way, and a potential way. It was true, though. Quidditch was among the top career choices Matty had in mind for when she did leave school. Odds are that this would surely change, but at the moment, it was defiantly in her interests. The Hufflepuff knew that if she wasn't a good Quidditch player, she wouldn't be on the team, let alone captain, but she did wonder just how good she was. Professional League was no means easy, and it was extremely competitive, but the teenager was willing to give anything a go. Though Quidditch didn't come first on that list. Traveling was her main interest. From her taste of some of the U.K, the Wentworth girl had begun to catch the 'travel-bug', and so this sparked the idea of backpacking in her head. This lead the girls thoughts onto a question for Em. "Have you ever been over seas?" she asked him curiously.
Matts eyes managed t glance sidewards at the boy, noting his reactions as they followed her comments. His 'you're insane' look, following by the bumping of her leg made the youth crack another smile, and she held back a laugh. His scoff only increased both of the previous things, but she was glad he didn't look too offended after her comment. When he thanked her, the Hufflepuff gave a small shrug that said 'no problem', the cute smile still gracing her features. When she did pull away for those few seconds, Matty kept eye contact, her brown eyes on his. When they had first met, the same eyes had held so much defense and confidence, and now? Well, the confidence was still there, but now the girl could see so much more emotions, happiness, and well, it was like looking into Emeric. As corny and cheesy as that sounded, it was kinda of true.
The girl leaned in as the boy did, her hand on his chest keeping it light touch. A smile still seemed to be toying with her lips, and the girl couldn't help that, despite his against hers. Her whole world had been turned around since she met Em, not solely because of him, but he did have his own impact. Her friends, her role as a student, her classes, her professors, her family, her life in general had all begun to change, mostly for the better. And really... she was grateful for it all, in some way or another. Especially on the boy's part. She knew that things couldn't be purely perfect, but they were close enough to it.

Em tapped his fingers lightly on the bench for lack of anything to do with them, his one hand was in Matty’s and the other had nothing to do. So he resolved with tapping his fingers on the wood, not to any specific rhythm or anything, just enough to keep his hands occupied. Now that Matty made mentioned of Quidditch as a profession, he recalled her saying something about it before. He couldn’t remember what she had said exactly, just something about Quidditch being a potential interest of hers career-wise. “ It could be. Pretty ambitious of you to already have an idea what you want to do. “ He said with a somewhat enthusiastic nod of his head. He thought it was good, to be focused and at least have a general idea when it came to occupations and jobs and careers after Hogwarts. He didn’t have a clue about what he wanted to do quite yet, but then again they both had a lot of time. Matty had two full years, and Em three, plus the rest of the current year they were finishing up.
He had been a bit distracted by his thoughts, caught off guard by Matty’s question if he had ever been overseas before. He nodded his head, answering, “ I’ve never been to the United States before, though. Just in Europe. Spain, Italy, France. “ He shrugged his shoulders in a casual manner before turning the question around. “ What about you? “ Traveling was common for the Troy family, about once every year Em’s dad would indulge and take the family on vacation to some far off place. He didn’t know if Matty had ever traveled too much.
He could feel through his shirt the feeling of the light touch of her hand against his chest, his entire body melting slightly under her touch. He turned his head just slightly, his hands moving to Matty’s neck and pulling her just a little bit closer. His thumbs brushed lightly against the girl’s cheeks, his eyes setting on hers. After another short little kiss, he pulled away slightly, still staring into her deep green eyes.

Matty returned his comment about being ambitions in regards to the future with a warm smile. Em was right about that. If you wanted something now, there was a big chance that want would only grow ans grow until you were able to to grasp it. The teenager didn't know if this would be the same in her case, but she did know that there was more then enough time to decide. There honestly wasn't any need to rush, but nor did it hurt to keep these things in mind. When the boy answered her question referring to having traveled, she gave an acknowledging and understanding nod. "Thats pretty cool." she added truthfully. Matty answered his same question shortly after. "Just Ireland and a some odd places in the United Kingdom." she said with a small shrug. She, as mentioned before, wanted to travel allot more than she had. Perhaps now that Ellie and Jamie were around, the Wentworth family would take more trips around Europe.
When Emeric's hand made it's way to her neck, his thumb softly brushing over her cheek, Matty could feel the warmth of his hand, and the same warmth on his fingers. The feeling of his warm hand against her neck and cheek sent a small shiver throughout the girl, though nothing that Em would notice. When they finally did break apart, the teenager let her eyes rest on his own again, one of her softest and warmest smiles breaking onto her lips. She didn't want to ruin the moment of silence between them now, for it seemed so settled and perfect. In fact, Matty wouldn't know what to say. It seemed that she was speechless, not just due to the kiss, but the moment as a whole.

Em knew it was a great probability that he would end up working for the Ministry just as his father was. It was a fate he both dreaded and looked forward to with immense worry and satisfaction. Despite several of the Ministry's shortcomings, he didn't think he would mind working for them, especially in his father's department. The actual though of working for his dad was a little overwhelming to him, but he did kind of find what his father did entertaining. As the continued small talk about traveling Em turned his head in interest, giving a nod to agree that yes, he thought it was pretty cool, too. " Oh yeah? It's nice here, but... nothing like Prague. " He reminisced with a warm smile. Prague of the Czech Republic was one of the most memorable places he could ever recall visiting with his family. The city was beautiful, the most beautiful he had ever seen before. The city life in itself was something to talk about, it had been all parties and get to-togethers while they had been there. " Where do you want to go most? " He questioned quietly, glancing briefly out to the fire before his eyes came to rest back on Matty. In the short moments that followed, Em slid his left hand down the length of the girl's neck, trailing slowly down her arm and her body to rest on her lower thigh, several inches above her knee. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable at all, but it was a comfortable and natural place for his hand to fall, and almost as if he wanted to insure that she wouldn't want to complain, Em leaned forward slightly once again, his hand that was still lightly caressing Matty's neck guiding her lips to his.

With all the talk about the futures, careers and traveling, it made Matty wonder just who and who wouldn't be in her future life. She desperately hoped that Tianne would be, Merlin, if she lost that Ravenclaw girl somewhere along the way, it would be like losing a part of herself. The teenager had no doubt that her dad, Ellie and Jamie were going to be somewhere in the picture. But really, she was more curious on whether Emeric would be in it, or not. She didn't know had far their relationship was going to reach, nor did she know if it would even break the surface. Deep down, she hoped so, but Matty didn't want to give herself any false hope. The girl was aware of the situation between Em and his father, and despite the fact that he told her not to worry, she didn't want to cause conflict. Lets just say the girl preyed that the boy would be in her future, in some way or another.
As the Slytherin mentioned here being nothing like Prague, she wondered what it was like there, and spoke her thoughts. "Whats it like there?" Matty asked. She knew that Prague was of the Czech Republic, but she didn't know all that much about the place in general. "Where do you want to go most?" The Hufflepuff took a couple of moments to think. "Australia, perhaps Venice, or maybe even France. one of the three." the girl said with a small smile. Australia was her first, and most obvious choice. Not only did she want to experience the culture of the country, but her choice was also due to other social reasons. Venice and Paris were also on her top three, simply because they seemed like beautiful, magical places.
As Em let his hand slide down her arm, Matty found that she didn't feel more so uncomfortable or weird than she had in the seconds before. His hand still on her neck made the teenager continue to smile at him. The girl turned herself to wards him a little more, letting her hand on his chest gently trace an imaginary line a few inches up and down his chest. Matty let her lips be guided back to his, feeling the warmth of kissing Emeric take back over her body. She was glad that when they did see each other, they did talk about both things serious and playful, though of course, she didn't mind the kissing either. After a few moments, the teen gently pulled away, her eyes now back on Em's, and she lightly pressed the tip of her nose against his, letting their lips part for the time being. Matty didn't know what compelled to her do so, but it felt nice to be able to be this close and comfortable with the boy.

Now that he thought back on it for a few seconds, Em came to the conclusion that one of the reasons his dad seemed to enjoy his occupation in the international magical cooperation department was because of his love for travel. At times it seemed to Em there was nothing the man enjoyed more than traveling around, with or without his family in tow. While Emeric didn't share that exact same passion with his father or with Matty, he did enjoy traveling and seeing new things just as much as the next person. The idea of working with wizards from around the world interested the Slytherin boy, he realized that it interested him more than he had ever previously given thought to.
' What's it like there? ' He thought for a second or two, wanting to give an answer that would really help Matty to see how great it had been. " Beautiful. The buildings, the people, the everything. It's just beautiful. " He seemed in awe of the place, as he knew most people were whom had visited Prague before. He didn't feel his words gave it justice, though. " Yeah? Never been to Australia before... Venice and Paris, though, nice cities to visit. "
The touch of her hand trailing up and down his chest sent a shiver scurrying down his spine, and he turned his head, his lips parted slightly as his hand on her neck fidgeting slightly, playing with a few strands of her hair. His eyes opened as he felt Matty pull away, touching her nose lightly to his. He gave a low, contented sort of hum as his eyes looked back into hers. He didn't know how she had picked him, or if he had picked her, or even if they had picked one another, but he was thankful for it. More thankful than she knew or than he could tell her. After a few minutes had passed by, Em turned his head to the side, placing a kiss on the girl's neck. His teeth tugged lightly at her skin, not enough to hurt her though. He didn't want to ever hurt her if at all possible. He planted another couple of soft kisses before slowly turning his head back, his eyes catching hers, almost as if he was asking if it was alright.

"Beautiful. The buildings, the people, the everything. It's just beautiful." Matty nodded, accepting the information he had provided. Though she had no idea of the finer details, the girl trusted that the place, or everything, as Em had said, was beautiful. "Well, I guess I'll have to add that to my list of places to visit." she said As he commented on Venice and Paris both being nice cities to visit, the teenager gave another nod, still smiling that same smile. Going to new countries all had seemed to be too good to be true a few years back. But as Matty matured, she realized that these things were allot more common than she had thought, and traveling to such places was possibly, which was why the teen was so eager to do so these days.
The feeling of Emeric twirling some strands of her hair made her skin goosebumps slightly. In all honesty, no boy had ever really given Matty goosebumps before, so it was rather a new feeling, and it gave her slightly butterflies in her stomach. Really... Em wasn't like any guy she had been with before. There had been a certain amount of layers to go through before she had reached this kind of person, and the girl felt lucky to be able to realize that fact. He did mean allot to her, more than she had ever anticipated. Behind all his smirks, there was a smile to make up for it. Behind all the teasing comments, there had been some sort of compliment to make up for it. Putting aside all their differences, there was enough things common to keep the two interesting, and wanting to stay with each other.
Once some time had passed by, her eyes watched as he turned his head, kissing her neck gently. It was a new, exotic feeling. In the past, not even when she was with Leto, had the girl been in his sort of situation. But the new feeling wasn't declined, Matty bit her lower lip, as she didn't want to seem silly by grinning too much. When they eyes did meet again, the girl's grin formed back into a smile. The fact that Em gave her butterflies, well, it made her aware of just how much she was still falling for him. After a few moments, the teen slowly placed small, soft kisses up his neck, a few along his jaw, and finally another on his lips. She pulled away after a while, letting her free hand find it's way to Emeric's own on her neck, her fingers lightly tracing over the back on his hand.

Emeric felt bad for not being able to describe the city as it should be described, but really he just wasn't quite sure how to put the magic of the city into words that would make Matty see how he saw it. " You really should.. nothing like Prague, really. I wish I could show you, y'know? It's sort of indescribable, though. " He admitted with a meek shrug of his shoulders. He hadn't been too surprised that he had traveled more than her, her dad had a restaurant to keep up with, and had a new ( sort of ) family to maintain. Em didn't know if there would be an issue of money when it came to Matty's family being able to travel or is it was just not having time instead. He didn't venture to ask. " I'd like to take you there, sometime. " He said with a small nod of his head. Em didn't realize it was the first thing he had ever really said to Matty to give the impression that he was really honestly committed to the girl in the long run. But he meant it, he would like to take her there if he could. He knew she'd love it.
He continued twirling her hair lightly in his fingers, brushing his hand against her neck every so often. He could feel a fluttering in his stomach, a nervous, achy sort of feeling that both excited him and made him feel a little guilty for feeling that way. He made up for it, though, by reasoning that while this was always a good part of a relationship, it was never the most important. And while he did enjoy it, there was also more to him and Matty. It was obvious that they were attracted to one another physically, but he was also attracted to her mind, and the differences in thoughts they had at times.
The Huffepuff girl didn't seem put off by what he had done and he smiled in relief, letting his eyes fall closed as she placed several small kisses on his neck and jaw line. He turned into her touch slightly, his eyes slowly opening again to look into hers as she placed another kiss on his lips this time. A smile tugged at his face as the girl put a small amount of distance between the two. He could feel her hand tracing lightly against the back of his, his fingers still playing absently with her hair. " Matty... " He said softly, glancing down to her inviting lips, but he resisted the urge to place a small kiss on them, there was something wanted to say. His eyes caught hers and he smiled in a somewhat shy sort of way.

The teenager understood that some things, or places in this case, could not be merely explained or described in words. She noticed that Em was struggling to capture the real beauty of the place, though Matty didn't mind so much. She trusted that he knew what he was talking about. "Ill take your word for it, then." the girl stated honestly. The more he convinced her that it really was an amazing place, the more curious the Hufflepuff became. This wasn't unusual, though. Often Matty would heard about things, or places that interested her, and they would play on her mind for a while until she sussed them out. It was probably the same case here, though the sussing but may have to wait a number of years before doing so. "I'd like to take you there, sometime." The girl grinned slightly at the mention of this. "I'd like that." she replied. And she really would.
Matty was still conscious of the feeling of Em playing with her hair. The fire's warmth had dried her hair quite allot, and now the different layers were rather wavy and curly, as they did after drying by themselves. The teenager realized that although some aspects of the two, and their relationship were perfect, that all bad came with good. She didn't expect anything of Em, but he had given her more that she could have hoped for. After she had pulled away, the girl noticed the smile tugging on the boy's features. She was glad that there wasn't any discomfort or awkwardness in this situation. The chemistry between them was obviously mutual. With her fingertips still lightly tracing over the back on his hand, Matty kept his gaze as he softly mumbled her name, however trailing off after wards. "Mhm?" she hummed quietly, curious as to what he was going to say.

Em hummed in response, glad that Matty seemed to understand that he just couldn't put it into words the magical beauty that appeared to hover over the city, giving it light and essentially - life. It made him think of other places he had visited that made him feel the same way, Vienna, Copenhagen, and many other cities. It was usually the cities that seemed to capture his interest most. While he loved the country side, as growing up in Ireland had brought him to do so, there was nothing like bustling city life. ' I'd like that. ' He couldn't think of anything to say really, so he nodded his head, a small sort of smile on his face. After a few seconds he said, " Good. Me too. "
Em could feel his hand twitching lightly under the soft tracing of hers as he rolled a strand of her hair between his index finger and his thumb, liking the feeling of it. He liked the feeling of Matty in general, how they seemed to have a system with one another. It was a system of give and take, as any good relationship should be. He didn't want to jinx them, but in that moment it felt just about perfect. He didn't want to chicken out from what he wanted to say, so he took a deep breath and just... said it. " Matty... I think I might love you. " A strong word, an intense word... a completely and totally terrifying word. But he felt it, and he hoped she felt it, too. His eyes looked back out to the fire after he said this, almost afraid to look back at the Hufflepuff girl for a few seconds.

Would they be together long enough to travel with one another, whether it was before or after they left school? Matty hoped so. No past boyfriend of the girl's had ever seriously suggested wanting to take her somewhere. In the times that going away had been mentioned, it was rather a spur of the moment idea, that was simply thrown into conversation. But knowing Em... well, it may be a real possibility some day.
Matty now allowed the thumb on the hand that was still laying on the boys chest to softly trace the fabric of his vest. As she continued to take in the whole moment, the girl appreciated the connection Emeric and herself had more and more. He was special to her. As the second seemed to tick by, the teenager was growing even more curious as to what he was going to say. Then, when the Slytherin finally did speak, the words drifted to her ears, as if in a dream. "Matty... I think I might love you." Love. The word lingered in her air. For the female race, this was one of the most important phrases one may hear. His words kept running over in her brain, and as seconds created a gap, Matty's mind mulled it over. Her eyes focused on the fire, before returning back to the brown ones that belonged to her boyfriend. Then the realization clicked inside, and the words formed themselves without much thought. "I think I love you too, Emeric." Matty said softly, a subtle smile on her lips. She meant it, too.

He was sure that if someone had been looking closely at him in those few immediate seconds following him saying that they would have seen the look of fear, and even vulnerability crossing his face. He was glad that Matty's eyes seemed to turn to the place where he, too was staring off into. The time felt like it was stretching in into eternity for him, and he secretly began to regret saying it. What if she didn't feel the same way? What if she didn't want to say it? The smallest of sighs escaped him and he looked back to Matty, his piercing brown eyes catching onto her tantalizing green ones.
' I think I love you too, Emeric. '
" Hmm... " He hummed, his smile in place as he leaned forward, resting his head on the girl's shoulder, his face turned towards her neck. " Really? " He mumbled into her hair. He wasn't even sure if she could tell what he said, but he just wanted to be close to her for a few seconds. He couldn't remember the last time he had said that to someone and really meant it. Love. The word loomed over him, scarying him, and making him want to run for the hills, but he didn't because he didn't want to. He was fine with where he was.
