Arianna now dared to look up. First to Raynor, then to Drew. She was, quite honestly, worried about what they might be thinking. Arianna could already imagine numerous things they might say to her. All of them bad and leaving her feeling worse than she already did.

"Indeed, Madam Johnson. If anyone can find out some remedy, I am sure that you can." The Professor assured smoothly and not unkindly as the woman left to be about her way with the task.
Sighing, Raynor let her gaze wander back over to Arianna, but yet again, whatever she might have been thinking was hard to say. It was unusual for the Deputy to keep such a calm persona in these situations, which would lead some to worry for sure.
Her gaze fell back onto Drew, wondering if she should tell him to leave, but decided against it. Arianna was his friend after all.
"Well, Miss Marlow, " she stated quietly, "should we get started?"

Arianna nodded slowly, the shock of not being trouble now slowly wearing away. She would not, however, let herself believe she wouldn't have to do lines of some sort. Perhaps the professor was only waiting until after they took care of the current problem before getting down to business.
"Yeah...I'm...I'm ready," the girl replied, feeling quite the opposite but knowing there wouldn't be any other time in which she would feel 'ready.'

It was less of the fact that Arianna was in trouble with Tamis as it was that Raynor was disappointed in the girl. In the Deputy's mind, the Ravenclaw had acted poorly and insolently for one of the said house. Anger was beyond the question at the moment, despondency being the overall current emotion.
"The overall factor in being able to transform ones self from human to animal, is not being able to change ones outward appearance to such, but being able to control ones mind in such. When you transform in the way of an animagus, it is less actual transfiguration as it is becoming that animal. Which is why most cannot become one. You actually sacrifice a part of yourself to that animal, a section of your mind is that animal. But an animagus must also learn how to keep that part of your mind from taking over the human, which I believe is amist here."
She explained quietly, trying to water down an immensely difficult topic into one of comprehension for Arianna.
"Try to remember what you are. Can you do that for me? Every detail of yourself. Every last strain of hair, every pore on your face, every crevice on your skin. Its difficult, but you have to try. Tell me when you have done so."

Still back against the wall, nearly hidden in the shadows, Drew listened attentively. He had gotten more information on the subject in the last ten minutes then he had in two years of research. Taking in a deep breath, he slowly closed his eyes, concentrating on himself. No, he hadn't been the one to change, but he wanted to know if he could actually focus himself that well.

Though it sounded emensely difficult, Arianna nodded and closed her eyes. It was actually easier than she thought it would be. After years of drawing and painting others and herself, she had spent hours in the mirror and come to know all the smallest details needed to bring a painting to life. It took some time, but finally Arianna could see everything, from the scar on her chin to the little earring holes in her ears, as clearly as though she was looking in a mirror.
"Now what?" she questioned quietly once she was sure she was ready.

"Concentrate on that image, of who and what you are, tell your brain that you want to return to what you once were. Take the image you have in your mind and try to become it once more. Whatever animal you unsuccessfully wanted to become is trying to take over your consciousness, don't let it. Know who Arianna Marlow is and try and be that image. You're in control, not the animal."
It was a very repetitive speech, but one that the Professor wanted to drill into Ari's mind. She did not tell the girl such, but the reason the Ministry watches those in the process of becoming an Animagus was that, in unusual but common cases, the person can be overtaken by the animal instincts and never again return to their human form. The same could happen to one whom stays in their animal form for too long. It was risky business.

Arianna did what she was told and concentrated harder than she probably ever had and ever would. She imagined herself returning to her normal self; to the Arianna everyone knew. Was she changing? She wasn't sure. Arianna could feel something happening, but didn't dare peek in case it broke her concentration and she had to start over again. She would trust Raynor to tell her when she'd done enough.
