Charon looked as confused as she felt. But she wasn't sure if it was because he hadn't meant to do what happened, or if it was because she had reacted so badly. She allowed her eyes to make contact with his. She didn't know if she should say anything and do anything.
She made up her mind and pulled fully away. She cleared her throat a bit as she stood up straight and offered Charon a hand to help him up, she hoped he would accept. "I'm sure the wizarding community would hold you high on a silver platter if you became the first," she said in response to what he had said before. She hoped she could pretend what had just happened would go away. Her voice was nervous, and she was certain he could see her body jumping from the nerves dancing on the inside.
"However, I do know that if that were to happen, I might have quite the conversationalist on my hands." She let a smile spread across her face, but her eyes told a different story. "I may just have to allow you to do it."

Charon still couldn't figure out whether Rael had wanted the kiss or not, but he decided to just let it go. If it was something that she had wanted to happen, it would likely happen again. And if it wasn't, well, then it wouldn't.
"I don't think I'd quite enjoy being eld high on a silver platter," Charon replied. "Those things usually aren't large enough to sit or lie on, and there's no way I'm going to stand on something as unstable as a silver platter that's being hoisted in to the air. I may not have many preservation instincts, but I do have a few."
He put on an uncertain smile. "As long as I have a pretty nurse to help with the procedure," he said, fixing his gaze on her, "I think we might be able to arrange for that. Know where we can get an extra brain cheap?"

Rael listened to every word Charon said, hoping for a clue as to what had happened. She decided it must have been a mistake, as he seemed to be ignoring the kiss. Was it even considered a kiss? she asked herself. Maybe he ignored it because it hadn't been, it was an accident. She decided that was it, it was an accident, never meant to happen, so she was going to continue to pretend it didn't.
What Charon said about the platter made her laugh, but when she seen his smile, she stopped. Why did he look so uncertain about what he said. He had called her pretty already today, a couple of times. Why should this time have been different? "I'm certain there's one in the potions cupboard somewhere, however it may not be that of a humans. Although, many creatures provide for good conversations."
She had held her hand out to him until this point, being that he hadn't taken it, she slowly pulled it back to herself.

Charon hadn't noticed Rael's hand until she drew it back. He slid himself back a bit so that he wouldn't bump into her as he stood. He stood slowly, his head protesting, but he made it all the way up. he offered Rael his hand to help her up, and to make up for him missing her hand.
"I'm sure that some creatures would make for good conversation," he said, "but you'd have to be very careful about which creatures brain you took. Any creature that's not sentient wouldn't be able to use my mouth to talk, and certain sentient creatures are known to have anit-human feelings." He suddenly grinned somewhat evilly. "That would be interesting, trying to explain to an anti-human creature that it's suddenly a human."
"Of course, you could decide to drop the whole conversation idea and just get yourself a human lapdog," he teasingly added.

She watched as he slid back and stood. When he held his hand out to her, she wasn't sure if he wanted her to hold his, for she had already been standing, waiting for him. As he spoke, she listened, anything to keep her mind off of her thoughts, and off of the raging argument she was mentally having.
"Agreed, it would be very interesting to have to explain that to a sentient creature. However, I think I might be up to the challenge." She smiled as she waited for him to do something with his hand. When he added his last comment, her face was overcome with a mock look of surprise. "And here I thought I already had one," she said as she raised her eyebrows and allowed a smirk to appear on her lips in a joking way.

Since Real hadn't taken his hand, and seemed to be watching it as she had no idea what to do with it, Charon stepped towards her and took hers.
"Hey now. Just cuz I'm at your beck and call doesn't mean I'm a human lapdog," Charon joked. "It just means you know how to control a guy. Didn't I tell you that human lapdog was the highest thing one the reward list, and hardest to get?"

Rael watched as Charon took a step toward her, and felt his hand slide into hers. The warmth of his hand felt good in hers, and she was glad he had done it.
"I'm afraid we skipped over that reward," she smiled coyly. "However, now that you've brought it up, I'm mildly interested. And since it seems we both agree I know how to keep a guy in check, I'd like to know how this reward is attainable." Her eyes sparkled with amusement as she patiently waited for his answer.

"I'd tell you that, but then you'd be going for it. And I rather enjoy my freedom," Charon said playfully. "How about I just let you know when you've attained it?" he asked. "It adds a bit of surprise and suspense then, since you never know whether or not you've attained it."
He smiled at Rael and started walking towards the sounds of people.

"I don't know, your freedom at the moment looks very short-lived from where I'm standing," she said jokingly. "And the light that shows how much freedom you still have seems to be becoming dimmer the more time you spend with me. So, it may work out in my favor soon enough," she replied as she followed the body that belonged to the hand that was attached to hers.
When she had caught up to his side, she gently stepped sideways, right into him.

"Hey, as long as it's a gradual thing that I don't notice, I don't think I'll care," Charon replied.
He bumped Rael back. "Are we doing this again? Y'know, you really shouldn't beat on me. I'm kinda injured here, and you never know what might make me worse," he said, but his tone of voice and the smile on his face made it clear that he was teasing.

Rael turned her head up toward Charon and smiled innocently. "Who said I was beating? I was merely getting you back for what you did to me, yet I'm still not quite sure it's enough. And if I want to work toward having a human lapdog, I might as well start while your vulnerable." Her smile turned into a grin. "The less brain cells you have to work with, the less work I have to do. Therefore, the more injured you are, the closer I am to my goal." She bumped him back.

"I thought I was joking before, when I said you were turning abusive," Charon grumbled jokingly. "Just remember that if I don't have enough brain cells left for sentient though I can't really speak, and if I can't speak I can't tell you whether or not you've attained the human lapdog reward," he said with a devilish grin as he bumped her again.

"Oh, believe me," she began. "You'd tell me. You wouldn't be able to keep it from me by then, you'd be too eagerly doing everything possible in order to tell me." She had turned her head forward by then, still thinking about what had happened, though she tried not to.
"Besides, I think I'd have it in the bag when I can actually get you to polish my shoes, the easiest attainable reward, and yet the least desired." She turned her smiling face once more to Charon, so she could see his.

"Wait a minute. I know you said that polishing shoes was one of my rewards, not one of yours," Charon protested. "Now you're gonna make me polish yours? Sheesh. Maybe I should just give in now and keep my brain cells."
He turned towards Rael and added, "And my dignity."

"Oh, it is your reward, I don't let just anyone polish my shoes." She smiled at him and realized he was looking down at her perfectly. Rael decided to go with her thoughts this time, rather than against them.
She stopped and pulled Charon closer to her. She put her arms around his neck and smiled curiously. "Are you going to kiss me, yet? Or do I have to do it?" she asked as she pulled him closer to her, but stopped short and waited for his answer.
