And he said something that made the corners of her lips turn upwards and a small puff of a laugh escape her airways. Of course, it wasn't just what he said, but also what she thought of when he said it. While his pants hadn't ever just come off, beaten or pulled or otherwise, she had to laugh a little more at the image in her mind. He had shown her his boxers, accidentally albeit, and the pants hadn't just come off, they'd been torn, but really, she was taking the words too literally in her mind.
"I know," she admitted, still not looking at him. "I just wanted to make sure you knew that I don't want you to let me win." And while it really had been made clear before, she wanted to be sure he understood that if he let her win at something, she wouldn't be happy.

Drew had seen the start of a smile and while he wasn't sure what he had said to cause it, he took it as an encouraging sign.
"I understand that," Drew assured her, leaning over in the hopes of catching her eye. "And I don't think I could stand it, being with someone who was so self-involved or so self-depricating that they needed me to do that." He knew he messed up a lot. He was just glad she let him know so he could fix it.

"I would hope not," she told him truthfully, finally looking over to meet his gaze. It was those blue eyes again, and they made her realize she was once more being ridiculous, but she didn't want to admit it, because in a way she knew she was right. If he felt the need to let her win, he'd better have a really good excuse, because she preferred when he made her work for something.
"I'm sorry," she began, knowing how horrible she was at them. "I just really don't want you to think I need you to let me win at something, because it's just like with my wandwork, right? Practice until I get it."

He smiled when she looked at him, finally feeling that things were okay again. He had agreed with her month ago, not even realizing that it was that huge of a deal to her. He thought it was just something she found annoying and he quit it, but no, she had really gotten upset over it.
"I know," he assured her again, willing to reitterate it a hundred more times if he had to. "The win means nothing if it's just given to you. It's better when you actually work for it. I was totally teasing before." He got it. Really he did.

"Exactly," she said. Winning meant nothing if it wasn't earned. "And I'm still sorry. I shouldn't have gotten so over-worked about it." And she shouldn't have, she knew that, and was kicking herself slightly for admitting it when she was looking right into those blue eyes of hers that just made her want to melt sometimes. If she wasn't looking at them, she could still admit it, but looking into them just made her feel really, really ridiculous about the whole thing.
Stretching her hand out a bit, she found his and gave it a squeeze. Felicity wasn't mad at him, and she wanted to make sure he knew that, but she wasn't entirely pleased about it either.

She was doing it again, making it so hard for him not to kiss her. If they hadn't been sitting in her father's house he would have pulled her on his lap and just held her there for a moment, needing that closeness to give a definite end to the misunderstanding. As it was, he couldn't and the best he could do was squeeze her hand back.
He did do one bit more, picking up his marker and letting it place a kiss on her cheek. If he couldn't do it himself maybe he could enjoy it vicariously. "It's okay now?" he asked, wanting to make sure.

All right, it was just getting silly now, the want to kiss him, to hug him, to be so much closer than she dared to be, and it was getting absolutely ridiculous. She knew he hadn't meant it in the way he said it, but it was her first thought, and she knew she'd promised to work on her first thoughts and let others settle in before reacting, but it was really hard to do.
"Yes, it's all right," she answered with a smile. The kiss from the pawn wasn't as nice as his kisses were, but it was adorable all the same, and her cheeks had deepened to a nice crimson colour with his little action. "And I think it's your turn, too."

He hadn't wanted to move until everything was cleared up, but now that it seemed to be, he replaced his pawn and took up the die, tossing a four. He landed on square 90, just about to enter the home stretch of the game. The chance of landing on a chute was greater on the last row than it was on any other.
Yes, there was still a good chance she would beat him, but the fact that he was so far ahead of her should be clear evidence that he wasn't going to just 'let' her win.

Taking up the die, Felicity rolled yet again another six. Sixes were in her favour for the moment, but she didn't have much faith in the die Drew provided that came with the game. With how much it had made her be set back, it wasn't likely to let her go a good distance without falling behind yet again.
Making her little girl dance her way to square forty-five, she put on a little show of how scared the girl was of the huge ladder splicing through the square she was supposed to be on before making her jump across to the other side of the square safely and panting appropriately.

Drew laughed at the little show, almost making a comment about the little girl needing protection, but he kept it to himself instead. It probably wouldn't go over well so soon after the winning fiasco.
Drew took up the die and shook it, not sure what he was hoping for. Avoiding a three or a five would get him closer to winning, but would also get him closer to ending the game and closer to having to go home. The cube landed on a six for him as well and he made his piece skid to his new spot, just four short of the win.

Watching Drew's next move, Felicity hoped he hadn't cursed the die for her, getting as close as he was to winning when she was still so far behind. However, she had to remind herself, it was only a game of luck, and he had nothing to do with how the die rolled.
Picking up the piece, she rolled it again, hoping for a good number so she could jump to a good spot ahead. Releasing the die, she watched as it sailed across the board and came to a stop right on the very edge, on a three.
Grumbling, Felicity moved her girl to square forty-eight, which landed her down the chute to square twenty-six. Drew had definitely cursed the die.

Hearing her grumble and seeing how far behind she was took all of the fun out of any possible gloating. He was tempted to fix the die so he'd roll a two and go down that last chute, but he knew that somehow she'd find out and it would just make everything worse.
"So, do I have to do this by exact count?" he asked as he picked up the die and shook it. With the toss it landed on five, one more than he needed. If he had to do it with a four, maybe it would give her some time to catch up at least.

((awww...but her grumbling was only in fun ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) )) It really wasn't a horrible thing to be so far behind, but she was sure thinking there was something wrong with the die, especially as she was as far behind as she was. And really, it was a game of luck, and it was more than obvious the blonde had none of it at the moment. Giving a smile to Drew, she nodded. "It has to be done with the correct count. Otherwise, you're counting over one hundred." Taking up the die, she only hoped she wouldn't get something that sent her downwards, but it gave her another chance at getting to the really big ladder, which was a plus in her book. Shaking the die, she dropped it and watched as miraculously it landed on a two, exactly what she needed to go up the ladder to the top. Her jaw dropped as she saw the die land, how on earth the die that had been provided gave her such a good number, she wasn't sure, but wasn't going to argue either. Letting her girl skedaddle up the ladder to square eighty-four, she grinned at Drew. Perhaps she wasn't as far behind anymore...as long as she didn't get another chute.

Now that she was able to move up the board, Drew felt better and he was able to do a little dance in celebration of both of them being so close to the end.
His happy-groove was short lived, though as he took up the die and actually got the two he had been thinking about in the previous turn. He wasn't too happy to see it now. He made a face and took the slide down to 78, noting that another two would win him the game.

His dance was contagious and she followed suit. It was nice to be in a good spot on a game, even if she didn't care if she won or not, it was the course of the game that mattered. But just as Drew's dance ended, hers did too, she hadn't wanted him to go so far down the board and have to go through that mess again.
Rolling the die, she got a five, which was easy enough to go with as it didn't put her at a chute. But before she left her square, her piece stretched down to the square below and gave Drew's a quick kiss before toddling off in the direction of eighty-nine.
