"I've got it," Felicity answered with a smile. It was just a little box, nothing she couldn't handle, and it wasn't as though she had to juggle a few games around to get it into an exact spot, any place on one of the shelves worked. It just so happened there was an easy spot on one of the lower shelves where the kids could easily reach it.
Tracking with her eyes the last bit of her dad disappearing from sight into the kitchen once more, Felicity sauntered towards Drew, hands clasped behind her back. Although she was to see him within a few days time, she still didn't want him to leave because it meant they were getting closer to a long stretch where she wouldn't see him. And although after that stretch she'd see him right up till summer break, she couldn't help but feel as though the stretch was an extremely long time to go without seeing him.
"I wish you didn't have to go," she spoke softly, hoping no one was listening. If it was Hogwarts, she knew she'd see him probably in the morning the next day at breakfast, but right then she knew it'd be close to a week before seeing him.

Drew grinned back, pleased to hear her say it. Of course, he'd prefer to stay as well, but aside from promising his sister he'd be back early, he figured it would get him a few points with Felicity's dad. Drew knew that there were guys out there that really didn't care what the girl's dad thought, but the Ravenclaw was confident that if Ib Hjort put his foot down and said Drew couldn't see Felicity, chances were that Drew wouldn't.
"Me either, but I have to," he answered with a sad shrug. And he was pretty sure that in a few minutes her dad would come out again to make sure it happened.

"I know," she mumbled softly still. Just because he had to go didn't mean she had to like it, nor that she had to want it to happen. In fact, she would have preferred to just be at Hogwarts where she knew she'd see him again at some point the next day, but at least he was going to stop in for New Years Eve, that was a plus in her book.
And if Ib Hjort said Drew could no longer see Felicity, or Felicity couldn't see Drew, she wouldn't. If her dad said she couldn't do something, she wouldn't go against his word, no matter how much she didn't like it or wanted to rebel. Her dad was her dad after all, and what he said went, and while her mum sometimes got her own word in things, and her word was a higher law than that of her dad, she respected her dad too much to go against what he told her.
It was an awkward moment, just standing there. Normally, if they had been at Hogwarts, Felicity would've been clinging onto Drew for a good last hug, getting as many kisses from him as she could, but with the chance of any one of her family members sneaking a peek at the wrong moment, she wasn't about to take that big of a chance, not right then.
"I guess I'll walk you to the door, then?" she asked, still feeling really awkward about the whole thing.

"Tell your mom good night for me," Drew said, walking to the door as slowly as he reasonably could. "And tell her thanks for letting me stay a bit."
He got to where his coat had been hung and reluctantly took it back. This was it and there was no more stalling. He probably couldn't prolong this goodby for much more. He pulled his jacket on with a shrug and dug his hat and gloves out of his pocket before looping his scarf around his neck.
"You'll have to tell me how that story with Freddy finishes," he told her, trying to figure out if he dared to kiss her right there in her front hallway. People said he had a strong Gryffindor streak, but right now he wasn't feeling it. The Ravenclaw figured the odds of having her parents walk in on them was pretty high. "And you'll let me know what time for New Year's right?" At least he had that to look forward to.

"Good night and thanks," Felicity repeated to herself. Those were for her mum, which would be easy enough messages to give. Her mum would receive them well and would be slightly sad she didn't get the chance to say good night herself, though Felicity was sure she was busy keeping her dad from barging in and hurrying the process of Drew's leaving up.
If watching someone get dressed could be painful, this was it. While it wasn't exactly painful, it was saddening as she knew it would be the end of Drew's visit, but she had to remind herself it wasn't as though she wasn't going to ever see him again. New Years wasn't that far away and neither was the return to Hogwarts.
"I'll let you know if he doesn't first," Felicity promised. If she managed to finish it before New Years, she would be sure to tell him that night. "And yes, I'll owl you to let you know what time, promise." As if she'd really let that slip her mind.
Standing there awkwardly again, she decided one little thing wouldn't cause any trouble. Besides, what could anyone truthfully say about it? It was friendly and acceptable, or at least she thought so.
Stepping forward a bit more, she placed her arms around him and embraced the boy. A hug was hradly anything, but she'd take hardly anything to nothing any day.

He was still fiddling with his gloves, putting off the inevitable walk through the door and out into the cold when she hugged him. It was unexpected but definitely welcome and he hugged her back, sighing happily at the feel of her so close next to him. He was glad she had initiated it because he sure wouldn't have, worried as he was about her dad. The thought of Mr. Hjort coming back in was enough to make him pull away, but before he did he dared enough to place a small kiss on her cheek.
"New years... you'll owl me, right?" he confirmed, wondering if he'd be able to get his hands on a telephone so he could at least talk to her before then. It was less than a week until he'd see her, but even that seemed like a long time.

"I promise," she answered, glowing that he'd kissed her cheek. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make her smile and give rise to color in her cheeks. With how long they'd been kissing, one would think she would be used to it, but it never stopped her cheeks from turning in color nor the smile from creeping over her lips. "Do you think I'd forget to let you know? Someone I want over and offered to come over if all was all right?"
A small giggle gave way as she looked at him. While he'd let go of her, putting a stop to the hug, she couldn't help feeling as though he was still holding on. It was just that comfort she loved and he was the one who gave it to her. It was more than nice, and though he had to leave before her dad reentered, enforcing that idea, she felt a little better about him leaving with how he asked for confirmation that she wasn't going to forget to let him know.

No, he hadn't gotten goodnight kiss on her doorstep, but he had gotten quite a few others throughout the day, and he felt that one little giggle of hers would be enough to keep him warm on the way home.
"So... I'll see you then..." he said, grinning down at her with his hand on the door. "Thanks for going out with me. I had a really good time." He was pretty sure he had told her that earlier, but just in case, it didn't hurt to say it again.

"Thank you for taking me out, and I did too. I had a lot of fun," she told him while trying to keep her eyes off of his hand on the door. It was true, even when they'd argued, things had turned out well, and she was glad they had. The bear was one of the best gifts, and of course she wasn't about to lose it nor forget she still had his in her pocket too.
"Oh!" she exclaimed, digging her hand in her pocket to retrieve the two figures. "This one's yours, don't forget." Dangling the cherry one out in front of him, she waited for him to take it. The other one was hers and she wasn't going to give it up, not when it smelled the most like him.
"I guess, I'll see you in a few days then."

"New Years," he said, smiling at the prospect. It was just a few days away but after such an amazing evening like he had just had, it seemed too far. He took the bear from her and slipped it into his pocket, leaning in to give her another quick peck on the cheek before opening the door and stepping out. "I'll see you then," he finished, smiling at her and jumping down the front steps onto the snowy walkway. He felt that if he hadn't left then, he probably would have pulled her down with him, really putting himself in danger with her dad. He turned back and flashed a wide grin, repeating himself again as he walked backwards to the street. "I'll see you then..."
He waved as she went back into the house before he turned around and made his way to the sidewalk. It was there that he stopped, did a final happy dance for the evening, and then continued on his way, running to his sister's apartment.
