With summer well underway and approaching a too rapidly-coming end, Hogwarts was opening itself up to the incoming First Years for their reactions and first glances of the castle they would soon be calling home. Families and students had just arrived from the Hogwarts Express and had been given rides in the thestral-pulled carriages, some gave wide-eyed expressions about just how the carriages were moving seemingly on their own, while others eyes were wide in fright at what they could see.
The muggy air pulled some in frantic panics about their dampening hair, some brought out kerchiefs to wipe their brows every so often, and still others looked as cool and collected as could be. The range of faces, old and young, were a sight to behold. None looked the same, but many carried the same expressions of fright, discomfort, and delight.
With things underway and the leader of the orientation, Allegra Thornton, ready to receive inside the castle where a light breeze could be felt thanks to a new spell cast in the Entrance Hall for this very day, there were many chances for the incoming students and their families to see things they never have before. Professors passing by, House Elves apparating and disapprating just as quickly after a spot had been wiped away, magical creatures being tended to by Professor Davenport out in the stables, and the Giant Squid waiting for any first year to get too close so he could snatch him up and away were the dreams of those who were jealous or annoyed...
The Festivities were to begin shortly.

Chris didn't like being in carriages. It felt too old fashioned for him... he was too hip for it. Well at least he thought he was... but then again, Chris kinda thought he was too good for school too. Suppose that would have to change, he thought as he looked about the carriage. Everyone else seemed to be intrigued with what went on outside. Boring! Or at least he thought so until the castle came into view. What -
Words couldn't adequately express how Chris felt when he laid eyes on the place he was about to call his home. Before long, even the hipper-than-life Chris found himself gawking at the sights of the grounds of Hogwarts.

"Clayton, wake up!" yelled Clayton's mother. They were almost late for the orientationl. Clayton shot up and got dressed. He ran outside where everyone was at and went to Kings Cross. All that Clayton knew was that he had to get his orientation for being a first year at Hogwarts. Getting the letter was the best thing that ever happened in his short life. He could finally stop being home-schooled and going to other schools.
They got to the Hogwarts Express and picked a cart to sit from. They started to talk the whole way about how Clayton's parents were in Hogwarts and all, and how fun it was. Clayton was too excited to even go to sleep. He was becoming a mature wizard, or so he thought.
Bing.
They were finally there. After being carried away by automatic trolleys being carried by "anything". He could hear his parents talk about some invasion, but nothing that Clayton could understand anyways. Once they got off, they headed to the main doors. It was already opened, and they walked in.
Wowww..... this place... was awesome...

Having arrived on the Hogwarts Express along with the incoming students and their families, as well as with students leaders who had agreed to help out with the orientation-- though she was sure they agreed on their own whereas she'd been forced by her mum to go-- Felicity entered the castle, glad to feel the smallest breath of cool air on her face. The mugginess of the day had her and a few others by the looks of them feeling a little under the weather.
Blonde locks pulled back from her face in a lengthy ponytail now that her hair was growing back out after the sudden cut she'd required in December; light brown eyes putting on a facade of joy and well being; and robes draped over her arms as she couldn't stand to put the material on over her navy capris and pale yellow tanktop. She was dressed more fashionable than in the past, though she still didn't quite match, especially with Drew's silver lariat draped around her neck and her dad's matching birthday earrings and matching you got Prefect-good job-present of a bracelet.
Soon after having set foot inside the castle walls, the blonde involuntarily glanced over at the Great Hall doors, glad to see them still standing, but afraid to be behind them still. With a quickened pace, she edged closer to Drew's sister, wondering exactly what she would want Felicity to do that day.

Allegra had been sitting halfway up on the main steps, letting the little bit of breeze waft through the grand oak doors which stood open to the grounds. What little air came through to the main hall didn't do much, but was still welcome while she waited.
When the carriages approached, she stood, smoothing her simple sun-dress before skipping down the final stairs and wondering where her brother had gone off to. Something about checking to see if his new badge got him into any new places. She had tried to tell him it didn't (something he should have known since he had stolen hers a few times) but he was still bent on trying.
The new first years stepped from the carriages and Allegra smiled naturally, remembering her own first look at the castle. It had been an exciting time and she hadn't had the benefit of something like this.
"Hi all! Welcome to Hogwarts!" she greeted, giving a small wave to her brother's girlfriend. Felicity came over and Allegra's own bit of nervousness lessened now that she had someone she kind of knew nearby.
"We have refreshments in the Great Hall," she told everyone, pointing to the doors off to the side that led to the main dining room. "And if you have any questions before the tours start, feel free to ask!" Hopefully that would take her off the hook for about twenty minutes. With the new students and their families hopefully taken care of for the time being, she could turn to the Gryffindor standing next to her. "Congrats on Prefect," she said with a smile. "Drew couldn't stop talking about it after finding out."

Returning the small greeting, Felicity held her arms tightly around her body, the robe in her arms weighing down seemingly greatly. Even if she didn't have to wear the robe, she figured that at least it would work well enough for something to help her keep from being too damp during the tour.
Nodding briefly at Allegra, she gave the smallest hints of a smile about the congratulations. "Thank you," the blonde said quietly. And the blush was unable to be helped when she pointed out that Drew had talked about it, and it seemed he talked about it a lot. Or maybe it was just to Allegra? Drew had told her they were close before, though she'd never really had the time, nor made the greatest of efforts, to get to know the older girl either. "Really?"
It was a question that had to be asked now that the information had been put out on the table? Drew did talk about her and things when he had accomplished something more important? Such as getting Head Boy like he really wanted? If anything, he should've gone on and on about that, not her.

“Is their robe tight enough? No one will see their faces. Right Yuko?” Richard nervously asked in the compartment the Fairchild family sat in as the train was finally coming to a stop. Hogwarts was not something he had wanted his children to adorn. Wasn’t muggle life bad enough for the pureblooded girls? He could only imagine how wizards and witches would treat his children, his beautiful daughters. “It’s a beautiful robe, Richard, and covers the both of them well,” Yuko responded.
Selene and Chandra both smiled brightly at their mother’s compliment about their new robe, but they knew better at what it was for. Much bigger than a wizard’s normal robe, it covered both girls, allowing for them to each have one of their arms out in a sleeve. For Selene that meant her left arm was out, free, while again her sister was nervously grabbing at the other. Selene would have rolled her eyes, if she weren’t just as anxious about this tour thing, too.
However, the best part in Richard’s mind about the robe was the hood. The hood covered both of the girl’s heads and was bewitched to cast a shadow across the faces of the person wearing the hood. She shadows mingled the two girl’s faces together, and as long as you were not to lose the hood, only one face could be outlined. The robe was their sanctuary from instant discrimination and judgment. Not to mention, it would keep Richard himself out of trouble from defending the two too much. He still planned on never leaving their sides, as did Yuko, but at least the two parents could pull off for a while that everything was normal.
“Good, yes. The robes design is flawless,” Richard cupped his hands into the robe around the two girl’s faces, pressing them together slightly and leaning his forehead against the both of them. “Love you girls, with all my heart,” he whispered as Yuko nodded. “As do I.”
Getting off of the train, the Fairchild twins’ parents stood at either side of them, blocking some stares that were given as the two swayed their normal walking sway. Into a carriage wasn’t as hard as Richard thought it was going to be for the sites and sounds captivated most of the new comers. This proved even easier as they neared the castle and exited the carriage when it came to a complete stop. Again, the Fairchild adults were relieved, for they knew it would be this easy after a while. Standing at either side of the girls, Richard helped the twins out of the carriages, Yuko soon following. They took their first steps upon Hogwarts Grounds and looked around. Selene was impressed.
Selene looked up at the castle and nodded her head, a smug expression on her face as she took the time to evaluate where they’d be going to school. “Eh, it’s not too bad I guess,” she said, not wanting to really admit to how excited she was, and how huge the entire building was. “Look, we’ll be princess’ of a new castle for real this time Chandra.” Selene snickered and elbowed her sister jokingly. “All we need now are the loyal subjects to follow.” Again she laughed, but took a look around at the kids and the others who were there. “Something smells like…” she paused, a sly smirk on her face. Selene looked over at her sister, amazed how the hood never fell from their heads. “….smells like fresh meat, if you get my drift.”

“Alright girls, don’t stray too far from your mother and I,” Richard slightly pleaded as he went to Selene’s side and Yuko found her Chandra’s. Chandra grabbed her mother’s hand and squeezed it. She couldn’t believe where she was standing, nor could she believe still that they had actually been accepted! It was amazing, and she just couldn’t contain herself. Unfortunately, her father always knew how to put a dent in things.
“Now, we talked about this before, but I’m just reminding you,” he started and Chandra knew exactly what was coming. She moaned and whimpered, which only got her scolded by her mother. “We are here for an orientation, not to make friends. There will be plenty of time for that later.” Chandra didn’t understand. If they were there for an orientation, didn’t that mean with your classmates as well? Why shock everyone who would find out later any ways?
It was then Selene started looking around and silently talking to her. Chandra couldn’t help but smile, though she knew her sister was being mean. “Do you think we’ll actually be princess’ here?” Chandra asked, not knowing if her sister really even knew. “’Cause last princess stories I knew, princess’ only had one head,” she got down on herself but shrugged all the same.
Though, she couldn’t help but laugh still softly as she could tell Selene was already trying to come up with schemes and plans. They had a rather large group of followers at their old school, but that was only because they were afraid of Selene beating them up….or they followed because, who wouldn’t want to follow a body with two girls on top? Chandra rolled her eyes, but took in her sister’s comments well. They were comforting, in a rather odd, but mean way. It almost gave Chandra hope that they’d meet people who would like them enough to follow them. Or at least, befriend them.
Chandra looked around. The castle was huge, which only made her silently squeal to herself more. Oh, yes. She got her sisters drift alright. Bigger place, more people, more troubles, more accomplishments, and above all…..
….more life worth living.

"Sheesh... try to get him to stop!" Allegra answered, rolling her eyes and giggling. While it might be considered a breech of trust to let Felilcity know how often her bother spoke of her, Allegra had a feeling he might not really mind all that much. Still... "Don't tell him I told you that though, because I'll deny it..."
The first years and their families were still coming in, but Allegra was expecting a few more, as well as some more student leaders, namely her afore-mentioned brother. If anyone could get the new students and their families into the Great Hall for refreshments, she figured he could. Or eat all of the tea sadwiches and cookies. It really didn't make much difference to her.
"So, you had a good summer?" she asked the new prefect, mostly verifying what she had already heard.

Watching as the First years and their families entered the castle, some for the first and last time, Felicity took note of a semi-wobbly one. She bit her lip to keep from laughing about it looking like it was the first day on a new set of legs, and only then noticed the bunched up material of the cloak. Really, it was much to muggy to wear one, though, she did have hers. Meadow had been shocked when Felicity chose to wear what she had on and said she must take her robe with her to maintain professionalism. If only she could get her daughter in a dress that wasn't for a huge occasion.
Feeling the heat rise to her cheeks a little, Felicity wasn't sure if it was because of the air of the day or what Allegra said. "I won't tell."
It was a shy promise, but she wouldn't, as long as Drew didn't ask her outright. She couldn't keep a secret from him if he asked, merely because she couldn't tell lies very well.
"For the most part," she answered. "The camping trip Drew came on with us was fun, and we're going camping again next week. But I've been working, too. And that can be fun, but I've kind of missed not seeing Drew so much," she added to the Thornton sibling in confidence. It was nice that he did come over and spend some time with her when they could do it, but she missed eating dinner with him, studying with him, and his little dates he tried to plan for her. Those were the nicest, even if not all of them turned out too well.
"Did you want me to do anything?" she asked suddenly, bringing herself from her own thoughts. "Or am I supposed to wait?"

Connor had taken special preparation for his visit back to Hogwarts for the first year orientation. He had made sure that he had risen early enough, showered dresses and eaten a nice breakfast consisting of four pancakes, orange juice and milk. He was still a little hungry, but as his mother had offered him more, he answered ‘ no. ‘ He was nervous enough about this without the addition of extra food. It was a bit ridiculous, he knew, but he was nervous as this was his first act as Prefect. How many other student leaders would show up? He had volunteered to help out at the small function due to lack of anything else to do, and he wondered who else could say the same.
The Slytherin was also curious about who else had gotten Prefect for their house. He hadn’t really heard anything yet, and wondered all the same.
The ride to Hogwarts had been a bit boring although Connor wouldn’t have admitted it to anyone. He had decided to sit by himself, not having spotted anyone around his age. Mostly first years, so he found a compartment on his own and tried to enjoy the ride from King’s Cross. He was grateful for the trip to end and even found himself liking the ride in the carriages pulled by nothing. As he had arrived the previous year just after the beginning of term, he had never ridden in the carriages before and found it interesting.
As Connor entered the castle with a small swarm of first years he wasn’t quite sure what to do with himself. Although he had made sure to dress nicely, clean jeans and a new green shirt. It was a plain outfit, a little hot for the mugginess of the day, but the sixth year didn’t mind. The castle was cooler inside than out and he enjoyed the temperature change. Remembering the Prefect’s badge in his pocket, he pulled it out as he walked in the general direction of where the people seemed to be going. He finally saw someone he recognized, Felicity from classes. He also recalled Celina talking about the girl quite a bit.
Making his way over, Connor placed his badge back into his pocket, deciding that it would be strange to wear the badge without robes on. “ Hey, “ He said to announce his arrival. A pretty lame opener in his opinion, but he didn’t quite know what to say.

Tianne was so happy to be back at her school, her home and her favourite place in the world. Arriving by the famous, Hogwarts express, was just an added plus for the girl, as she loved train trips. Although she had sat by herself most of the trip, she had still enjoyed herself. With a handful of bertie botts, a book and her trusty music player, the trip went by quicker than you could imagine. Tianne had also spent a lot of time, staring aimlessly out the window, waiting until the time came where she could actually sit with her friends o the train, as she only met Matty, Seth and Ryan the previous year.
Tianne felt odd to be at Hogwarts without wearing robes, as each of the other times that she had arrived, she had worn her black and blue school robes, neatly pressed and smelling fresh. Instead the girl wore a simple yellow tee-shirt with a pair of white shorts that reached her knees. It wasn't as 'pretty' as some of the things that the girl owned, but it was comfortable, and she like wearing it. Tianne had her hair out, and had neglected to straighten it. She left it curly, reaching just below her shoulders, as the curls took off some of the length.
As the girl jumped out of the carriage, that she shared with a couple of first years, she smiled. She saw the hgue towers, her minds flooding with memories, her grin increasing. Tianne was so glad to be home, even if it was only brief. She glanced around, seeing students with their parents, and a few other peole that she was sure she knew, or had met before. She wandered over to the group consisting of Felicity, a girl that she had met over the break, and Conner, a slytherin, that she only really knew the name of. "Hey Felicity. Conner, right? And sorry, but I don't know you're name. I take you work here?" Tianne asked casually, nervous to find out what the group was going to say. The girl squeezed her prefect badge, that was taking refuge in her pocket. She was scared, how was she going to cope with being a prefect?

Nathan had received a notice saying he must attend the First Years orientation in the Entrance Hall. He wasn't sure why the groundskeeper would have to attend but he would make an appearance anyways. Along with Cooper, who couldn't stand to be more than five feet away from Dad. Nathan stood in front of the small mirror in the hut he now occupied, trying to fix his hair and make it somewhat presentable. He scrubbed and scrubbed the dirt from his hands and under his nails, searched for a shirt that wasn't completely disgusting and covered in dirt, but there was little to choose from.
Finally, Nathan took a step back from the mirror so he could see more of himself. He shook his hair into place and let it sit, straightening out his shirt and rolling up the sleeves. With a slight sigh, Nathan looked around the hut. "Cooper?" he called out, "You ready, bud?"

"Yes Daddy!" Cooper called from behind the curtain that blocked off his section of the hut. He had insisted on having his own "room" and Nathan had put up a bar and a curtain for him. Cooper stood behind it, in front of his bed with his small trunk open, digging through his clothes. He pulled out a pair of shorts and pulled them on over his little boxers, socks, and a huge basketball jersey that belonged to Dad. Cooper poked his little arms through the armholes and pulled the curtain back, looking up at his Dad with a huge grin.
"Can I wear this?" he asked.

Nathan chuckled at his little boy and nodded his head. "Sure, buddy," he answered. He looked down at Cooper's feet, seeing that that the jersey was nearly dragging along the ground. As long as he didn't ruin it, it didn't really matter. Nathan knew Cooper liked anything he owned and Nathan was okay with him taking it once in a while.
Heading to the door, Nathan bent down a little and nodded his head toward the door. "Wanna ride?" Nathan asked.
